I’ve enjoyed my time with this app and have a subscription but I have a few major issues. First, the feature of being able to add new words introduced during the lessons to your vocabulary list is VERY inconsistent. I simply don’t understand why it will allow you to add only some of the vocabulary that is introduced to your saved list. This is a major problem for me as I must go back and review vocabulary words to retain them. There also seems to be a glitch with how it determines whether a word is weak, medium, or strong. For example, the word Entschuldigung will simply never switch from weak for me no matter how many times I review it correctly. Finally, I wish whatever algorithm they use to determine which words in the review section popped up during practice was better at varying the words more consistently. Having said that, I am definitely enhancing my knowledge of the German language with Busuu.

Level A2 is only okay. Beginning at B1 it assumes you are able to read every lesson in German and figure the rest out in your own. If that’s the case, then it isn’t doing it’s job of getting you there first. Now I have to quit and take an entire course elsewhere to move forward. The best part is the social aspect and the ability to have native speakers grade your work (and basically teach you everything Busuu doesn’t).

Let me start by saying this app has helped me improve my German immensely. I love the feature that allows you to practice writing and speaking with the vocabulary just learned. However, I have seen a small percentage of people give corrections on text specifically for those learning English that aren’t completely correct and I wish there was a way to prove that there is a certain standard of fluency that the person grading your exercises has. I love that when teaching vocabulary specifically, there are always lots of example sentences and you can hear them aloud. I wish that after each section you had the option of listening aloud. Overall, I truly love this app
