Needs Help

The this app app is frustratingly unreliable, suffering from frequent crashes that make it difficult to manage my account on the go. On top of that, it often fails to retrieve account information, making the entire experience a test of patience. It's disappointing that an app related to state services is marred by such basic operational issues. This raises questions about the level of proficiency in the administration of state-run applications and services. Overall, NCQuickPass fails to meet the standards one would expect for such an essential service.

I will update this review when NCQuickPass works.

Useless app

Might as well log into the website. App is completely useless! Doesn't show recent transactions, can't check balance, buggy, glitchy, constant error codes or app crashes. I feel bad for anyone who needs NCQuickPass to set HOV status while actively driving! Fortunately we have the flex transponder with a ohysical toggle for HOV, otherwise we'd be screwed. NC quickpass take a cue from NY, FL, GA, and every other state with EZpass... it's really not THAT hard.

I’ve been charged dozens of dollars because the new app sometimes is unable to activate my transponders. Then good luck dealing with the company to fix this. Their process to send you invoices to your mailbox does work perfectly though.

Should we expect any different? Government. Incompetence. Same thing. NCQuickPass doesn’t work. None of the statements work, cannot add nor delete vehicles. Just crappy work. YAY NC software engineers you sure need to be fired! Find someone who can competently do their job!!!

Very poor excuse for customer support

I have a trip I need to pay for. Won’t allow me to create an account to pay toll. Very poor coding implementation. Obviously not use cases created for app. It is a challenge to collect large quantities of payments for small amounts. A good app would increase collections. I’m a retired IT Data Architect with 46 years experience.

App is just trash

I followed the sign up process and it shows me there’s an error. Tried to reset the password and it shows me reset is success but when I tried to login, it says login invalid. Tried to pay directly there’s again another error. Holy NCQuickPass is trash so it’s your website so is your database

Horrible customer service

NCQuickPass works fine for as a little as I use it. It can be clunky and hard to find the correct page. My biggest complaint is that I was lied to by one of their customer service reps. We were making a trip through NC and did not have our pass yet, but I called well before we got to the tiles to double check to see if we had to have the pass, or if an account linked to our license plate was adequate. I was told that we would be fine as long as we marked on NCQuickPass that we were going to be traveling on the HOV lanes with a high occupancy vehicle. They charged us for all the toll crossings with the note on the chafe stating low occupancy. I disputed the charges and had to make several phone calls and was finally told that it doesn’t matter what I was told, I had to have the decal in place. It was very frustrating and the the customer service reps very very unhelpful. The last one never called me back. This is not a good way to run any business. I wish I could give zero stars.

Error messages while trying to set up account

I’ve been trying to set an account for months now and keep getting error messages. I tried using the forgot password function and never received an email and was given a phone number to call if I didn’t receive an email. I was unable to call because I was working 12+ hour shifts seven days a week. finally able to call today and the late charges are much more than the toll charges and they said there’s nothing they can do. this is bad profits and it’s a horrible way for any company to do business.

Broken App - Charged Multiple Times for HOV Lane Usage

The new app does not always submit your HOV declarations, so even if you follow the rules by having 3+ passengers and register your vehicle 15 minutes in advance, you may still be billed the rate as if you were a solo traveler.

I’ve had this happen to me multiple times and have contacted NC Quick Pass via email, online form, and phone to dispute the fees. Each time the dispute has been denied without comment. On top of that, the claims take up to 30 days to review and you accrue additional fees during the review period.

When I asked how I can confirm that my declaration from NCQuickPass was received by NC Quick Pass to avoid future fees, the supervisor said she was not sure and suggested I no longer use NCQuickPass and instead call to declare my status or purchase a different transponder and avoid using NCQuickPass .

I would avoid using NCQuickPass unless you’re okay with late surprise bills.

Terrible first impressions

Somehow my wife got this to work on her phone, but attempting to create an account in NCQuickPass , in a browser (3 different times over the course of three days), and on a different device resulted in errors and failures every time. Then, when trying again, it would prevent me from using previous usernames, because even though it errored out, it registered my proposed usernames (though using the forgot password feature still resulted in it not recognizing it).

Why bother

I downloaded NCQuickPass because I have to expense all my tolls for work. Tried it several times and every time I ended up having to close it, if it didn’t close itself, and just went to the website. I ended up just deleting it. Maybe I’ll redownload a hopefully much better version in the future.

NCQuickPass is extremely confusing. I received a statement notice for $145. I go to pay where the account balance reflects $145 but payment options are so odd…I finally figure out how to pay against my credit card and now my account balance has doubled to $290. This makes no sense.

Please do better. The replishment options are confusing…and making a payment against an account balance should never increase the account balance.

Failed attempt for an app

Got tagged last month on 540 and decided to use NCQuickPass to pay. For one, you can’t even create an account to pay because the invoice has to be cleared prior to doing so. In addition to making a payment, you need a separate credit/debit card to do so because Apple Pay doesn’t even work. Try again, NC DOT.

Poor customer support

I downloaded the new app and tried to login but it says the UN/PW aren’t correct. Tried to reset PW, says successful but still can’t login. Sent an email for help logging in and got nothing. Sent another and still waiting. Never had an issue with the old app. Guess I’ll have to try to call and get everything set up. Wish me luck!

Buggy, fails with Apple Pay

It said my account was suspended due to required payment that I had made a full year before when I logged in the first time. Apple Pay failed repeatedly due to some problem with how they handle expiration dates.

When I finally made the payment directly via a credit card, NCQuickPass realized .y account was not suspended but had carried a surplus balance all along. Not a great start.

This app doesn’t work

I keep getting “internal service error” and cant access anything useful on NCQuickPass . I only downloaded NCQuickPass because I can’t access my account via internet browser on my computer. I keep getting an error saying my password is wrong (but it’s not because it works via NCQuickPass ). I called them and was told to use chrome to access the site. Then that stopped working so I submitted a ticket via NCQuickPass and was told to use INTERNET EXPLORER, which Microsoft retired in 2022! NC Quickpass needs to get it together.

Used this for a rental car in the Chicago area. App would not let me add the rental car, had to delete my personal car first. Also did not allow me to go back in date/time for the rental car. My old IL tollway site let me add unlimited cars and also allowed to back date/time. There are times when leaving areas such as airports that you go on tollways immediately.

NCQuickPass has numerous issues. The previous app allowed the user to cancel a booking for HOV usage. Also it’ll crash when logging in at times and this will not allow the user to log in for the HOV or any other purpose for 1/2 an hour. Definitely needs the kinks worked out.

If you’re going to force me to give up the HOV app, you should at least make NCQuickPass a lot easier to use. I should be able to login and quickly see how much time I have left in HOV before I need to renew. The other app does that. NCQuickPass does not.

I am not happy with the fact that NCQuickPass does not simply give a one way trip total but lists numerous metered points along the way. In other words, the typical NC nickel and dime method.

List of transactions shows a lot of detail but not the charge value. You have to open each row to see how much you were charged. It also only goes back an arbitrary 90 days. Not sure why not allow me to see my entire transaction history of I want to. Opening notifications doesn't remove the notification symbol to indicate they were read. That's what I got by using NCQuickPass for less than 4 minutes.

I’m sure NCQuickPass went through some development and they had to work out the troubles. It works fine now, easy to use and very informative. For any new account changes I would recommend using the full website. This is best for a quick look.
