Raggedy cars

I rented a 2020 Nissan Altima from Getaround one Saturday afternoon until Monday well the transmission ended up failing 7hrs into the trip I reached out to customer service (there’s not a phone #) for you to call regarding these people cars but I digress. Anyway the transmission went out so I drove it to my house they told me they wanted me to pay to have the car towed back to the owner and once he checked the car out I would maybe probably they weren’t for sure get a refund, My main issue was would I be able to get refunded because the car malfunctioned 7hrs into my trip it’s been a week and I haven’t even so much as received a email from them. I never received any information about this issue I was never refunded nor compensated for the issue regarding the transmission going out on the vehicle 7 hours after my rental started, I submitted pictures they even made me check the oil and send a picture I also risked my life driving the raggedy car back to the owner. I paid to have the car from Saturday until Monday morning but the car transmission failed 7 hours into the rental and NO ONE HAS REACHED OUT TO ME. I will be forwarding all emails between us to the BBB aswell as my attorney regarding this matter. Since this company has not tried to reach out to me. P.s all the cars in Dallas smell like weed

Update, so it’s been well over a week I haven’t heard anything back from this app, there is no phone number to call them and they will not respond to your emails.

DO NOT USE THIS SERVICE

I rented a car and took it about 100 miles to another town for a day trip. I refueled in said town and just as I put my foot on the brake the brake line pops. I call this app support (which you can only call them if you have an active reservation) and explain that my brakes no longer worked and she told me it must’ve been me needing brake fluid and that she had to call the owner so I can replace it. This was my 2nd customer service rep. After I inspected further I found brake fluid leaking and knew I had no brakes. Called my 3rd rep to try and repost that I cannot drive the car and she did not listen and said that I have to wait for confirmation to buy brake fluid to refill the car (customer service rep 3). So 4 hours later and 4 reps later I finally get told that they will call a tow truck and that I could go home and that everything will be handled. I waited 4.5 hours in total for help, got useless help from 6 different customer service reps, and they ended up towing the car 5 MINUTES DOWN THE ROAD from where it was broken down so I could’ve taken it there when the issues first started but no they didn’t wanna lose money. Oh yes and now that I’m trying to get a refund since this all happened on the first day of renting the car, it’s only through email you cannot call them if you don’t have a reservation. After I get my money back I will never us this service again and I’ll never recommend them to anyone

Terrible customer service and an a predatory Terms of Services.

I would not recommend Getaround to anyone. this app is a practice with very poor customer service—there are no addresses to refer to and no phone numbers, so the only way to contact them is through email.

this app and a car owner associated with them is currently withholding my wallet with important information inside from me. I dropped it in one of the vehicles my sister borrowed and, despite our efforts, the company insisted that we pay $866 to rent the car again, a raised price due to alleged damages that I have nothing to do with. This is included in their Terms of Services, yet I never agreed to any of that. I did not rent the vehicle nor have I used Getaround , yet the company continues to insist on an absurd payment for my property back. After conversing through emails, this app has decided that my sister, the renter, is no longer allowed to access the this app platform as a result of a “routine audit”. This happens during the support ticket for the retrieval of my wallet back. Meaning, if she did decide to attempt to rent the vehicle again for $866, this would no longer be an option, as she is prohibited from using the platform. I have tried contacting the company myself, but once they realized I was not the customer, they stopped emailing me. I am missing several items crucial to my identification yet this company does not care when they do not get their money.

Horrible Experience

We have been stranded 8hrs away from home at the Childrens Hospital since December for my sons life saving organ transplant. I decided to try this out for a day to grocery shop and get some things done during a birthday weekend. Getaround SEEMED to work seamlessly. There were a couple of cars near me to pick up so I reserved one several days before I needed to pick up. On day of pick up we got kiddo ready for his first exciting outing. ONE hour before we needed to pick the vehicle up, we received a message from the owner stating it was “non-operable” and “not available to rent currently”. We asked him to cancel on his end so we wouldn’t get dinged with a same day cancellation and he refused. He was rude and hung up never contacting us back after a couple attempts of trying. After calling the company’s customer service they said they would cancel on their end but it looked like the other 2 cars available were also “not available to rent”. I asked why vehicles are online that aren’t available to rent and never got a clear answer. It took a whole 9 days for the money to reimburse back to my account (money we needed to rent another vehicle- which we were then unable to do). Once the reimbursement came through, of course we LOST money in the end of it all. Horrible and shady company. I will stick with Lyft or Uber from now on.

