Needs work

Incredible latency from option selection to when my lights actually change. With the recent app update, I was logged out and when I attempt to log back in I’m told that my email and password don’t match. Due to this, I am writing this review in the dark because I can’t turn my lights on. I switched out to the Roku bulbs because I was having a similar issue which cheaper ones I have bought. Assuming these ones would better, I got these at twice the cost per bulb. These Roku ones currently don’t work at all where the cheaper ones always worked - just weren’t as bright as I wanted. Heh, kind of left in the dark with this one. I will say this, I will never buy another product under the Roku brand again after this.

Waste of money

I had written two previous reviews, but they must’ve been removed because someone wasn’t happy with my feedback.

I have had these cameras for a couple months now, and before I bought the subscription, I wasn’t having issues with video playback. Now that I’ve spent $100 on a yearly subscription, these cameras have become useless.

Every time I go to play a motion clip, the video is never saved so I can’t view any motion videos. It’s really awesome when I live in a medium-high crime area and stuff is happening right out front of my home, and I can’t give my videos to the cops because the motion clips don’t save to the cloud.

Roku support tells people they should move their cameras closer to their Wi-Fi router or click out of the video and click back in it and that should work. Maybe the solution should be to fix your product instead of blaming it on user error. Make better cameras and fix RokuSmartHome . What good is a camera if I have to practically have it sitting on top of my Wi-Fi router for it to work?

Clicking out of a motion clip and clicking back onto it does not work. Restarting the cameras does not work. Shutting down RokuSmartHome does not work. If a video is not saved to the cloud, because these cameras are crap, clicking back into the video isn’t going to work. I will be throwing my three cameras in the garbage where they belong, and investing in cameras that actually work from a different company that strives to make their product better.

New update doesn’t work

My indoor camera was working fine until this latest update, it prompts you to update your camera and after you do so try to update it, it won’t connect with your internet even if you do hard resets, I called Roku and they sent me a new device and did the installation over again and it worked for like 3 second but then it prompt me to do the update (or else you can’t use the camera) I did the update and now camera new camera won’t connect to wifi, this would be the third camera that has this issue, and when you call them they can’t speak proper English to understand your issue and it’s frustrating

Greedy Roku! Never use your products again!

I Purchased two cameras at Walmart but returning them very soon. I disappointed by Roku because I cannot playback recorded videos from SD card on Roku app. The only option to playback recorded videos I have to pull out the SD cards and insert them in the computer. Roku you are failed…! Over the years I used a lot of Roku products and always giving them good ratings but not this one. I have camera made by Zmodo and Mercury anytime I can playback them recorded videos from SD card without any subscription on their apps. Roku loves money thats why forcing us subscription for playback SD cards from the cloud that is greedy…! Anyway unless you add SD playback button I no more using any Roku products again never…!!! For now, I gave you one star. ⭐️

Camera is useless because of the app.

I got the front door bell camera. It was great the first day. Now I can’t see any recordings while I’m away from my home. What use is it if I can’t see them when I’m away from my home? I called customer support and they told me to just uninstall and reinstall RokuSmartHome . I have had to do it 3 days in a row and I’m tired of it. The quality is great and I was so excited to finally have a little bit of security while I’m away from my home. But that was quickly diminished. I will be returning my Roku camera unfortunately. I am so disappointed, i had so much hope for it, since I have 4 Roku tvs in my home and love them.

What a disappointment. If I could give 0 stars I would.

U can Not Playbake Your Recordings 👎🏽

U can Not Playbake Your Recordings even doe u pay for the membership Plan or even if u put a SD CARD in the Slot don’t Matter still can’t look at your playback Recordings in RokuSmartHome on your phone , Roku say u have to take down your cameras , take the sd card out the cameras , thin put the sd card in a computer, that’s crazy this is not year 1999, u have to do all that to look at the Playbake recordings, So I took all 5 cameras back to Walmart got a refund , and went on Walmart App and ordered the WYZE V3 Camers same Camers Roku had but the difference is Wyze v3 Can Playback Recordings this is a major plus with Wyze. Remember People Roku Do Not Playback Your Recordings and Wyze DO Playback all your Recordings ( Wyze v3 Cameras A+ )

horrifically tedious

i have to re-set the camera up once a month at the VERY least because it decides to just boot itself off RokuSmartHome and then i have to go through the entire process over again. never get any notifications despite all the settings being correct for RokuSmartHome and in my own notification settings on my phone. camera moves on its own at times so who knows maybe someone’s hacked into it seeing as how i doubt they have decent enough protection in place to prevent it from happening when they can’t even prevent you from having to redo the setup process 24 times a year for one single camera. switching as soon as i can replace the stupid thing.

