I tried to change the size of Dutch Oven. It was stuck on the 6 inch. Very disappointed, I had high hopes so my grandson could learn. I’ve cooked for years so I can do by memory. He still needs help. 😢

There are no briquette numbers after the latest update. App is currently completely useless and will be deleted shortly to find another that works.
I like the info, but scroll does not work when finger is on scroll but does when far left on scroll or on most of scroll wheel to left. A bit annoying. Fix this and it will be a solid app.
I don’t know if you can improve on such a great app, unless there is a way to take into account the outdoor temperature and wind chill. I don’t have empirical evidence to prove this but I believe it impacts temperature and cook time.
The answers disappear in dark mode. Can only see the numbers in daylight mode

I have used DutchOvenHelper multiple times and with great success. Mostly when it comes to baking breads as temp control is pretty key for that. Granted, you can always look up the info online regarding coal numbers and placement, but it's killer having it all in a little free app on your phone. Highly recommend it.
This is, simply put, a quick and easy way to get the right amount of coals for your exact cooking situation. The developer responds very quickly and positively to feedback. I'll be happy to keep using this great addition to my cooking tools.

needed to get my coal count accurate and your app helped a lot! most information only went to 350 degrees F so higher temp baking wasn’t an option. I will be letting my DO cooking group know about DutchOvenHelper!

I have had the “formula” in my head for years. But DutchOvenHelper is great for getting new guys started. Friends watched me cook and wanted to join in I hardly have to cook anymore

I highly recommend DutchOvenHelper. I used it while camping. Its recommendations worked well for me. No limitations on internet connection which is great for camping. I followed its advice for charcoal briquettes with my GSI anodized aluminum Dutch oven (also highly recommended) to bake some cornbread. It came out fantastic.
Handy little app, use it to check my coal counts and placement. I hope they add the 10 inch deep size soon.
