It is nice but there is an annoying usability issue

I like that it has the muscles and exercises for each muscle, but the selection of removing overlaying muscles is a pain. This is because the developers pre-determined what muscles they would stop showing for each click of the remove option. An example of how this is annoying is I wanted to look at where the gluteus maximus tied to the femur. The particular spot is under the LT band so I click on the LT band to remove it from view. What happens is that it doesn’t remove the LT band and removes the gluteus Maximus, ending in the exact opposite of what I want. Again this is because the developers decided what you would want to look at and did not think you might want to examine something different.

Has some issues

I’ve used iMuscle2 for many years and have loved it. However, since the last update, I’ve noticed issues that although not a deal breaker for me, I do find it to be inconvenient and a bit annoying. These issues are that the animations no longer load, sometimes there is a delay, sometimes they don’t load at all. The other thing is that the weights are off leaving me to have to put them in manually instead of just choosing from the apps choices. I’m glad there is the manual input option, otherwise I wouldn’t be able to track proper progress. I got in touch with them and I was told it was getting sent to the development team, it’s been a while and I haven’t seen any new updates and issues are still happening. Hopefully it gets fixed, because other than these minor annoyances, I’d give this a five star prior to the last update. But for now, it’s only a three for me. Needs improvement, or just roll back to the previous version because, this is a perfect example of “if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it.”

iMuscle 2 Is Excellent App

I like the fact that iMuscle has an extensive library of common exercises yet you can still create your own new ones. The only feature that is troublesome is the ease with which I can edit routines on my Mac or iPhone. I do all my planning on my Mac and then transfer to my iPhone. I run each routine and use iMuscle2 to time my in between rest periods of 45-60 seconds. It is difficult, however, to edit routines because I cannot expand the window to the right. I can see 3 and 1/2 exercises at a time and it is difficult to slide left or right in that view. I need to see the entire routine in one screen so that I can refine the sequence of the exercises. I would also like the ability to duplicate a routine and save it under a new name so that I can vary some routines to create a new one rather than start a new one from scratch, which is what I have to do today. In addition, it would be nice to have (but not critical) for iMuscle2 to link to other health/fitness apps to share common metrics such as weight, calories expended through exercise and calories consumed. Finally, I really do like and appreciate the bionic man used to show muscles and groups for each exercise. It helps me two ways: (1) learn the muscle groups that I am working in each exercise; and, (2) insure that I hit all of the muscle groups evenly over time.

Major bugs still but not bad for the price.

The ability to select a muscle group and have iMuscle2 automatically pull up exercises that hit that muscle is great. Though I wish the exercises that showed up were in order of most effective versus alphabetical. Main issue is the tool to remove muscles when you select them to see what’s underneath, it either removes the muscle you selected and many other muscles or removes everything else except the one you selected. So it’s almost pointless. to attempt to remedy this deleted iMuscle2 and reinstalled but still the same issues. I’m on an iPhone 2008 SE.

Love this app, search functionality not great.

iMuscle2 has been great! I use it to show patients and clients where and how a muscle contracts as well as using it for my own workouts. Love it!

That being said... I would love to be able to add sets to a workout or even an exercise dynamically while the workout is happening. The search function isn’t without issues: for instance if your developing a workout and want to train just forearms on a particular day and search for forearms you get nothing, if you’re more specific with searching a particular muscle you sometimes get nothing. Improvement in these areas would be great! Thanks.

Almost As Good As A Fitness Instructor

I am in LOVE with iMuscle2. In addition to learning more about how the human body works, it shows you exercises to do to work a variety of different muscles. (Shows stretches too.) My boyfriend is a massage therapist and he reviewed iMuscle2 and told me that the information in it was correct. He said that he wished he had known about iMuscle2 when he was going through school because it would have made learning a lot easier.
The downside is that it crashes FREQUENTLY. I have to close it and clear many time during my workout.

More specific

This is a great app in general but if you could talk about fiber types(type 1 and 2 ) for each muscle, which exercises hit the muscle best and back it with emg studies would be nice and some exercises such as the deadlift work muscles you didn’t mention like your back it could also be nice if you could explain if it is a concentric eccentric or isometric contraction as well as some conditioning workouts but I haven’t looked to far into this so it is mostly good so far I personally would watch you tubers along with this like athlean x to get a better understanding of the muscle and not just rely on iMuscle2 but I stand with 4 out 5 stars

Awesome for workout!

I’ve been looking for an app like this for so long. A friend of mine recommended it to me, and I don’t regret at all have spend my money on this. I go to the gym every day and I’ve found iMuscle2 very helpful, bc is not only very complete exercise wise, also bc it allows you to customize your own routines and stretches.
If you’re a gym addict like me, you’ll love it! If you’re not, doesn’t matter you’ll still enjoy it!
Highly recommended 👌🏼

The best!

My trainer recommended this to me - and since I was already shelling out for training I decided to spend a few bucks on this. It’s super easy and intuitive. One thing you can do is look at a movement that challenges you (pull-up for example) look at each of the muscles involved in that movement and design a workout based on your equipment to progress to that movement! Then you can assess which muscle groups are weakest and might need extra love. Hope this makes sense - love it and

Prove me if there is a better muscle app!