Killed my excitement

Worst camera ever. Was excited to try out this $100 wireless doorbell since I already have a Roku tv. I said wow I can view on my tv when someone rings my bell ! Well that didn’t last long. 1 month in and already having connection issues. 2 months in and having video playback issues with a subscription, connection issues, lots of error messages , battery issues ! Literally am charging my camera at least twice a week with over night charging. Yes my settings were set to the minimum and even like that battery dies so quick. I regret spending $100 on this junk !

I can hear peoples voices. I can’t understand what they are saying. But I catch a word here and there.
The oddest part is it appears that they can hear me even if the speak feature isn’t on.
Now before u think I’m delusional I have had other people, friends and family listen with me sometimes. And they to hear it, and can see a type of interaction. So whatever it is, it’s definitely real. Now the crazy part is that it seems to be a person I know. And where I live my closest neighbors are through very dense forest and vines. Not just that. The volume of the “voices” never changes due to the placement of the floodlight camera. Even when I bring the camera inside after wiring it safely to the female end of an extension cord. Actually I hear them better when there’s no birds and bugs making noise.
Well I’m gonna give 5 stars because other than the anomaly or the possibility of being spayed on, I’m happy with the product. As scripted as that may sound.
But if i could get ANY feedback about that issue would be most helpful.

For my equipment to work well I have to have 3 iPhone 15 pro max, Roku's response to my problem

I bought three home security devices to have in my home, my work and my country house, but the application only supports one place, the solution they gave me is that since I have three houses I have to buy three iPhone 15s for be monitoring my three houses, this was the most pathetic answer that anyone can give me in 2023, it is very basic, it is to protect worthless houses, I think I would use it to protect a garage or a tree house, I would not trust my valuable house just Roku, and above all because to have my three safe houses apart from buying the three Roku devices, they want three iPhone 15 pro max, to walk around like I'm crazy with three cell phones in 2023, completely illogical, unacceptable, it is The home security system is too basic, I would only use it to protect the tree house, or an empty garage, or some unimportant place, if your home is essential to you I would not use this basic system

First off you buy the cameras download RokuSmartHome then you get charged per camera. Constant login issues ,set up is user-friendly if you can get past that. Then Roku tries to make you use your TV login which I didn’t wanna do ,I don’t need to see it on my TV. I need to see it remotely that’s why I have them and then there’s the connectivity issues. To add, possibly a security breach, my WiFi connection has failed to work since the installation of the cameras, having to now replace my hardware.. should have stayed with the original little white cam box manufacturer

Work just fine with the two weeks trial as soon as I subscribed been a headache Will not work on my tv .. did work on the trial everything work perfectly! Starting to wonder was that just to get us to subscribe??? Because right now not worth a darn!!!! I will take it back to Walmart and buy another name brand camera that works!! Also the agent I chat with no help no knowledge on networking !!! This agent should have some certification!! Would not recommend!!! I will call and talk with a person!!

Problems since upgrade

**update 8/14** i see multiple supposed fixed in the last month but no real change in functionality. The cameras are not recording appropriately. Playback freezes if I try to turn to full screen view. No “graying” of vídeos already watched in the event recordings. Alerts are inaccurate and mostly absent. Cannot zoom easily on cameras. Please remove the red “live” box at top corner as it blocks view So many glitches since the upgrade… there have been no push notifications. All of the camera settings reset without warning to turn off my notifications so I had to change them back. Even with the push notifications toggled on, they do not come through. The cameras take a long time to load when trying to view real time. The event page struggles to load all of the thumbnails, then does not show which recordings you have viewed after viewing them. When watching recordings, if I try to view in full screen, the video gets stuck, then if I go back to the initial view, the whole video is stuck. Have to go back to the events listing and start over. Please fix these bugs!

