My husband, 2 others and I were traveling on a 15 hour flight back home from New Zealand. We kept seeing advertisements all around for sky couches. This looked like a good option. But we could not find anywhere online for option to upgrade or what the price difference even was. We asked at checkin if both couples could be upgraded to sky couches and how much the upgrade would be. As the lady at the desk asked her coworker I heard her coworker say, “just tell them no.” The lady finally came back and said that we could have one sky couch. We had to go to ticket sales to get new boarding passes and pay for the one. I asked again at the sales desk if we could possibly get two. Again I was told no. When we were seated on the plane we were seated in a row of seats that had the sky couch bench. But another person was seated in the row with us. But the plane was not full. After we took off. The man sitting in our row moved and we had to row to ourselves but were not allowed to use the sky couch. Why are you advertiser so much if you are not willing to sell them??

For some inexplicable reasons, this app forces transcontinental travellers to purchase separate tickets which include AKL as the only transit point, while explicitly disallowing those who purchase such tickets from boarding in North American departure points such as LAX. If this is it, the travellers would have no complaints... However, ther are further confusing and otherwise contradicting communications being circulated via internet “word of mouth”, purportedly from some sub-branch of this app reservations department. The bottomline is this app has done a woeful job in communicating a clear and consistent message to travellers via a uniform customer-facing channel. The refusal to let passengers who have been forced by this app to buu two separate tickets for the same itinerary is particularly baffling, especially given NZ government’s granting of transit visa regardless of the number of tickets present for the transit flight via AKL.

I have found AirNZ to be very nicely designed and useful. Many apps are just modified versions of the website, but this one actually enables me to navigate more quickly to do what I need to do, and provides timely updates on flight delays and other travel details. Some functions do send you back to their website but for routine stuff, you can get it done or get updates within AirNZ .

I think most of the reviewers here have some beef with Air New Zealand or their policies and negatively review AirNZ . Personally, I find it to be a very well executed and stable app. It’s easy to quickly find flight information. My biggest criticism is that bookings bounce you to ANZ’s mobile website instead of actually being processed by AirNZ . An iPad app would be nice to have, but airline iPad apps tend not to be very useful anyway.

While my flight was not bad and I would typically have given a 5 star review I was very disappointed to learned that my husband and I had each been charged almost $500 American dollars each for changing our flight. We were in New Zealand on a dream vacation when our travel agent notified us that Air New Zealand was canceling many flights due to corona virus and he recommended we return home right away. We agreed to return and he changed our flights accordingly. Shame on you Air New Zealand- there should not have been such a hefty charge based on the ongoing worldwide crisis!

Very disappointed that the Auckland lounge in the international terminal is closed tonight. I understand when overseas lounges are closed. But the website is misleading and I could have called into the domestic lounge to grab a bite, a shower and used the wifi before walking over from my flight originating in CHC.

Please do a better job communicating. It makes these long haul journeys much easier.

It’s really quite sad that basic functionality has not been implemented for iPads. It seems strange that no one thought how inconvenient it is to have to use AirNZ only in portrait mode, and then to have to double the size to use the whole iPad screen.

Is it my imagination but I’ve been trying for 2 days to book a multi-city, international flight to/from the USA using both the Air NZ website and app. Either way, it is extremely difficult to navigate. I’m going to instead book the flight on United (with codeshare to Air NZ) as I know for sure that multi-stop bookings are allowed. I now remember trying to do this last year as well and was equally disappointed that it was impossible to do...

Great app, use it all the time as I fly frequently with Air NZ. Very convenient. However, I have a fair few old flights that I can’t delete and it’s kind of frustrating having to go through them. If they fix this problem, will be a 5 star app 😊

Extremely frustrating experience working with air New Zealand and AirNZ I’ve gotten used to using airlines apps but was extremely disappointed with air New Zealand’s app. Tried to add an extra prepaid bag but impossible to work with. Had to call in and was charged a massive service fee to do something that should be able to be done online. Clunky app and really unhelpful. Using AirNZ makes me not want to ever fly air New Zealand again

This was a fantastic app, always use it when I travel home to NZ. However recently AirNZ has had a pop up every time I open it telling me AirNZ has crashed and needs to be restarted but I’ve closed it, logged out, removed and re-downloaded and it still says the same thing. How am I supposed to use AirNZ when travelling if it won’t even work?!

App was previously working OK, at least to display my flight information. For some reason it is completely broken now, even after I went through the tedious process of signing it into something called “airports”. Also tried repeatedly to enter my booking manually, using “booking reference #”. Got repeated error messages. Hey, team, what happened to AirNZ?

To check into your flight AirNZ redirects you to your web browser. The Air New Zealand website takes over to check you in. That’s when the trouble begins. Information that is entered soon gets erased and you have to start over. After 20 minutes I gave up.

I really like all the features of AirNZ . I am to able to look at flights and book with ease .i like the airline as it cultural sensitive.

AirNZ was amazing as is New Zealand Air in a whole! I used AirNZ for our trip over to Australia and it was a huge help with keeping up with our flights! Highly recommend AirNZ!

Great app. Wish i could add my air point card into the Apple wallet like every other airline app allows.

I needed to make a change in my flight. The first flight that I took was from Papeete. As a result, the sight assumed that I was a French speaker and I was redirected to a French language website. No matter how much I tried, I could not change the language to English. This rendered the website useless for me because I cannot read or write French.

Need to be redirected to website just to change seat, this is such a basic feature that most other airline apps have. What’s the point of an app if u need to be redirected to the website for everything anyway.

Easy to use and view info. No problems with scanning info when checking in.
Might be useful to have the international Koru and code-share lounge maps available. Everything in one place is more convenient then.

Everything you actually need to do or across is hidden, difficult and nothing is listed- history - or manageable. Total corporate site designed for Air New Zealand’s objectives- not yours.

I want AirNZ because I need the information it provides. But it is hard to read. In portrait mode, the opening screen display is too big to fit on my iPad display, so I can’t see everything that is there. And I can’t get the screen to display in landscape mode at all, so either way, it is hard to see and read the information. I will only use AirNZ when absolutely necessary.

Once it said the wrong gate and we had to walk all the way to the other side of the airport! Another time it wouldnt tell us the gate. Info is inaccurate and sometimes they dont update it. Pretty useless for a so called “award winning” airline!

Seriously? I guess I’d prefer a seat and a plane. Has to cost you more to sort this and really gives you a terrible image. At any rate I’ll never travel with Air New Zealand again, ever!
