Nice App but needs updating

I used MetrO a few years back. However, the maps have not been updated this 2024.

Awful

Just give me a map. I don't want to enter in addresses. I want a map to actually see the system. Worst transit app ever.

Improvements

MetrO would be SOo much better if they showed the times when the busses passed by a certain street. I am a frequent this app bus user and ever if I know where u need to go, it dosnt help me all that much if I don't know when the bus is Gina be there. I ask this to be improved because some buses they pass so infrequently that Im stuck there waiting for about an hour where as I could have taken another bus that passes more frequents had I known the time schedualed. Now I'm not saying this isn't a good app, I'm just saying it could be so much better.

You D Best!

One of the oldest most effective transit apps EVER!!!
I first came to it when the Palm i705 came out; MetrO been every single mobile device Iโ€™ve had.
I Always forget to donate to the developer, My Bad.
Best of all: as as you download your appropriate maps to MetrO, you wonโ€™t need internet, map files are usually less than half an mp3 file.
Four stars on account of the GPS feature never working and that it is difficult to find in apps stores across all platforms, even when through their website.
Thank you!

Flawless port of the Palm app

Straightforward port of the Palm app. Excellent public transit planner, since unlike oh-so-many other apps, it has several decent features: 1. It caches data, so you don't need a Wifi or 3G connection to plan your travel, 2. It has data for just about every public transit system out there, and 3. It's free

My only requests? 1. Could they get the London *day* buses integrated into the London schedule? The buses are often a faster solution than the Tube and trains. 2. Actual route maps would be good, 3. Integration with the maps application.

But an outstandingly good initial iPhone app

At last MetrO for iPhone

I have waited anxiously for Patrice to complete his development effort to enable this app's use on iPhone. And finally.....thank you Patrice.....that time has come. this app is one of those applications that once utilized becomes indespensible. I held onto my old trek 650 much longer than I otherwise would have because I did not want to lose access to this app. You will not find another more functional and capabile transport app. The fact that it is offerred for free is amazing. Patrice a paypal donation is headed your way. THANKS AGAIN!

EEEXXXCCCEEELLLEENNTTT!!!!

I've been waiting for this to get transferred over from the Palm OS. MetrO is THE best Subway/this app app on the market! It has practically every city you'd ever go to, and it makes you feel like a pro navigating all the different transportation networks of the world. I felt naked NOT having MetrO when I switched from the Palm to the iPhone. I wish i had it when I was in Barcelona recently. It's packed full of tonns of useful info on transportation networks and tourist attractions. Best of all... It's FREE!!!!! I can't recommend MetrO enough!!!!!!

Thank you for this app!

In short, this app has helpful transit information on a lot of cities worldwide. I used this in 4 cities in Europe and I am really glad I had this. Sure, maybe there are some stops missing from here but still, if you don't have an internet connection or you want to save data while traveling, MetrO is for you.
Tip: you need to know the stop name in order to make use of this (unless the stop is a landmark). I used an offline map app (also free) with public transport stops to look up the stop names.

Excellent Port

I was a this app user when I had a Palm for many years. It's the only app that thus far I haven't found an iPhone equivilent. They have finally ported it over. It feels like an iPhone application but still retains the useful features of the Palm version. If you live or work in a city, or travel this is an essential application. It makes life so much easier to just enter your location and where you want to go and get a list of your travel options. At this price (free) you get way more than you paid for.

Best App to Get Around

I started using MetrO on my Palm Treo, and thought it was good. My DH and I were visiting family in Tokyo, I had this app and he had something else. this app was so much better than what he had, he downloaded it before we went out the next day.

Sure, it has some glitches. On one rail line it said to ride to the end and switch trains. But you have to exit the system and enter the next; if we got off one stop before the end we'd be able to transfer across a platform.

My Treo is dying a long, slow death, but I've already downloaded this app for my new iPhone.

A long-standing favourite app!

I have used this app for the last 10 years, starting with a Palm Pilot, then a Windows mobile device, a Blackberry and now the iPhone. this app has always been a tremendous aid in my travels. Easy to use and very informative, and it gets better with each iteration.

I am consistently amazed by and indebted to the authors who continue to add cities and update existing ones in a FREE application. If like me you find this app useful send them a donation in recognition of their efforts.

If you find gaps in the data for your city please contact the authors. I have found them to be very responsive and they depend upon users to keep their databases current.

To summarize, if you plan to use public transport in the cities that you visit then you need this application. I know of no other application that covers the transportation networks of as many cities and as thoroughly as this app does. Worth 5 stars and more.

