Dwarflabs Dwarf 3 is defective. IOS 18 will not work. Dwarflabs says turn off cellular. Ignored return request.

Went to upgrade and DWARFLAB won’t connect to telescope however it looks like I can view images on the as card? So not sure what’s going on? I’d stay way from this update till this is figured out.

What good is an app guided smart telescope if DWARFLAB can’t even connect to the telescope?!?!

The documentation for this unit is spotty, disorganized, and incomplete and close to useless.

I suspect there is a fundamentally good tool here but lacking organized and complete documentation the user is pretty much reduced to trial and error.

DWARFLAB works 20% of the time, if it works at all. Let alone the quality of pictures are not as good as it is advertised. I wish I spent my money on a better hardware with a real working application.

Before the update my Dwarf 2 worked well. After the update the Dwarf 2 would drop connection after 30 seconds, and refuse to reconnect. I tried all the troubleshooting steps to no avail.

I ordered the Dwarf 3 from this app website as a birthday gift for a friend. AFTER I paid for it I was told (only when I inquired), that shipping will be in 16-18 weeks!

There was no indication during the ordering process about this delay in shipping.

When I contacted them to cancel and refund, I was told there will be a 6% fee for cancellation.

Again there was no mention about the 6% fee if order is cancelled.

This is not good customer service!

So buyer beware…there is no indication about shipping time before you finalize the order. And keep in mind about the 6% fee in case you cancel the order.

The scope itself looks like it’s a great astronomical scope for tracking and taking hundreds of stacked images of galaxies and nebulae in less than ideal light conditions. However, it the DWARF II will not connect to the IOS this app App making the scope useless. Any suggested workarounds would be appreciated.

I got the telescope expecting nice things, but I won’t hold DWARFLAB accountable for my buyer’s remorse. But DWARFLAB itself was one of the main selling points and DWARFLAB, by itself, is cancer on my phone. I have to reboot the program after every session if the camera loses the connection. It’s frozen, no features are tappable. It’s also not uncommon for an entire reboot of iOS after a session. That’d be cool if DWARFLAB was anything more than a glorified 720p selfie stick. It lacks an intuitive viewing mode. Focus never works, it seems unresponsive with no feedback. It may be skill or more reading up, but my iPhone takes better, more detailed pictures. Looking with the naked eye shouldn’t give the most detail while viewing. I don’t know how tied DWARFLAB team is to their hardware, but it’s been my worst regrettable purchase and worst regrettable app that I’ve downloaded in several years.

That word “clunky” describes it best.
It works, but then it doesn’t.
It was definitely designed by engineers. Overly long and complex ways of doing things. They need to hire a person who natively speaks English. Let that person write the instructions in DWARFLAB and online.
DWARFLAB is very cluttered and it’s easy to accidentally go from astrophotography to daytime photography and not even realize that you have hit the button.
Seriously considering sending the unit back waiting a year then try again.

iOS app is far behind the android app. Hopefully there is a major update soon.This really limits the user experience with the telescope.

They keep trying…..none of their products or apps really work like they are supposed to. Can’t do upgrades unless you have a computer science degree. They are more tinkering toys….stuff you play around with trying to get them to work. If you don’t want to work hard setting the software up, you can still play with the hardware.

Needs work. Very clunky. But the team are very responsive to suggestions and issues. They will get this sorted just not yet for IOS anyway. The hardware is VERY well done.

DWARFLAB is mediocre in every way, but usable. The camera is pretty neat, so one can put up with DWARFLAB . I hope it gets improved, it wouldn't be hard.

A good start but software is unhelpful and weird to connect. Software needs to be as good as the hardware.

Please change all the sliders into drop down. Fat fingers don’t work very well. Thanks.

Culture breaking camera/telescope for deep space imaging. Not a large kit but just the right size for travel. DWARFLAB which is used by the. Dwarf II is a “work in progress “ and has new updates almost weekly.

They have made so much progress in DWARFLAB. It is stable and has added so many key features in under a year. The new star atlas is a huge upgrade in ease of picking your target. The D2 is so much fun, lightweight and easy to use, especially for travel. Can’t wait for the D3!

The DWARF scope is amazing and I appreciate all that’s possible in DWARFLAB . Calibration, goto, and stacking of deep sky objects is 10x easier than traditional setups. Use the quick list or manually enter targets from sky safari or stellarium. The curve editor for live stacking works great. Daytime videos and pics are a nice bonus especially with object tracking. The developers keep adding features the community wants like station mode for control over home WiFi. Keep up the good work!

After I got the Dwarf3, I spent some time getting acquainted with the user guide, but just enough to dive in and take a stacked image of the Sun and another of the Moon. From setup to finish, it took less than 30 minutes each. With my old system, I. Would spend hours trying take images and then get frustrated with post processing using a $300 software package. This smart telescope gives me what I longed for - instant gratification. I’m looking forward to the updates for merging panorama and mosaic images. Definitely need mosaic feature in Astro mode.
