Best of the Best!

If you’re like me, you’ve seen the various travel management apps and, frankly, they all had positives and negatives. For some time, I had three on my phone, finally narrowing down to two. Then, I had a ridiculous travel day. My starting leg was delayed over two hours, putting my connection out of the question. When I landed, I checked this app out of habit and, lo and behold, the system had kept track of my connection and sent updated times for departure. It was delayed and, long story short, I made it because I knew it was still there and what gate to go to. No other app updated, in fact, even the airline app did not track as well as this app. Finally, after landing and getting my car, I clicked on the hotel, navigate with Waze and away I went. 100%, this is the best, most complete and easiest app to use. Look no further, this is it.

Been using it for years

this app makes it very easy to forward reservation emails to the this app email address, it recognizes it’s from you by your email (i.e. no need to log in each time) and teases out the details without my interaction. Over time it’s done it faster and more accurately and from more travel providers. Combining multiple reservations into a single trip takes seconds. And sometimes the travel delay alerts come faster through this app than from the airlines themselves, but not always.

My main enhancement requests would be to include fares and hotel/car quoted prices, so I can quickly confirm that I’m being charged right when I check in, or negotiate or rebook on the spot. In those cases I have to dredge up the original reservation. Also, please work on teasing out more details out of AirBnB reservations. I know this is a free app by Sabre, and AirBnB is competition, but still, the quality of TripCase is what I’m writing about here.

Can get it dangerously wrong

As many others I have tried several trip apps. I used a recent complex trip to compare this app, TripIt and Kayak. The trip had 6 flights, 4 accommodations, a car hire and airport parking. Importing the emails was least effective with this app. It failed to import any of the accommodation and also failed to import the airport parking (Kayak imported them all). More critically I found this app does not sanity check the data so when American shuffled flight numbers, this app had me flying LA to San Jose at the same time as I was on a flight from Helsinki to San Francisco. This fixed itself once the update email arrived from American. Then this app had the terminal info wrong but correct gate number ( note the gate number does not exist at that the terminal it listed). On the few positives this app was generally better than the others at flight delays (though none got them all). Overall unimpressed as I had to manually enter much of the itinerary and not sanity checking flight data could have easily had me miss a flight

It stopped working since their one of their updates in 2019.

I’ve used TripCase for over 10 years. I travel weekly and relied on TripCase to track my trips and get updates.
Since the 2019 update it stopped loading the trips. At first it wouldn’t even load TripCase . Now it loads but won’t retrieve any of my trip data. It just spins the circle of infinite wait. I let the phone or iPad (both have the same issue) sit there overnight and it’s still spinning the next morning - no data retrieved. Hard to track trips when you can’t see the trip info.
I’ve waited patiently for them to fix TripCase but it’s now been several months and I can’t wait any longer. I’ve been using airline and hotel apps to get my information while waiting for TripCase to regain functionality, but waiting several months is ridiculous. They should have rolled back to the last functioning version while they fixed it instead of leaving all users with a non-functioning app for months.
Time to consider other app options!

Used to be much better

I’ve used this app for years and have found it very help until recently. For a current trip I entered a new flight, and it came up with the wrong departure time. I verified the correct flight time and tried to manually edit the entry, but there is no way to do that. There is no answer to this problem in their FAQ, and they offer no support contact at all. I left three message with them via Twitter but have heard nothing. If I can’t depend on this app for important details like flight departure times, then there’s no reason for me to continue using it.

A Time Waster

Overall and in the most simplistic of scenarios, TripCase used to work fairly well. (2017). It's biggest shortcomings have been and remain its inability to upload docs vitally important to trips, such as PDF, MS Word, and image files contained in the body of emails or in file attachments.

Many itineraries I receive via email do not contain details in the body of the email, but rather, in a file attachment or in a graphic image. TripCase fails here.

More recently (Feb 5, 2022), this app has become unable to parse information in SW Airlines itineraries and has begun placing them in my inbox, rendering TripCase completely useless for me. These itineraries represent 60% of my flights and are found in 90% of my trips.

TripCase had good potential, but I don't think they (Sabre) are staffing engineers to support it anymore as small past problems have turned into nothing but more frequent and bigger problems.

Enter the inbox. If an itinerary is placed in the inbox, it's usually useless, because TripCase basically only captures a screenshot of PART of the itinerary, invariably, missing relevant info. In the years since its heyday, OCR and machine learning have improved dramatically, but this app can't read a SWAirlines itinerary?

Stick a fork in TripCase. It's done! Too bad, even with its past bugs, it still had good utility. Not so much anymore. Useless to me. A very frequent traveler.

