Essential app for TV show maniacs.

When I switched to the iPhone a year ago, I was sad ‘cause my go-to app then for TV show tracking, SeriesGuide, was not available on iOS. So naturally, I searched for an alternative and found TV Time. I cannot say it enough in how many ways it’s far more superior than any other app in its category. The Watchlist tabs provides for an easy way to see what you gotta watch, the calendar view makes it really easy when the next episode of your favorite show is gonna air, the profile tab makes it easy to customize how you show up in TVTime ’s social network. Now about the social network! Before using TV Time, tv show nerds had to resort to groups on various social network that you had to a lot of digging to find, to join the fandom. Now, you just got an amazing social networking experience inside TVTime that is incredibly easy to talk about your favorite tv show with an entire community. Also, the explore tab has been really important to me, cause I don’t have to sit down and spend time reading reviews of new tv shows, I just start watching! Kudos to the developer, you’re awesome! I mean, I feel a little bad it’s free..

Mostly Fantastic App with a frustrating bug

TVTime is great for keeping track of TV shows I’m watching (and now movies too) but lately TVTime crashes a lot while loading my TV watch list. When my watch list will load, the season/episode info or the info for individual episodes will often fail to load.

Other than this TVTime is pretty great, but lately it’s been a hassle to sometimes have to reload TVTime multiple times before I can log/rate/etc an episode I’ve watched. Please fix this!

The only other issue I have with TVTime is if I’ve watched a current season, but haven’t watched the previous seasons of a show, TVTime will show that I’m “up to date” with it. And even if I go back and watch the previous episodes (and log them as I do so), the show won’t show up on my “watch next” list-meaning I have to search for it by name every time. The only way I’ve found around this is to un-check the most recent episode of a series (pretending I haven’t watched it even if I have) and even doing that, the show still won’t move to the top of the “watch next” list when I watch an older episode (meaning I’ll presumably have to repeat this process every so often if I don’t want the show to go to the “haven’t watched for a while” list). I’d think this could be easily fixed, and I wish it would be.

Only one current issue

TVTime is perfect. It is everything you could ask for when it comes to tracking your shows, discovring new ones and sharing your opinions with your friends and the community, etc. Currently, as for update 6.15.4, There is an issue that bugged me for a long time. I thought that the issue would be resolved in later updates ( as of when i started noticing it ) but it still has not. The issue is as follows : whenever i tap the “For you” section and want to see what my friends activites i have to refresh the section twice or three times in order for my friends icons to show up so that i can tap them, what bugs me more is the green color [ that shows up around the icon indicating that the user recently watched an episode or added a new show ( has a new activity in their feed in genral ) ] does not show up when i refresh and thus i do not know my friends recent activity. I really hope that this issue is resolved as soon as possible for that this section is one my favourite of TVTime and i do not want to hate it.

Mixed Reaction

Edit: Know that the recent update even further turned TVTime to mush. To the point it isn't even working properly on the most recent update on my iPhone x running ios 12. I don't know why the developers continue to change the UI at the sake of the UX. It's a shame. I really liked TVTime. Going to delete it.

Previous: The interface was efficient and streamlined before the most recent update as per the date of this post. Now you must individually go to each episode to mark them as watched and wait for load times for a now bloated app looking to increase its UI design rather than add additional features. It’s always been an app that by design promotes a more social network vibe based around tv so I didn’t give it a completely useless rating. Know what you're getting into first. The design of TVTime has great features but the interface is now clunky. For something that is supposed to save you time, you end up spending as much time updating your calendar as you would watching an episode of the show your updating. Overall it’s a decent app, I just wish it focused on its main objective rather than the trend of socializing every app. I have friends, so I don’t need an online community to discuss a show with, just an inventory system to keep track of what I’ve watched, what I’ve missed, and what I might miss.

