I never leave reviews. It’s that bad. First of all, It would’ve saved me a lot of time if I had known that you need to pre-register on their website before you’re able to log into the new app. Unfortunately, the password that I set up to use WesterraCU didn’t transfer and so I struggled for at least 15 minutes with trying to get logged in. I’m not even sure how or why it eventually worked. The touch id set up on the web browser does not appear to be functioning on WesterraCU . I also was not able to re-setup my auto payment for my loan on WesterraCU . When I was frustrated and wanted to get help with this issue, the message feature did not work on WesterraCU . It would type a few sentences and then chunks of text would disappear. Then, I finally went back and successfully logged in onto the Web browser, I manually paid for my car loan. Unfortunately, this payment did not post in WesterraCU . Apparently, our balances are not available in real time which is, in my opinion, i a minimum feature an online banking app should have. WesterraCU is a dumpster fire, but the process of transferring us over and the lack of communication is worse. It definitely was not set up to protect the consumer. These platforms that are not speaking to each other…I imagine it’s inconvenient, confusing, and frustrating for many. I hope that Westerra works with people before charging them late fees on their accounts or reporting them to collections agencies. This could get messy quickly if it isn’t addressed.

App never works

WesterraCU never works when I need it to. I’ve had so many awkward moments while trying to transfer money to my checking, but WesterraCU stops working. PLEASE FIX WesterraCU!!

Absolute train wreck

Account balance is unreliable. The transaction notifications will spam you repeatedly with same transactions over and over and over again. Logged out alert is annoying and unnecessary—just log me in again with Face ID like every other app.

Originally opened a Westerra account because they were on Plaid and I could pay rent online but now that’s suddenly gone? HUGE step backwards in almost every way. Gonna be closing my account and moving to a different credit union.

Get it together Westerra

This has been the worst experience to what is comically described as an ‘updated’ app. The old app was way better and now making users set up all e-bills and external transfers from scratch is extremely inconvenient.

Can’t organize accounts. Many of the options in the old app are simply not available. This was a terrible idea and makes me feel like if I’m setting up everything new as a first time customer, I might as well do that with a new Credit Union.

Horrible app

WesterraCU is absolutely terrible I can no longer sign in with Face ID and it’s not a smooth experience. And I love that I get 50 notifications for the SAME TRANSACTION not only on my phone but when I open WesterraCU I am bombarded with banners of my last months worth of purchases (which btw makes it so I can’t tap on anything or even see my balance). Westerra your apps have always been horrible I don’t understand why it is so hard for you guys to make decent app THAT ACTUALLY FUNCTIONS.

Hate this new system

If I could give no stars I would! Almost every other week, I cannot transfer money in the account. I HATE seeing other people’s accounts on my accounts and vice versa. I don’t want to see my moms accounts and I don’t want her ti see mine!!! Taking me off the accounts is not the answer fix this already I never was able to see them with the old system fix this or get sued

An absolute waste of time and effort

The previous version of WesterraCU worked perfectly fine, and the ‘new improved’ version is much more cumbersome, wiped out all of our automatic payments, takes more steps to log out, doesn’t fit a horizontal format on an iPad, and several other annoyances. I wish there was a way to revert to the older version that actually worked!

Improving app, but pretty awful experiences

Does not work with Mint anymore. Clumsy app. WesterraCU from 2 years ago was WAY better.

Also their HELOC rules exclude anything you’d want to do to your house if it involves expanding it. Elevation CU had no problem with my 780 credit score.

Close to being on my out of Westerra - for good!! Not sure if leadership changed recently, but it’s NOT the Westerra of old at all, and that’s NOT a good thing.

Useless

I haven’t been able to log in for two days now it keeps giving me a error message I’m losing all patience with WesterraCU

Application is Terrible!!

