Buggy as all get-out

Two years after writing this review unfortunately nothing has changed. I also see others commenting on the unreliability of HeartMath's extremely expensive but poorly made hardware. To plug in the sensor, connect it up and be told "No heartbeat detected" is supremely frustrating - the exact opposite of the relaxed experience HeartMath sells for big bucks. To have to replace a $125 sensor every year or so to maintain a product is not an option especially when the hardware costs HeartMath about $5. Shameful.

When it works (on my iPhone) it's great. But for the past 4 months, every time I've tried to use Inner Balance, it crashes after about 4-5 minutes, taking my session data with it. I wouldn't recommend any of HeartMath's products. The software is poorly written and the hardware doesn't last. I've had lots of problems with their emWave2 as well as it's software simply not work as it should. Good ideas; extremely poor execution which renders their products virtually useless. As HeartMath charges a pretty penny for their products I wouldn't recommend any of it as it's extremely poor value for the money.

Wanted to Love It

This device and app were recommended to me by my naturopath. I had high hopes for it after using a device in his office and seeing how well it could work, but when I got my first sensor it just didn’t seem consistent. The times of high and low coherence seemed completely random, and were confirmed when I took the sensor off to troubleshoot and it continued “reading” my heart rate. I returned the monitor and was sent a new one. This one seemed slightly better, but still loses signal frequently, as I can see when using InnerBalance and the line is more faded. I started feeling again lately like the times of high and low coherence were random, and decided to wear both the HeartMath sensor and my husband’s Apple Watch at the same time. The readings are wildly different, and when my BPM lowered on the watch to say, 58, the HeartMath monitor would shoot up to 108. The heart rate variance on the Apple Watch is much more believable and consistent. I tried the sensor on both ears as well as the webbing bEtween my thumb and index finger. I may contact the company once more, but at this point I’m ready to give up on it.

This product is too expensive to work this poorly

I had used the wired version for a while until it just stopped working after a month of use, so I was hoping for a better result with the Bluetooth version. It doesn't pair with the iPhone or the iPad mini. I've deleted InnerBalance and reloaded it, reset it, turned the machines off and on and it doesn't do anything. Doesn't even pick up on the new wired version that I have. Since the settings have NA for devices, I can't make it forget all devices. There really should be better instructions since this doesn't set itself up automatically. How often do we need to charge this? How do we know when it's fully charged? Does the LCD change color when it's fully charged, or when it's paired, or when its low? Even though I had it plugged in for three hours last night, I have it plugged in again to see if maybe there's a difference between plugging it in an outlet and plugging into a computer. Very disappointed

App design causes anxiety, needs new approach

I wish the designers made InnerBalance more like Calm or Stoic instead of framing the points system and challenge modes. Not being able to gain high coherence because I’m dealing with psychological and long term stress is constantly hovering over me while trying to breathe. Even the how-to videos stress the points system and sharing your results to Facebook. It doesn’t do anything to help you stop and focus on taking care of yourself, or making it so that calming down is about you, not about arbitrary points.

Maybe it’s just me but I have a difficult time using InnerBalance because of the marketing and design. It’s set up to make you want to get more points per session, gain awards, and get on the leaderboard, plus share your achievements with your faceobook friends to show off how wonderful and calm you are.

Behind The Times

This is absolutely one of (if not the) best app to reduce stress of all kinds and be introduced to a way of living and feeling that is truly from the heart. It requires the purchase of a sensor. What I don’t understand is why there isn’t an option to use the Apple Watch, especially for a Bay Area company. Steve Jobs would have been all over InnerBalance. I sure hope it isn’t about the revenue from the sensor, just make the option to use the Watch-as-sensor an in-app purchase and make your money. It will be much less costly than manufacturing and selling hardware and open up a new audience, those not interested in buying and managing another device. $9.99 to buy the Watch portion, or just call it ‘premium’ like all the other developers. Or, even though I am loathe to the subscription model, charge $3.99/month.

