This audio tour is more an appetizer than the real thing money will buy at the entrance of the archeological ruins. To begin you should expect to spend less than 3 hours touring through Pompei and Steve’s only give you 39 min, but since it’s only in English and if you’re visiting with someone not anglophone you’re companion will benefit from a more complete guided solution and also easier to customize according to your specific interests since you’ll punch in the numbers related to each site on the map steve readily it’s impossible to do without. Another benefit not using this guide is you won’t have to put up with American centric jokes which do not add to the experience. When in Roma... and same goes for the recommended list of restaurants in Steve guide, you’re much better off asking locals where the eat than showing off you Steve
guide hoping to shave a few $ from your bill.

Very pervy comments made me and many others I was with uncomfortable. Not suitable for kids. I had to stop listening a few days into our trip because the comments made me very uncomfortable. The basis of information was nice, but he went on and on about certain useless information and sexual innuendos. Very unnecessary and puts a damper on the beautiful sights and art you come to see. Also, a lot typical routes one might take in certain sights, he would go the complete opposite and inconvenient ways. Definitely avoid Colosseum, The David, and Eiffel Tower tracks. Those had my skin crawling. Creepy old dude needs a new profession.

I use RickStevesAudioEurope and the self-guided tours a few years ago and it worked great. Now the audio shuts off as soon as my iphone screen locks. Didn’t have this problem previously and don’t have this issue with other apps. Can’t find any information to fix it.

RickStevesAudioEurope contains really useful guided city walks and I have used it many times while traveling. Unfortunately a recent update made it so you cannot zoom in on the maps anymore which makes navigating difficult.

My partner and I took a trip to Italy this past summer, and this guide was such an important part of our vacation. The guide had episodes for all of the major cities we visited, as well as particular ruins and sites within the cities. They never seemed too long, always giving just enough information, and allowed us to skip around however we pleased. The maps were also extremely helpful. My favorite were the walking tours around the city, easy to follow and doable. Some pieces were a tad outdated but otherwise we loved it. This audio guide not only saved us money, but also supplemented our trip perfectly. Highly recommend for anyone heading to Europe!!

I only just discovered Rick Steve’s marvelous series of travel books, which are extremely good. But I’m stupefied by the huge volume of very high-quality material available on RickStevesAudioEurope for free.

After listening to just an hour of commentary about my destination, I can hardly wait to pay close attention to every minute of it.

Looking at the chapter names for the “Notable Travelers” section makes me want to clear my calendar to devote all my time to hearing it.

I will use RickStevesAudioEurope for every country he covers, if I live long enough, plus the man’s books.

All the users of this great app owe a big debt to Rick Steve.

I’m addition to tours, it also has some of the radio interviews he had. Rick Steves is the best. His app is amazing, his commentary is great, downloading is not at all a problem, and RickStevesAudioEurope could not be better. Packed with insight and historical facts, this made him better than Anthony Bordain (who did food). Rick is the best!

I absolutely LOVED the “city walk” tours on RickStevesAudioEurope. I used it in every location on my last trip - Paris, Munich, Vienna and Prague. Felt like we were on a private tour for FREE! And you can download each tour so you don’t have to use data and get charged for international fees :) all you need is a pair of headphones!

I love RickStevesAudioEurope and try to get all my friends to download it when they visit Europe. The directions are so simple to follow, and it’s as good as a paid city tour, but for completely free. What an awesome resource- thank you to Rick Steve’s for making this available. I also appreciate all rick’s dad jokes 😂

As a college student backpacking Europe for a month, I needed to stay under budget but still wanted to have a great experience! RickStevesAudioEurope is even better than the expensive and overpriced tours, and you can go at your own pace! I can’t stress enough just how awesome Rick Steves is. Probably my icon hahahah

I'm traveling Europe right now and I have to say, RickStevesAudioEurope is giving me a great time. It provides basic history and information about all the main sites in a city in just about the right pace. I am enjoying RickStevesAudioEurope so far and it is totally worth downloading for any traveler. Remember, it's free!

I’ve used it in Rome, Florence, Lisbon and Madrid. Even if you book a tour and ride the hop-on/off bus you still need RickStevesAudioEurope. Plenty of useful info that can absorbed at ones own pace. Some of the low ratings were for technical issues and user errors. The content is terrific!

My husband and I went to Italy and also stopped in Paris on the way home. We used Rick’s audio tours the entire time. We loved them and found them so useful. We only use Rick’s guidebooks too, call us biased but we believe him to be the best of the best for European travel. 😊

This audio guide has saved us so much time, research, and money. We are currently on a cruise and not only did these audio guides save us at least $50 pp so far, but it's the ease of use and Rick's insights that have truly enhanced our vacation. I highly recommend RickStevesAudioEurope and will be using it in my future travels without question.

My boyfriend and I used RickStevesAudioEurope on our trip to Rome, and it made a huge difference in our trip quality. Rick does a great job not just of explaining the significance of what you’re looking at, but also of explaining directions and keeping up morale. We did almost every tour Rick had to offer, and they all were in depth, interesting, and fun! I can’t recommend RickStevesAudioEurope enough!

Let me star off my saying I can’t believe these are free. These audio tours contain wealths of information. When you sign up for a tour at a site in Europe, you are taking a crap shoot as far the the guide. They can have broken English and not be that informed. Also, if you miss something the guide says, it’s gets tiring to keep asking him to say it again...that is what the 20 second back button in RickStevesAudioEurope is for! Thank you Rick Steve’s for making my solo Europe trips so much more enriched!

Rick Steve’s was on the trip with us! We saved so much money and time using his tours and really valued RickStevesAudioEurope! Thank you so much for developing it and making our travel experiences so much better.
We used apple air pods so we could listen together while walking through Italy and it truly felt like our personal guide! We learned history, had levity with jokes, and got tips on where to go. We also used his guidebook for suggestions on eateries and that’s how we found this free app.

Not one to usually write a review for an app, but had to for this one. Used it just about a month ago for a trip to Rome and Paris with my husband. Wow! We felt like we were on a private tour without having to pay for one! And Rick's radio episodes were also very helpful to understand the culture and find hidden treasures sightseeing. Also own guidebooks by Rick Steves that went oh so well with RickStevesAudioEurope. I only wish something like this was done for other parts of the world, including US.
Tip: get good wire-free headphones to use between you and your better half - you'll really feel like you are on a private tour!

I travel a lot for work, and often get a few fun layovers or extended vacations in some fun places in Europe. The first time I visited Paris and this time (now that I have RickStevesAudioEurope !), were totally different experiences. It’s nice to walk by and admire things, but to get to know the history of locations, buildings and famous spots was a game changer. I was able to appreciate the cities I was in more knowing more about the culture and history. He takes you to the most important places and even takes you by historical cafés to enjoy local treats. It really was like having a free tour guide in every city I went to! 10/10 recommend!

Where do I start? Won’t say much...just get RickStevesAudioEurope and the book for the country you are visiting before and study before your trip. It will help you save lots of money and really experience your destination. Used RickStevesAudioEurope for my visit to Italy and saved money visiting Pompeii and numerous sites in Rome! Just save your pocket and get RickStevesAudioEurope and the guidebook
