Easy to use

CalorieCounter makes it far easier to log food than any other food logging app I’ve used. With actual pictures of food, verified nutritional info, and a great barcode database, I don’t feel like I’m trying to figure out the best approximation of the thing I ate every time I go to log something. The thing I actually consumed, with its official nutritional information, is right there.

The design itself is also intuitive and simple. The front page is an interactive diary of the day. You don’t have to click through different menus just to add something or to see everything you’ve eaten. Another major food logging app, by comparison, has a landing page filled with so many articles and other info that it just adds an extra barrier to something most people don’t find that easy to do in the first place. It’s such a relief that CalorieCounter is trying to make it easy to do something that I already want to do. If that means I have to pay, then I will gladly.

As a side note, I live in the UK now, and I really appreciate the amount of UK-specific info CalorieCounter has. I compared the barcode scanning between this and another app, and where NutraCheck found pecans from M&S, the other app found something that I believe was from Germany and added by a user. This is obviously a specific use case, but it does make it just that little bit nicer to use for anyone in the UK.

Apple Watch Issue

Hello! In regards to workouts on Apple Watch how do I disable it so information does not show on daily page? I’ve unchecked it, but information is still showing on daily, but it is greeted out so it’s not adding the calories to total, which is good. Unfortunately, the information when I do have it activated is throwing calories off as it’s not only adding workout calories, but total calories. I believe your app already takes into consideration my daily activity level, since I choose it when setting up app. Another issue with it is when I add an exercise to app, it adds to Apple Watch activity. In other words, if I worked out for an hour through workout on watch and then I added a workout on your app of 30 min, my watch now shows 90 min of workout activity, which completely throws off exercise goal. I’m only manually entering on your app to circumvent the Apple Watch data that is deactivated, but still showing on app greyed out. Long explanation and probably unclear. If you can tell me how to completely disconnect watch from app, I can handle it from there. Otherwise I like CalorieCounter , but this is a serious flaw from multiple perspectives.

Great calorie monitoring

I love that CalorieCounter has so much data stored for common items and not so common items. It’s also pretty intuitive to use.
Excellent data base with the option to add foods & data. Many apps only provide specific brands but if your goal is like mine, to cook fresh food, it isn’t easy to find a tracker that gives caloric values for a general term (like chili con carne) and then provides variations ( chili con carne with or without beans) in addition to prepared foods by restaurants or companies. It also provides great images so you can visually see what is implied by the food choice.
I used to use Fitbit, but it wasn’t anywhere near this comprehensive or provide the options for portions available in CalorieCounter. Having switched to Apple Watch for my fitness, I prefer CalorieCounter to monitor my caloric intake.
Love. Love. Love.
Keep up the good work!

Great app!

CalorieCounter is the perfect app for counting calories and losing weight if you choose. When I first got CalorieCounter it was so easy to use and I loved it until I found out that I had to pay for it. I was so excited to have CalorieCounter and I was happy on how easy it was but when I clicked the account page I saw that is was $29 a year or $4 a month and I was so sad so I got on my computer and canceled my account.😞😔😭I really wanted to use CalorieCounter but they did not have a free account. Thank you developers for CalorieCounter but I wish soooo badly that you add a free account. Even if the free account had ads or did not have the different things to track I know I would get CalorieCounter again and spread the word, “CalorieCounter ACCOUNT IS FREEEEEEE!!!
Again thank you for CalorieCounter but I don’t know if I would want to pay for it. I am disappointed that CalorieCounter does not have a free account. And I would rather get myfitnesspal(not saying myfitnesspal is a bad app because it is a really good app) than CalorieCounter. I will miss CalorieCounter.😔

I love this app

CalorieCounter is so easy to use to log what you eat! It has a feature to scan bar codes on a lot of food/drink items. If scanned it logs the serving size and you adjust from there, if you are more or less, whatever quantity consumed. It is a great way to keep track of how much water you drank throughout the day and how many calories you have left after consuming foods. It also encourages you to eat healthy by giving a daily apple you try to fill. Another great feature is that it is able to sync it to your Apple Watch and it reads/adjusts your activity level to your calorie consumption. I have been using this for about a week now, (have tried others and lost interest or didn’t follow through) but I plan to continue to use this one. I would highly recommend this.

