Needs Some Work!

Love the Shipmate App but the developers need to do something about the trolls and people who make nasty comments about others who post just because they don’t like the comment. On some posts it gets completely out of hand and I can easily see you losing a lot of users over nasty people calling others idiot, an asshat, etc. CruiseShipmate shows a minimum age of 4+ years but I would not let my 12 yr old on CruiseShipmate because of the nasty, mean comments.
There needs to be a button to report these nasty users. Flagging a post as inappropriate makes the users comment disappear while you are under that post. But if you go back out to the main feed then back into the same post, the comment that was flagged as inappropriate reappears. Posters should also be able to remove mean comments of others replying to their posts and have the ability to block those users after reporting them.

Cool app

There is definitely room for improvement. The photos section is extremely frustrating to try to add additional pictures to will will now ONLY let me take a picture to add it won’t let me add from my phone photos

One thing I wish they did was let you review and share the excursion information. It lets you book them but I want to share my review after I have done them and that needs improvement

It would also be nice if there was a little more to shipmates so you could search your shipmates and see who would have similar interests that could spark a conversation. As it is now I can see what cruises you have been on and where your from. Bout it. I would rather it have more personal information like what cruise events your interested in, are you traveling as a couple or are you single which would be nice to allow singles to meet on the ship easier or find another couple that may have similar interests. I can see the potential in the shipmates but it has been vastly overlooked and underdeveloped.

Sponsorship

Update to my review: Thank you! Thank you! Thank you for fixing the countdown text field! It looks so much better. Definitely a 5-Star app!

I first want to say that I love CruiseShipmate. My only qualm is with this most recent update. While it fixed the not being able to swipe between views, it added a big blackened text field across the middle with the countdown and the Tag Heuer logo. I get that they sponsor CruiseShipmate now, but that information is already on the bottom of the countdown in big letters. Having this blackened text field across the middle actually distracts from the images behind the countdown. I would say remove the blackened area and either go back to the way it used to look, leaving the Tag Heuer logo on the bottom, or leave it as it is, but remove the blackened overlay and just place information directly on the image.

My personal cruise diary

CruiseShipmate is so well thought out that it refer this to so many people, even travel agent. It’s like a diary that you can go back and recall the cruises you made, port you stopped at, even fellow passengers you traveled with (who down load CruiseShipmate). Share your pictures, view other passenger pictures, experiences and excursions. Even educate yourself like a pro one the ships size, age, venues, speed, capacity (both passengers and crew), ports of call and so much more. And CruiseShipmate is not exclusive to only a couple cruise lines. CruiseShipmate also give you a sneak peek at your up coming cruise and let you log on (check in) and do a roll call, and begin some chatter with fellow cruisers. Hear from the cruise themself. The pros and cons of their experiences, this is absolutely the best app out there if you love to cruise. Even if you’re just thinking about one.

A way to remember

We have been on 23 cruises and can review everyone regardless of the cruise lines we were on. Ship mate has a record of all cruises of all the ships of all the cruise lines for many years. When people ask me what ship I was on and when I was in Belize I check shipmate and tell them I was in Belize 4 years ago on Carnival Freedom then 2 years ago on Norwegian Pearl and I read off the date and view the entire cruise. Brings back all Those memories. The cruise line websites have the records of all the ships and dates you traveled on there ships. It is easy to put in the ship and dates and it is added to your list of cruises. I would like to see a search in shipmate so I can put the port and see the number of times I have been to Costa Maya and what date and ship. I still give shipmate 5 stars. Every cruiser needs it.

Great Cruise App!

I use Ship Mate to keep track of all of my cruises past, present and future! This is my most used cruise app. It’s a great one stop source for everything I need. I like that I can put in my exact room number and then look back at that info easily if I want the same room again sometime. I also use the deck plans often even when on a ship as they are easy to use. Their team was very responsive when I had a question on an itinerary discrepancy on one of my cruises and it was fixed quickly. There are also many different features in CruiseShipmate so that you can get more in depth if you choose to. Photos, excursion info and booking options, chatting with other cruisers, news, deck plans, you name it and it’s probably in CruiseShipmate!