TERRIBLE UPDATE RUINED APP

The most recent update absolutely ruined RokuSmartHome. I paid for a year of multiple cameras (plus) and I am running out of patience after one month of use. What’s the point of having a home monitoring system that doesn’t even work? I go to check an event recording from last week which is within the 14 days perk of paying the subscription — and the video shows as a still frame as if I have free version. I go to check an event recording from early today and it shows the exact clips listed for yesterday. Whatever update you guys put out, it’s completely destroyed any trust I have in your products. I’ve been checking out competitors. I feel embarrassed and scammed to have paid for a year-long subscription just to have RokuSmartHome not work after a month. Please help me get my money back.

Still not working like it used to

They corrected the notification share, but I have been keeping track of my recordings and I still have large gaps missing in my recordings as well as the timestamps being completely wrong. It will say that some recordings are from 3 AM when they were really from 9 PM. This makes it very difficult as I specifically got an annual subscription with them to monitor my house and my pets in case of any issues I can trace it back to who it was. But now everything is not how it should be. I’m still very disappointed in Roku and I want to refund at this point because I’ve reached out to them going on 3 to 4 times to try and fix the notification issue only for it to have been fixed almost a month later and I’m still experiencing issues.

Don't use Roku account for anything important

They WILL lock you out of something you have paid for at some point. When it suddenly wants you to login where you shouldn't be logged out, save yourself the hassle and just put the hardware back in the box while you can still get a refund.

I downloaded RokuSmartHome the same day as the last update. I had just bought two smart bulbs, and I tried to set them up. Every time I try to connect them, RokuSmartHome crashes. So I contact customer service, waste of time. They did nothing, and I don’t think they believed me that the issue was on their end.

Awful since update

Came here to see if anyone else was having trouble. I’ve been messing with my phone and its settings thinking something was wrong with my phone. I tried everything. Uninstalling RokuSmartHome . Reinstalling. Resetting the cameras. Resetting my router. Making sure everything was up to date. I use one camera as a baby monitor and another one for the front door. Ever since last update, I guess, sooooo many problems. Can’t hear anything. Constantly having to reconnect. Video recording is a joke. Under events, some videos say 45 minutes? But when you go to play it nothing happens. Now videos are only 3-4 seconds long. Super odd and extremely annoying. I’ve had these camera for about a year and they were perfect, now they are useless. If no fix soon, I’ll go with something else. Shouldn’t have these problems at all when it comes to security and safety. That’s why most people have cameras, right? Completely unacceptable and quite frankly infuriating.

I used RokuSmartHome once and it work but while under WiFi RokuSmartHome froze and then logged me off. When I tried to log back in it kept saying that my email or password doesn’t match with their records and even after changing my password so many times it still said the same thing. I need this to watch over my dog while at work and it’s not working like it supposed to. 🙄😠

Won’t even load app

Download it app and opened up an app. It asked me to except user agreement. I hit continue. It kicked me out to my home screen on my phone and that is what RokuSmartHome does every time you click on the icon it opens up and kicks you immediately back to your home screen so cannot appropriately read RokuSmartHome because it won’t even load on my phone which is sad because I spent over $300 on devices for RokuSmartHome and I can’t even use it

Can’t sign in

Just purchased two bulbs. Downloaded RokuSmartHome and it won’t allow me to sign in at all. When I launch RokuSmartHome , a prompt appears asking me to sign into my existing Roku account, but I’m taken to the sign in page after I click it. Then, if I try to type in my email and password, I receive an error message stating the email address or password provided doesn’t match Riki’s records. I’ve checked several times to make sure it is correct but no luck.

Unreliable

I love my Roku color smart bulbs when I can actually use them. But that requires RokuSmartHome, and it’s super buggy and unreliable. It’s either slow to load or crashes over and over. Creating rules and schedules for the bulbs goes pretty smoothly when RokuSmartHome will work. But trying to adjust the color or brightness of a bulb directly crashes RokuSmartHome every time. I’m a long time Roku customer whose owned several models of streaming box since the original, and I sing their praises all the time. But they are not doing smart home well, and it’s affecting my opinion of them overall.