Amazing!

There could not be enough space to write the favorable review CalorieCounter deserves! By comparison to other apps (not just nutrition apps) CalorieCounter is the Gold Standard. It is ingeniously thought out and extraordinarily intuitive to use. The useful practicality it brings to those interested in monitoring their daily diet is immeasurable. It provides totally useful, accurate input and is all but infinitely editable. The UI is clean, brilliantly laid out and easy to customize. Web access to your mobile data is accumulative and offers even more insight and control over content. As they say “I could write a book.” Suffice it to say, If you care about how diet affects your health, then download it, upgrade it and use it. You can’t miss with this one. Alas, if only the NutraCheck team could have designed the Apple Health app.

Love it!♥️

Don’t have the money for a membership and I love the track that CalorieCounter have still though. There’s a 5 item limit after 9 days I believe because I started on the 16th but you can always take the five items you put down and put it on paper then remove those five and continue adding more items in that same routine until you get your calorie count as long as you don’t go over your limit goal, subtract the goal from the calories you have left also the fat too! CalorieCounter help me learn the difference between Fat, Kcal, servings and more such as scanning efficiently and checking progress. They even have forums where you can share your progress and read others. The membership is definitely worth it if you have the money!

Keeping it REAL

I am a 52 year young woman who is 5’6” and have been struggling with my weight due to stress and recent surgery. I was a healthy weight but, over the past 9 months dropped to the point I looked very sickly. I purchased a weight gainer product and have needed to keep track of my calories to be sure I was taking in enough daily. CalorieCounter is AMAZEBALLS with the ease of scanning a product and adding it to your intake with a touch of a button. The only downside is that there are no options to add whole milk with cereal and all restaurants are not included. This will hopefully be an additional as NOT everyone is overweight and this benefits those who are on the opposite spectrum.

Amazing app

I love the layout and how everything is so easily set up. I had been using Myfitness pal, but feel this one is easier and better setup. When a nutritional label is wrong, instead of having to wait for approval to have it be changed or adding a new one. You can just change the info immediately and it updates and adds to your food list under whatever meal your having. I also love the forum setup and how it’s not cluttered with other nonsense like other apps I’ve tried to use. It’s simple and easy to understand and overall exactly what I need to keep my motivation going.

App seems nice but quit working after 2 days

I was really enjoying CalorieCounter . There were tons of options for foods & exercises. I love how it automatically figured in calories I burned during the day. I was considering buying the yearly membership.
But after 2 days CalorieCounter completely quit working & wouldn’t load at all. Customer service was great when I emailed but could not get the issue fixed.
I checked it everyday to see if it was working. Finally on the 5th day it opened & worked. It had saved my first 2 days of info so I was trying to add in what I could remember eating for the last 3 days. Then I get an alert on CalorieCounter that my 5 day trial was over and I could only enter 5 items for each day. I thought it was a 7 day trial?!?
I gave it 2 stars because customer service was amazing & CalorieCounter has a good concept.

Could Add a Few things

Overall, I love CalorieCounter. It makes counting my calories and carbs so much easier. Although, I wish they had an option to count net carbs instead of all carbs, because I have to calculate that by myself :/. A lot of people enjoy counting net carbs instead of carbs, so I think it would be great to add that feature. I also LOVE how I can easily connect my Fitbit!! One more thing I think they should fix is the price. It’s still on the higher side, considering a lot of free calorie counter apps do a lot of the same things CalorieCounter does (minus a few features here and there). Overall, I love CalorieCounter and use it all the time! I just do think there are some things that could be added/fixed.

Not accurate

CalorieCounter is great for helping you keep track of what you’re eating. I love that it links with the health app on my phone so my steps track over to CalorieCounter. The problem I have is that the nutritional info for most of the foods I eat are not accurate. The sodium will be missing or the carbs will be off. I need to keep a close eye on these things for health reasons. I have had to delete and manually add and “favorite” everything I eat. It’s very time consuming, but at least CalorieCounter keeps track of them and provides easy to read graphs that I can refer to daily.

