Food log recent does not work

Using recent foods when logging meals causes app to crash. This has been consistently happening for a year.
Cant use without logging in

No way to assess whether this would be a good app for me because the FIRST thing you have to do it Sign UP for something.
Why cant a person simply open the app -look around -see if it will work -before you have to do all the “create and account” stuff. There are so many apps out there that I have an account with JUST because I wanted to see if it would work for me…and I NEVER go back … but those accounts are still out there…
I’m tired of having everything under covers until you give up your identity -so for me -I will never know if this is a great app or it doesn’t fit.

Truthfully I’ve barely had a chance to use the app. But the low rating is due to lack of accessibility for people with disabilities. There is no captioning of the videos.
Also, the app kept crashing when I tried to sign up. Finally succeeded by clicking on support in App Store which led to website and was able to register there. Then able to log into the app. Very poor process.
