Fairytrail: Friends & Dating Reviews

Deeply disappointed in Fairytrail. The premise of it sounded unique at first until you download and subscribe. Then it’s a whole other monster. They ask you for fee after fee. They also state it’s a one time low fee but it adds up. It feels really scummy to ask a $2 fee just to pick San Francisco as a place to meet your date considering it’s just part of the game (match the same places), Fairytrail isn’t giving you anything for $2. Other places are free. It sort of manipulates people’s answer because no one is going to pay $$ after fee just to play the game to be able to talk to your match. It’s tedious and takes too much time. Not even worth the $2.99 introductory fee it initially forces you to make before you can even swipe. Tinder is better even though tinder you are not meeting as many travelers at least Fairytrail doesn’t charge you non stop for silly things that take so long. I’m shocked Fairytrail doesn’t have 1 star because it should. The creators aren’t travelers they are money hungry who are capitalizing off of travelers will to meet their own kind. It’s really scummy. Try couchsurfing, it’s free and you meet tons of verified travelers who have reviews etc.

(1) The profiles aren’t substantial enough to help you identify a match, so it feels like Tinder (in that you’re mainly using pictures) but with location set to an entire country.
(2) The mini game to match destinations is pointless, because most people pick “anywhere” as an option.
(3) The chat feature is horrendous. Even Fairytrail suggests you trade contact info as soon as possible and move to a different service. The annotations that mark a conversation as “my turn” never go away, even after I responded, so I’m just manually checking through every conversation when I open Fairytrail .
(4) I get notifications in the middle of the day to “check my matches” even though I already did in the morning. It’s like the notifications are on a timer rather looking at the account.

What an amazing and refreshing app! The ability to connect with people based on common travel/culture/adventure interests and lifestyle choices. The feature to choose a character which embodied a personality type allows for a streamlined and accurate way to match with others. I had the pleasure of speaking with the creator of Fairytrail, who is lovely, creative and kind. I so appreciate this hands on approach. I felt very heard and there are some amazing new features being added for those seeking adventure partners, connect romantically or make friends. Highly recommend.

Been using Fairytrail for about a week now and honestly it’s been so fun. I usually find dating apps frustrating, but this has been the only app I’m actually excited to check! Being location-independent / a remote worker, it’s been amazing to get connected with people around the world who share a similar lifestyle. Plus I love the unique touches like choosing your “character” (I’m Ariel the mermaid!) and choosing your “destination” together! Overall, I recommend Fairytrail to anyone who loves travel, enjoys learning about other cultures, and values meaningful human connection.

I paid the fee and started matching. On the first time matching, one of my matches said she was looking for a sugar daddy. I thought paying the fee was to avoid people like this? To chat with anyone after both of you adore each other you need to play a “matching game”. If you don't guess right you can't talk to the other person! This feature should be removed. There is no way to try and match with someone locally or nearby. Fairytrail probably assumes you both are okay with long-distance relationships at first. I highly doubt anyone looking for a relationship using Fairytrail is making any progress. Fairytrail limits you to only a small amount of matches a day. Fairytrail doesn't feel ready and seems nearly useless for anyone who is remote

I downloaded this because I was interested in a writing job for Fairytrail ... and I am not sure I am still interested. There were only two gender options, so anyone outside the gender binary cannot properly use Fairytrail . It didn’t ask me what gender I’m interested in. Instead, it annoyingly assumed I wanted to look at men. You can change this afterwards, but it bothers me that it automatically tried to show me men. Also, when you go to upload pictures, it gives you a link to an article telling you what is “attractive” on a dating app. I’m not trying to sell myself and I don’t appreciate the assumption that your looks are extremely important. It also tells you that you need a full body picture, which further emphasizes that point. I deleted this very quickly. Bumble is better.

I have been traveling the world & working remotely for a year. I have tried Tinder & Bumble & Hinge, but nothing served my need to find a partner with similar values & lifestyle. Fairytrail cuts through so much of the BS in the online dating community. Video chatting with someone before I go in that dreaded first date is essential so I can actually know what I am getting into & completely eliminates all the catfish on other apps! I love the idea of booking a group adventure too because now I have so much more in common to talk about & don’t have to go on group tours alone. OBSESSED.

Got Fairytrail a few weeks ago and was super excited to be connecting with like-minded travelers from all over the world. Purchased one of their add-ons, and immediately started having trouble with it. Reached out twice to the team and received no response (once two weeks ago and once yesterday)

Pros:

Being able to connect with other nomads
Cool travel match idea
Paid requirement keeps out scammers

Cons:

Changing your filters while searching stops you from being able to search for the rest of the day

Using one of the amulets is supposed to allow you a certain number of searches, but that number varies wildly. One day it was five, another it was two, and another was 20.

