Worst customer service ever !!!!’

They’ve blocked my account for nothing although I’ve been using Getaround since 2018 back days when I was in California and now more often I travel to Paris and Europe and they’ve blocked my account as they need a proof of a selfie with my driving license plus residency card !!!!! This is so annoying although my credit card plus my ID submitted Years ago ! And all of them under my name but they’re still asking for this stupid selfie 🙂 use TURO way much better with professional customer services ✨
Regarding verifying system as they’ve mentioned just to make it clear I’ve been using Getaround since 2018 🙃 and this week they’ve blocked me as they need my selfies !!!! With the driver license plus the residence card !! Regarding the residence card there’s a lot of countries they don’t have it & I’m a world traveler so shall I provide you my hotel accommodations ??? 🤨 again since 2018 I’m using it once it has been switch to get-around thing it turned to a disaster so please avoid it guys.

Way more time consuming and difficult than just regular rental experience

I tried to rent a car in Paris where I have lived for 6 years. The rental was accepted, card was debited. Then I get a message saying I have to verify myself. I go through the steps of sending a photo of my drivers license, French identity card etc. I get a message saying that my profile needs to be verified manually within 2 hours and more documents are needed. I send the documents. It wasn’t fun taking selfies of my face with my drivers license, passport, proof of address etc.. how many documents are needed to verify someone ?? I even had to send them a video of me moving around. Anyway I get no resolve after 2 hours. I finally call customer service. Obviously they can do nothing but relay my message. I finally get a message of the cancellation of my rental with no explanation of why my profile was not verified. Terrible service and waste of time.

Be careful SCAM !

I rented a this app car for two weeks while I was in Paris. Everything was great until I perfectly returned the car with the keys inside as planned (I have the photos of the car returned).
They waited for me to leave a 5stars review then one month later the owner of the vehicule contactes me saying than he couldnt find the key.
I was surprised by the delay since his probably was supposed to be rented since that and explained him than the keys was inside as planned.
Then one more month later this app took me 945$ of penalties on my bank account without notice or proof of the owner who probably lied ! I contacted them many times. They never answered !!

The worst car rental experience in my life

Avoid this company ... they would charge you extra and hidden fees and they don’t stop when you are done with the rental. I got the car 80% gas and returned the car full tank and they charged me for 3% less gas! A week after my rental ended they charged me smoking and cleaning fee, I’m not a smoker and returned the car super clean but apparently the owner decided falsely claiming remaining of smoking and trash to claim cleaning fee to make some extra bucks and they charged me ... will never use their service again

Not for last minute travel!!!

I am really disappointed in Drivy, I booked for a last minute trip, it accepted my payment but is not verifying my profile despite sending all the requested documents and more and it has been over 24 hours, no one picks up on the numbers including emergency numbers and it has already cost me so much in international calls. Furthermore I can’t cancel as it will charge me 50%. My entire trip is ruined when I could have just taken the bus or train !

no US credit cards ??

booking the car from this app was easy until I got to the payment: none of my US credit cards would work. I called my credit card company and they told me, that they can see the charge attempts, they would approve the charge and then this app would cancel the transaction

I tried to use PayPal, but that didn’t work either: you need a verified PayPal account - no idea what that is, and I’ve never needed one. there is no phone number for this app anywhere, no chat, and emails were returned as undeliverable.

so: terrible customer service!

(in the end I had to link a bank account to PayPal to get the payment process working)

TERRIBLE CUSTOMER SUPPORT 😡

This a just a startup company that have a lot of work to do on their customer support. We rented a car through the service and the owner canceled the contract 12hrs before we were to meet him, not even giving a reason for the cancelation. “That happens” was our only consolation from support, with no help to get a different rental. I would not recommend this service until they have a better grasp on customer care.

The UK version of Getaround needs to be better localised (a lot is still showing Euros €) and some major features are done via a web still (locking/unlocking) instead of within Getaround .

WORST experience ever!! 👎👎👎

This is definitely NOT the same customer experience as this app in the US.

I’m a US citizen living in France with a 4-year resident permit and a valid drivers license, yet this app France says my official resident permit given to me by the French government is not valid/expired. And they give me no way to get in touch with them directly.