Good App - Hardware is awful

I love heartmath (inner balance). I’ve been using it for two years. Unfortunately, the device that monitors your heart rate is very low quality and it looks like I’ll have to replace mine again soon. At $160 a pop, it’s more than I want to spend on this program. The Safe and Sound Protocol is so much more effective for that kind of price. Specifics on device trouble: The first one broke within a few weeks - the clip on it broke. It wasn’t that big of a deal, I just let it hang off of my ear. Then, after about a year, it just fell apart into pieces. I bought another one and it is already malfunctioning after only a few months of use. This one stopped turning off and then stopped working within a couple of days. I can start a session but it only lasts about a minute before there’s a detection error. Incredibly disappointing.

A Gift For All

I love doing my HeartMath sessions. I truly feel a certain peace that is so serene and beautiful. I feel present in that time. It helps me to be more present and loving throughout the day in my interactions with others even more so than just in my own trying to maintain a positive outlook. Especially when things get a little tough in life. I would like to add more time and more sessions when I can figure that out in my schedule. I wish everyone had the gift of doing practices like this. It would raise our collective consciousness and everyone would be happier. I also hope for everyone to have the gifts of therapy, yoga (I’m trying to get that started for the same reasons that HeartMath brings) and honestly May Pilates gives me a little off that same peace while working out (Mari Winsor is my favorite). Also check out Tom Campbell and Dr. Ellen Langer if you can - great work and information for our betterment and enjoyment of this temporary “physical” life. Love, peace and joy to you!💜💕💫

Merging tech and meditation

This is the ultimate biofeedback tool. And this is coming from someone who has been trying to meditate consistently for at least 10 years to no avail. As a behavioral health scientist, I’ve understood the benefits of meditation to my well-being. However, I have not had the capacity really to sit and stay until now. Heart math science gamifies meditation for me. It gives me something to focus on. Inherent goals to reach during my session. This makes it fun for me, which makes starting so much easier. It was just what I needed to get back to myself and still helps now. Highly recommend.

Best tool for anxiety

I’ve had the inner balance lighting sensor for about 5 years now. It was recommended to me and I’m so happy I’ve found it. I’ve used it with all of the iPhones I’ve had over the years, 5, 5c, 6, 7plus and have never had a technical issue with InnerBalance or accessory. Sometimes it’s hard to get into a mood where you can focus on it InnerBalance and succeed. I notice when I turn off sounds and only use the screen where it does the circular pattern I get way more benefits. I love the feeling I get after where I feel so relaxed and positive. I’d recommend this as a gift to anyone who struggles with anxiousness or stress. Once you get into it, the benefits are amazing!

Inner balance efface

I have been using this device for 5 days ☀️☀️☀️☀️☀️now and have accomplished staying focused on my highest Love vibration for 5 min . I am finding it easier to get into this zen state the more I practice . The Benidict’s of this exercise equate to me managing my world and the world around me and the way I react to other humans energy fields . I can remain in high vibration there fore creating a happy day 😊🌞

I have found that expanding my time of practice to 10 min has brought more focus and purpose to creating the power of my subconscious mind , to create desired out comes in my daily life and Busness as well as my spiritual connection to God ⚡️❤️🙏🏾

Gain Control of Your Inner World Finally.

InnerBalance has helped me find AND understand my emotions. I can finally practice what emotions I choose to feel as I encounter life’s ups and downs. I am no longer a slave to inner turmoil. I can now walk away from that and be in the moment. I couple InnerBalance with the Heart Math Experience videos and I have the small techniques that I need to change any low points I experience during the day and can switch how I want to feel. This then gives me the opportunity to choose a more productive path emotionally and physically change what actions I take to make better choices and outcomes for my life.

Great for PTSD

I’ve struggled with CPTSD for over 3 years now. I’ve tried over 10 different medication, talk therapy, DBT, CBT, TMS devices, and a whole lot of other things. All failed. This, along with meditation and exercise has provided such relief. I have a long way to go, and will likely struggle with aspects of the disorder for life, however, this device has been beyond helpful in my inner journey to recovery. Anyone who struggles with a mental health condition or is simply looking to further their peace of mind could greatly benefit for InnerBalance & device.
Just like any form of therapy, it takes consistency and time for results to appear and this device is no different. When they do though, you will know.