App is glitchy and not optimized for chat (though they do tell you this, so at least they’re above board)

Zero communication from Fairytrail team when reaching out to address a problem. Even if it’s a quick fix, the team should be addressing the issues of their customers. What’s the point otherwise?

Not sure about you guys, but I travel a lot and that makes traditional dating difficult. This is a neat idea to connect with people for whom travel is a lifestyle rather than a social liability.

I’m new to the service so can’t report on personal success, but I will say that I emailed them with a question and heard back from a real person within ten minutes! Good to know they take customer experience that seriously.

The this app app deserves five stars because it’s unique. While other dating apps and even dating sites only match you with people, this app takes it a step farther and offers you the option of virtual dates that can be experienced from the comfort of your home. Amid the pandemic, this quality is needed now more than ever, solidifying it as a must-have app. Thanks to the this app team for creating this fantastic app!

Tried using app and found someone I liked so I paid the “entry fee” but it would not allow me to continue. Lost that one! I continued on to other people but they want you to pay the “entry fee” again, just to like someone. Not even anything else like contacting them. It won’t let you even like a person without paying again! Well I wouldn’t pay the “one time fee” again anyway especially considering I lost the one person because it wouldn’t let me continue anyway. So paid for nothing. I did try to email them and they emailed me back….. asking for my email. Enough said?

Fairytrail is perfect for somebody who wants to date within the scope of sharing a travel experience together. I love the fact that we match based on a travel experience, and have the ability to chat before seeing each other at the location. Would definitely recommend to someone a bit more on the adventurous side. A wonderful, refreshing concept.

One of the biggest struggles of remote work and the location independent lifestyle is finding someone else with the same values & lifestyle. I love how this app is helping to solve this problem. Not to mention - Fairytrail is super fun to use and makes you feel like you’re in the process of writing your own little fairytale :)

As a digital nomad Fairytrail was just what I was looking for. Very intuitive and much better than other dating apps that aren’t focused on matching you with people outside your location or looking to have great shared adventures. Looking forward to seeing how this product improves

I have been using Fairytrail ever since 2 people, who met using Fairytrail, took my tour in Colorado. I heard about the concept and the support team is magnificent. If you have any problems whatsoever they are willing to help. Fairytrail is a safe way to meet people from all around the world and experience new places. I highly recommend!!

I downloaded Fairytrail yesterday, set up my profile, went through my first matches and was told to come back tomorrow for new matches. I went to sign in this evening and it said an administrator removed my account... I’m pretty bummed, but mostly confused.

There was nothing compromising on my account— wholesome pictures mom would be proud of, no cursing or derogatory words in my bio, and I didn’t interact with any matches. Hoping for some answers. I didn’t even get an email notifying my that my account was deactivated :(

This is not your average dating app. You match on activities you want to do - instead of the boring coffee first date. You have a better discovery of the other person’s personality & interests. On top of that, the identity is verified by booking the first activity through this app. Better & safer. And more fun! Can’t beat that!

I love that I can meet people from all over the world that I otherwise wouldn’t meet. Fairytrail freshens up the first date experience by making it into an adventure. The concept also helps with vetting people’s seriousness. There’s less of rushing to meetup and more encouraging, quality exchanges.

I like that Fairytrail is very future thinking, more people start working from home everyday. Being digital nomad leads to a lot of travel and it doubles the fun if you found someone share the same lifestyle! The design theme remind me of Disneyland and love the dusty 🌹 pink color!

Traveling frequently for work and play makes finding a similar partner difficult sometimes. Love the idea behind this. I matched with someone right away and we’ve been chatting. Have yet to do one of the curated adventures but looking forward to it.

As an adventurous person who loves travel and haven’t been having much luck with the local dating market, I’m excited that this product showed up to expand my dating pool. Excited to try it out and see how it goes.

Haven’t gotten any matches yet, but it’s fun to see who’s out there.

I haven’t even used the site yet but Taige the creator and founder is so personable and his vision is pure in intention. He’s a friend to all and he’s creating a place for a unique communal experience. Highly recommend. Can’t wait to see how it keeps evolving.

Fairytrail is user friendly! Easy to function and has such a great concept. Definitely ideal for us lonely travelers looking for love💗 can’t wait to see who I match up with🤗