Not sure what’s going on

I’ve been using this app for about 3-1/2 years now and have been extremely happy with it. However, just recently it keeps deleting a trip I’ve entered probably a dozen times. The trip shows up for an hour or so when I keep going back to check on it, but it eventually disappears. This has been since the most recent couple of updates. My App Store says it just updated again yesterday. I don’t know why it did that because I’m pretty sure I didn’t select automatic updates. None of my other apps are on automatic. It’s discouraging when apps are excellent and then the update lessens its appeal. It happens far too often with my favorite apps. If the problem of my disappearing trip is not resolved soon this will not be in my “favorites” category. Thus, the 4 stars.

Great app!

I like TripCase so much I decided to update my review from 5yrs ago. I've been using it at least that long, and I really depend on it to keep track of my crazy travel schedule.
I love that all I have to do is forward my confirmation email, and all the details are imported into TripCase . Much easier than when I used to "import" using my confirmation number.
I have now installed a 2nd copy on my wife's phone so she can keep up with my travel as well.
I also love that I can forward separate emails for hotel & flight reservations, and then merge them into a single trip within TripCase .
My only complaint is that rental car info doesn't import correctly from the email. Hopefully that will get fixed.

Excellent App!

I travel nearly every week for work and this has been an invaluable app. I can easily share my itineraries with family members and many of my flights are auto populated into TripCase . I find that I am notified about flight delays and cancellations via TripCase before the airlines notify me! The ability to combine different entries into a single trip is quite convenient. Sometimes TripCase does glitch and hangs for a bit but this tends to resolve itself fairly quickly. For some emailed entries that aren’t readable, I do wish entering data was a bit easier. These are relatively minor issues as TripCase is quite fabulous for the frequent traveler. I have recommended it to many others!!

Almost perfect

I love TripCase. It is my go to app to organize my trips. It puts everything I need in one spot and adds my trips to my calendars. It is super easy to add trips. When the option to send in my itinerary and automatically fill in my details doesn’t work - and sometime it doesn’t - they’ve made it is super easy to add the trips.

My only suggestion would be to allow users to access our trips offline. I often find myself in difficult locations like China where I can’t get online to check my trip details. I can’t access the Facebook login or even the internet at times and this means I can’t read my trip details. Please make this data accessible offline. I don’t mind storing my data on my phone.

Super convenient and automatic trip management

I have been using this app for about four years now and I love it so much that I think it deserves time for a review so that more people can discover it.

Super easy to use, just forward flight hotel or other reservation email to this app and it automatically grab all critical information and create the trip. Afterwards all info about the trip will be at a single page under your fingertip and you do not need to search through all your emails try to figure out the hotel name and address.

Interface is clean and easy to follow

Was the greatest app ever

TripCase used to be he greatest app ever - an indispensable tool to keep my trips at my fingertips and complicated details just a click away.

Then something changed. The key feature: “link a booking” simply stopped working. SATO PNRs (record locators) stopped working, and even adding flights and rental cars manually only worked about 20% of the time. Their help selection said that American Airlines wouldn’t give them access to their flight records, but no other airlines showed up, rental cars didn’t work, and entering (even *when* it worked) information manually is no time saver.

For anyone reading this review, people like me who travel 20 days a month on a myriad of airlines and rental car companies, hotels etc would not only pay for a premium app like this but would also pay a subscription fee. I recognize this must be a tough thing to do, but if you build it AND service it we will pay.

I needed TripCase and it’s failed me. Please either reconsider your business model and fix your app, charge us more, or sell your idea to someone who will. You’d make money and you’d save myself and my Aide a whole lot of pain and inconvenience.

Awesome! Great travel app

I use this app for all my travel plans. It is accurate and updates quicker than the gate boards at airports sometimes. Just send them the confirmation email and it's uploaded to your account in seconds. TripCase was especially helpful during my 14 day trip across Europe. Five countries, 11 flights, no issues. The little tips and local etiquette are helpful and resourceful. I also enjoy being able to see if the seat next to me is taken prior to boarding (because honestly no one wants to sit next to a stranger).

Better than TripIt

I was trying to find an app to manage and keep track of my trips. I have been using this app for a number of years and have liked it very much! But I thought I would explore if there are newer apps out there. For curiosity’s sake. I read on a few posts that TripIt is awesome and gets a high rating. But when I tried it, it wasn’t even close to the convenience of this app. Examples are: I can’t change my departure airport when I add a new trip; I can’t find place to add airlines, etc. So I remain a loyal and happy user of this app.