Obsessed but could use some tweaks

In love with TVTime, however, I only use it to log shows, no movies. My favorite part is you can see how many episodes you’ve watched and how much time you’ve spent watching. Love the stats feature as well! The customizable profile with the character and header is to die for!!! Kinda glitchy at times but otherwise obsessed.
Few things I would love to see:
1. When you rewatch shows/seasons/episodes I’ve noticed that the time spent watching doesn’t count for those extra rewatches…please update this!!! Cause I’ve rewatched shows multiple times and would love that to be counted in the TV Time.
2. An easier discover/explore page? Genres/years/popularity/etc? Just not very accessible to scroll down a list that ends up stopping and have to think of shows from the top of your head.
3. Should be able to add shows to lists from discover area. Once again, you have to think from the top of your head to create lists.

Bring back the old version

I just updated my app to the most recent version. I really miss the version from two updates ago. I really liked how my tv shows were listed and it showed how many episodes I needed to watch. I relied on that a lot to get caught up on the shows I was furthest behind in. I don’t like the visual effects of seeing each shows tv poster. I watch the shows. I know what the characters and everything look like. I get that you are trying to make it more “eye catching” but I prefer the list form. I wish I was given an option to choose how I want to view it in TVTime . The new gridline option is even more terrible than scrolling forever with the visual posters. Please bring back the list option from before! It was so much more convenient and was a huge reason why I loved TVTime. I watch way too many shows and need a reliable app to keep me updated but TVTime has becoming more frustrating than helpful. I really wish I never updated. This would have been above and beyond a 5/5 if the updates never happened. There was nothing wrong with TVTime before the updates. Please incorporate the list form option back into TVTime for people to choose how they want to view their shows. Thank you.

Essential for TV Show Lovers!!!

I loooove watching tv shows and TVTime is essential to keep track of everything! Among all its features, I think one of the best ones is being able to see how many days until a show is coming back for its next season. It can be so hard to find this info online with unofficial articles/news reports saying different things. I also like that I can “stop” watching a show and it still keeps my progress and keeps the show on my profile, just in case I ever want to come back to it!

The main improvement I’d like to see is a more intuitive Discover section. It would be nice to see shows similar to ones that I’m watching and a better interface for navigating through the titles. Also, I’d like to see better support for re-watching a show (i.e. ability to see a show I’ve already watched in the main episodes page and mark episodes as watched again).

Overall, it’s amazing. I’d recommend to anyone.

good and bad

it leaves shows i finished off of my finished shows list and doesn’t correctly keep track of the amount of episodes i watch daily. I do like TVTime i like reading the comments on shows but they need to improve the keeping track of episodes and shows. Also they need a better recommendation system because they suggest to me the weirdest shows but when i look up a show it says it’s 95% good recommendation for me but it doesn’t show up on my recommendations...

edit: thank you for fixing the tracking and for now showing ALL shows watched, watching and on watchlist!! (that seriously changed my 2 star to a 5 star)
Recommendations still need to improve i’ve had the same recommendations since the day i got TVTime they seem like they don’t improve the more you watch and I would like to have a tab that shows the feed of activity for the people you’re following!
OVERALL great app!!

Comprehensive but clunky

It seems most of the shows etc are in their app and pretty accurate with the air dates and times. However the UI is clunky and not the easiest to use. There should be a place to see your shows. Even the show list needs to be streamlined instead of the huge show icons. It takes way too long to find a show either in a list or by search. You should be able to rate the overall show as well as individual episodes. The original airing channel or service should be first in the list of where did you watch list. There needs to be other or additional how did you feel emoticons in that list. It’s rare that any of them describe what I felt. Add items like entertained, excited, heart pounding, happy, curious, transported, informed, relaxed. Finally, the button/icon to add a comment to an episode should be easier to find and click…. Like above where the list of comments start, not appearing at the bottom once your in the comments. And not as a conversation bubble… it should be a data or keyboard icon etc.

