Overall Great App

Pros: you can set health goals such as how many steps a day you want to walk, how many calories a day you want to intake, how many glasses of water a day you want to drink, and it will remind you throughout the day to drink water etc. I love how Argus has everything you need integrated into one app. I’m not sure how this isn’t the #1 rated health app! It’s way better than Fitness Pal. It has a fun feature to challenge a friend to see who can walk the most steps. You can scan barcodes to have nutrition info automatically entered. If you cook, you can create recipes to input nutritional info & save them for the future if needed again. If you go walking/running you can turn on the GPS to track where you walked. Just so many cool features, I could go on and on...
Cons: There are some features that you have to pay for to access, such as only being able to manually enter calories but you have to pay for the subscription to enter the rest like carbs, protein & fat. You can scan a barcode of the food & it will show you everything including the carbs, protein & fat. But to enter a recipe manually, you don’t have access to that unless you pay the subscription. That’s the only thing I don’t like about Argus.

No Go

I wouldn’t advise getting Argus to anyone as there a myriad of others that offer the same tools and much easier to maneuver. If you’re simply using to track steps, your phone does this for you already (iPhone users). If you’re using it to track meals, calories, etcetera then it’s okay except for the fact that there A LOT of foods not in their “bank” so you have to add yourself. Again, most other apps don’t have this issue. I purchased the “premium” and discovered that doesn’t even offer what’s advertised. Couple that with good luck trying to get a hold of anyone with questions or confirmation as all roads lead nowhere. Argus itself doesn’t provide a customer service link so I looked on Argus Store. This provided the developers site and I did find a “contact us” link. When I completed typing my email and went to send I repeatedly got a “failure” notification. From there I used FB Messenger of which I’m still waiting for a reply. Reasons for contacting is I don’t want my subscription to auto renew (research this before purchasing as it’s misleading). If need be I’ll change my ITunes payment options but seems like too much effort for such a simple request. In summary, it may be tedious, but research an app before using and again, no I wouldn’t recommend this to anyone.

Argus Fitness App

I have been on this app for 4 1/2 years, and it has literally changed my life. When I first got on this app, I had been sick for almost 5 years and was confined to my bed for around six hours every day. I started using this app to motivate and track myself to walk every day. Today, I sometimes walk 20 miles/day. Also, I have progressed to the point of doing workouts, some including using dumbbells and kettlebells. One of the greatest aspects of this app is the interaction you get to have with people all around the world. I have made some of the best friends I have ever had, and I’ve been blessed to meet some of them, and there are some that I talk to almost on a daily basis. The only negative thing I can say about it is that some people like to treat it as a dating site, and/or some people take inappropriate pictures of themselves. It does so much more, but if you choose to buy it, you will quickly come to love it as much as I do!

Like it on my phone, but not on watch

I like Argus. I change my macros daily for carb cycling and I love the overall layout and setup. But the database, picture option, and even food scanner are really lacking. I’ve grown used to manually entering things & since I eat the same 20 items it’s not longer an issue but honestly they need to update their database.
My second issue is Argus on the Apple watch. I can only see activity and workout options on the watch app. I already have that through Apple and another fitness app. I just want to quickly see my calorie intake and macros for the day.
This is super frustrating bc I only ended up with the paid subscription for this app bc I purchased the annual membership for another azumio app, gym buddy, and when that app wasn’t useful I started using this app instead of MFP so I didn’t feel bad for losing $40. Now I’m annoyed I didn’t just save my money and pay for MFP so I could use it on my watch and have set macros for specific days and actually be able to find foods in the database that I haven’t previously manually entered.

Great for holding yourself accountable

Argus works great for counting calories once you get used to navigating its functions. The food database is a bit messy, but thorough; you just need to scroll through the list to find what you're looking for, though there seem to be many repeats for basic foods with some variations in calorie counts, so it's hard to know what to pick. A "frequently eaten" list might be a nice addition for saving every day foods; though the foods you input are saved in a master list, it gets kind of long after a while and it would be nice to have a shorter list of foods you consume often. Argus offers workouts and exercise tutorials, but I haven't yet figured out to input your own workouts and figure those calories burned into the daily count. That might be doable, but if so that feature isn't an obvious one while navigating. All other features work well, and the price of an annual Premium subscription is better than similar apps. Overall, I'm enjoying using this app!