Ever since they have made the change to the new application, it has been nothing but terrible for use. Majority of the time I can’t login. It sits there with the Westerra Logo, and nothing. I have restarted the application, I have deleted it and redownloaded it still the same issue. When I do get into it, it won’t show all my accounts, or will be a blank screen. I have been with Westerra since before they were Westerra (over 30 years). Finding me a new Credit Union that has there customers in mind and the use of products updated and working correctly. Shoot, they closed the branch closest to my house too. They are not conveniently located for me anymore either. I suggest all customer to move on from Westerra. They are behind on the times, and don’t care about there customers anymore.

Just all around awful

Impossible to deposit checks in the year of 2023. I tried 7 different backgrounds and lighting. Super buggy as well.

Title says it all, WesterraCU is broken and considering the importance of what its supposed to do I expect better.

Won’t do multiple accounts

Ever since the launch of this new & “improved” app I can’t access all my accounts through one log in as before. Supposedly you can search and find your other accounts to transfer money but that has never worked. I haven’t used my second account in over a year because to do so I have to delete WesterraCU , redownload, and relaunch. Once in an account there’s no way to log out to reenter into another.

After how many years of this “new” updated app, another update just occurred yesterday. Now I can’t even access my account through WesterraCU because it says invalid log in info. But I can log in online and WesterraCU accepts my facial recognition but then says invalid credentials. And complaints only go to the bank which does nothing to fix or adjust WesterraCU . If my app won’t work what’s the point of using that bank?

Too many bugs

WesterraCU has too many bugs they still need to work out. Can’t transfer externally, check payment history, or pay bills. App just logs you out and ends the session. Very hit and miss with WesterraCU.

2.0.6 version gives “Session timed out” every time I try to use Pay Bills.

Tells me none of my login info is correct and when I try to get an email to help me log in they won’t send me an email.

Bill Pay Never Works!

Please fix WesterraCU so that the bill pay feature works! Everyone I click i. bill pay WesterraCU closes and says “session closed”. So frustrating!

New app useless, bring back old one!

Idk why you decided to switch out a good working app for a useless one!! I moved out of state and have stayed with Westerra because I have enjoyed membership with you for almost a decade now. But this last app change has just made things impossible to do anything on WesterraCU , which makes it useless to me! I am seriously just closing this down and going somewhere else that has a descent app…. Like you old app. Horrible decision & whoever was in charge of that should be fired. Shameful.

Horrific experience

This credit union forces you to switch over to their new app and then WesterraCU doesn’t work. I have uninstalled and reinstalled multiple times. I have followed the steps online to get set up on WesterraCU . All I ever get is an error message. Have tried calling but the wait times are absurd to talk to anyone. Will be closing accounts here. This was a HUGE step backwards and in 2022 it’s absurd that a brand new app was made and they somehow managed to make to this terrible.

This is a mess

2 hours total of my life so far that I won’t get back. I feel so bad for the poor Westerra employees having to deal with this. This new system is a nightmare to navigate. We had to go on hold yesterday to get one account’s information straightened out since 2 separate charges had been declined on us ( plenty of $ in acct). Today I tried to transfer from one account to another and all I got was a screen saying “success!” You have transferred X amount of dollars. No indication what acct it came from, what acct it went to or date of transfer. Plus no way to designate where you want funds to go (prime, checking, money market). The Westerra employee said she could see it went into Prime but on my phone and computer there is no indication funds were transferred in. She said there must be a lag?! This better get cleared up fast or my 30 year relationship with Westerra will end, so sad I have always been happy with their people and service but I have to know where our money is and have easy access for information and transfers.

Terrible

Absolutely terrible app. Ever since they changed it it has been such a PAIN to deal with. Kept telling me my credentials were wrong even though I never changed anything. Then I updated them, used the new password it made me create, and it STILL didn’t work! I don’t have access to my own account! They shouldn’t have messed with it!

This is the last straw.

Why would Westerra make anything easy?! I followed the email instructions to set up a new password, download this new app, used the new password I JUST created…. And surprise surprise “sorry something went wrong, try again later” I called the toll free number and got a horrendously rude woman ‘helping’ me get into the new app. I’ve had a Westerra account since 2013 and it’s time for me to move on, I’m done. Poor apps that continually have “maintenance” and crash multiple times, followed by rude phone operators… I’m done.

