After much guesswork it seems you can only scan barcodes to find out ingredience which is ok
But FoodCheckr should provide a set of instructions

You need to put a white background with black lettering so that you can actually read the words in your app. Your request for a review popped up immediately. I have not been able to figure out how to scan something and get information back yet.

I understand that it’s kind of new to develop these kind of apps but I scanned 15 items at a local Costco and it had zero hits they can do better. I’m going to delete and wait until another. One comes around.

I tested FoodCheckr quite a while now. The claim of FoodCheckr is to protect us from harmful food ingredients, which sounds like a very great idea. But since FoodCheckr doesn‘t tell you whether food contains bioengineered ingredients (earlier named GMO) it falls pretty short of its purpose.

When it actually scans it’s amazingly detailed. But good luck getting it to work. I just updated it and it still barely scans