Need to create

I would give this a 5 star rating if I could figure out a way to create a recipe and then add a serving to my diary. Adding 1/2 or 1/4 of each ingredient (depending on how many servings a recipe makes) is a real drag. There’s got to be a better way. Ok I heard back from the creators and they told me how to create a recipe, and it worked. I said I would give it a 5 star review and I have. My husband, who is 70, has lost a bunch of weight and we are trying to fix that. CalorieCounter has helped a lot. He is a total technophobe and he can use CalorieCounter all by himself. It’s a miracle.

Best Calorie Counter App

I have tried several calorie counter apps in the past, but none of them amount to this one. Other apps don’t account for fats, sugars, etc. Just Calories. CalorieCounter is FREE and counts everything! It tracks calories, fats, sodium, sugars, and so much more including water intake! Not to mention the large food database so you can easily track what you eat. If the barcode isn’t recognized, you can easily enter in the nutrition facts and have it saved for entering it in the future! Love CalorieCounter . If you’re unsure on downloading it or not, just do it, it’s totally worth it!

Excellent Weight Loss app

I rarely write reviews but this has to be the best weight loss app that I’ve used. It has a huge library of foods for tracking, plus you can add foods (all the nutritional info) or “Quick Add” with minimal info. I like that you can make “meals” and copy and paste. It has a ton of restaurants, too.

Apparently this is a U.K. app. I’m in America but there hasn’t been an issue. You can switch to European or American measurements.

There are a lot of apps that sync. I sync to my Apple Watch and you can “earn” more calories from exercise or turn that option off.

You can also change your plan based on your diet (low carb, low sugar, etc.).

I really can’t think of any flaws in CalorieCounter so far. During the trial period, I lost 5 pounds so I decided to subscribe. It’s MUCH cheaper than Weight Watchers and the flexibility reminds me of the old WW Points Plus program.

I say try it during the free trial and see if it works for you.

The Best

Calorie Counter may be the first food monitoring app that is very easy to use. I am actually doing it! I have tried so many of them. With just a few clicks, you can choose the food, the amount, and log it. I couldn’t find a particular food on CalorieCounter , so I contacted customer service. Not only did they find it for me, they got back to me with the answer in a very short time. I got the sense there was a real person answering too. I went ahead and bought a year’s’ subscription, which is a great deal. Highly recommended.

Nothing out there like it

I’ve been on eating Keto for only 3 weeks and have been searching for a program or app that would easily help me track all this stuff. Until CalorieCounter, nothing. I’m so thrilled with it during the trial period, cheapy that I am, I signed up for a year. VERY reasonable when you figure in the HOURS I previously spent looking all these foods up. OH! The best part is although it’s a UK app, they have absolutely everything in their food database, not weird stuff with a heavy dose of fast food, REAL daily eaten food! Thank you!

By

So much incorrect data

I have only been using CalorieCounter for 3 days now and I have had to correct nutritional information over 15 times already. The barcode scanner quit working after day 2. On some items it will not save your correction to the nutritional information either. I have had to re-enter items total parameters manually in order to simply change something like the serving size or sodium amount. You have to read everything on every item you scan, so far about 40% are wrong in some way or another. You would think that what you’re paying for is for someone to proofread information and make sure CalorieCounter is storing the correct information.

Mgreen

I had to lose weight due to having MS and I was walking a thin line to also becoming diabetic. I looked and tried everything and other apps and found CalorieCounter and gave it a try.. what a blessing and the most important thing with CalorieCounter is being able to scan barcodes and getting the right oz or cups.
I have lost 80lbs and I use it to keep my weight in check. What a godsend with CalorieCounter. Thank you to those who developed CalorieCounter and please keep it going.

App would be amazing but..

I’m an eleven year old who is 5’1 and around eighty to ninety pounds, i wanted CalorieCounter because i have begun to develop the want to become healthier, so not eat as much unhealthy foods, and regulate my calorie intake. But CalorieCounter doesn’t allow me to sign up because i’m eleven, and i can’t do anything even with a fake age because i can’t choose the option to loose weight, because even though i sound skinny i’m relatively a bit pudgy. So i am not able to even use CalorieCounter for what i would like to use it for, i would love to see an app that is kid friendly so i can stay healthier. Overall CalorieCounter would have most likely been amazing (judging by other reviews) but i can unfortunately not use it.

