The product itself does roughly what it claims to do. How well it does it is up for debate. I find the overall user interface to be fiddly, especially when trying to edit nodes on vector objects. Though it did a great job turning some raster images into vectors for me. But I’ve otherwise abandoned using it for the most part. My primary reason for not using it is because of the ads.
Logoist5 has an obnoxious ad that shows up in the form of a pop-up window for one of their products (Family Tree -- which has literally nothing to do with Logoist 5)
I got it once, and thought to myself, "Okay, I'll give them that one. Surely they'll not bug me again." The next time I opened Logoist5 (a week later and into the next month) I get the same ad for the same ridiculous product that I'm not even remotely interested in. Why? Because it's the "May Sale" of course! Annoying your paying customers with pop-up ads for wholly unrelated products every month seems like a great way to get a bad review. So here ya go.
I just purchased Logoist 5, and on launch, the first thing I did was click on the VectorAI tool. I was surprised and disappointed to see a warning dialog box pop up: 'Unfortunately, this device is not compatible with VectorAI. Minimum requirements: A Mac with an Apple M Chip, an iPhone 12, an iPad Air (4th Generation), iPad (10th Gen.), iPad mini (6th Gen.), or an iPad Pro (11" 4th Gen., 12,9" 5th Gen.) or later.' These limitations really should have been disclosed in the description (notably, they are not in the "Compatibility" section of the MAS page). I can't use this tool on either my Intel Mac Mini desktop or my 3rd-gen iPad Pro. What a bad first impression!
I've been using this product since it was first released. I've been through most of the versions. It's a great software but, there are a few things that cause me problems regularly.
First - in the new version adding a border around items isn't working properly. In many items I can only add a border with a gradient.
Second - for the past few versions the area where you can move shapes and fonts into circles, bridges, and different shapes doesn't work the way it should. Here's an example. I type a word. I select that I want the font in a circular shape (with an arc). Then I want to rotate the font so the arc is facing horizontal. This makes the font unreadable and causes distortion instead of just plain turns the font in the direction I'm looking for. This worked in the first two versions of this software but, in the past three it's been lost. Please bring this back.
Third - I would like to be able to search in the clipart section for things I'm looking for. Please add this feature (I don't think this has ever been available).
Outside of these areas - I really do appreciate this software and would highly recommend.
I really like Logoist5, especially for quickly vectorizing images; however, I don’t like not being able to sync across devices (i.e., iPad and Mac). And why is there an option on iPad to export as a Logoist file—but this same option is missing from the Mac version? It doesn’t make sense. In addition, I can’t drag object handles using my attached Wacom tablet. This also doesn’t make sense.
If the developer finds a way to support Vector AI on 9th generation iPad, then it will deserve 5 stars. No explaination is given why iPad 9th generation is not supported.
Vectorize is the main reason I bought Logoist5. The second reason is the possibilty of using it to create T-Shirt artwork. I already own a competitor software, but they still haven't added any way to auto trace raster images into vector.
I felt that the extra $10 would be worth it to get extra features, but didn't really do my research enough to find out that Vector AI isn't supported with my new iPad 9th generation got on sell April 2024.
I would have upgraded today, but the sell is over, and the 10th generation is back up to is normal price.
After purchase and in less than a minute I was astounded by the high quality of vectorization I achieved with practically no knowledge about this program. Looking through the options and layouts, I Iike the logic behind its workflow and GUI. The most important missing functionality for becoming a full-fledged vector application is a mesh gradient tool.
I have been doing freelance graphic design work for about 10 years. Whether you are a novice, hobbyist, or a pro, you'll find that Logoist 5 is a great addition to the toolkit. And it's a super fun outlet for your creativity. No subscription required, Amen! I immediately went surfing to see what else Synium had to offer. Love it.
I’ve used this product for nearly a decade. Can accomplish a lot and yet it’s simple and intuitive. Adding iPad version takes it to next level.
I don't have a fast enough computer for VectorAI but I'm sure it's worth it! I have been a long-time customer and love all of the software put out by synium .