Disappointed

We have outdoor wired cameras that that work well for live viewing. The problem is recording motion events; often there is only a still image or it records nothing at all. The Wi-Fi signal is good. It now happens every 1-3 days, and we constantly have to restart or reset the cameras to get them working again. I’ve asked for help and was never answered.

This is probably more a problem with the cameras, firmware and cloud than it is with RokuSmartHome itself. In any case, we’ll probably have to replace this camera system because the whole point is to reliably record motion events when we’re asleep or not there.

I was so excited to get the store now from Roku and its features to be integrated into the Roku TV and pop-up if the doorbell button was pushed… Got it set up only to find out that if I wanted to have it on multiple TVs with different accounts that was not gonna be a reality. The only solution they have available is to logon with the same accountant… That’s not gonna be realistic or acceptable for families that have different accounts and different play history channels, etc. I don’t to be logging onto my stuff and find out my play playlist has been changed deleted modified ect. Huge deal dealbreaker going to return if not fixed immediately. Also, the camera viewing app was not implemented as well as I thought it was going to be when the doorbell button is pushed a little window pops up and then you have to manually click it like this it was not like the ring or Google implementation, so much potential, but lack of implementation and follow through way too many apps to need to integrate it into want to be unified. I have to flip between Roku apps now just to watch things on TV… What the heck?

I should have waited

I love my ROKU streaming devices and was excited to learn about their home monitoring system. I should have waited until the kinks were worked out before buying for my home. The cost for the monitoring system & price if you want professional monitoring is awesome. They system hub being strong enough to connect with all sensors is weak/not good/and frustrating. Even sensors closest to the hub go offline so it’s more than sensors distance from the hub. Customer service is the worst. I reached out for assistance & continued to get canned & automatic responses that promise to follow up and haven’t to date (been a week). Update: I was told my various sensors being offline is not normal and someone would be contacting me. To date I still have not been contacted. I have requested a refund if my system sensor issues cannot be fixed. That has also been ignored, as well
as saying “sir we are going to send you a complete new system replacement for all initials and extra sensors:keypads you ordered”. If a remedy is found I will update this 2 star rating.

App keeps crashing

We use RokuSmartHome to control the lights in our bedroom, and we used to use it for our bathroom as well. However, our bathroom light got disconnected, and reconnecting it was a hassle. RokuSmartHome is also slow to use and crashes a lot. Eventually we decided it was easier to use a regular bulb with a dimmer switch instead of the smart bulb. We liked the sunset and sunrise feature for our bedroom lights, but RokuSmartHome would often crash more than once in the process of trying to adjust the lighting, and adjusting the sunset/sunrise schedule was long and tedious, because of the loading time and crashes. Also, if RokuSmartHome decides not to work, and our lights are stuck on a very dim mode, we have no way to adjust them. It’s a great concept, but the poor performance of RokuSmartHome made it less desirable than a simple dimmer switch option.

Paying subscriber here - Roku refused to let me access my cameras when I needed them most

Seething with anger at the arrogant “time to update app” screen that popped up at a moment where I really needed to see my camera. The full screen, all-purple “time to update app” splash message would not let me close it and would not let me see my cameras. I paid for the cameras and paid for my subscription. I heard a quite loud, startling, unfamiliar sound while I was in the restroom. I wanted to check on it quickly, but when I opened RokuSmartHome , I got that splash screen. I had to stumble out, hurriedly, bruising my wrist in the process, to check what was going on with my own eyes. WHY, ROKU? Why couldn’t you just give the notification and then let me continue using RokuSmartHome ? What was SO URGENT that I had to upgrade to version 3 of your app right then and there? I couldn’t just keep using the old version of RokuSmartHome for another FIVE MINUTES? REALLY? I say this as someone who has, up to this point, been very satisfied with RokuSmartHome, my cameras, and the whole Rokus system. Are you listening, Roku? I really want a refund for all the months I’ve paid for RokuSmartHome. It let me down at the precise moment it would have been helpful to be able to see what was going on.

