I have been using Ustream as a viewer (not a broadcaster) for 4 years now and it used to be a good app. For the past 12 - 18 months, though, it has been getting steadily worse. It crashes regularly, the content replay comes through very jumpy and the programs break up or lose sound regularly. You have to back out of what you're watching and go back in multiple times per view because of the error "something went wrong, please try again". This has been going on for a LONG time. If the devs would actually try to figure out what that "something" is and fix it, it would go a long way toward increasing my rating. Now, it seems that they have "sunsetted" the follow feature so now you can't follow your favorite channels. Instead, you have to find them in the search bar every time you log in - NOT cool! If the "updates" start actually improving anything, I'll come back and edit my rating and review. That works both ways too ... if it continues to deteriorate, I'll let ya know.

I have been using this app for about 10 years now! I’m not a business or any type of organization so I have no reason to pay for a membership! I’m a nature lover! I love watching “some” of the pet cams & animal rescue cams. I had a nice but small collection of cams I had been following for about 10 years. One morning I get up & look at my favorites on my “Following” list & it’s gone! When I try to get my favs back a pop-up appears that states, “Feature is Sunsetted”. After doing some research I found this means...my favs have been gotten rid of & I can’t have them back, unless I “Pay” for their service! This happened right after the last up-date! I e-mailed UStreams Help line & was informed they won’t help me or give me any kind of information on why they all of a sudden canceled my Following page because I’m “not a paying member!” They were not the least bit nice & I was left to feel like a low life! They talked down to me as if I was! Wish I could give them 0 stars just for the rudeness & their total lack of concern.

Ustream is terrible. I tried to watch a video today & the same commercial kept coming on interfering with the live video every 2-3 minutes. There were multiple episodes of a black screen, frozen screen & posted on screen errors. I had to either go out & come back in, or reload the video so many times I lost count. I never got to hear or see very much of the live video I was trying to watch. If your a person who doesn’t mind being constantly frustrated at all the interfering commercials & problems with video playback then this app is for you. However, I would not recommend this streaming app for all the sane people out there, who just want to watch a video in peace.

this app is mighty disappointing. You have to really want to see who what you are watching to use them. I can not believe they have commercials. The content you are trying to watch might not play, it may play and stop, Ustream may crash, a spectrum of things can happen, but that commercial will play perfectly. I can’t believe they are affiliated with a company like IBM and can’t get this tech right.
Update: Same stuff after months. The products they advertise are ones I avoid. There is seemingly no way that they will listen to. I’ll give it a couple more months the draft a letter to their sponsors. It’s just so awful and annoying. Unreliable service.

this app has finally done it, they have "sun-setted" the ability to follow your favorite channels. Opened Ustream last week and my entire list of channels was wiped clean. If you try to follow any channel it tells you the feature is "sun-setted". This is now primarily a commercial app and the original purpose for the regular folks has been wiped out by the new owner IBM and their "IBM Cloud". You can still watch but you'll have to remember the channels, no following allowed.

I'm i huge fan of Ustream and I use it almost constantly. What's good about it is that I used to watch some shows on my Apple TV through my iPhone to have a better viewing experience with a bigger screen. Before the update I used to watch on my Apple TV with only one problem which was that it quits viewing on TV every 8 or 10 min and I have to open my iPhone and choose the view on Apple TV again. After a few times I have to actually quit Ustream and reopen it to be able to view the channel without it stops viewing due to iPhone's screen becomes black.

That's exactly the problem with the latest update. This time it happens every time my iPhone's screen turns black or goes to sleep. I have to keep the iPhone open and never let it lock at all in order to keep the content viewed through out the whole time. A fix is needed coz for me watching shows that take more than 6 hours on my iPhone isn't ideal.

Sunsetting:

Products and services are often sunsetted when they are no longer sufficiently profitable or when a company decides to change its focus. Software vendors usually sunset older versions of their products when one or more newer version is available. In that context, sunsetting usually means that the product is no longer supported.

Sunsetting, in a business context, is intentionally phasing something out or terminating it.

I created an account and password, but the login continues to not work. I’ve changed the password three times with no success. Ustream offers no option to create an account; that must be done on the web site. Thought Ustream would be easier to use than through Facebook.

Since IBM came on board, Ustream is awful. Used to be excellent to view. All channels I once followed were “removed” somehow from my “following list” and now when I try to follow those same channels a statement comes up stating “ this feature is sunsetted,” which I have never gotten an acceptable answer to when I sent emails to support.

I love watching birds and animals. this app makes that easy to do They also have many categories to watch

this app is garbage and always has been, but they’ve consistently proved that when you think “wow this is bad, they can’t possibly make it worse”, they’ll manage to make things worse. Bravo this app, even IBM can’t fix you.

Too bad the new owners of this app let Ustream basically die. Like others have said, Ustream is no longer functional, feeds have disappeared, and favorites can no longer be found. Don’t bother downloading. I don’t expect to see Ustream in Ustream Store much longer.

For all intents and purposes it seems like this app had removed the option to follow certain streams. Thanks to this I have completely lost track of certain small content creators due to this asinine decision. So long notifications for these streams.

I thought I could save training videos for staff to access
At their convenience but the videos stay for a short time and then they disappear. I would like my videos back though.

I have used it 5-6 times in last 3 years. It is very easy to operate. I like it.