Nifty Service, so-so App experience

Been a regular user of this service and am a big fan. There are a lot of vehicle options in Chicago area. The ability to access a car at any hour of the day/night is fantastic; much more useful than the traditional car rental service.

Not thrilled with the rental-end-of-trip experience as Getaround process is very inconsistent. The experience is pretty good when ending your trip early. You get to record your fuel level (handy because recently most of my rentals have not had a full tank at the beginning). When ending your trip at the end of your rental, Getaround navigation is crap. It doesn’t present the same end-of-trip options. Lastly, Getaround should let me rate my trip when I end my trip. But, no, it asks me to rate my last trip the next time I use Getaround —sometimes weeks or months later.

Make the trip end process consistent every time. Let the renter rate the car at that moment. And provide the renter the option to get credit if they actually fill up the car even though the car was not full at the beginning of the trip; this last feature would allow the rental community to improve the experience for everybody, other renters and even the car owners.

Don’t rent from them

I have spent more than a couple thousand on rentals with them in less than 2 months then last week when I was trying to to rent for another week which would make it my 3rd week they told me they stopped doing the weekly rentals to stop the spread of the corona virus which was bs it was just to charge people by the hour so they can make more they don’t care about the virus if they did they would just stop renting period so then they told me I could only rent it for 3 more days i only got it for one $76 so I could just take it back but then somethings came up and I need it for 2 more $140 paid it then they let me do it for a another day and another one and I did that because when I asked them when I would get my security deposit they said about a week which is to long since I have no income at the moment got laid off temporarily and government assistance is taking so long to come and then yesterday I had my daughters with me no one to watch them and I can’t take them out with virus rapidly spreading and no one to watch them and to come back on the bus with them from downtown LA to Inglewood so like I said they don’t care about there customers if you want to see for yourself go ahead i only did because I was tired of getting denied because of my bad credit

Zero stars would be better

The people that fix the errors of Getaround in customer service have to do everything because Getaround is so inaccurate and poorly designed. I got two cars with huge issues both times and I will never do it again. I almost lost my apartment they had on hold for me because it took me three extra hours to get there because Getaround had a car I reserved on it only for them to call me while I was getting dropped off by my Uber that the battery in that car was dead so I was stranded and had to wait while customer service processed my complaint. I have to wait a week until I get that trip refunded end so now that I’m about $40 deep I still am 2 hours late now and still no car so I had to spend even more on my Uber to get to the next closest car and also that Uber back to my house when I had parked it was so expensive because at that point I was somewhere random. I had to do something or loose my rental I tried all month to apply for and this car rental almost made me totally loose that opportunity. I’m actually baffled they have this many errors. No efficiency and very slow recovery if any recovery at all is made. I’d honestly take the bus next time. It would take just as long but be about $100 cheaper! Thanks!

Frustrating!

I’ve booked through other rental apps before, and it usually shows how many miles that comes with the car prior to charging you extra per mile. I looked at the details of the owners profile about the car and it never mentioned how many miles come with the car. I assumed it was unlimited mileage since nothing was listed about it, only to find out that once I booked is when it showed I only had 800 miles for 4 days of having the car. Worst part I can’t even contact the owner of the car regarding this issue, nor was there a number to call the actual company because it was no longer managed. I wanted to cancel the rental and rebook somewhere else, but I had a question regarding the security deposit given plus the refund of what I paid. I emailed customer service and obviously it’s going to take awhile to get back to me, and now that I’m looking at the cancellation they are only going to refund half the money I paid because although I wanted to cancel within the hour, I needed to speak to customer service because even if I got the refund I obviously would not get it back into my account to book another trip. It’s frustrating when you can’t contact them to actually speak with a representative of the company.

This company has gone downhill

I drive for Uber. I started getting cars from this app since October of 2019. I’m in the DC/MD/VA area. It started out great. Great customer service, decent cars, not a very good process of finding the car at the site. However, the last two months have been a nightmare. Multiple times I’ve went to pick up a car and it’s filthy, not working and/or has been broken into and glass everywhere inside the car. The problem with that is they know the condition of the cars and still have them available for rent. I would literally have to switch cars about 3 times until I found a decent car. And it takes a while to actually find a car because you have to walk around a car lot of hundreds of cars and search for the license plate number. That’s only if they even have any available cars. The customer service has gone down as well. I was once told by an agent “what do you want me to do about it” lol. When you’re spending $268 per week on renting a car, you shouldn’t have to go through this. And if you rent it daily it’s $76 per day. And this was an increase. I will not be returning to this app until they fix these issues. It isn’t worth the headache. Pics will be posted on google and yelp.