App Constantly Crashing

We only have Roku lights in our home currently but are already having a hard time trying to operate RokuSmartHome. Just opening RokuSmartHome , it takes almost 2 minutes to load and then another 2 minutes for use to be able to click on the lights or actions. Right now RokuSmartHome won’t even open. Also I’ve used Feit lightbulbs in the past and even though the interface of RokuSmartHome wasn’t the most pleasing, it had so much better features AND worked with Siri to create shortcuts. Please Roku, do better.

cameras won’t update

I literally JUST bought the doorbell two days ago and have the indoor/outdoor rotating cam as well. None of them are allowing me to update the firmware but is saying i can’t use the cameras until it is updated… i’ve tried resetting my app, the cameras, even wifi and still nothing. I’ve sent screenshots and Help log but still no response from anyone on how to fix the issue. Would hate to have to return it but I spent a lot of money for them to not work not even a month into having them

Slow and app crashes

RokuSmartHome/these lights worked great... for about 3 days. Now, RokuSmartHome will only allow us to do one thing (turn light on or off) and then it crashes. Repeatedly. Very frustrating.

This can be a good application. It keep shutting down after you open it. It wont give you time to change or explore RokuSmartHome . And when you do have a chance to get in RokuSmartHome . It freezes after you you select a feature.

Kinda works

App will do what you tell it to with the lights, then immediately crash. Randomly logged me out and wouldn’t recognize even freshly changed password, and wouldn’t let me make a new account. Also as other users have said there’s no push notifications and as insult to injury, no Siri integration.

Can’t even open the app

At first RokuSmartHome wasn’t bad it just wouldn’t connect to my bulbs, but once it connected RokuSmartHome then just wouldn’t let me change the colors unless i exited RokuSmartHome after every time i pushed on the color i wanted. It now won’t even open without crashing. Please fix the functionality of RokuSmartHome .

Motion events audio not synced with video

Every time I download a recent event video from my ROKU 360 camera, the audio is like 3 seconds behind. It’s very annoying putting the footage in iMovie (any video editor) just to sync the audio, then exporting the fixed version to my cloud. What if I have to recover a dozen video clips all because the motion detection stops seconds short before more motion detection was read? Now I have to download the next video clip and another 10 more all in total to equal only 4 minutes of video all of which have out of sync audio that needs to be fixed simultaneously? I said that like I once did it before… and I did! Really annoying, especially if there’s almost nothing to help sync. The audio is synced when you record from your phone, but what are your chances of looking through the camera and finding suspicious activity in your neighborhood at 4 in the morning on a work night? It annoys me to think that this feels like a simple fix, yet somehow feels like you’re trying to defuse a bomb by cutting one of the 3 wires. I know I made this review feel like a 1-star criticism, but the camera are very helpful at its job, but the synchronization shouldn’t be my problem.

Not working

I’ve had the road crew camera set up for a couple months now I had no problems, recently the camera showed off-line and would not let me reconnect through the mobile app. I then deleted and reinstalled RokuSmartHome , I’ve done all the following steps and still cannot connect my Camera to my local net work, the Wi-Fi is perfectly fine and strong connected to my phone, and still will not work connecting through RokuSmartHome . It’s so annoying and I need help ASAP

Video playback and cameras not working.

I bought a camera for inside my apartment last July 2023 and everything worked well until January 2024. Since mid January my camera will randomly start blinking blue randomly like it’s trying to connect but I would still get movement notifications, just the live feed wouldn’t show anything and would just show as trying to connect. Now the live feeds that I assumed did record when the camera had a solid connection ( or so it would seem) won’t load. Annoyed since I paid for a year of service and not monthly.

Good but unsolicited advice

Camera quality is good. However, it picks up on the most sensitive things. A light post, sirens, moving trees. I’d like you to move the alarm siren feature to be more accessible in the moment. Like a short cut…. Feature. When I need to sound it from live stream. On my phone or a tv or a laptop. I have to juggle as I try an record event and try to sound alarm. I can’t do either or both.
Please make these more renter friendly. I cannot screw cameras in my building. I need certain angles from inside my windows and patio. Also need one for my peephole on the inside of the door. Thank you. Please fix the freezing too and trying to detect the right things. Motion goes off over a tree. Lights mistaken for vehicles or motion.