Medical Beriatrics

As a professional Epidemiologist 23y Nurse of 41y, my health was taken from me in two car accident (1st an insurance scam 2006 & 2nd second as a smaller the latest one. Trying to learn to walk with a broken lumbar region has proven to be the hardest challenges of my life to date of my 58 yrs.

Because was in a medical bariatric program to loose weight, to reduce the pressure on my back & fear of an MVA has left me in constant fear as it was complicated by this weight issue.

Purchasing this app was the first program to easily track my calories on & out was amazing, but its ability to secronize both weight, blood sugar & activity, sleep, and other things such as hours slept, weather, heart rate has made laborious tasks so easy.

My doctor can read even real time data, & maybe a personal trainer, can see calories and weight may not be a simplistic lab function.

Making information objective for professionals see easier to achieve, & though my weight has not decreased as hoped, I can see empirically it is NOT my occasional slip of too many calories, the occ 8 oz can of soda, nor the massive amounts of protein consumed.

The science of wellness may be those things when young or not ill. But once health is lost, these things go arye.

I could not see this and other things in real time fashion without this app & other means is aiding this effort. My doctors like it too.

Thank you this app!

The Oregano

This million dollar app is so good it should be picked up by Apple and offered for free on every iPhone users dashboard.

this app invested deep pocket money to make Argus simply sensational. Sleep tracking with heart rate monitoring. Wake up to world wide friends and have social support. Become 10% happier by being genuinely glad for their success. Why, because you actually see those friends post every day for years.

You see some people use exercise, others runners, so much variety.

The tile dashboard leads you through next steps throughout the day. Your health is one step at a time. You can picture without limitation everything about yourself. That's accountability. You then can comment how it makes you feel.

Argus has a rich resource of tracking prior results in its reports feature. Learn if your perceptions about yourself are really true. Compare the effect of one activity on another aspect. Day you wanted to find out if meditation effected heart rate.

You will be motivated to actually see good days, struggle days in pictures. You will have an this app family who sticks with Argus for multi years. Thats the oregano factor.

Awkward and difficult to use tracker

I’ve been using the premium version of Argus for a little less than a month and I have to say I hate it. Entering in my daily meals is cumbersome and the database itself is often inaccurate. The camera feature (which is one of the main reasons I chose Argus) rarely works and is worthless. For instance, when I took a picture of mashed potatoes Argus suggested they were a plate of cauliflower. Arugula salad was green beans. Whole meal pictures are worse. There are also things that are irritating with Argus . Like constantly seeing an ad for this app’ scale even though I have a premium account. The camera screen blocking out the menu buttons when first starting Argus , and even the included recipes are junk.

Lastly, be very careful when purchasing a subscription with this company. I chose the 1 year subscription and immediately hated Argus . Apple would not refund my money even though this app’ terms state I had 14 days to change my mind. Once you subscribe you’re stuck.

There are much better apps with more accurate and user friendly databases. I suggest you avoid this app with a ten foot pole.

Evolving App

In the beginning Argus linked to LifeCoin. Then it didn’t. In the beginning Argus liked to my meditations through Waking Up or through the Apple Health app. Then it didn’t (I log meditations manually). There are such better calorie counter/recipe apps out there than Calorie Mama and as far as photo AI for food or searching for food in a restaurant- forgetabodit.

That said, I’ve paid my dues for the other apps, the nutritionists and the personal trainers so I’m not new at this, so I appreciate the fact that Argus syncs flawlessly with my Azumio health scale and gives me a social network option of nice folks who encourage me.

Argus is clearly figuring out what it wants to be when it grows up. In the meantime I’ll work around its limitations and wait for its developers to get the recipe right. (Calorie Mama needs some serious help in the recipe department.) TJ’s is a good concept that could be great. Link to Sam Harris’ Waking Up Course and LifeCoin.

4 1/2 stars!

