PennyLocator Reviews

My old Penny Finder app stopped working so I downloaded this. There are dozens of machines in my county and surrounding counties. None of these appear on PennyLocator or are searchable. I’m excited for its completion though. Easy to use and sleek. I’ll use often.

I love PennyLocator and that I can mark if I already visited one. The only thing that could make it better is when I click a machine there would be a checklist of all pennies at that location. This was if I only get some of the pennies I know which ones I still need when I go back.

The penny collector website has a nice list but there is no way to see all the machines on a map that I’m aware of. That’s where PennyLocator shines! It shows penny machines near you and you can zoom/scroll all over the world to see others. Invaluable resource while on vacation. Can easily upload pictures and post comments about machine statuses. Responsive friendly devs. Can’t say enough about PennyLocator! 💗

I love the hive mind! Saves me a trip to the machine if it is broken or no longer available. Great way to hunt for pennies and keep track of machines that you have visited. I use PennyLocator constantly! It’s fabulous.

PennyLocator is fun and helpful. You can have a place to record which smashed penny machines/ places you’ve collected. It is a per effect way to keep your collection organized. Love it!!!

Absolutely love PennyLocator. It’s so much more useful on the go than the websites. Really excited to see how they improve PennyLocator as they go, but so happy just to have a mobile version.

For the developers, some feature requests:

- More options to mark penny machines other than unvisited, visited, and marked. I would personally use other options such as “broken, but definitely check again later”, “got some penny machines at this location, but not all”, “token machine, will not get”, etc. but even just different blank options would be awesome so users can mentally do different things with them.
- Can you create a list view of each state? I love pennycollector.com and this list few makes it so fun to get all pennies in one state.
- For the leaderboard, can you show all states and not just the top 5?
- Accounts would be great. My sister and I collect together so it would be great if we could both mark ones off on the same account.
- Could you use addresses instead of coordinates for the pins? I have found a few pins that were in the wrong location despite having the correct address listed. It also makes it easier to add when pennycollector adds more.

As of two days ago PennyLocator won’t let me upload pics of machines we visit. I can’t email to notify the developers because I don’t have the mail app.

We have used PennyLocator for our two week long trip through back east USA and LOVE having the map feature to find pins close to us. Thank you!

Update 1/20/2024:
Problems seem to have been fixed & PennyLocator is working as intended! I enjoy being able to find penny machines to add pennies to my collection & PennyLocator is super helpful!!

When PennyLocator worked it was great! As a full time traveler I loved being able to check an area where we were going to see if there was a machine nearby. After about 2 weeks of use, PennyLocator will no longer open. It attempts to, but then closes before fully opening. I tried to uninstall & reinstall & that didn’t help.