Fun cruise, loved the entertainment and gym classes

I cruised with my 89 year old parents and my daughter in her 30s. We all enjoyed our time together there. We found some activities that we all liked. My daughter and I bought unlimited fitness classes for $30 and enjoyed yoga and cycle class every morning. We also enjoyed the sauna and steam room by the gym which is included and no extra charge.
My older patents liked nightly shows the most and also the casino.
Piano bar was a lot of fun for adults. The music and party goes very late and we could hear it from the inside cabin. If you are looking for a good night rest make sure to pick up a cabin further from entertainment places like a night club or piano bar. It’s a definitely a party cruise. It’s a Vegas like feel which may not be good for everyone.
Staff was always accommodating and polite.
Food was ok. No complaints. But it wasn’t great either.
We got off in Ensenada, walked few streets and had lunch. We didn’t take any excursions because of limited mobility with my parents but we had enjoyed the lunch in Downtown. It was very easy to get off and on the ship.
Overall, it was a great experience and I would take this cruise again.

Excellent App...almost

If your a cruiser, this is your must have app. All cruise lines, all ships, and even some out of service ships. No matter what ship I'm sailing, CruiseShipmate has a ton of info on it, a great way to meet & greet new people before we even get onboard!! Just can't say enough how refreshing it is to have an app like Ship Mate.
Update: 7/6/19
Well I must say I’m starting to get frustrated with CruiseShipmate. The download for offline use doesn’t work. And now, with the latest update, all the information I spend days inputting for all my cruises, is gone. No cabin numbers, no pictures, no notes. Everything is blank. So I’m lowering my rating from 5 to 3, and redoing all my info. I love CruiseShipmate , but this is unacceptable.

Saved $200 within minutes of downloading this app

I’m not one to review apps all that often but I wanted to for this one! It’s a great resource for both ship activities and shore excursions. I find the latter difficult to research so this is really the best and easiest place to do so as you’re getting info strictly from cruisers. I’m also incredibly impressed with the price alert feature. As soon as I downloaded CruiseShipmate , I went to set up price alerts for my upcoming cruise and found it was listed for $100 cheaper per person. I thought maybe this was misinformation but sure enough I called NCL and got the new, lower rate for my husband and I. $200 in my pocket thanks to a free app, I’d say that’s pretty worth it!

Amazing!

CruiseShipmate is so cool and has me so pumped for my upcoming cruise! I love the countdown and how easy it is for me to see the cruise ship reviews, pictures, and even my cabin! I’m so looking forward to leaving reviews about my upcoming cruise. I highly recommend CruiseShipmate for anyone who loves cruising, has a cruise coming up, looking for a first time cruise, or just someone who loves to read real reviews about cruising. I’ve recommended CruiseShipmate to everyone cruising with me because it’s that amazing. I wish I could give CruiseShipmate 10 stars because it definitely deserves it! I love love love Ship Mate and if you don’t then you’re definitely doing something wrong on CruiseShipmate !!!

Cruising style

Ok I like CruiseShipmate I use it constantly and it performs well. But I have one problem . We have sailed Holland America and carnival. The rate saver/ watcher that you can turn on that watches for better rates for your room is not good. CruiseShipmate is ok for interior, balcony , or regular rooms , it does not watch for rates changes for Neptune suites or pinnacle suites, or signature verandah , or junior suites , or king suites . So the info is not correct . Other than that I love the pics and the feedback on the site. Although the pics that are political and other than cruising does find its way on the site. You have to report it and it takes forever to get removed .

Best Cruising App Ever

I would definitely highly recommend getting CruiseShipmate! You get real reviews, pictures, and maps about any ship or port. You can look at future itineraries, ship stats, tips about cruising, and so so much more. It is very informative and super fun too. The countdown to my cruise makes me happy every time I open CruiseShipmate ! Seriously, if you want to research ships/ports this is the perfect app.

A suggestion to the team for improvements would be having a way that when you are exploring a port you can see when and which ships are going there. That is my only suggestion. Great work, keep it up!

Quick! Download CruiseShipmate before you board your ship, and get tons of information😊

Very nice comments

I got CruiseShipmate about a month ago and I love it I have posted like almost 10 pics and every comment was just very kind and heart warming and I just love seeing all the people that have been on like a bunch of Royal Caribbean Oasis Class ships that are just humongous and just huge but overall it is a great app and I would definitely recommend CruiseShipmate for anyone that is looking for a great cruise ship app with group chats and roll call chats and different cruise ship chats and I just can’t say enough about CruiseShipmate but I’m just a kid and the only reason I have CruiseShipmate is because I am absolutely obsessed with cruise ships and I just love seeing all the other cruise ships people have been on.