Great app but very buggy

Please please please fix the following bugs:
1) Many in-app notifications do not disappear no matter how many times you click on them, close them, view them, etc. The same notification bug will constantly come back and constantly persist. Incredibly frustrating.
2) I ADORE the feature that allows you to customize/change the show posters and banners displayed on your profile. However, TVTime CONSTANTLY “forgets” the selections made. I’ve had to re-select my posters dozens of times, hoping some of them will stick. Some do eventually, and some don’t. Very random and very infuriating. This applies to both making a selection and it appearing reflected on the tile you came from (often does not reflect correctly under “More Shows”), as well as making selections that do reflect correctly, closing TVTime , reopening, and finding that the poster has reverted back to default and forgotten the customized selection.

TVTime is clearly made for power watchers of TV shows and power app users, but the bugs ruin a lot of the usability and delight of the great features. I love you TV Time but please fix the bugs!

Fantastic app but needs more search options

TVTime shines at making it easy to watch upcoming streaming TV across multiple services, and for that reason alone, it’s an essential app for me. It’s TV recommendation algorithm is solid as long a you feed it enough data up front (it’ll ask you what shows you like during setup, and you shouldn’t skip that part). It’s movie recommendations could use some work. They seem random. TVTime would greatly benefit from added search options, such as actor, writer, and director. It’d also be fantastic if Netflix integration was rolled out to existing users along with new users. A big long shot wish is for more streaming service integrations with an automatically watched feature. On the whole, I highly recommended thus app for streaming TV. Not so much for streaming movies, but TVTime is called “TV Time,” so I’ll be happy with what works and hope for more features to come.

Great App - one suggestion

I really enjoy TVTime, it has really helped me to organize the shows that I want to watch across all of the streaming platforms that are out there today (too many to list).

My one suggestion is related to the movie function. While TVTime lists what services movies are available to stream on, it does not take into account that you may have to pay extra to rent or buy the movie on that particular service/platform. For example, Xfinity may be listed as a service where the movie is available but you have to rent or buy the movie. It would be fantastic if TVTime also tracked/listed streaming services where the movie is included in the subscription. That would save time from scrolling though the list of services/platforms only to find out that all the services/platforms listed require you to pay extra to watch the movie.

Really enjoy this app but I have one suggestion

I love TVTime it works great for keeping up on what I’m what I’m watching and what I want to watch when I have more time. I now have a place to put all the show suggestions I get from podcasts and friends! My only complaint is that on British shows (and possibly other international shows) that are also brought over to the US through PBS or HBO or some other channel the show always seems to use the original air dates from the original airing in the UK instead of when it airs in the US. I wish that TVTime could use the fact that it knows I’m in the US and show the air dates accordingly. The current show I have this issue with is Years and Years it’s in my watchlist but will not begin airing here until late June but in TVTime shows that all the episodes are available now. Again I really enjoy TVTime just wish it had this small change to make it even better!

A must for avid TV watchers

There are so many good shows on television nowadays, and so many channels and streaming services, it’s easy to get lost in the shuffle.
I one day found myself making a spreadsheet, making categories for the name of the show, what day and time it was on, what channel it was on, how many episodes there would be and a checklist so I would know what was the last episode I watched. It took me hours to look up all the information and create the list and I knew as each new year came there would be more shows, different air dates.... I thought there has to be a better way.
Then I found TV TIME, and what a game changer. It not only does everything I tried to do, but does it in a slick and intuitive way, sends you funny notifications, and helps you find new shows. It even has its own community where people can share their thoughts on each episode and show.
Download TVTime!

New update has some bugs

The one thing I noticed is our profile doesn’t even show our shows... just stats.

The bigger thing I noticed is when inside “my shows” tab and click on finished shows I have finished are not showing... I’ve tried giving it time to load more and relaunching TVTime ... I finished “friends” and “how I met your mother” for a fact and they don’t show in that list... if I search either of those shows and pull them up it shows as purple and as finished... now I’m worried all my other tabs aren’t showing all my current shows I am watching or who knows what... I love TVTime but just wanted to bring attention to this! I am sure they will fix it...

