I’m traveling India solo and tried this app today at a nice Indian man’s suggestion. I really needed help in finding affordable accommodation in Shillong after battling an overnight train ride with the flu. I chose the “pay at location” option and received confirmation of my reservation. Upon arriving in Shillong in very poor shape I called customer service as I had a feeling something was off. Sure enough, make my trip had canceled my reservation without even telling me. They said it was because they did not receive payment- when I actually chose the more expensive, pay upon arrival option and was given a confirmation. The app still says my reservation is good but customer service says it is cancelled but will be glad to reinstate the reservation for almost double the rate that I was promised. They put me on hold telling me a supervisor would be on the line any minute to help out. After fifteen minutes the line went dead. Now I am staying in an absolute hole of an Indian hotel room- shivering with cold. Makemytrip, the world must know about how you treat your clients... like complete dirt!
WORST CUSTOMER SERVICE. I booked my flight tickets and it was a connecting flight. My connecting flight got rescheduled without acknowledging me and it led to shorter layover for my next flight. So, what do I do now in this situation? I decided to call MMT customer care but their automatic answering machine isn’t designed to handle queries for customers who have already booked the tickets. You can cancel and perform date change via online on the app ONLY. There is no way your call goes through to the representative. However, I found a way and got to a representative but they say we will get back to you on the phone number you gave us and no one called after that. Also, the people don’t transfer calls to the appropriate departments as they say it’s against their policies. How is this against the company’s policies if you are trying to help a customer who is using your platform to book tickets? Aren’t you responsible for it? It’s one of the worst and pathetic service and would not recommend it to anyone.
App review: I was able to book flights and outstation cabs fine until recently. The My Trips portion stopped showing up after I raised a refund request (mind you, this still worked from home within another app called PhonePe). This continued to not work even after I reinstalled the app a couple of times. Service review: The biggest problem is their service and refund policies. The airline canceled my flight and MMT keeps the convenience fee. This is close to 10% of my total booking for 3 people. During the pandemic, I think the only way for MMT to survive seems to be through flight cancellations. I recommend everyone go directly through the airline websites. I sincerely do not know how this practice is legal. Paying for MMT Black is another wasted aspect of things 1) they unilaterally cancel its benefits during the pandemic 2) they keep any membership fee you’ve paid for it. Untrustworthy to their core.
