4.4 out of 5

Looks nice, but unreliable.

by GordyWinkerbean

Sometimes I can stream the local teams, other times it says my provider isn’t authorized. This is literally the main feature for this app so it’s insanely frustrating that it’s so buggy. The UI is nicer than the old app, though there are some really bizarre elements. Get rid of the “hockey puck” selection button. There are much better ways to implement menu selection than having a static button on what is otherwise a nice looking design. Also, the picture in picture window is pointless. It’s too small to see any kind of game action. And the transition is awkward. Seems like it would just make more sense to lock the regular video window to the UI when scrolling through content.

EDIT 4/22:

Does any of the developers actually use this app? Can we finally get a fix for non-16:9 tablets (ipads) when viewing full screen video? The sides get cut off, which cuts off the scorebug.

Always a problem

Every time we go to watch the Flyers games on either our iPad or phone we end up having to delete the app then reinstalling it. And every single time the same message pops up “this program is not available in your region due to rights restrictions.” Last season it worked fine. The iPad is a little over a year old and the phone is a few months old and we are ALWAYS connected to WiFi so I know it’s not on our end. We have complicated circumstances where this is the only way a family member can watch as he is in an assisted living facility. But it’s sad that every time we go in to see if he was able to get it started, he feels like HE did something wrong. “Nope, doesn’t work on my phone either buddy ...sit tight while we fix it again.”😢🤦🏼‍♀️

Great content, lousy app

Okay, content is more than enough and should be enough to make this a 4-5 star app. So why only two? App mechanics are garbage. Video is what there are pushing so even if it’s not what you want, it’s pushed on you, even when video is not working right and yes, that’s another issue. And why is it impossible to change screen orientation?

Folks, it’s 2020 and blows my mind that this is a ‘finished’ product.

Update: I’m removing a star thanks to the invasive video feed. I’m watching the game on the television and trying to read articles but the video restarts every time I swipe on the page. I keep on turning it off but it won’t stay off. Disappointing that this is the case, wonder why there is no quality check.