SCAM STAY AWAY!!

I tried this app a year ago and had a pretty good experience. The only problem was that once I rented a car and the cup holder was full of teriyaki sauce and it was really messy inside of the car when I picked it up. Anyways I referred a friend and he tried this app a couple times and apparently saw a $100 cleaning fee charge on his account. He had rented a Toyota Prius and apparently the owner claimed the car was dirty and that he needed to pay $100 to get it cleaned after my friend used the car. The funny thing is my friend rented the exact same car the next day and it was still dirty inside and the owner who rented the car was lying and committing fraud to make an extra $100 off of the renters. He called the company and they were no help at all and wouldn’t even admit the owner of the car was lying and cheating the customers. So anyways just a heads up to anyone who is attempting to rent a car from this company. You may be charged $100 for a cleaning fee or even a damage fee even if you are not responsible! I have proof of this and I am actually ashamed and embarrassed I referred a friend to this company who had This awful experience. Thanks this app for sucking! Maybe get better staff so you don’t have to deal with upset customers who gave you a chance.

Awful and dangerous experiences

I have rented two cars from get around and both had system malfunctions. The first one had a braking problem and the second had a dead battery. Besides the point that they should be screening their cars this wasn’t even the biggest problem I had. I can understand faulty cars but when there is a faulty car and you need to get somewhere their customer service should be available to help and those renting their car should be on standby. Neither of these things are true. The customer service is never available and I was left in the rain not being able to lock the car with the dead battery at 11 pm waiting to get put off hold for over an hour. Then when I left because it was dangerous and late they finally picked up my call and had the audacity to fine me for leaving the car. There was nowhere in the terms and service of their website that explained what to do in this situation but apparently I was supposed to assume that I had to wait with the car for four hours for a battery (that was not my fault that it died) to be fixed.

This company is so terrible. I never write reviews but if I can prevent just one person from the horrendous experiences that I have had then I will consider this worth while.

SCAM

Allen(I think that was his name he refused to tell me it) from customer service is the worst person I have ever spoken to. After using a car with this company they called saying I returned the car one mile in the wrong spot even tho the gps ON THEIR APP told me to park exactly where I did. I followed all the instructions then I get a call the next day saying they were going to fine me because it was in the wrong spot. When I offered to drive out there to move the car before they took those steps I told them it would take 20 min to get there since I was at work. At exactly 25 min later they called me saying I failed to show up (even tho I was on the way) and they were still going to charge me for not complying. This is the biggest scam I hve ever heard of I plan on reporting them to the BBB and might even get lawyers involved. They blocked me from entering my account now and they keeep asking for proof of things in my account YET THEY WONT UNBLOCK MY ACCOUNT so I can’t even login to show them proof. Their customer service was the rudest people I ever encountered. Never again using their services and I highly advise anyone else not to and to share the word. Their app Has glitches and they blame you for their own app glitches and then fine you. AVOID AT ALL COSTS

A customer for over 4 years and had enough of their poor user experience

this app has been our go-to option during the pandemic. It has worked well since we can remain socially distant and there are a lot of vehicle options around our neighborhood. Unfortunately their user experience on a few rides have sullied my trust for this company and will no longer be receiving my business and I implore for you to do the same as well.

On several occasions I have rented a car through their app only to find upon arrival the car MISSING. We would walk up and down all four directions to check with no luck. We would then have to call and be put on hold and have to speak with a representative for over 30 minutes to get reimbursed. All my plans for the day have basically been ruined from the lack of promptness necessary for them to remedy a COMMON issue.

We got our money back and some credit but we’re not going to subjugate ourselves to their poor business practices anymore. Don’t tell us you have a car at a location and not have it at the location. this app has lost us as customers and I’m filing a complaint to the BBB for their inaccurate app experience.