Not sure what is happening now

I’ve been using this app for years now for 5 years and have been very happy. But now I’m having problems. Today I tried to check in for a flight but it turns out that this app recorded the wrong locator #, so it took me 40 minutes to sort that out so I could check in (late, now). But then no matter how I tried, I was unable to correct the locator # so that I can check in on my return flight. I don’t know why the editing function is suddenly off for this trip but with bugs like this I’ll definitely be looking for another app, since I do travel regularly and this problem caused me to wonder if I had forgotten to book the flight after all.

This app does not seem to work in South America

Have used TripCase a great deal. Use to love it.

Currently on trip in South America. Several problems encountered.

1. Was allowing new flight details to be added then all of a sudden it refuses to accept any new flights.

2. App seems to have forgotten who United Airlines is! Trying to enter new flight details it comes back with airline not found .

3. App refuses to enter any rail tickets. Says Peru Rail does not exist.

4. Apps say I finished my trip would not allow me to enter more travel detail to get back home to California. Had to create a second trip and now that trip leg refuses to accept new travel details.

5. Email notices had to delete all the people then re-enter them again so ppl would receive trip details. That has also stopped working.

Use to really enjoy TripCase. Today it’s going south of 1-Star rating.

Developer please fix your problems by listening to real travelers feedback and not just ppl hacking away in some safe comfy office with a super fast WiFi connection !!

Great but a couple of changes would be nice

I use this everyday to track my bosses flights. It’s the best. What would be nice is if when you clicked on Checkin to your flight, it auto populated the fields. It never works with AA flights at all. I have to keep going back and forth from the checkin screen to TripCase because I am trying to remember the confirmation number. What’s the point of having this option if I have to input the information my self? Also, it would be great if you could attach a document in the notes section. Thank you!

Used to be great

I liked this app when it worked, but it has become very unreliable. It did a great job tracking my itinerary and informing me if flight changes. But there are challenges and it hasn’t been working well for some time. TripCase freezes constantly. For example, if I try to share an itinerary or all of my activity, TripCase freezes and I must close and restart TripCase before it becomes responsive. I must go to the website to make the share work. This is incredibly frustrating as I want to share TripCase with various and changing co-workers travel with. This is TripCase my company and Carlson Wagonlit Travel use, so I’m stuck with it. I can’t trust this app, very disappointing.

Great, but something’s missing

Great app, but missing a vital component for couples who travel together- you can only follow your significant other’s trip, which makes it harder to get to, especially when running through an airport or trying to catch a taxi or bus. TripCase would be SO much better if you could save a shared trip with another person and that person could save the trip as their own. This is especially true for trip details that don’t have itineraries that can be forwarded to Trip Case, like show tickets or excursions!

Use every time you travel to be safe

I travel at least 5 times per year and stay in hotels every time. I use trip case to keep me on time, keep my travel and hotel info all in one spot and it provides a stable and easy traveling experience because of its ease of use and all of its cool features like notifications about when to check in and flight changes. It's essential to my family and I when traveling. I recommend it!

I have used Trip Case for many years but now I am unable to add more than one item to a trip. I get a notice that you are aware of the problem but this has been going on for weeks with no indication that this problem will be fixed any time soon. The app is useless to me in its current state.

William   1 year ago

TripCase consistently does not update departure / arrival times, either automatically or when entered manually. Attempts to delete and re-enter flights resulted with the same incorrect times. Attempts to contact support are more than frustrating. The frequency of airline schedule changes makes this app almost useless. It is amazing a company like Sabre that has been around for decades would offer such poor support.

You application no longer works well at all. I have sent and resent a flight to the app and it will not enter it correctly into my trips nor will you app allow me to edit it so it is correct. Too bad, it used to be pretty good. No I have to look for an alternative

Hi I am not sure what Department to send this email so I am sending it to you guys in the hopes you will pass this message on to the appropriate people. I have been using TripCase since 2012 and love it. I think it’s a great product. The reason I am writing is because I used trip case you guys have saved me over $1,000.00!! I had booked 5 different hotels for a July trip to Prince George, BC and back again. I booked hotels that had a cancellation policy. Turns out that was a good idea because of Covid-19 we could not go on our trip. The thing is, I forgot to cancel my hotel bookings. The day before we were to leave on the cancelled holiday I received a notice from TripCase advising that our trip would soon start. You can imagine the horror I felt when I realized that I had not cancelled the hotels. I immediately got on line and the phone and cancelled all the hotels – what a relief!!! I just wanted to say kudos to TripCase, and Thank you very much!! A grateful, loyal client!! Lorraine M. Nissen Virus-free. www.avast.com