Argus is great. If it was possible, I would have given it 4 1/2 stars.I like how it offers workout plans, daily challenges, and the stand up testing. It is capable of adding pictures of food, and displays all of your information in a fun format. I also LOVE the articles that are posted daily.
It is probably the most elaborate app I’ve been able to utilize, and would definitely recommend people paying the money to have the upgrades.
The only thing I dislike about it is adding food. It doesn’t allow me to add whole meal options at once, and took a little bit longer. It also doesn’t allow you to change the serving size measurement for all your items, and I haven’t quite figured out how to create my own items just yet, but sure I’ll get to it.
Either way, I have absolutely recommended this to people and think it’s a fantastic app.

Really good for a free app

I’ve been using Argus pretty consistently for almost a year now. Here’s what it does well: tracking weight, tracking daily steps, keeping up with my runs (set it for a distance or time goal and it will tell you your stats every certain interval, like every quarter mile with your speed- very helpful!) and cycling (but you can’t forget to turn it on when you leave).

What it doesn’t do well, unfortunately, is food. If you cook for yourself from scratch with more than a few ingredients, you have to manually search for each item and enter all the info yourself. Even just copying/pasting previous meals like breakfast isn’t simple. It was so cumbersome that I gave up after a few weeks.

Overall, I really benefited from seeing my daily steps and weight loss, but as a food tracker, it’s not very useful.

Argus is letting me down.

When I first downloaded Argus I thought it would be the end all be all and a free app to boot.... after using it continually for nearly two years the bugs and lack of developer response is really pushing me to rethink keeping it. The occasional notice that Argus closed itself wasn’t a hassle but the update before last really tested my patience... This morning I see that there’s is an update waiting and a “fix”.... updates annnndd... no same warning popped up twice in five minutes. I really had faith in Aarhus and even bought the scale which works awesome and gives a lot of good useful metrics but it’ll be useless with out Argus ... I used to highly recommend Argus but now....

Good app, but could be better

It’s a good app, but there are several changes that could make it better.
- Prompts to get premium are annoying. I am just never going to do it. Instead give me a cheaper option to just eliminate it and adds.
- frequently used apps are displayed on main screen with option to add (good). Yet, I weigh myself almost daily & it never shows up. Why?
- often, I start an activity (walk, hike), then forget to stop it, get in my car & drive off. First, if I am “hiking” and suddenly going 50mph, it should figure out I am no longer hiking. Or, least let me go back later & terminate the activity at an earlier point.
- the auto run feature is useless. It drains the battery., and doesn’t let me say when the run stopped. When I go for a run, I usually walk a short distance, then start running. Getting my phone out to start run is a pain. So, I would prefer an auto start feature for my run. Then, I can say auto start during my walk, and just start running when I am ready. Then, stop the run when I am done.
- stopping any activity takes too many steps. Pause, then end, then done.
- lately app is very slow to load (several seconds).

Not even sort of helpful

Maybe if I was looking to lose weight it would have been a good app, but I struggle with a horribly high metabolism and a lack of appetite due to mental illness and I’m generally a small guy so sometimes it’s just tough to eat full meals. I’m currently 30lbs underweight and dropping, I’m essentially just starving simply by existing at this point and Argus was useless!
All it wanted me to do was lose weight or build muscle even after calibrating everything and taking the stupid quiz! I need to gain weight, fat, I’m not healthy and I’m not the only one (I know so many people who struggle with similar things or have struggled with anorexia in the past and have trouble eating well today as well.) It’s not healthy to only cater to the two options of “losing weight” or “building” muscle, this is supposed to be a meal tracker app and something to help people be healthy, it needs to be able to be used by everyone who needs it not Just the idealistic stereotypes

Awesome app but....

I love Argus because of it’s all-in-one design and integration with the other azumio apps. However, I use an Apple Watch to track my steps but there doesn’t seem to be an option to have this app track steps ONLY from my Apple Watch and not my phone. This is somewhat of a dealbreaker for me simply because there are situations where I can’t always have my phone on me, thus I miss out on tracking steps. Also, I cannot import my heart rate that my watch tracks, nor does it seem to import heart rate from Apple health, even though it is synced properly. I really enjoy the azumio apps and hopefully I will get to see better Apple Watch integration.