Still wish they’d bring back suggesting a show to a friend within TVTime ... I hate texting friend a link to a show if they use TVTime ... why not make a “this app suggestions” and “suggested by friends” sections.... that’d be nice!

Update is Awful

I love TVTime and have been using it for so long but after the recent update I have been looking for others. I have lost my For Later section which is really disappointing because I put a lot of effort into that list so that I could keep track of all of the shows I’d like to watch in the future. I don’t like how the layout looks now. I like being able to see more on the screen at once. I don’t like how I can’t see how many episodes I have left. I don’t like how you’ve taken away Not Watched For Awhile because it helped me distinguish between shows I’m currently watching and ones that I’ve watched episodes of but am not currently invested in. I don’t like how episode descriptions have been taken away. I actually used those to see if I’ve seen an episode or not. I don’t know why the TV schedule was taken away either. It makes me really sad to say that I cannot find any positives with this new update and I’m extremely upset that my automatic updates were turned on. Otherwise I would not have updated until it made me and I wish I could go back. Please listen to all of these reviews and change back.

So close

This was so close to fulfilling everything I needed. I would have given this 5 stars for sure if it had the following (I hope the you’re listening):
1. It would be nice if I could add movies and shows to a list without adding it to the overall app. These should work independently of one another. I know you can add the movie, then add it to a list, then remove the movie, but why?
2. It would be much easier to add new shows and movies if you could see if it was already added to TVTime or on a list right from the thumbnail. You can see if it’s added in some areas, but not others. You can’t see if it’s on a list anywhere that I saw.
3. It would be lovely to be able to sort the order of the lists. If I’m looking for something specific, I just have to keep scrolling till I find it. It would be so much easier if I could sort by release date or alphabetical. Filters would be great.

I like the new update, but…

The good things about the new update are that you can change the poster for free, the dark mode and the thinner margins and spaces between the tv shows making it more aesthetic; however, i Preferred somethings in the older version more, like In the new version, I don’t like how my custom lists are hidden in there own section without appearing with the rest of the lists In my profile, and i really miss the feature to choose which list to hide and which to display. in IPAD The icons of the episodes watched and time spent appear at the top left of my profile leaving an awkward blank space in the top right of the profile, it would be better if you added the remaining episodes and time too. Though the icons size in the profile page looks very good in IPAD, In IPHONE however they look a little too big.

In my opinion, TVTime would be PERFECT if:

1) you brought back some of the older features mentioned above and edited the profile page look.

2) add a new feature that im really surprised how you still haven’t added it yet Like the other apps, which is to sort the shows in MY lists according to their runtime, number of fans, ratings, genre etc… it would be so helpful instead of scrolling down the whole list every time I want to search through my shows.

3) at every show page, add the time it would take to watch it all.

Please consider my suggestions and don’t ignore…

CHANGE IT BACK!!

Honestly I don’t even go to my profile anymore cause I couldn’t care less about the reviews I leave or my stats. I hate how at the top of my profile my character doesn’t show up on there anymore and that I can no longer see how much time I’ve spent watching tv (my man and I used to compare), I hate how the shows are in different tabs and I have to scroll over and then down to find what I’m looking for, and that after I check that I watched the show it pops up for me to rate, I hate how large all the features are (eyesore), GO BACK to the blacked out, seamless, easy-to-use, fantastic format you had before! Why would you go from a great layout to this crap? Have you heard the saying if it ain’t broke don’t fix it? I honestly believe you’ll have less users because of this decision. I though about getting the premium version for Christmas and trying it out for a little bit but no way. Not anymore. If you’re so determined to change it at least give us an option to use the old format or remove the last two updates....no longer a fan. If there was another app similar to this one, I’d uninstall TV Time.

Great Movie/ TV Show Tracker

I’ve been using notes to track all my movies and shows until I found a forum saying that TVTime was great and that it’s aesthetically pleasing to the eyes. I downloaded it and it’s been great so far. They organize and separate your TV shows from movies and you can even create list for added organization.

