After purchasing iDatabase I find that BACKUP and EXPORT are NOT AVAILABLE without a dropbox—on-line account.
iDatabase description states that the database(s) can be stored locally without mentioning an on-line account creation requirement. This “small” contingency for BACKUP and EXPORT capability nullifies the promise for off-line access.
*True privacy* is when you don’t give your information—i.e. medical records, health related data, sensitive data—to any and all that state they can be trusted (not to financially prosper from collected data, not to borrow creative rights, not to disclose intentionally or have data lost/copied by disgruntle employee or anyone that wants to wreak havoc)
Daily living may request information for an office to track via an office visit or postal mail, but why should I jeopardize myself to identity theft by using the “worldwide” web.
**Basically, this app advertised off-line feature without disclosing the true on-line requirement.

It’s a great database builder for simple things. It freezes and gets locked up when making a data entry sometimes(fixed by restarting app). Lucky when hat happens no data is lost. If the developers attempted they could do so much more with iDatabase. For starters they could make a Windows interface because the one they have is only available for Mac. Second they could make the back-ups automatic. Third they could make the calculations with ability extract information from other fields and then perform calculations(like in Excel or numbers app). I would pay more for these features if they offered it.

I have been searching for a good inventory app since the Itemizer app is no longer. I like the ease of customization for those of us not schooled in programming, as well as the ability to store my data directly on my iPad with no monthly cloud storage fee. Suggestion for a function to scroll through and view photos only in a given folder. (Itemizer spoiled me) Also when choosing a photo to accompany my entry, you have to go through too many prompts to add. With that said, the best database app I have found available so far.

It’s such an easy way to keep track of things from membership lists to collections to websites. It’s not real fancy, but there’s no learning curve and you are immediately productive. Allows syncing between Mac and iOS versions and has a few little nice to have features like auto browser links to stored websites and email program links from email addresses. I intended to use it for a small membership list, but it’s so easy and quick that I find myself using it for all kinds of lists every day!

Does not store its data on iCloud as far as I can tell, so manual backup only. If you can copy a database file to start a new DB with the same structure, I haven't figured it out. But, within its limitations, this is a terrific little program. Setting up a database is fall-off-a-log simple. Program is very stable and I have lost no data. Perfect for simple databases like a catalogue for a book collection or a database of article ideas, or as a notes app.

I want to love iDatabase because it’s clean and easy to use and I really, really need it. I purchased the iPad version yesterday and am using the inventory template with modest field changes. I’ve only managed to get to 36 items because iDatabase crashes with E V E R Y item after ~15th. It’s SO frustrating. I thought perhaps it might be due the photo attachments from my camera roll so I deleted them, but it continues to crash. So sad! ☹️

I really don’t want to start over with another app, I greatly appreciate that this app can store the files on the device rather than as a Cloud/internet file which I want nothing to do with.

BTW, I’m using a 2019 iPad Air with 256GB HDD.

It works. You can enter in Fields and create your own database.

However, it doesn’t let you run reports. It also doesn’t let you add a $ sign to money tabs. You can only do simple calculations of items that are labeled in your screen. It is very basic. If you are using it to just catalog then it’s great. However, don’t expect it to run a report, create relationships or calculate fixed numbers. You have to type them in every time and add the number to every entry. So for passwords and Collections this is great. However, I wouldn’t use it as a business tool.

Installed ver 7.1 and now any change to password field causes DB to crash. Started to use the DB for about a month. Was just about to review when this problem happened.

this app is a clean and simple DB solution to my need for a DB. Hope there will be a quick solution or I will move to another app.

It’s a good app that gets down what I need it to, however the only way to back up your databases is threw Dropbox. I don’t have a Dropbox and have no desire to sign up for another service, it would be better if iDatabase support iCloud. This could not only allow for easy backup, but also a way to sync between Mac & iOS version. You can still support Dropbox but given those of us that don’t have/ want to use it could use iCloud.

This is an extremely good and very easy to use app. I love that you can create custom categories and design templates. I only wish that the contents were more secure... having only a 4 number password pin guarding my sensitive information is a bit unnerving. Touch ID would be kool. However, I'm still grateful for and happy with iDatabase:)

I use iDatabase all the time and love it, but this new update changed the color which for me sometimes is hard to read. I have looked everywhere but can’t find a way to change it. Hope they issue an update that will let you change color, this is such a great app.

I’ve set up a database with a number items and iDatabase works well, but there are a few issues:

1) Emailing a database does nothing - no email window ever comes up;
2) When creating fields in Choose Field, the name is pre-filled with “Item __” and every time we have to tap in the field, backspace to the beginning, then add our field name. How about a clear button, or better yet leave it blank with the cursor in place to type?
3) It would be great to be able to add a new record while in another record. When I have a number of records to add, when I finish each one I have back out to create a new one.

As of last update, all but 1 of the bugs I cited were fixed. The remaining one is the missing x icon when editing certain fields. That said, this is an outstanding app, which I use extensively for various custom tasks.

I use iDatabase to keep track of my model train inventory and it is easy and versatile. I recommend iDatabase esp if you need to keep track of your collection.

This is a great app. I have been using it for years. The support is great, iDatabase itself is simple to use. I highly recommend it.

Imports files from MS Access saved as txt files with ease.
Allows me to see important data on the road in some moderately-sized datasets, and is quite fast in searching.
A great program to have on your iDevices!

Great database app, but it has potential to be even better. Here’s some suggestions:

1. Icon selection for databases.
2. Title for separator.
3. Option to prevent direct editing (only by Edit button).
4. Label custom color for each database.
5. Less space between fields.
6. Support right to left languages (option to shift labels to right)
7. Option to hide empty fields.
8. Folders or Tags support.
9. Circular scrolling, not back and forth.

Large text field has no done button and sometimes the bottom half of the screen goes white and app needs to be reloaded to correct.

Started to explore the new download, clicked on one of the templates and could not get out of that template. I’m stuck there with no way out! Waste of $.99!

Right now limited single photo insert per field. Record field need the ability to insert/upload multiple photos