Be careful!

this app is a terrible company. They gave me some vouchers because they damaged my car while installing a device for Getaround . They kept my car for a month and a half and when they returned it it still was not the same as when they took it. To make up for it they gave me some vouchers to use whenever I needed to rent a car. When I finally decided to use them for a trip to San Diego from Los Ángeles to se a cardiologist I had been waiting to see for 6 months since I have an enlarged heart they wouldn’t let me use a voucher to extend the trip. I wasn’t close to my car where my wallet was and I asked that they wait till the morning to use my card since they neglected to tell me the voucher could only be used for new trips. That night they took the car that had my wallet, my heart medication and everything I had brought on my trip. They where aware that I was on the street with no wallet and most important with my medication and they did nothing. They had me wait from 10am to 9pm for a supervisor to call until I finally called and the rep plain and simple said they could do not a thing for me. I was stranded in San Diego, no wallet and no medication and not a place to spend the night. Real nightmare. Shame on you this app.

I'm very impressed with this App!

I just recently got a car from this app Miami and my experience was bittersweet - the first vehicle that I reserved was a Grand Cherokee Jeep - but it was not located where I was told to pick it up!

I had about 15 small boxes to load into the vehicle - but it was nowhere to be found! I was then connected to an F-150 but it was located 35 miles away from my Downtown Miami location.

Due to this mix-up - I was upgraded to a BMW X1 that was located near and it worked out just fine.

The problem is this - while I traveled to the X1 - just 10 minutes away from my location - random and homeless street people rummaged through my unattended boxes and belongings and stole much of my stuff!

My experience with the rider support team was beyond excellent. They are attentive and do everything to set things right.

The other MAJOR problem was that my first car of choice was a vehicle priced at $42 - the vehicle that I ultimately drove was $81 dollars. I'm hoping that this app will credit and adjust by costs and refund over $350 - by overcharging me for the use of a vehicle that I did NOT want - the price was double my budget!

Overall- my experience was great with the exception of being charged 2x more than what I wanted to pay.

The BMW X1 was just amazing. The host - Jonathan was also great!

I'm assuming that my overpayments will be credited back to me ASAP.

Getaround works great and the vehicle is a pleasure to drive.

Undisclosed fees, painful user experience

They charged a huge fee for going over a 200 mile per day cap that they never disclosed during the reservation process or when I paid upfront. After being charged, I noticed it disclosed in the middle of a bunch of bullet points at the end of the confirmation email. They have a monopoly in my area, so I had no choice but to pay to keep my account.

At least I know about the fee now, but the process to actually start and end a trip is so painful. What’s their motto? “Rent. Unlock. Go.” Nope, they forgot about the 15 minutes in between unlocking and going for vehicles inspections and taking photos and etc that you have to do before you can leave. I get it, they must’ve had a bunch of disputes over vehicle damage. Well, bake that into the price, or offer a premium service in which you don’t have to go through this and this app eats the costs (paid for by the premium service fees).

There have also been other things — dirty cars are common, and once there was no key in the car and I lost 30 minutes getting a new reservation! I’m now very tempted to buy a cheap, used car. Anything’s better than this experience.

Terrible Service and Very Expensive

My partner and I accidentally got a flat tire in our rental car and had to pull over off the side of the highway. After calling the company for support, we were told that a tow truck would be there in 10-15 minutes. An hour later, it had still not arrived. We called again for an update as to its whereabouts, only to be told the same thing. After waiting for another hour, we were getting nervous because it was the middle of the night and we were still stranded. We called again through Getaround , only to be hung up on TWICE before receiving any actual assistance. Finally, after waiting a total of three hours, the tow truck came and fixed our flat tire. By then, we had already been charged around $400 for the service and another $100 for having the car longer than we were supposed to. My partner and I also noticed that while the large payment was processed right away, the service itself took THREE HOURS to get to us. We are deeply unsatisfied with the treatment we received from this company and we will NOT be using them again in the future. We would have been better off with Zipcar.

Avoid at all costs.

I had the WORST experience with this app. First, the car I rented was locked in a garage and inaccessible at the time my rental started. I was on my way to a bike race outside of the city and had a firm start time. Because of this I had to quickly try to find a different car which ended up being more expensive and not having designated parking. I spent $30 in Ubers getting around to the new car because there wasn't one one by. I was late to my race and incredibly stressed out. Upon returning to the city, I had to find street parking since the only other available car didn't have a spot. It's fleet week in San Francisco. There were NO SPOTS. I had to pay extra just to keep driving around to find a spot. When I was dropping my bike off and getting ready to find a spot for the car it refused to start again. This blocked the garage of my landlord who was actively trying to leave. Then the lock aspect of Getaround wouldn't work. This whole ordeal was incredibly stressful, added 2 extra hours and at least $50 to my day. Terrible experience that I feel compelled to share. To top it off they wanted to give me a $10 credit which didn't even cover the extra gas the other car required.