Great

As far as I can tell, this is much easier than online WW. So much easier to find and track your food, plus so much more.... Haven’t found anything that I am unhappy about. The picture gallery that comes up when you search for a food selection is awesome!!!!!! Compare $40+ a month at WW to $19+ for 1 year !!!!

By

Great app

Very user friendly and a reasonable price. I love how well it syncs with my watch and is displayed on the main page.
I would love to see the developers add more fasting options like 16:8 option which would also incorporate a timer to allow tracking windows of fasting and eating.

By

Very easy to use!

I’ve had experience with several nutrition trackers and this one is by far the easiest. I have not yet tried to build my own recipe, but the selection of food choices, with pictures, so far has met my needs.

Does anyone know how to enter steps per day manually...not with a FitBit? That is the only thing so far I’ve needed and can’t find,

By

Nutracheck

Best food tracker I have found. Their list of foods for tracking is extensive. Tracking is fast and saving you favs is easy. Just subscribed a week ago and I lost 2.5 lbs at my TOPS(Take Off Pounds Sensibly) Group. I showed CalorieCounter to everyone. I singed up for $2 a month. Others are much more. Great app

Best one I’ve found

I’ve tried quite a few other calorie counting apps, and subsequently wasted a lot of money. The first day I used this one, I was hooked. It’s simple to use, and has a LOAD of restaurants listed! Even ones that are local! So glad I found this!

DMG EASY TO USE

CalorieCounter allows me to keeps a very close count of what I am eating throughout the day. It also gives me a chance to plan future meals so not to go over my daily limit.
I really like it and it makes it easy to write down what you eat.

By

Loved it at first, then I noticed a big glitch

I noticed recently that if I select an item, manually enter the weight (grams or ounces) the calories calculate on the screen. Then when I choose a meal to add it to (Breakfast/Lunch/Dinner/Snack), the item is added with the correct weight but with a much lower calorie count. Please fix this! It doesn’t happen if I choose a predefined measurement, only if I manually enter the weight. Other than that I love CalorieCounter!

By

Waytomuchchristmas

I love CalorieCounter. It keeps me on track. All though I have just quit smoking and I didn’t realize how fast the 10 lbs came on. Now that all this Christmas is over. It’s time to track everything. Here’s to the new year of getting healthy!!

By

Best overall calorie tracker

I was on Nutrisystem but had to stop due to the sodium content. CalorieCounter not only let me keep track of the calories, but also the total sodium intake for the day.
It also enables me to see what specifically I ‘m eating.

By

3 pounds in 1 weeek

Well I lost 3 pounds in the first full 7 days of using this. I didn't realize how many calories I was consuming in a day. I decided to get this paid version of CalorieCounter because it's so useful I'm using a walking app so I can add my active exercise so I can make sure I burn more calories than I consume.

By

Helps me stay the course

CalorieCounter really helps me stay the course. I love all the options like the exercise part and how it counts my water. The one thing it misses the ability of find calories of meals at chain restaurants. That one element missing keeps this from being a 5 star to me.

By

Typical subscription app

Gives you just enough to see the usefulness along with ads and then offers your subscription in order to keep using to the extent that you’re using – when did apps become nothing but subscriptions?! I don’t want your subscription service - I’m willing to look at ads or I’m willing to pay you money for a ONE TIME charge.

By

Great Weight Gain/loss tool

I need to put on 20lbs per Doctor. I’ve been using CalorieCounter for a week. It has a great presentation. It’s easy to see how many calories I have remaining for the day and how many calories I’ve burned via the Fitbit tie-in.

By

Awesome

The only way to lose weight is to know what you are eating and to log it. This is an exceptional app in that it logs exercise accurately and uses an algorithm to help you reach your goal. Effective and simple to use

By

Great app when it works

I have tried many food trackers this Was the best 7day trial I have used. I wanted to purchase the full month However every time I try to it crashes and shuts down.
Bummer. I can’t really rate the full app without being able to actually access it.
