Terrible

Bare bones and less features then the main plex app. The co founder has stated they didn’t have enough resources to update the photos app in plex but apparently now they do? All the main app need is heic support for photos. Having to have 5 different plex apps for a specific task on mobile is terrible. It’s one thing to offer PlexPhotos along side the main app but to remove features I paid for to get something less is dishonest and bad business practice. We waited years with plex promising to see what they had in store for us and the answer is to open up the api to get your consumers to do the work for you

Plex is dying

PlexPhotos is 100% useless. I figured it may actually be a camera app that communicates directly back to my server. Nope, it does the exact same thing as the normal plex app. Don’t waste your time. Plex, get your life together. You’ve released nothing new of any use in years. Plex arcade was kind of fun (dead), plex podcasts was very cool (dead), plex webcasts was cool (dead), plugins was extremely useful (dead).

Frustrating

It just… doesn’t work well. Why does Plex insist on spending resources on half-hearted projects like this instead of the things their customers actually want?

Am I missing something?

Like PlexPhotos doesn’t work at all. Nothing. Sorry but let me know when you have something that works.

What’s the point?

What’s the point of PlexPhotos if doesn’t let you download the pics to the device?

Freezes

PlexPhotos often freezes and I need to quit it and reopen to start viewing again. I have only loaded a handful of images to test it out, so this is concerning going forward.

I have high hopes for Plex Photos. Currently PetaPixel is the standard for self-hosting image galleries, and Plex Photos is very lacking when compared. I would love to one day see it actually become a little bit more featured rich app like PetaPixel, iCloud, or even Amazon Photos. As is, Plex Photos seems more like a distant afterthought to the Plex and Plexamp apps. Looking forward to future updates.

Beginnings

It will be nice to have a standalone app. Right now it’s pretty basic. Not sure what can be done to improve the library page but it’s pretty stark. Also I’d like to see a way of adding or displaying captions and await other improvements.

Hopeful

I’m excited that Plex is working on a photos
app. Please bring back the feature to upload pictures from your mobile device. we used to have that in the main app where we could sync with the server, I would love to see that come back.

A good start

It’s a good start I just wish they could give the ability to move photos from the mobile device directly to the plex library. It was possible before.

Hopeful

Would love to eventually see photos upload for Plex Pass users.

Impressive beginning

I just downloaded the beta, which used my account to find the libraries held on my local server. The response was quick! I like the organization! This is a big leap from the Photos tab within the Plex app! Thank you!!!

Thank you

This is a great add, I work in the industry and know how much it takes to launch something new - keep up the good work!
