Why does the Spectrum App handle channel surfing so terribly ... including treating duplicate channels as if they are the same channel? This causes so many usability issues that it's really very annoying. 1. I like to channel surf through the Guide. And I typically use the high-numbered (above 100) channels, as they are organized more into "related groups" (like most sports channels are in the 300s and 400s, whereas below 100 the sports channels are all scattered). If I am looking in the Guide positioned at (for example) channel 102 (A&E) and then press-and-hold ENTER to choose only my Favorites, when I return to the guide I am now on channel 27 (A&E) instead. Why? I don't want to be on 27 .. I want to be on 102! This happens with ALL channels that have low-numbered and high-numbered versions. And quite often, not just when I choose my view setting. 2. I thought I would solve the above problem by putting only the high-numbered channels in my Favorites list and hiding the low-numbered versions. But when I do this, the high-numbered versions are hidden also. That is, I can't have the high-numbered channel as a Favorite without the low-numbered channel too. Why? I don't want the low-numbers ... only the high-numbers! 3. And what is really annoying ... suppose I have Favorites selected and I am channel surfing through the Guide. The time happens to be (for example) 8:29pm. As I surf through the Guide and I am on a high-numbered channel when the time changes to 8:30pm, the guide shifts to the current time AND SWITCHES to the corresponding low-numbered channel WHILE I AM SURFING!! The guide just JUMPS without me doing anything! Huh? 4. With my previous Spectrum cable box, when I was channel surfing I would see a short description of the show that is currently highlighted in the Guide. Now I only get a picture of the movie/tv show promo screen. In order to see the short description, I have to choose the show in the Guide, then choose "More Info". And it's even worse when the show I am investigating is "in progress" but NOT the currently tuned in channel; now I actually have to CHANGE TO THAT CHANNEL, then choose UP, then GET MORE INFO, then MORE INFO before I can see the complete description. If I have paused the currently tuned channel, then doing this switches to the new channel and my paused TV show is lost. There should be an option that allows me to get the short description on the side of the Guide, rather than a promo pic that is nearly useless.
There are several unpleasant aspects of the Spectrum TV App and the Xumo box that are quite annoying. It would be nice if they were addressed at some point. 1. Xumo has a setting for "Startup and Standby" -> "Default To Live TV". (Automatically play live TV when Xumo Stream Box is turned on.) But when I start Xumo, I have to choose "Currently Playing", then "Exit To Live TV" in order to get there. (And if I wasn't watching Spectrum when I last turned off Xumo, then it defaults to whatever App I was using last ... not Spectrum Live TV.) At least two clicks plus the typical slow App startup delays is NOT what I would call defaulting to live TV. 2. There is no way to QUIT the Spectrum App completely except by rebooting the Xumo box. (I can tell because when I use Spectrum Quit and then start the App again, it does not recheck my subscription or load the video driver again.) 3. Why can't the Spectrum App remember all of my settings and other things when I quit and come back in? If it can remember my subscription information, it should be able to remember things such as: - Startup Channel always seems to come up on Spectrum News even when I have it turned off. (It should start on the channel to which I was last tuned, but most times it doesn't.) - The App does not always remember when my last view of the Guide was All Channels versus Favorites. I have to switch to Favorites almost every time I start the App.
Our TV sound cuts in and out so badly we can hardly stand to watch it. And for the crazy price you charge for it! It's mostly the news stations: ABC, NBC, CBS, etc. We need to get this taken care of or I swear we will cancel this high-priced, ridiculous service. when I look for a customer service #, it's mainly numbers to sell us something. Or it's all automated. It's so frustration to pay this kind of money and get horrible TV reception.

The app worked quite well when it was released at the beginning of the year. Live streaming worked well. Minor bugs have been quashed and the UI has been refined for the better. Unfortunately, it seems that live streaming has since gone downhill. The worst offenders are the movie channels like HBO and Showtime. They play fine for a few minutes and either the image gets pixelated, freezes with audio or it jumps back to where you started watching. Occasionally, it tunes into a black screen with audio. This does not happen when watching On Demand content. The only other bug is that when I watch On Demand content, the episode I watched will appear in the TV app even though I’ve already seen it. I then have to manually mark it as watched to remove it.
Also, the problem is not my device or internet speed because the iPhone app streams live video without any of these problems. I have the the 4th Gen Apple TV and I’ve deleted and reinstalled the app as well as restarting my Apple TV to no avail. Spectrum doesn’t seem to have a way to give the app developers feedback so I’m hoping giving them a 1-star review will get their attention and they will fix this problem because in its current condition, the app is almost useless for live streaming.

First off, Spectrum won’t allow any user to be proactive when it comes to our own security! Spectrum customers are not allowed to use a VPN! Being denied access to the services we pay them for just because of our added security is now making me question if Spectrum already sells our personal information to the highest (or really any) bidder?? This is extremely scary considering the challenges we already face when it comes to protecting our personal deets along with our children from predators on the Internet! It’s not like we can stop using it! The Internet has become a big part of just about all aspects of everyone’s daily life! So...now the most recent slap in the face being that Spectrum has decided to take away access to the SpectrumTV App from its paying customers that have older working computers like an iPhone, iPad and/or notebook/laptop!! PLUS, they’ve not just blocked the SpectrumTV App from these users, but they’ve also now blocked the ability to watch TV through their website by using browsers like Chrome, Firefox, Edge or Safari!! 🤬 *And others are correct...even using the newest iPhone/iPad this TV app will only allow certain stations available for us to view/watch 🤬😡🤬😡 ‼️

Trying to find a television service we could use when camping and traveling. Spectrum told us we could login to our spectrum account anywhere and watch all our shows, Through cell phone data or other Wi-Fi networks. This was a big lie. Half the channels say you have to be logged into your HOME spectrum Internet in order to access the channels we are paying for. On other Internet providers you have to download the individual apps like an app for Fox, and app for the Food Network etc. and some of the channels that we are paying to watch at home like the golf channel doesn’t have an app. So we’re paying for a lot of channels that we can’t watch unless we’re at home. And for CBS now they have CBS total access App, which is an additional charge even though we’re paying for CBS through spectrum! With DISH you’re able to Log into your DISH account through the dish anywhere app and watch not only live TV but every channel you pay for. And the hopper is an awesome piece of recording equipment. However all these providers are getting too expensive and we too are hoping to cut the cord and go a different route. There needs to be more Internet providers available, spectrum is becoming a huge monster.