It keeps you updated on what shows are still airing and when they will be released. You can make comments about each episode and comment on/ or like other people’s post. It allows you to rate each episode or movies you’ve watched and insert your reactions. It also includes anime’s, kdramas, etc. it’s not just limited to “famous” movies and shows and it has upcoming movies that will be released soon.

If you’re looking for an app to keep track of your shows and movies definitely go for TVTime.

Love it!! 5 stars with one fix

I. Love. This. App. I LOVE lists of any type, so to be able to track all of my shows and now movies I’ve watched is amazing! I especially love the social aspect of TVTime , being able to read and comment on each episode and share theories or thoughts with other people who watch the same shows as you. I highly recommend TVTime!

However, in the last week or two alone (never had this problem before) 3 different series I’ve watched haven’t been on TVTime :(
Now, at least two of those are pretty brand new, just came out in 2020 I believe, but I’ve had reminders from TVTime before about upcoming shows and seasons so I’m not sure why the delay. I saw that you can create an account on some website and submit a request or add it yourself because that’s where they sync their data from, but honestly the website seemed nightmarish to navigate on my phone browser and that’s a lot of work for the user to have to do. I’m not sure if TVTime is just not being synced super often or what, but I would love for an easier way to submit a show request WITHIN the tv time app itself. Or maybe even just anticipate the shows that are premiering and make sure they are going to be available when it airs 🤷🏻‍♀️
Also, the refreshing every time I switch apps is pretty annoying. I have to get back to my place every time and it’s frustrating. Please fix!

it couldn’t get worst

I loved TVTime ever since I downloaded it back in March of last year. I watch a lot of tv shows so it’s hard to keep track, but then a few months ago I go a update that made TVTime worst a unnecessary layout update everything was fine until this update came.
I loved how you can see when was it that you watched a episode, how many episodes you had left before marking that you watched an episode, which number of episode it was for the whole series. The recent unnecessary combination of the discover tab and what friend watched tab. TVTime keeps getting worst and worst and if I have to find a new app I will. If you’re going to make updates no one asked for you should at least put in a in app choice for which layout we want to use...the old amazing one every loved or this new one no one likes.

Without a doubt 5-Stars⭐️ before most recent update, but..

I have used TV Time for about 3 years if I’m
not mistaking. For me this has been, by far, the best app to track shows, check upcoming episodes, see other people’s reactions to episodes, and most importantly (at least for me) the best app to display my personal library.

The most recent update I’m my opinion absolutely worsened everything I just mentioned, and for some reason just completely eliminated the way my Library was displayed on my profile.
Now I have to go to the “My Shows” tab were before I would just check to see upcoming episodes, go through a very clumsy and unreasonably big thumbnail UI, that keeps displaying the stuff that I already watched.. swipe the top bar to finally find my Library of Favorites, Watched, Not Watched for a while and Finished.

I know you can easily fix this, just put all of that stuff back on my profile please.
The only reason I’m giving it 3 stars if because having my shows displayed like that was more than half of the reason why I loved TVTime. I’ve seen a ton of people complaint about this so I know I’m not alone in this.
Fix it and I’ll be sure to give you guys the 5 stars you deserve. TVTime is awesome and it works great, but I want my shows back where they belong 😊

About the new update

First off I appreciate all the hard work your team puts into creating a user friendly tv tracking app. I’ve been using TVTime for about a year now. I decided to update and I found the differences to be very jarring. The older version had clear lists of what I competed, what I abandoned, and what I plan to watch, and what I haven’t watched in a while. Now it feels like all shows are under one list and I would have to change the filter many times. I preferred the separation. I also liked to keep track of all the shows I finished in the past and I can’t do that now. I also liked how the marathon badges had the dates on them. And how TVTime gave me stats of how many episodes I watched in a week. With the new update each episode takes up more space compared to the older version.
To summarize: I liked how uniformed and simple the older version looked. The new version does look more “modern” but I preferred how reliable the older version was. I hope this review was helpful. Thanks again!