Very bad service

I love this app in the US and have used it many times. The European side of their business does not have the same standards at all. If you have any issues they will be impossible to get in touch with and will not solve the problem. Such a disappointment

Be careful

Be careful, gateround has a terrible customer service with no phone number or contact info and take directly money on your card after rentals without hearing anything you have to say. Big red flag

Declined

I requested two cars in Nice two days ahead and was declined. No reason provided. I deserve a reason. Very unreliable method of renting a car. I will stick with Renault Mobility for France. I couldn’t leave feedback for the owner, so I hope there are penalties for the owners in this situation.

Not respecting the region settings

The currency, and location of Getaround are based on the language part of the locale. The region is completely ignored, hence Getaround is defaulting to UK, and pounds even though I’ve set my phone region to France

Worst company ever

I have had the absolute worst experience using get around.

I rented a car with get around starting the 30th, we get to the car with my two sons who are 9 months and 3 years old, and the car already looks very dirty but I guess thats just a detail and not that important, I get in the car and turn it on and I start realizing the car had some kind of a problem, I start driving it get on the highway and almost risked my life because the car would not go fast than 50 miles per hour, it would break on its own and the motor would make a really bad noise. I was scared for my kids and my life driving this car. I parked the car in a safe spot and from there started the worst day of my life, it was impossible to get any of your agent on the phone as the automated system did not recognize my phone number even though it was linked to my reservation and for some reason did not recognize my reservation number as well, it took me 1 hour to get someone on the phone, after that an other hour to finally get transferred to road side assistance, my calls would drop and even though they knew the whole situation i would receive no calls back. I finally got someone from road side assistance on the phone that tells me “we are sending a tow truck and you will get a text message with all the information”, I never received a text message but did receive the tow truck. The tow truck parked and asked me “what do I do with car”, I certainly thought roadside assistance or get around would have send a tow truck with clear directions but apparently not. And there goes another hour on the phone trying to find someone that could help us, no one knew how to help us and kept on telling us that the tow truck driver would know when he absolutely did not, after a an hour negotiating, we finally have a solution: a taxi will pick you up where you are and take you to Europcar where you’ll have a new car waiting for you. We waited about 2 hours for the taxi, we finally get someone on the phone again after calling about 5 more times and kept on hearing the taxi is on its way, only to found out they never had our location to begin with so never sent the taxi (keep in mind this is in the middle of summer in Madrid so extremely hot , with 2 kids, suitcases, car seats, no where to go or wait since we kept on hearing the taxi is arriving). The taxi arrived and we are on our way to europcar, which I got told maybe 6 times I had a reservation with. We arrived at Europcar I give my name and last name and the lady tells me there so no reservation under my name, I could not believe it, we call again, I explain the whole situation again to a new agent which he assures me yes it is europcar, he even gives me the reservation number, the lady at Europcar tells me its impossible that this is a Europcar number. I call once again, have to explain the whole story again, they put me on hold for another 10 minutes only to find out it was never Europcar but Enterprise, I had to walk another 1.5 km to the right place, again with my 2 young kids, suitcases, car seats, stroller etc and then finally at around 8pm got the replacement car. I wasted an entire day of vacation because of this.

Overall, the irresponsibility of the owner of the car for putting a car that is incredibly dangerously broken out of rent, the way get around agents were un helpful and actually pretty rude (please listen to the recording of the phone calls) , and the roadside assistance that were not only incapable and plain stupid.

The fact that get around was completely fine with leaving a woman her 2 young kids, out in a city, with absolutely no follow up, no help, not once has someone contacted me to make sure roadside assistance was able to help, not once has anyone reached out to make sure I got the replacement car.

Their automated service also just doesn’t work, I wasn’t able to get through anyone with my phone number or my reservation number.

If you are looking to rent a car, or put your car up for rent, I promise you get around is not worth it.

Great app, great idea

This is a really cool app. I would like to see more options in the filter selection in future updates, especially the "manual" or "automatic" transmission selection. This will be a lot easier for drivers who come from outside France.

Love this app!

It’s awesome to use if you live in a city and don’t have a car to rent from this app. I love using this app for driving three to four hours away for a weekend getaway. Everything about Getaround was easy, clear and convenient to use. I also trust the entire rental and payment process, nothing confusing or weird. I’ve had an all around great experience and I plan to use this app more and more in the future !