Fix the issue

I’m tired of looking at my camera for video footage and I can’t see it cuz the video didn’t upload properly or whatever it says. Y’all really need to fix this like ASAP. I have a camera in my room to watch my room and make sure nobody in my room but when I go back to look at the video it doesn’t even play. What am I paying y’all money for if I can’t even watch the video smh.

Needs Improvement

RokuSmartHome does fine on my iPhone but it needs to be iPad friendly. For iPad it needs to be able to work in landscape. The way it is now I have to either remove my iPad from the keyboard or read sideways.

Used to be a really good app but has gotten worse

So im writing this review, i hope the developers can maybe get this fixed because its a major bummer.
But this used to be a really good app that managed the roku cameras for your home surveillance and RokuSmartHome used to work perfectly with all the features you could ask for.
Im not sure what happened though but the main negatives and issues i noticed with the recent updates is before when you’re watching your camera you were able adjust the quality of the stream. Now that feature is gone.
Also, The camera quality has gone down significantly im not sure why its still the same camera but it just doesn’t look as good.
Another main issue i noticed is when i try to zoom in now it always zooms straight into the corner of the top left screen. Before you used to be able to zoom into any point on the screen and see very close up in pretty good detail.
There’s other things as well like not getting the cameras to load when you’re out and about which is a big thing too. Why have them if you cant even see whats going on when you’re away.
There’s other small fixes too but too many to write out. RokuSmartHome used to be perfect like 3 months ago so i just dont understand why it would or could get worse. Hope someone reads my review and hopefully fix these awful changes.

Outdoor/Indoor Cameras

The cameras were working quite well and I believe still are. The issue comes down to RokuSmartHome I believe. When trying to view previous events logged through the camera, RokuSmartHome freezes and I have to close the whole thing down. The only way I’ve found to fix it is to uninstall and reinstall, which isn’t worth it in my opinion. No one has time for that repeatedly. Additionally, one of the outside cameras run completely fine but no alerts are coming from it or events recorded.

Roku smart home alarm system

Over all I’m happy except when the alarm is activated the critical alerts on my phone are not loud enough or long enough to wake me up. Or if I’m driving I’m pretty sure I won’t hear it. Haven’t tried blue tooth yet in car. There needs to be some kind of alarm sound or even a telephone ring to get your attention. Think about it, if I’m out of town and someone breaks into my home, I have an alarm system that doesn’t get my attention and the burglary goes unnoticed, what good is it. The more i think about that the more I think I should have given it a 3. I don’t plan on getting moonlight. Everything else is working fine but can’t give it 5 stars until this is addressed. Plus really wish you would have a call center to answer questions.

Love the indoor cams. Just make sure ur using a residential wifi to have the best experience but I have been using my phones wifi and so far with t mobile I’ve had few problems.
1. The device triggers to record a short clip of motion detected sometimes will not play the short clip but just a picture of nothing unusual unless the person or ect moves really fast past the cameras but it worked find for a week then now it doesn’t record clips for me anymore.
2. I have 3 indoor cameras and I keep the indoor one facing the living room off while I’m home so I get better quality picture on the 2 facing out the windows
3. For some reason I can’t get the phone to connect to the cameras and I says offline and I have to go into RokuSmartHome and click the cams and let them load and now there online. But they will disconnect for no reason. If they can fix this I would be delighted

I have one major request for the Roku Smart Home app: I wish it allowed me to automatically store recordings on Google Drive or iCloud as they are captured. This feature would make managing saved footage much more convenient and accessible, allowing for better organization and peace of mind knowing that my data is securely backed up in my preferred cloud storage service.

Additionally, I'd love to see an improvement in how camera recordings are viewed within RokuSmartHome . As it stands, the recordings are broken down into short clips ranging from 10-30 seconds each, which makes it challenging to go through a complete continuous recording of events. Having the ability to view these recordings as a continuous stream would greatly enhance the user experience, offering a more seamless way to monitor and review footage without the interruption of navigating between numerous short clips.