Great Customer Service

Buut, you get what you pay for. If you would like to spend the first 10 minutes of your paid time inspecting the car and looking for all the “great” things people leave behind then Getaround is for you. It would be nice if this app offered at least 10 minutes free to inspect the car inside and out since it is a job to do that for them. I won’t be using this service again. The first car I tried using was stained all over the rear passenger seats and driver seats, some nasty mystery stains going on there. I feel sorry for whoever car that is. Second car I tried was alright. Wasn’t a fan of having some ones lotion all over my hands, would suggest bringing your own disinfection wipes, and possibly a nice blanket to throw in the back to hide the stains that are most likely to be there. Two more and I’ll stop. Cords to charge and connect phone were not working, I would suggest brining your own. Also the correct placards to gain access were missing. I’m glad I only booked an hour before trying this platform I would suggest the same to see if it is for you.

Consistent App or Service Problems

Getaround and service deserve only three out of five stars because there is always an issue with Getaround itself or the service model of borrowing cars from irresponsible individual owners. Every time I’ve used Getaround to rent a car I’ve experienced major problems. I’ve experienced issues unlocking the car through the application - the buttons and interface simply wouldn’t work. There are also frequent connectivity issues and customer support has confirmed this. Other times, the cars I’ve rented had serious exterior damage such as smashed in bumpers, smashed headlights, and missing rearview mirrors, or severe interior damage. In all instances, I’ve had to clean the car and once I’ve had to cover the seats in plastic because the fabric was horribly and disgustingly stained. I give Getaround three stars because it is half the price of Enterprise and other big car rental agencies if you book far enough in advance. I’m hopeful that this app can raise the standard of renting cars through mobile applications.

Use Getaround to waste time & money!

Twice in a row now, this app has failed to notify me that my reservation has been forcibly changed, sending me to a car that doesn’t exist when they could’ve easily notified me before hand. With the first car, I was sent to a location in an unsafe neighbor, miles away, and the car was unaccessible. Upon calling customer service (20 mins on hold) the this app rep *graciously* offered to cancel my reservation and give me a $20 coupon off my next trip.... how kind! The second time, I specifically booked a this app in a garage to ensure there would be no issues (like last time) and once again, I show up and the car was miles away, when seconds earlier the GPS had shown it was in the garage. After another 20 minutes on hold I get through to a rep who also *graciously* offers to pay for my Uber across town to the new car, in downtown San Francisco, at 4pm rush hour, on Memorial Day weekend. New car has worse MPG so now we are stuck in traffic for more time, paying more money. Try this app today to have your trip delayed, a horrible customer experience, and everything will cost more!

Honest review

I’ve used this app a few times now. I like that Getaround lets you unlock the car. No need to meet up with the owner. I’ve only met the owner once because the keys weren’t in the pocket pouch in the car. Every-time I fully inspect the car and document everything in Getaround . My experiences wasn’t bad. I have no horror stories. There is three things I dislike about it though. First off renters shouldn’t be charged for towing after 24 hours of drop off. Also there should be a gas card available. Filling up the tank shouldn’t come out of the customers pocket. Plus the distance that the car is at should be calculated by walking distance, not driving. That’s why I rent around day time. I would recommend for quick trips and to run errands. There is a mileage limit. 0.50 cents after that and they charge for tolls. Plus they charge for extension as well. Always park the car where you found it and drive safe and don’t park on the street cleaning side just read the road signs.

Awful service - do not use

There are many car share platforms out there so there is no need to use a sub par version. I tried to use this app for a weekend getaway - I secured a car and the next day it was canceled by the owner (understandable this happens). I received a $10 credit and so tried again - secured a car and the night before my trip at 10pm it was canceled so I didn’t see that until the morning of my trip - I received only a $25 dollar credit which was not additive to the $10 credit. I looked around for other option but at this last minute everything else through other companies was booked so I was pushed into renting the most expensive option. We traveled an hour to the car only to get there and have the car not checked in and not there. We called customer service and they confirmed that despite what Getaround said the car had not been checked-in and there were no other cars available- we then were given a $25 dollar credit and money back. Overall this was so unreliable I would say to stay away from Getaround if you have anywhere to be. The other car share app Turo ended up saving our weekend so I’d recommend using them instead.

