Norton Genie: AI Scam Detector Reviews

Can’t say much on NortonGenie performance yet but the virtual hair on the screen is a bad joke. The hair only exists on this Genie app.

Did not detect obvious scams that purported to be from lifelock with a gmail address. A valid Norton communication would not come from a gmail address. AI should catch this very basic scam.

I downloaded NortonGenie thinking it would be helpful as I get a lot of scam emails and texts. I sent two different messages and got the same answer for both. Sorry we can’t tell if this is a scam or not. Really? One of the emails was from Norton approving my purchase of their software, which I didn’t buy. What a joke. I immediately deleted the email and NortonGenie . If they can’t even recognize someone using their company in a scam, what good is it. Very disappointing as I use Norton for my protection. May have to reconsider their product

NortonGenie should be located right where I read my emails & text messages. Instead its a separate app somewhere on my phone. NortonGenie should NEVER ask me to copy & paste an email or text containing a virus onto a separate page into the Norton Genie app. I could accidentally tap the link to the virus in doing so. Not everybody knows how to copy & paste on an iPhone. NortonGenie is useless & is of no help in warning people of scam messages.

Just downloaded NortonGenie and tried it on an email that I received that was supposed to be from Lifelock with a gmail address. NortonGenie said that it couldn’t help me with what was obviously a scam email. Lifelock wouldn’t use a gmail address, yet NortonGenie couldn’t help by identifying an obvious scam? I hope it improves as it is used and learns more, but it is not very effective at present.

NortonGenie definitely has the right idea but is…..for lack of a better word—-wonky ! Another reviewer exclaimed that we shouldn’t be required to copy and paste emails we wish to check. They are 100% correct….and it’s “wonky” to use at best. I really hope work is continuing on NortonGenie because it’s nearly useless as it stands.

It detected a scam email and alerted to another suspicious text. I will start using this for things I am unsure of.

First thing I tried was one of those scam emails for a bogus order. Google had already put it in my Scam folder.

Genie told me it was NOT a scam. There is no way that I can see to tell NortonGenie that it is wrong, so not sure how it learns. Deleting app now.

I just downloaded NortonGenie and ran two checks….both from scam emails. Both came back with the same statement…”It’s not totally clear. Sorry, I cannot advise you…”. The idea is good, but it’s not ready for the public, yet.

Norton usually produces good products. But the Norton Genie is not one of them. I tested it using email screen print images for items I knew were scams. It said some were light! It said most were undetermined. And it said just a few were scams. DO NOT DEPEND ON NortonGenie. IT IS NOT ADEQUATELY EFFECTIVE AND COULD GIVE YOU A SENSE OF SECURITY ON SINE EMAILS THAT ARE CLEARLY SCAMS.

NortonGenie is completely useless and fails to identify even the most obvious phishing and other scams. Use this at your own risk. Don’t click on links in emails. Don’t open unexpected attachments. Delete this horrible app.

Tried obvious scams and always says it can’t detect without more info. Used pictures and text.

So far I’ve uploaded screenshots of two emails with and it replies that it can’t help. So it’s no help.

Is NortonGenie itself a scam?

One would come to expect something better from Symantec/Norton? I mean what’s the use of having NortonGenie if you have to feed it emails or the like manually? I would have expected it to run independently as a background task watching your inbound mail connection for inbound mail. As it is, a lot of people rely on ythings to be automated, why use something that could have a virus laden attachment and just to see if it a scam, you have to open a potentially dangerous email so NortonGenie can tell you if it’s a scam or not. Won’t be using this tool (would feel like a tool for using this lame attempt to be somewhat useful.). Come on Norton, you can do better for as long as you have been in the Corporate & Home users applications.

I know that it’s an early access app, but have to copy/paste or take a phot of it is pretty lame.

An email most of the time doesn’t even fit in one screen shot if you want to go that route.

And having to copy/paste is a hassle.

I take a photo of an email which I know wasn’t a scam and it properly said it wasn’t.

I will it some more and see if I can fool it.

I have Norton 360 on my PCs and IOS devices.

Come on Norton, do thi the right way and intercept and read the message on your own and raise a flag when you notice something that doesn’t look right.

I agree with the naysayers. Will be removing it immediately

So far I’ve tested one definite scam and 4 non scams and the Genie was right every time! I’m going to download onto my parents phones because they are more gullible than me.

I’ll keep this short and simple. NortonGenie could not detect any obvious scam emails. The failure rate for NortonGenie stands at 100%. I am deleting it.

It worked as expected. It scanned the screen dump I took.

I like the ability to check texts that I get or emails to find out if I’m being scammed or not because I get so many sometimes I click on things I thought I requested information on. This has been very helpful.

I wish I would’ve had this tool years ago maybe I wouldn’t of got scammed out of my hard earned money but it may help others now I have to download it on my wife’s phone. #great product

Had hopes this would work, doesn’t…..Period, end of story. Copied and pasted info of obvious scam into genie. Genie said looks legit….Deleted app due to clunky copy/paste function to scan. Why isn’t this tech already incorporated into Norton Anti Virus anyway……?

It is only cosmetic show as if it is AI enabled but it did not identify spam message though I posted receivers iCloud email id which itself I. A pattern that is spam or malicious nor it found from text of matter as if promises something unbelievable.Better Norton get the product fully developed before release than using users as its testers and employees

I kinda knew it was a scam but didn’t know for sure but NortonGenie was able to really help

Posted in a crypto scam. I was invited to a chat group to learn about BTC trading on whatapp. They sent me a link to a fake trading platform start small they said. Everybody in the group was making “tons of money” and I could to. Classic scam. NortonGenie said if “could be a scam”. Need some improvement. Set up a profile on Facebook dating site and you will get many beautiful woman inviting you to whatapp and trying to scam you. App needs more experience before being ready for prime time.

I think I have a new favorite app! The very first time I use NortonGenie it saved me from clicking on something that would have opened me up to. I don’t know what kind of dangers. I am very thankful for the Norton Genie.

NortonGenie saved me from accepting and giving out my personal information online to false employers. These false companies sent me so many convincing pictures.

Finally an app to help answer the question is an email or text message a scam. Kudos on will become a “go to” app for me when in doubt!

When in doubt, I ask Norton Genie. It has helped me so much in recognizing potential harmful scams. And it is easy to use.

AI works as advertised! I tested it against a known scam and a government text and it correctly identified the real one from the fraud. Great product!!

Scan the ad before making any purchase. The Norton Genie is quick and very efficient sniffing out scammers. I will never purchase anything online again without using Norton Genie first! Highly recommend NortonGenie.