A friend

Hi!I’ve been with heartMath+inner balance for a year now and I can confidently say if I were to practice with more commitment and regularity my health and any other issues I have in life would be non existent. It’s important to set aside an hour or so in the very early hours of the morning for meditation and if it is not possible for anyone to switch off the tv/computer/etc really early in the evening desired results cannot be achieved. Meditation is a discipline. We can create our own but it’s even better to remember, “early to bed and early to rise will make you healthy wealthy and wise.” I’m still on level one, basically because I cannot be regular, but I certainly haven’t given up.

Brain repair

I was seeking help for ADHD and improving social connections. My interpretation of others tended towards anticipation of rejection or disapproval and I came to learn that was due to less oxygen getting to specific brain areas. At the same time I began InnerBalance daily and very quickly I navigated some big stressors ( on the scale) with grace and compassion. Years of trying to understand were suddenly revealed and seen with new eyes- the heart’s “eyes”. Vagal nerve activated and social connections accessed in ways not so accessible before. I’m going forward with this organization. They’ve opened an avenue to humanity that those of us interested in science, psychology and physiology can delight in!

Life Changing Experience !!!!!

I’ve been using Heart Math for years now and absolutely love it!!! It’s such a life changing practice that measures up to meditation. I incorporate it into my breath work and meditation practice and I feel like I can accomplish anything. I highly recommend Heart Math to anyone looking to change their lives for the better. Just a few minutes a day can calm your mind, bring your heart and brain into coherence, and bring you on the right track. It’s so incredibly how a clip attached to your ear for 10-15 minutes a day is so convenient and easy to bring about immediate change. Compound the exercises by incorporating it into your daily routine can up your mental wellbeing…

InnerBalance is super easy to use, no update needed, and no subscriptions. I think Heart Math has been changing the world since it’s invention. I’m so grateful to share my experience and hope it helps someone else. 5 stars!!!!

Great technology which measures your HRV performance

I have been exploring his mind and body work for many years. Trying to learn how to meditate properly so it has a real effect on my mind and body. Came across Dr Joe Dispenza and HearthMath Institute researchers and found this tool. It’s such a powerful way how to help to learn how to mediate properly and advance for me, because it gives you real time data where you can really measure if you are doing the meditations right or not.

I find this tool super helpful and effective and recommend it to anyone who’s seriously interested in learning how to meditate, how to control your inner state, how to learn how to heal and live better quality of life with your own inner strength and power.

The tool is also very user friendly and easy to learn to work with. I like InnerBalance , it’s well done. I love you can safe all your sessions, track every second of meditation and make notes.

There are various types of challenges and helpful tips on how to improve yourself in meditation and in getting your mind and heart into coherent state.

Thank you for this tool, it’s great!

Gold mine ✨

I have been a HeartMath Coach for 4 years and have used my desktop version of the inner balance as well as the blue tooth version. I cannot express what an advantage it is to have them to achieve new and higher baselines of Coherence, I enjoy all the features they have for achieving results all the way from the breathing pacer to the iCloud platform that allows for sharing of results. I have heartmath clients who live abroad and having the ability to know through the iCloud how they are doing is such an added value. It is a must have for daily use for me. Every day I realize how much my coherence contributes to the whole and that brings me joy. It also motivates me more to share Heartmath with the world. Eva C Calderón

Amazing and enlightening

I would recommend inner balance to anyone and everyone - it is a remarkable tool. I have been using heart energy for many many years but only occasionally, originally had freeze frame but had stored it away years ago during multiple Geographic moves; after some intense stress and trauma the last year and a half that had adversely affected my body, I remembered Heartmath and found Inner Balance which I have been using for a few days now. I am pleased to say that I am able to hold coherence for most of the time, and I am also stunned to find how quickly that coherence is affected when even a very quick negative thought passes through my mind, or any feeling of grief or longing. Inner balance is an outstanding tool to transform my life.

Amazing Tool!

I have been using the HeartMath desktop version which I love and I’m grateful that the Inner Balance App offers a lot of the same features. My favorite screen is the one that shows your coherence as a numeric score. I find this helpful to see what score comes with the slow, rhythmic breathing and how that changes when positive emotion is added to it.

One thing that has been especially great in using the HeartMath technologies is that I am becoming more used to being in a coherent state and it’s starting to feel strange when I feel stress and now I catch any moments quickly and can then shift them.

Thanks for creating great stuff HeartMath!!!
