Utility Spreadsheet Reviews

Originally loaded on 3GS. Worked great. Ads were fine. Tried to upgrade but it would not read old spreadsheets created with free version, so went back to free version. NOW: Loaded on 6+. Tried to upgrade and start fresh. Would not take Apple Pay. Wanted credit card number. No way. Free version: Every action brings up full page noisy kid game advertisement. No way. Uninstalling. Begrudgingly going to use Google Sheets (which admittedly is a much more polished product) though I wanted to support small producers, but current version is WAY too abusive. Unless Google Sheets makes me mad, I won't be back. One thing I will miss: I liked the ability to put number and label in same cell and still use in equations
e.g. "2 apples" + "4 apples" = 6.

I’ve been using this great little spreadsheets app for a whole year. I do my monthly household budget on it. It’s not the best but I was used to it. Yesterday I decided to delete a months worth of rows. When I highlighted the rows and hit delete it took about a minute to do it. But it came back up and my spreadsheet looked fine. Looked at it today and my whole spreadsheet is gone. I have noticed I couldn’t use the file save button for a while now, but I just closed it from my iPad and that saved it. But when I closed it this time something happened. Even though it didn’t appear to have a problem when I closed it. I don’t trust UtilitySpreadsheet any more.

Spent 8 hours adding data for trading card inventory. Decided to sort by play alphabetically. When I did this it only sorted the players and didn’t carry the rest of the info in each row, scrambling up all 1000 plus rows of data. No way to revert now without starting over. Clicking undo only removes boxes of data. Complete waste of my time. I WILL NEVER use UtilitySpreadsheet again. These companies should be held liable for their crappy products and be forced to compensate people for their time using their products and it not work as it should. Will definitely be using excel from now on…., a spreadsheet that actually works as it should.

easy to use layout, love the touch field and a popup comes up for options. would be great program, one i would of liked the most so far but, it will not print! every time i try using print, app freezes for awhile before eventually shutting itself down. makes program kinda worthless to me. Also, when you use email option, it acts like you are sending it and then sits in your outbox and never gets sent out, it just continuously tries to send itself out but, never does no matter what email account i use. Maybe you have to pay and upgrade for print feature to work but, i doubt it, upgrade only mentions it is to remove Ads. perhaps, the Ads are preventing print from working, have had a couple other apps with Ads in them not work right until i turned internet off but, i need internet to connect to printer so turning internet off is not an option and paying $3 to upgrade just to find print feature still doesn't work is not an option either unless i know for a fact it would fix print issue for sure!!

Am unable to select entire rows and columns anymore, and the sort-data feature hasn’t been working either. I went so far as to delete UtilitySpreadsheet entirely and re-download it but nothing works. Without the ability to select and sort data columns this becomes about useless for what I need.

It’s proven to be ok. Don’t know if I’m using it wrong but I feel as though promptly after getting UtilitySpreadsheet , I kept being instructed to upgrade in order to make any progress in UtilitySpreadsheet . Didn’t like that and cancelled; even though it was just $2.99, I just didn’t like what felt like a bait and switch. So in my limited use it was ok. Served a very limited purpose, but worked for the purpose needed.

Really like this basic spreadsheet for my uncomplicated needs. I wish I could use it on both my iPads but they don’t sync and saving is useless. Mostly I’m concerned we’re pretty much on our own because am not seeing signs of life from Luminant Software. UtilitySpreadsheet hasn’t been updated in a year or more and their website doesn’t indicate their other apps have either.

UtilitySpreadsheet is easy to use and has good functionality. The ability to easily add color features to the sheet is really a plus.
There are some missing features that I would use and enjoy. I would like an arrow button to move to the next cell. Currently it is necessary to press enter then manually select the next cell. I would also like to be able to have more than one spreadsheets.

This is a nice app that pretty much meets my needs, especially the fact it’s a free app. The only problem I cannot seem to resolve is setting the margins on the documents. It causes what would be a one page document to become two pages because I can’t make the margins more narrow. It’s also frustrating because I can’t find any support that may help.

Old retired gentleman with minor hand tremors spends most of the time moving around these sheets on an iPad studying the ebb and flow of my retirement investment data. Please add a “lock cell edit” command to get the 6 stars. About half my move-screen attempts launch me into a cell edit that I have to cancel. I occasionally find nonsensical data or formula results that, in part at least, are unintentional cell edits. I love UtilitySpreadsheet but.....

I like the easy to use format with a daily tip pop up. You can cancel it if you like. I have the free version, so of course there are ads but I don’t mind. One quirk is when I add color to the background cell, I lose the % that I want. It reverts to a simple number. So after I’ve added the color, I need to correct the format to %.

Upside:
- free, and only three bux to kill the not-very-intrusive ads
- works well for basic-to-middling projects (my need is to keep a spread sheet record of the many new parts I'm ordering for my cafe racer motorcycle conversion project, and to keep a running talley of costs and funds remaining in my assigned budget)
Downside:
- Minimal documentation and instruction
- Somewhat clumsy to use compared to Excel
-reliability unknown at this point because I've only been using it a week or so, but so far no issues. I make screenshots of new additions for a back up

Summary:
nicely fulfills my need for a simple and cheap spreadsheet for home projects!

Been using for years but with the latest update I noticed that when I make a change, it doesn't always recalculate. I have to manually edit every calculated field. Since I use this for my finances, I no longer have confidence in it. I notified the developer but haven't heard back.

I only have being using UtilitySpreadsheet for a little bit but it’s great! Super easy for me to control, just one thing, the advertisements at the bottom get in the way when you start working on the lower area.

Like this spreadsheet, but it erased my data on both my IPAD AND IPHONE, when I was reloading after changing my IPAD to a new one. So disappointed because I had data on it requested from my doctor. I started putting the data into. January 28, 2016 and it was even erased from my IPhone

I really like UtilitySpreadsheet for a list of part numbers & locations for work. Please update the Print options. The Range doesn’t allow to print certain columns. I’m unable to print columns A-G and rows 1-200, for example. It wants to print 1,000+ pages of emptiness. The only disappointment. *Note-going into settings on my phone allowed me to turn on BLANK CELLS OMIT “=“. Huge time saver in my case.

I have been using this for years more often as a data base than computational set though I do have sums and calculations involved. It has good flexibility and inquiries get good responses from the designer. I have not had the problems describes with e-mailing. I do wish it had definable areas for printing like it does for sorting (which I use frequently). I also wish it had an option to set a sort area as the norm. For free I do not think one could ask for or expect more in efficiency and dependability.

I read the reviews first and they are spot on. This is Great if you dont need a lot of the bells and whistles of Excel and don't want to spend the money. So far so good. Would highly recommend and am considering purchasing to support the developers, as one user mentioned he did. I also agree with that user that The pop up adds are not annoying. I also agree about supporting, rewarding and encouraging innovation.

Powerful yet easy to use. I use it for everything, including shopping lists, extensive check-lists and financial analysis. I, however, miss the “cut and paste” inside a cell feature you used to have and ask that you bring it back. With this feature, you can still search the internet by pasting info into your browser copied right from a cell. 🤞 🙏
UPDATE: Thanks for putting back the cut & paste! This makes moving data around much easier and faster.

I wanted a very basic spreadsheet for my iPhone to use to track monthly expenses. While I am adept at Excel, it was way more than I needed for this purpose. This program does all that I ask of it. It may even have other capabilities beyond adding and subtracting numbers, but right now that’s all I use it for. The ads are not particularly annoying.