I have checked about 6 top apps in the muscle game (most of them expensive), but when I came across iMuscle2 and checked every detail in it as I did with the other apps, I was astonished by the great work the creators of iMuscle2 did and how it fits exactly what I have been looking for, for a long time. I am not a type of person who writes reviews, but creators of such a great work deserves appreciation and recognition. Thank you!

Great app for workout ideas

This is a great app for anyone into fitness I can not recommend it enough. My Trainer recommended years ago and I’ve used it since.

It’s rare that there’s any app out that that doesn’t want to shake you daily for every penny you own or isn’t stealing your personal information in order to sell it off. So it’s great iMuscle2 is actually doing what it can without resorting to cheap tactics in order to make a quick buck. I’ve highly recommend it to anyone I workout with.

Phenomenal App!

It was free when I got it many years ago, not sure if it still is or not, but what an app. Having trouble figuring out how to exercise specific muscles? This is iMuscle2 for you. With a model you can zoom in on, identify the muscle(s) you want to target, and then exercises and stretches modeling how to exercise said muscle(s) 👍🏻 The new update which allows you to save your favorite exercise for a quick reference is a very nice touch. Whether you have been lifting for years or just getting started this is a must have app for the fitness enthusiast.

Great visual aid and custom workout creator

I am a very visual guy. I also want to know what exactly I am working on when I work out. This is a great tool for walking you through each movement, showing you what is being stretched and worked on by lighting up primary and secondary muscles. It has some prepared workouts, but I like the customizable option. You can choose your own durations for each move and stack movements how you wish, creating a flow all your own.

One Workout app to rule them all

Love iMuscle2! There’s a few exercises missing, but you can add custom ones (they just don’t have an animation). I do wish there was a way to show a routines overall dedication to certain muscles, and analyze if my weekly program is targeting all my muscle groups, but iMuscle2 does keep track of your progress. I think it’s a must have for beginners or intermediates who want to explore different exercises and see a demonstration of how they’re done (the animations are very helpful).

Awesome App!!!

Have been using since 3 or 4 yes now!!! My go to app for Stretches. My 13yrs son started using it too now…highly recommended.
he was trying to search by commonly used name but could find the right muscles…searching for hip flexor doesn’t yield anything … may be good idea to have a mapping for commonly used names to medical names, and enable search …
Nothing much have changed in iMuscle2 all these years though … add some more stretches and add strengthening exercise without need for equipment (not everyone goes to gym!)
Thanks for the great app!

Better than a personal trainer

I looked into getting a personal trainer however where I live it is a very expensive area and personal trainers are $100 an hour. I found iMuscle2 and was really happy because I get to make over a dozen different workouts which I rotate so that I don’t work out the same muscle groups every day but I feel like I get a great work out because I can target my work out to specific muscle groups. It is totally worth the money to pay for iMuscle2 as I am not having to pay personal trainer and I don’t need someone else to motivate me .

Best App Ever

Seriously, the first top review nailed all the points. If you need motivation to exercise and don’t know what to do and would like a guide, this is iMuscle2 . It’s got everything. best $4 i’ve ever spent on an app. i’ve probably had iMuscle2 since highschool, redownloaded it onto every phone since, and i’ve never had any issues with it except minor crashes. but a quick reload and you’re back to the imuscle interface. super simple to use and has helped with staying motivated and teaching me more about my body. iMuscle2 is a Kinesiologist’s best friend.

Helps with physical therapy

I have had back, neck and shoulder issues and had to go to the chiropractor 2X’s a week as well as get physical therapy and take home exercises for 4 months. A lot of the exercises given to me were exactly what I found when looking and targeting the areas with iMuscle2.
It was perfect for doing homework assignments because I knew which exercises to do from the therapist and found iMuscle2 to be exactly on point. I found the video action helpful compared to a 2d photo trying to remember movements. I can mark favorites and create routines and keep track. It also shows adjacent muscles and exercises to complement therapy. Very helpful and worth the money. Especially if one cannot continue visits to the doctor for whatever reason.

Great app! Keep it up!

The best part of iMuscle2 is how you can pick out a muscle or group that you want to work in the gym and get a list of excersise ideas and how to do them. This helps in a crowded gym or a gym with limited equipment - you know what you want to do but sometimes you may have to work that muscle using a different piece of equipment.

Where I think iMuscle2 can improve is the graphics and the metrics on the progress tab. This should be expanded- export to excel, link up with life fitness machines to input cardio workouts from QPC codes. The fact that I can email my brother a customized workout that I did is way cool. If I could print out that list with the data that would be useful. Also, to get an effective body fat percentage based off of the measurements plugged into iMuscle2 it is important to measure the areas correctly. iMuscle2 should include instructions on the weight and taping at the same level of detail as in excersise demo.

Here’s another idea if you software developers are listening: if the graphic of the person matched those that the user inputs on the plates, barbells, weight and tape, etc. that would be pretty cool.

Overall I really enjoy iMuscle2 and it is really helping me to reach my fitness goals. I highly recommend iMuscle2.

Top Notch app for working out

I absolutely love iMuscle2 for working out. As previous users have stated it helps with knowing which muscle groups you are hitting and making sure you are not solely focused on one. At the same time you’re learning a little bit about the muscle. The downfall is that iMuscle2 has not been updated and does become a bit frustrating with the interface it currently has.
