Awesome

So easy to use, and very useful as it has all the diagrams and tax fare comparison.

Used to be good, now gives me bad directions

With the most recent update that added an English interface to JapanTransitPlanner , the entire timetable seems off. I’ve been taking various routes for years now and JapanTransitPlanner used to show me those, now it’s saying that those same routes take 20 more minutes. It does not seem to stay up to date with delays as well either and doesn’t offer as much information as before when it was entirely in Japanese. Needs a fix badly.

New Update Problem

Hello. I appreciate you adding English to use in JapanTransitPlanner , but I’d like to change it back to Japanese. However, when I open Settings there are no language settings for me to change. Could you fix that as soon as possible please?

Ads!!!

So I got JapanTransitPlanner a few years ago and for a long time I didn’t update. But in order to use a new feature I saw on the website I updated. Much to my dismay, JapanTransitPlanner is now full ads!!! Not one, but two ads display on one screen, and now in order to access certain features, you’re expected to subscribe or download another app called “Plus”. There’s no guarantee that’s one is ad-free, so I’m not gonna drop $6.99 for it. Unbelievable!!!

Pretty good

Added English support which is actually very nice, but took away the most useful feature (一本前、一本後). Changed it back to Japanese and the feature is there, so I’ll continue to use in Japanese.

ありがとう

This was the first application I looked for when I bought the iPhone. Couldn't find anything like it forever, so I was using a crappy old web-app. But this works great!

I agree that I would love any kind of offline service too. ^_^
I often search the same place (sometimes 5 minutes later when I forget), so being able to save some offline would be really useful.

Great Travel App

I've been using JapanTransitPlanner since February or so and its always had great, accurate, easily accessible features. Stations can be looked up by English alphabet, Japanese characters or Chinese characters, as long as you know what you are looking for it is really good.
The only cons are it requires some Japanese language proficiency. It would be nice if there was a native English version, but it works great for me.

"Japan Transit" = English version

FYI "Japan Transit" is a similar app by Jorudan that is in English. It offers multiple ways to go somewhere and saves the last 20 searches. All for a couple bucks. Not a Subscription. I keep it on my home page. Very reliable. Advice from a long-time happy user.

Very useful in Japan (if you can read Japanese)

Just got back from Japan and used this all the time. Combined with a SUICA card, JapanTransitPlanner greatly simplifies getting around in Japan via train. It's a lot easier than having to look stations up on the spaghetti noodle maps! Though you can type in the train station name in romaji, you need to be able to read Japanese to some extent to understand the results.

Must have this when you travel to Japan

Japanese railroad system is widely spreaded and difficult to understand which line / station we should use. This is the application which help us. Really recommend.

A must get for travelers to Japan

JapanTransitPlanner is the most essential tool for me when I visit Japan. An english version is now available based on the plus version for about $14. Just search for norikae annai or jorudan

By

not bad

Best option I found for a dedicated train-finder in Japan.
Not bad, but only slightly better than the jorudan web site itself.
Needs localization in English. The jorudan site has English, this should also.
A bit slow.... but so is the jorudan site.

English version please!

Please release an English version. You've done it on the web, now please bring it to us on the iPhone. Thank you.
英語バージョンもお願いします。

One of the most convenient travel apps!

Can't travel without it when you are in Japan.

I love it

I just wish it had the default memory of the schedules so it'll be useful offline as well just in case if you couldn't find internet or signal.
平常時刻表が搭載されたらもっと良いなぁ∽と思います。もし、インターネットや電波が届かなかったりした時に

But still no English version? I've been using JapanTransitPlanner on the iPhone for two years, and they still haven't cobbled together a working English version?Come on! I'm willing to pay for an ad-free English supported app, so get with it please!

A must have!

We used JapanTransitPlanner to plan Shinkansen trips between cities. We used it to take the subway, train and bus in Tokyo, Kyoto, and Sapporo. It was invaluable. I felt 100% confident in planning my day and had the freedom to change plans.

Decrease in performance

JapanTransitPlanner has significantly slowed down in performance since the last update. It more often than not times out before actually showing routes. Very disappointed as it was the best app in my opinion before the update.
