Was a good app, now I wish for an additional setting

This is a really good app that I use to track everything that I watch, play, read, and listen to. I chose it specifically despite the other competitor apps because it did not have a “watch date” on my shows, as I sometimes forget and have to add it later. I had gone through probably a few dozen apps before I was able to settle on sequel. Simple, attractive ui, really great app. Until it updated. And now it has obligatory, non editable watch dates. Now, this is only minorly annoying, but it’s enough that I’m tempted to find a new tracking app, or to even create my own. All I ask, dear developer, is that you give us a setting (in free mode, please) to completely turn off the watch date interface. I don’t want to know *when* I watched these movies, because my memory isn’t that great, so most of the dates are wrong. It gives me so much unnecessary stress and anxiety, when it was the main feature that I had downloaded SequelMediaTracker for. I suppose it’s the truth of “one man’s trash” and all that, but the simple lack of watch dates was my treasure. I hope you take this to heart, and I hope to see a new setting soon. One day, when I can afford it, if SequelMediaTracker is still everything it was when I first found it, I will be buying the paid version. I just want to see some changes first. One change. Let me turn off watch dates.

Only two things missing…

SequelMediaTracker is fantastic. I can add things really easily and seeing art with the movies and books is wonderful and better than what I was previously doing, which was using a todo list. I really wish we can see when we completed an item - you can sort by completion date but can’t see it? That’s a huge miss and makes it much harder to figure out how many books I’ve read this year or when I saw a movie with a friend. Please add this and perhaps add a timeline/diary view with all the content included! Also, I wish you can add some notes when adding something to the backlog or wishlist. I want to be able to note why it’s added or who recommended.

Strong product but lots of QOL features are needed

I am liking this product. Its database is extensive and it finds just about everything I’m looking for. There are occasional weird gaps, which I’m thinking are more due to the data services being used vs programmatic issues. I’m using this to track shows I’ve watched and books in my physical library so my use case may be a bit different than most. But so far its’ anime db is very good so it might become my replacement for my anime list website.

There are a bunch of things I’d like to see implemented, especially if I’m going to pay for the service.
* more options for sorting
* ways to remove categories I don’t plan to use (audiobooks being one)
* for shows and movies, ways to add other statuses like you have with books
* for books, ways to indicate a book is both in your library and is read
* book format (electronic vs physical, hardback/softback/etc)
* non-media lists for weird cases like beer tracking (this could be completely manual if need be)
* autocollapse collections
* manual sequencing of collection items (especially true for like the marvel series, where release date is not necessarily the same as watch order)

But I’m slowly starting to move my stuff into SequelMediaTracker , so more likely than not I’ll end up buying the service. It’s only $20/year which is a very fair price in my opinion.

Great design, missing a killer basic feature

I really like the design and interface of SequelMediaTracker. But, unfortunately it’s missing a the most important feature that even my Notes app-based watchlist has: the ability to add a note to items in your Watchlist! This is SUPER important to me so I can remember who recommended something to me, or why I was interested in the first place. I was close to moving my whole watchlist into SequelMediaTracker because it seems great. But, unfortunately the lack of this feature is a major blocker to doing so. I’d be curious if this feature is in the works.

Clean and simple

This is a great tracker but some QOL improvements would do wonders. 3D Touch could bring up a menu to add automatically to a collection for example, instead of going through multiple taps to change a movie from the default Watchlist to Watched. It would also be nice to incorporate Rotten Tomatoes and IMDB scores for movies, Metacritic or Opencritic scores for games, and Goodreads reviews for books. Right now I do not feel that the subscription is worth it because with the amount of info that Sequel aggregates, it would be faster to Google. I love the design and snappiness of SequelMediaTracker , so currently I use it as a simple, at-a-glance list.

Sort Watch Next

I wish there was a way to sort what to watch next by episode release date. Sometimes I’ll add a series that I forgot about & may have watched some episodes but want to continue it at another time but it stays at the top because I just added the series to my list. If we could sort those, that’d be great. Overall, app is great for keeping track of upcoming releases & UI is simple & pleasing to the eye!

Pretty darn great

Updated review: book lookups started working correctly since my last review 🤷‍♂️

This is a fantastic app for tracking consumption of various types of media. If you have a lot to add the process can be a bit tedious.

My only real gripe is that there isn’t a way to quickly open SequelMediaTracker and check something off. You have to drill down into each type (movie, series, etc), then into menus to check things off. It’s just too many taps. SequelMediaTracker would really benefit from a consolidated “current” or “up next” view with everything across the different media types displayed at once and controls for checking things off right there.

The (Almost) Perfect App

I absolutely love everything SequelMediaTracker has to offer. It gets the job done in a sleek, simplistic, and Apple way. The only downside is the subscription is out of the question. $20 USD per year to have very few features that you can just go on Google and get the same information for free? I would get the subscription, but I do not want to be paying that money per year. If you added a $5 - $10 USD, with features that include where to watch, release reminders, and widgets, that would be perfect. Also, if you could make it where you can watch your shows by clicking a watch button, and it links you to the show, that would be a 10/10 feature. That is all I wanted to say. If you fix add any of these features, I would turn it into a 5 star.