Worked great until...

I have been using Aarhus for a few years now and have loved it. I even paid for prime access so I could get all the extra nutritional data etc. it worked well with my iPhone and Apple Watch. Then I upgraded to the iPhone X and it stopped working. I mean stopped working at all. I get a blank screen when I try and open it and then it shuts down. this app links for app support go literally no where as well. I contacted Apple and the had me uninstall reinstall this app. No good. Then had me reset the network settings. Success! For 2 days. Had an update to the iOS last night and this morning this app is trashed again. Tried, again to click on app support and again went no where. I hate to leave a bad review but this seems like the only way to get the attention of this app that Houston we have a problem. I don’t want to switch apps! I want this app to work again!!!

I have been using this app for about 4 years

And recently upgraded to the premium version. I must say it is not worth the money paid. They said it would track more nutrients but it really doesn’t only the macros and then very few vitamins. Also doesn’t recognize most of the bar codes I scan in. I paid money to input data for the company? I also bought the smart scale. I hope that wasn’t a mistake too but my 13 year old scale just doesn’t seem trust worthy anymore. But we shall see. Please add more foods to the registry and more nutrition tracking. I must admit that I do love that Argus tracks my water, coffee, steps, calories and all for free. But not impressed with the few extra things you get for the money like more custom work out slots and recipes.

A Potential Game Changer w a critical weak spot

This could be Argus that knocked every other comprehensive health app out of the running - if only it’s good journal wasn’t so limited and wildly inaccurate... 4 oz of salmon is registered as having 36calories OR 100calories OR 245 calories. This is just for a generic entry of “salmon” and none of the individual data has any mention of different ways of cooking etc. additionally many if not most of the entries are ambiguous portion sizes (1 serving?!). What good is a health app whose food journal is so all over the place and inaccurate! Once one of these good journals are willing to put in the time to actually record ACCURATE food nutritional value all these apps - from fitness pal to this one is ripe for a disruptive that actually gets it right!! I wish it was this app since they have so many other great features.

Almost perfect

This is app is so good it caused me to write my first ever app review. It’s literally been life changing and helped me track everything I’m eating as well as other analytics in an engaging way. I started losing weight after two weeks!

HOWEVER, the user interface is confusing sometimes (needs to be clearer what hex belongs to which date). My sister, who doesn’t walk with her phone in her pocket like I do, doesn’t have her steps tracked and cannot manually enter steps taken. Also, there are some other minor issues involving accidental button presses which could be ironed out.

Hopefully fixes for these will come soon, but overall this is a GREAT free app.

Awesome app. Some recent bugs.

Overall this has been a great app for all-in-one fitness tracking with lots of functionality at the free level. Highly recommend it.

However, the most recent update seems to have some bugs in the calorie tracker, with difficulty getting food entries to log and then phantom calories showing on the main display that don’t show in detail view. This has only been a problem since the most recent update. I tried unsuccessfully to find a way to report in app support. Hopefully this will be corrected in the next update. Still an awesome app - thanks!

A good first time app

This is the first fitness app I've downloaded and most of the free features are easy to understand and straightforward. I have enjoyed using it so far, and I very much appreciate the bar card scanner for food tracking and the meal tracking features in general.

The downside to Argus is that 80% of the content is locked behind the premium account doors which can be accessed by either a monthly fee that is about the same price as a gym membership or a limited time offer yearly fee. I don't believe that all that content should be free, but it would be nice if the premium content was broken into one time micro transactions. For instance if you want access to premium workouts, pay a one time fee for every workout that's currently available but you don't get updates when they are released.

Received a new iPhone after Argus was transferred Freon old iPhone to new iPhone using Cloud, the distance and calorie count is substantially less on the new phone then the old. Don’t know why this happened.

Maren Peterson   2 years ago

I want to change the calorie budget given me. It's far too low. I thought by changing the date of my weight loss goal from August to November, I would be given more calories. I find no way to do that! Please help. Maren