Celebrity Edge

We just completed a 7 day western Caribbean cruise on the Edge,we had a party of 14 and we all enjoyed the ship. The food was prepared and taste great but fewer choices on menu to pick from. We enjoyed the Eden dining room and entertainment .
The theater entertainment was a mix review from our party, I enjoyed all show but some of the party was not impressed with the first two production shows, they said they did not have much variety between the two shows. The December 63 show was top notch and enjoyed by all. The layout of ship was a little confusing and not layout as other Celebrity Ships. Shop were too top ended and expensive.

Second cruise with this app

I very much enjoyed using CruiseShipmate a year ago for a cruise. It made it easy to find places on the ship, see what was going on, and when, and listed a bunch of excursions that you could buy in CruiseShipmate or show the cruise people and purchase onboard.
This year I’ve checked out pictures of our ship from people cruising right now ( we don’t go for 5 days), checked out the deck diagrams - this is a different ship we are on this year - and have “met” a few shipmates in the chat.
Great to check out when you’re really getting excited about going!!!!

Cruise app or dating app?

I used CruiseShipmate for our last cruise and it was great. We just booked another cruise for 2021 and I just reinstalled CruiseShipmate for our new cruise. Since then, I have been getting all of these random people wanting to be my “shipmate” and sending messages about how pretty I am. Seriously? I’m in a relationship and didn’t get CruiseShipmate to have random weird people hit on me or want to be my friend. None of these people are even going to be on my cruise. Maybe if there was a way to make your profile private and only have shipmates who you know or are actually going to be on the same cruise as you it would be better. Right now it’s kind of ridiculous!

Best Travel App 4 Crusing!

I love using Ship Mate for a couple reasons. 1, I like to see my upcoming cruises and how many days I have left; although, that can sometimes be depressing too if it’s 400 days away! 2, I like the roll call feature so that you can get to know who else will be sailing and become friends before you even get on the ship! 3, I just recently used the price alert function and it’s already saved me some money on a few cruises! As I use CruiseShipmate more and more I’m finding even more things I love. Thanks for making this intuitive and fun app!

Good, but has issues

The good - get information from other cruisers about the ship/itinerary you are planning on, hook up with people, easily get reviews, a quick record of all your ships and itineraries (assuming you enter the cruise), price is free.

The bad - lack of formatting in reviews especially no paragraphs, too many times of taking several minutes to connect, several times a month losing either recent, earlier, or all postings for a while, a number of idiots who are playing around or single minded (a storm forced the ship to miss port(s), rate ship/cruise as a 1? Saw some trash or rust, ship/cruise is a 1? Internet lousy...yup, a 1).

Conclusion - worth getting for the good as long as the bad does put you in a dither.

Interesting and Informative

I really enjoy the pictures people post, particularly the ones of the ships and cabins. I get a true sense of size and quality.
The reviews are fun to read. I take them all with a grain of salt because they are, ultimately, that persons opinion. Nonetheless I do read and compare.
I have noticed most of the reviews are of the big ships, maybe one day I will travel with a younger crowd and take the plunge. For now my heart belongs to Holland America, elegant mid size ships with beautiful, comfortable cabins and dependable, good quality, plentiful food plus low-key cruise life, is just what we love.

A wealth of Information

I just recently downloaded CruiseShipmate, and I’m so grateful that I did. CruiseShipmate is def the best source to use if you want to get information about your cruise, ship, room, ports etc. I actually learned through here that my room was an obstructed view room, and I was able to call and have that changed. I never would have know without CruiseShipmate . I love the interaction with other people who’ve cruised the same cruise you have and to get tips and advice from the community! Def get CruiseShipmate!

Why I love the Shipmate App

I first became aware of CruiseShipmate before we left to go on our first cruise (aboard “Carnival Valor” in 2017) and found to be a good source of information about what to expect while on a cruise. Although there are a few negative comments posted by some folks, you should take such comments with a big grain of salt and form your own opinion once you’ve onboard your ship because you’ll find that some commentators have or had unrealistic expectations (and some people just can’t be pleased🤨). It has been a useful App for me personally and I’d recommend it anyone considering taking us cruise, which has been the most relaxing and enjoyable vacation experience my wife and I have had in years🤠.