Almost perfect media tracker

Wrote a review but it wasn’t finished and got accidentally submitted. So I’m rewriting it. Anyways, first off, I really love SequelMediaTracker. I’ve tried many other media tracker apps but this one is by the far, the best and easiest one to use. It keeps everything organized in a nice and simple way. However, what I would like to see, is better customization in the tv series category. It would be nice to be able to create my own categories and sort them how I want them to be, by recently added, title, etc. Also, would be helpful if the Watchlist category was renamed something else, as you already have it has the main title, don’t need it as a category too. Something more like Released or Premiering would be better. Overall, it’s an excellent app and can’t wait to see where it goes in the future.

Beautifully Simple

SequelMediaTracker is so clean and beautifully laid out. It is the perfect. Content tracker for me. It does a great job of providing beautiful hero images for content and the perfect amount of information to inform the user of if they want to view the content, save it for later, or archive. I love how it uses imagery to allow me to quickly identify content I’ve seen, and draw me to content I haven’t. It syncs across devices quickly, and operates smoothly. An amazing app for those of us that like to keep track of content we consume. Thanks Dev.

Perfect for tracking movies

I add movies and TV shows to my too watch list frequently and was using a google sheet to track them, if I’d watched them, and if I had any thoughts or wanted to remember why I added it in the first place. Google sheets mostly worked for this, but there were limitations, like managing a google sheet on my phone. Sequel solves this problem, and the interface is quick and intuitive.

Far and away my favorite feature is the integration with JustWatch so that I can really easily tell if a movie is on one of my streaming services.

A huge bonus is that I can track pretty much every form of media, I’m not limited to film like other apps. TV shows, books, games, etc are all things I can keep in one place to see what sounds good for an immediate watch.

Awesome App!

SequelMediaTracker is exactly what I was looking for - a clean, organized way to track different forms of media I’ve watched/played. I was always frustrated by the piecemeal different apps (Goodreads, Trakt, Letterboxd, etc.) and this brings it all into one place. The only things I would suggest to add are:

-The ability to leave notes on different pieces of media. The star rating system is great, but it’d be even better to have the ability to leave a short review/note on how I liked something.
-A “rewatched” function to keep track of how many times I enjoy the same piece of media
-Long shot, but I’m a sports fan. I wonder if there would be a way to track games/matches watched. This is probably beyond the pale for SequelMediaTracker, but thought I would suggest.

Thank you so much to SequelMediaTracker creator, this is exactly what I was looking for!

The media tracker I’ve been wanting for years

I have tried just about every media tracker on SequelMediaTracker Store at this point. Sequel finally has managed to cover all of the categories I care about in a beautiful, simple package. It does everything I could ask for and uses all of the services I would expect. Literally the only complaint I have is that the Books feature uses the Apple Books API, which isn’t as broad as what Goodreads can track. I hope to never have to try another media tracker app again.

Best of its kind

The combination of ease of use, visual flair, and utility is something I haven't seen elsewhere in the media tracking space. Being able to browse storefront and streaming platform metadata directly from your wishlists and collections is huge - and unique!

I shared some feedback with the developer and was pleased to learn my most desired enhancements are already being worked on, so I have confidence SequelMediaTracker will only get better over time.

Would recommend

This is a pretty app that is fast and responsive and makes looking up movies/books/shows and games very easy.

It would be if they eventually included music for albums you’re looking forward to, and id appreciate various ways to organize your lists like alphabetical, date added, etc

Nonetheless I subscribed to the premium version to help development and because I will be using this regularly

Best In Class

I have tried practically every app to track media content. Settled in on Trakt a few years ago, but the service an associated apps are clunky and all have navigation management issues.

Sequel is by far the best media tracking app…period. Has been thoughtfully designed with the user experience a priority. Beautiful interface and simple to use.

I have canceled my other services and deleted the apps. Sequel is Best in Class.

Fantastic media tracker

Great-looking interface, with a deceptively simple, easy to understand UI that packs a lot of useful features without seeming complicated at all.

And the new “Magic Lookup” is one of the best AI-powered features I’ve seen. If you’re reading a web page that mentions one or more movies, shows, books, or games that you want to track in Sequel, just send that URL Sequel in the Share sheet and it’ll find them.

Great Tracking App

I’ve tried several similar apps, but none compare with this. The interface is beautiful and fluid. And I really like that Sequel tracks movies, television series, books, and games—more options for collections than other apps.

The widgets are equally well-designed and useful. The developer is responsive and kind, and follows up—which is delightful. I’m a big fan!

Great way to track your content

Sequel is a great way to track many of your interests. Previously, I used word docs or multiple other apps, now it’s all in one spot. The databases Sequel pulls from is comprehensive, and I have been able to locate every entry I’ve searched for.
It would be nice if the one-time fee (if you choose that route) for SequelMediaTracker was a lower price.

Just what we were looking for

My wife has been keeping a list in Notes of shows we want to watch, and using the calendar to put in premiere dates. I figured there had to be an app for that, so stumbled across Sequel. SequelMediaTracker is fantastic! Everything we’ve been looking for in terms of keeping track of shows and what episodes we’ve watched and such. Only thing I would add would be a share feature so I don’t have to text her to add something to her list, but SequelMediaTracker is great!