Every problem, every time, they got it wrong

Rented a car in October. Transmission failed mid trip. They had not been monitoring the car to notice the transmission had been slipping leaving me and my family in an unsafe car. Luckily we were able to pull over at a local park when transmission failed. Waited two hours for this app to send tow before leaving car as rainstorm hit thanks to friend taking us to dry location. Tow truck company and this app argues for hours back and forth about where to take car and making me the middle man for this - tow company couldn’t even contact this app directly and had to ask me for the number. We took a Lyft home. Numerous calls with this app and waiting on different divisions that don’t speak to each other to resolve and I still not only haven’t been refunded yet for car or Lyft but they just sent me an email asking why I stopped my credit card from allowing me to charge them for future payments because they just tried to charge me $8.50 for the tolls. When you let a customer like this experience this level of i attention, you get this kind of review. For every happy customer, how many of me are there? Get your act together!

4 hours of horrible service

Getaround allowed me to book a car that was 120 miles away from its intended location. I took an Uber to the car which cost me money. Get around support took nearly 1 hour to finally get me another car. I paid another Uber to that car. Finally get in 2 hours later and get to the parking gate. The owner of the car was $54 delinquent with parking fees. I call support and they hang up on me twice. I reluctantly paid because it was now 2 am and I am tired. I get about 30 mins into the trip and my girlfriend discovers the car is also unregistered. I become very frustrated at this point. 2.5 hours of wasted time later I call support again. They continue to not know how to properly handle the situation and hang up multiple times. Finally 4 hours later at 4am, the situation is resolved. Get around gets away with a $14 prorate refund, for 4 hours of my time wasted on my thanksgiving trip. Getaround is great when the cars are ok, but don’t expect good service when things go wrong. My advise to get around, do what’s right when things go wrong, don’t screw the customers.

Worse Service!! Do not use!!

I’m an Uber/Lyft driver who had no choice but to rent a vehicle while my personal vehicle is out of service. I rented thru the Lyft Hertz program and was getting straight up robbed of my money and Lyft earnings. So I got approved to rent through the Uber program and figured I would return the Hertz rental and rent a this app vehicle. Assuming since Uber has a rigorous approval system that you have to wait 2 weeks for, once given the green light, thought I would be all set to pick up a car rental like with Hertz. Well I was wrong. I am not on a full 7 days stuck with no vehicle because of GetArounds absolutely HORRIBLE customer service, lack of knowledge, no communication or way to reach “other” departments, and never getting replies back from the emails. This company is the most UNPROFESSIONAL I’ve dealt with. And now I’ve lost hours of my time, a whole weeks pay because of them and most importantly my patience & sanity! Ugh.

Y far the best service I’ve received on all rideshare rental options

This is GENUIS! I’ve had a few issues with car cleanliness or a car not starting but any and all the agents have been extremely professional... empathetic and knowledgeable. By the time I get off the phone I’m more then pleased . They don’t make excuses or blame other people. They recognize the issue and fix it immediately . I e literally rented a car from them every day for two weeks . I love that you don’t ha e to wait in line. You truly do book the car . Once to the location Getaround locks on on your signal and unlocks the car remotely. You check the gas and for damages and you’re on your way . Literally a five minute process . This company is going places . Very convenient . And it fits my schedule and life . I almost don’t want to tell people bc I want to keep this little secret to myself . I recommend that everyone try it .

Hit or miss - definitely not an unlock and go service

Prepare to pay for an additional 30-40 minutes so you can do a full inspection of the car and scramble around to return the car on 100% full or be fined. (Gas is not included and needs to also be documented via photos through Getaround .) I was lucky enough to get a car that smelled terribly of smoke and fried food, a $500 fine for the prior customer, but nothing was done to fix the issue for me. Uber and other drivers are able to rent these cars so don’t be surprised if yours smells and looks like someone’s been living in it for hours. There’s a low cap on included mileage (30 miles, then pay $0.50 per mile), so this is truly only for quick in-town rides. Also, Getaround requires you to constantly verify through Facebook which assumes you support and have a Facebook account and that has its own set of ethical concerns. Competitors have their own terrible shortcomings but this one definitely is the least convenient and most deceptive service I’ve tried.