Best app, and it works in many cities.

I've used this app for several years, and it is my go-to app for navigating public transportation when I travel. I'm in dozens of different cities every year, and this app allows me to travel like a Local. I've tried a number of different apps, as well as services built into the mapping apps on my phone, but nothing beats this app.

Finally and Fantastic!

This is a FANTASTIC app for those who travel regularly and tend to use public transportation. I began using this app 5 years ago when I had a Palm Treo. I have held onto my Palm Treo all these years (even without service) just to use MetrO. I have been following the progress of this app from the beginning and I am thrilled that it has finally hit MetrO store.

Run, do not walk, and get this free fantastic app. MetrO would be great at a few dollars or more and it's even more amazing at free!

Everyone who grabs this should remember it's always nice to donate to developers that put out quality products for free.

Loved this metro app or agesโ€”my #1 favorite travel app!

I too, have used MetrO since the PALM days and there are no words to describe how helpful itโ€™s been to me during my travels to Europe. I recommend it to all my friends and thank the developers for making it as much a part of my travels as my passport!

FINALLY!!!! It's Here and Fantastic!

Along with Documents To Go, this app is FINALLY FINALLY FINALLY made it's way to the iPhone. A huge huge thunderous applause and surge of gratitude to the makes of this app. I've been following their blog and understand their initial balking at porting over this app to the iPhone. But with the encouragement of literally thousands of patrons and this app fans front all over they buckled down and delivered. I honestly can now consider my transition from my last smartphone to the iPhone complete with MetrO.

I have used this app for years and it has come in handy numerous times in different cities, from San Francisco to Paris. Up until now I was literally lost without it! Eeek!

Thank you Patrice and Frank for listening to your patrons and coming out with an iPhone version. You have won your friends over a thousandfold.

MetrO rocks, and keeps getting better

This is one wicked cool app. It runs well and now supports mapping even better with this latest release. The beauty is that when you select any (and I mean any) metropolitan area, you usually get all interconnected modes of mass-transit (sometimes even Night buses and shuttle buses). As an example, the "San Francisco" download contains info for BART, Muni, Caltrain, VTA LIghtrail. Some cities even have their ferries added. I have use MetrO around the world on my old Palm and now my iPhone, and it just continues to get better. It has saved my bacon more times than I can count. Many thanks to the authors for MetrO getting ported to the iPhone. I'm not sure why all the negative ratings with no reviews, my guess is lame competitors are bashing it. Ignore them. It is a free app. Download it for yourself and try it out. If you travel for fun, you should get MetrO. If you travel for work...you NEED MetrO.

Unbelievably useful app

On my first trip to Tokyo, I took a variety of tools with me in order to find my way around the city's train system. Maps, complex apps, and then a little piece of software called this app. I had never expected that not only would MetrO be as useful as it ended up being, but that I would only need it and nothing else.

With a lot of other apps, they're about trying to shove complex maps or information onto a small screen. With this app, I get only what I actually need: clear and easy-to-understand directions on how to get from the station I'm at, to the station I want to be at. And, of course, because this app works offline, it's always there for me at times that other apps have no ability to be.

I've now used this app for both visits to Tokyo and San Francisco, and it's never let me down. Such an amazingly helpful and convenient must-have tool when traveling. I appreciate that MetrO is free, but I'd easily pay money for it if it weren't.

Super helpful

First time writing a review (to my knowledge) because MetrO is so helpful. I wouldnโ€™t have survived living in Japan without MetrO. It helps me get wherever I want and change trains without getting lost

Never lets me down

With this app Iโ€™ve been able to navigate subway systems around the world. Works like a charm offline, and is always correct. It makes getting around on an unknown subway system easy as pie. Love MetrO!

BEST APP EVER

this is hands down the best app I have ever used. I am currently traveling abroad and MetrO has been an absolute god-send. You don't need wifi to use it, you just need to know your point A and point B. Let me repeat: YOU DONT EVEN NEED SERVICE TO USE MetrO! This is amazingly helpful when traveling abroad without phone use, or when underground and without service. If you do have service, you can have it find your current location and it will direct you to the nearest station.

In large cities, like London or Paris, your "point A/B" could even be a monument/landmark, so you don't have to figure out which stop is the closest.

It tells you which train to take and which direction and where to change to a different line. It will give you different routes, which one is the fastest, or which has less changes, and you can tap on the specific train to see how many stops it is.

It takes a few minutes to figure out how it works and what all the symbols mean, but once you do, it's so so so amazing. I seriously cannot endorse MetrO enough.