App doesn’t give any information about debit purchases

WesterraCU doesn’t give any information about debit purchases, it just has the amount and “uncategorized ”. The process of transitioning to WesterraCU was not great and it meant I didn’t have access to my account for the weekend. And now I find it’s for an app that is MUCH worse than the previous one?? Ok Westerra, you win, I’ll go find another bank, you obviously hate having my business.

This app is so broken

I have been with Westerra for almost 10 years and I cannot express how disappointed I am with them at this time. WesterraCU is completely unusable and unfinished I’m not sure why they would ever even consider releasing it at this point. It’s completely embarrassing. I have not been able to get into my account and continuously get and error message when trying to log in. Very disappointing

FIX YOUR APP!

I had to to go on my computer and login on their website to see if my paycheck went into my account. It’s been staying the same amount for three days and I know I’ve spent money and got a paycheck. It also doesn’t show when I transfer money into different accounts it just says there’s an error and can’t do it Stop making new apps there was nothing wrong with the last one!!

Odd Issues

Ever since this new app launched, I've been trying to log in to my account and everytime I do, it says I have the wrong information. I changed my password 3 times now and one I enter in the password that I just created, it still says I have the wrong information. I've deleted and redownloaded WesterraCU multiple times now and am still having issues. Please fix

Great banking, app is antiquated

I've been banking with them for six years now. While my service is great, WesterraCU simply never matches the times. Outdated and insufficient updates prove that while good for holding money. App is not great for accessing and moving that money. Which is frustrating. No Zelle access. Setting up transfers is difficult. Please catch up. I want to continue banking with you.

The Upgrade Has Got To Go!!

WesterraCU is useless. I can’t keep track of my transactions at all. They will not show until a day later or more. Unfortunately if WesterraCU doesn’t get fixed soon enough I am going to have to switch banks & I really do not want to I’ve had my bank account for 7 years. Please fix this or just place the old app back!!!

Terrible

They needed to change absolutely nothing about the way their online banking worked. The old app was user friendly, easy to use, could deposit checks, and even achieved the feat of letting me log in with no difficulty.
This new trash fire won’t even let me log in with the new password I created. This is terrible and should be reverted immediately.

Doesn’t update automatically, when we live in a world where we use our debit cards everywhere 🤷‍♀️ I noticed if you delete WesterraCU , to reload on your phone yet again, and log back in. It shows the updated balance on your account. I shouldn’t have to go through all of this work to see my current balance. 🙄

No new features, what a waste!

You can barely do anything in the new app, just like the old app… you just made it a smoother gui, no new functionality, just a terrible online banking experience… still.

Complete failure of Westerra’s IT Dept

Westerra should fire their IT. They forced members to create a new online account (they pretended it was just a mandatory password change) in order to use the new app. They forced members to use the new app because the old app won’t work anymore and just sends you to WesterraCU Store to download the new app. You can’t use the old website either. I successfully finished creating my new account on their website. When I got to the log in screen it tried to verify me by my phone number. It gives both an SMS and a voice option. Neither work even though the number is valid and other calls and SMS messages are coming through fine. So, I spent the weekend locked out of my Westerra account. I couldn't log in on WesterraCU or the new website either. I went to call in today to talk to someone and try to get this piece of junk new app working but suprise suprise they are having phone issues. If you call, you get a message that their phones aren’t working. So, let me get this straight. You scheduled an app upgrade for the weekend, where nobody was around to answer calls in case anything went wrong. The new app required working phones to verify members identities. Then, to add to the chaos, you scheduled a phone upgrade the same weekend, which also went horribly wrong? And you had no rollback plan?

Wow. Perhaps NCUA should get involved. Is Westerra even a viable credit union anymore?

Are you guys even going to fix this?

I haven’t been able to log into MY account since WesterraCU changed over. And the bank can’t even help. UM HELLO?! I CANT ACCESS MY OWN MONEY!!? terrible.

Why

Westerra Legacy app was perfect. But y’all axed that for this crap? Why? This is a terrible app, I know the intention was for better, but the thought lacked. Can you just allow legacy to come back while you’re work on this shhhhhhhheeeet?