Have those two things fixed and I would give the 5 stars

RokuSmartHome is excellent and can compete with google home at a reasonable discount. The Roku hardware is reliable and affordable, and RokuSmartHome itself offers versatile programming options. A 5 star review would be deserved, but RokuSmartHome has a few shortcomings:

#1.
RokuSmartHome needs widgets - shortcuts should be available on the Home Screen. If the goal is convenience, the Roku team has stopped one step short of a seamless experience.

#2.
RokuSmartHome team could write a library and make smart home routines accessible within shortcuts app. This would fully integrate the software with iOS and truly give Roku a leg up on the competition.

#3. Roku offers great lighting, power, and security systems - but does not offer any sort of dedicated light switch or control unit. I would love to have a proper light switch that offered physical interaction with the smart home. You should offer a smart light switch, possibly with programmable buttons that correspond to the in-app routines.

These 3 integration requests would put Roku on equal footing with all competitors

Is it possible to change the buttons ( on and off ) to the Apple style ? The slide to the side change color buttons. The little letters are sometimes hard to tell the difference. Otherwise, RokuSmartHome is great and saves me from running back and forth to turn lights , fans and other devices on and off. Plus the dimmable bulbs are really helpful.

Hello Roku I think you’re cameras are a great addition to protect my belongings and home and the quality is great! However I did notice that your recent update has decreased the quality a quite a lot. for one I’m not able to change the quality to HD neither am I able to sync my cameras anymore and because of that my videos etc doesn’t look that good compared to before. I’ve also noticed that my cameras are no longer efficient recording certain events. I use the advanced setting were only certain things can be recorded, I’ve turned off everything but Person and Pets but it still records a stationed vehicle in the background + laundry swaying on the line mistaking them for a person. I still think your cameras are great but this recent update has caused some problems! Thank you so much for a great product however. - Austin

Setup is easy for app, you need good wifi for this to be efficient. New update is kindve sluggish but atleast it’s good at recording any motion or sounds. Has been working great for my front door. I would recommend to Roku however that you should allow us to change the notification sound because I never know when it’s my camera notifying me. Just sounds like a regular notification. Other than that people should allow there team to keep making improvements because it’s been great for someone who isn’t home too often!!

I use RokuSmartHome for my outdoor wired camera and RokuSmartHome performs adequately as long as I’m at home connected to wifi. The only issue I have is when I’m not at home and if I have to only rely on cellular data; I can’t seem to livestream any footage without it freezing🤔the whole purpose of having this device paired with my phone is to monitor what is transpiring around my domain in real-time…

There are lots of notifications of motion being detected. I would suggest person notifications because a moving ceiling fan will send constant notifications. System did stop connecting at one point and I had to shut things down and reconnect. Not good when you have an elderly parent and you had to run to the store.

Great app, with some camera issues

RokuSmartHome is great! I am able to watch my entire bedroom flawlessly, but there is a concern that I am experiencing. 100% of the time, I can not get motion notifications to my phone. I’m only able to receive sound notifications, and it’s frustrating. The only way I can get motion notifications is if I unplug the camera and plug it back in, but yet I still only get one motion notification then it comes back to not sending motion notifications at all. I don’t know what else to do.

Love this camera. Pictures are so clear and I love that it records everything. I had money that was missing out of my safe and was suspicious of somebody that lived in my home, and the camera works great. The only thing I did not like is that it pars with a Roku TV. The person that I was suspicious of has a Roku TV and because he was living in the house it’s under my Internet, so when the camera came on it popped up on his TV set. So he knew I had a camera in the room. The dipstick still went in the room after…. they say you can’t fix stupid they’re right

Can’t believe it’s only $40

Like the title says, I can’t believe it’s so cheap. Wow, exactly what I needed and i went to Walmart with no expectations to find something within my budget of quality. But this Roku camera is all you need. I get to see my pets while I’m at work and that helps me get through the day most days. The quality is amazing and the subscription is like $3. So for a single adult tryn make it in this world. Roku had your back on this one. Took me 3 mins to setup and it came with a trial for the streaming services to keep the feed recorded to a cloud and whatnot. Idc if it’s your last $40 you’re not gonna be sorry you spent it on this.