It was better before

I can’t believe they made everyone log back in with new passwords and put in extremely sensitive information for this lousy upgrade.

Bill Pay

I can’t even use the bill pay option to make payments. WesterraCU is only good for balance transfers and viewing your account.

Who’s idea was this??

Frustrating each time I go on. I need to verify identity about every other time I login. Switching over to the new app was easy enough thankfully. But it’s not easy to navigate. The old one wasn’t flashy but it was simple and easy. This one is clunky. The best part is that it doesn’t update in real-time or after logging out and back in. Super helpful. Most of my transactions are coming up as uncategorized when using debit. I appreciate the effort, but this is not working.

Frustrating

Frustrating. Needs work.

Not very helpful

I’ve had issues on and off with WesterraCU, but for the last week, every time I log in and select external transfer (to pay our car payment) WesterraCU logs me out. I don’t understand why it’s this difficult to make a payment.

Please god fix your app.

Every other time I use WesterraCU , it automatically crashes out, and to get back in and actually get what I need, I have to reset my entire phone. The UI also is pretty unintuitive.

Great except…

I haven’t been able to pay a bill thru WesterraCU in months. Can still transfer, deposit and see accounts, but it’s inconvenient to have to log onto the website to pay bills.

WesterraCU is so inconsistent. Regularly, I have to relaunch WesterraCU or delete and download again to get results.

Constantly getting locked out and you can read the text in the new app

At least once a month if not more, I am denied access to my account. It is always necessary for me to spend at least 30 minutes for Customer Service to fix the problem which is greatly concerning. Not only disappointed but the text is not legible. Light grey on white background! Really! I can no longer use WesterraCU on my phone because I can’t read the font!!! I tried to log into my account on my computer and a message indicates I am already logged in or my identity is unknown. I’m closing my account due to still another blunder.

Check deposit hangs on last check.

When depositing checks, WesterraCU doesn’t clear the last check deposited so you can deposit additional checks after verifying and accepting the deposit of the first check. You have to log out and back in to deposit each check.

Bug Report External Transfers

Hi, not sure where to reach out to report a bug. Glad to have an app to pay my loan and it pretty much does (did) what I need, except since the most recent update a few weeks ago now. Now when I click “external transfers” (which is how I pay) it automatically/immediately logs me out. I made my payment earlier this month on the website which obviously isn’t the end of the world, but does render WesterraCU useless.
Once this is fixed WesterraCU will be functional again.

Lacking features

What exists in WesterraCU works well enough, but it seriously lacks basic features of other apps. Paying off credit cards is a huge pain, you have to memorize the amount on the previous screen, and there’s no autopay!

WesterraCU is so bad it’s making me consider other banks.

New app is a huge upgrade

This new app is an incredibly huge upgrade. Lots more features, works quicker, and looks sleek. Only 4 stars because I consistently have trouble ‘verifying check details’ when depositing printed checks via images.

So far so good!

All of my accounts are now transitioned to the new app and everything seems to be working well. I really like being able to view all of my accounts regardless of the account number with a single login now. Nice!

App has greatly improved!

The frustrations in the other reviews were a real thing. However, ease of use has improved considerably. Great job WCU team!

** Note to developers - leaving WesterraCU signed in when suspended doesn’t seem to be great for overall security, nor is it standard. I don’t know if this is just a bug or a design decision.

Huge Improvement!

The old OLB platform got the job done, but this one is a massive improvement! It’s clean and easy to use.

Clean, Simple, and Fast

WesterraCU is so easy to use and has such an eye-friendly layout. I had an account with another credit union that had such a wonky and slow user experience that I had to switch. No regrets moving to Westerra! Also super cool that it has many benefits that fintech banks typically have like early direct deposit and a no-free overdraft system— plus you always have the physical branches or CO-OP network credit unions to fall back on in case of emergencies (unlike online-only banks where you’re basically screwed if you lose your card). Thank you for making digital-first, modern solutions for banking in 2022!