Bought the camera system feomWalmart and tested it at my Moms. Took less than 5mn to set up. Took it to my house and was able to get it up and running in the same time. Also bought some he subscription and it’s not too bad. Cameras are good quality and RokuSmartHome has nice features to customize your own rules for alerts etc….

I didn’t think this camara wouldBe any better than the other two ahead, but I want to head and bought one and put it upstairs looking out front, last September my car was stolen, and I accidentally left the keys in it, but they are who took it until I took them and gave to the police and got my car back the same day,With $4000 worth of damage, which, I doubt I’ll ever get it sent back because the guy has been on drugs. Most of his life never had a job, I’m sure you know the cons.

I have several meShare cameras that I purchased a few years ago and have since been discontinued. When I needed to replace one I got this Roku camera and I L O V E it! It has a few upgrades from my old cameras: full color night vision, the siren, and I easily integrated it to my Roku TV. I did not purchase the subscription so I’m not sure what will happen after the free 14 day trial, but if it keeps working this well, and I can easily access the live view and record or take a pic if necessary, then I will upgrade all of my cams to Roku.

Camera works great, great picture and load time. Only had one issue with video not uploading to the cloud one day. They are working on fixing that issue and was explained to me right away when I called. For the price, it’s worth the buy if looking for an indoor camera.

The video quality is great. I like the picture when it’s completely dark and how it adjusts with light. I love that I can use the microphone and record and take photos in RokuSmartHome . I could not live happily without my two cameras to monitor my rescue cats who are very scared they prefer bedtime in their room. I can see them and talk to them even though I’m right next door or downstairs or when I have to leave the house.

As a long-standing user, I have been looking forward to ROKU’s latest dip into expanding their horizons since hearing about their upcoming release.

I was skeptical as most non- software developers are about RokuSmartHome and the devices but I was very impressed at the user interface and the set up ease. My boyfriend and I installed our lights behind our bed frame in lieu of getting bulky lamps and I love it so much!!! It’s super simple to control and makes the whole room feel upscale.

I know with new adventures comes hurdles and there will be bugs to fix, but so far as a first look at what’s to come, I have to say I’m excited!

Next, I hope they can look into moving the play/pause button in the original ROKU remote app. I hate that it’s not right below the arrows because I always end up pressing the info button, but that’s besides the point. Love this new app!

I would really appreciate an auto delete for recorded events after a day or a week it would be extremely helpful having to select 20 at a time to delete is a pain and if you don’t keep up with it RokuSmartHome stops recording motion and only shows a snapshot

RokuSmartHome does everything and more. I like using the rules to automate all my lights. The camera picture quality is really clear. Make sure you have a decent WiFi signal - we upgraded our Spectrum WiFi from 25mpbs and haven't had issues since.

Idk what you all did with this update but the speaking doesn’t come through like it used to. There is barely any volume out of the cameras when 3 days ago they worked fine. That was before the update. The time stamp doesn’t show. The zoom is very strange and starts from the corner and is a pain to use. Takes for ever to load up a camera video on RokuSmartHome . I know you want to put it on my wifi, but it wasn’t a problem till the new update…. Work perfectly before and was very happy and recommended this system to many people but the technical changes are a problem.

I normally don’t write reviews but I wanted to make a suggestion for a feature. The ability to slide the color and color temperature selectors with a finger - if implemented it would make things a lot easier as trying to select the right color by tapping is a little difficult.

Just picked up 2 of the color bulbs and so far everything’s works! I’ve never used any smart home devices and setup was easy. My bulbs are in a weak Wi-Fi area and they still respond to RokuSmartHome .

Developers I hope these will work with HomeKit at some point. If not how about widgets, watch app, or works with Siri?

Set it up for outside lights. Easy sunset and sunrise function. You can even do motion detection. I look forward to setting up a lot more lights and settings. Roku made the prices accessible. I’m wondering how to set up multiple homes (Airbnb) if you need a separate account for each home but I’ll find out later. Great app!

My friend Sarah told me to get RokuSmartHome to wonder if my dog was tired during the day- found out I actually had a person coming i. To my house illegally- I.e landlord- not a big deal I have nothing to hide but just super disruptive to my poor dog! No wonder she was having.
