I was really hoping FixMyPics would work, but it really didn’t for me. I scanned a series of photo slides from the 50’s-80’s and I was hoping that for the best quality ones, it would remove the dust flecks on the slides and on the worst ones cracking from water damage due to Hurricane Katrina.
For the easiest ones, I tried an example of my dad on a camel in Egypt. There were flecks in the perfect blue sky due to dust on the pic when I scanned it (I didn’t see it until after I scanned them). Rather that dusting the slide and risk scratching it, I thought to try to see if it could be easily digitally removed. Did the dust get removed…well yes and no. Roughly 30% were removed, but so was part (only part) of a telephone pole and camel’s neck was badly blurred like a novice discovering and using the smudge tool for the first time. So it did a lot more harm then good.
For the more difficult one, there was a picture of my brother when he was a toddler on a sailboat. This picture was cracked similar to some of the examples they show. Instead of fixing the cracking, it removed parts of the boat and enhanced the color, which made the cracks even worse.
I am really not convinced that any of the images they provide examples of were actually used in this program based on my experience so far. I have the free Pro version for another few days and will see what happens. I will gladly revise this review if I get better results.
In see that so many have had a good experience with FixMyPics. Just as many have had an experience similar to mine. The scan feature is not working on my iPhone 14. I can scan the photo but am unable to access it to enhance it - I just get a black screen. I tried the work around by taking a photo of a photo and attempted to enhance that way. I got an icon on the screen indicating processing but there was literally nod difference in the photo. I attempted to cancel the subscription within 90 minutes but discovered I they will issue a refund. It wasn’t until that point I went to the website and saw all the bad reviews. Save yourself the $46.
As of today, April 13, 2023 nothing has changed and I mean nothing.
I’ve tried finding out where to email you the photos, again nothing there. I wish Apple would allow us to post the results meaning picture. Of course the face’s can be blocked out but again it’s all about money who can you fool. Why can’t we email you the photos your app claimed it fixed?
I’ve tried tour app several times, even deleted it and uploaded it again. Your app does noting and I mean nothing. All the cracks was still there. Your app didn’t improve one thing, and you want people to buy your app. No thanks, after this I will be deleting it again. As of today, March 19, 2023 still no improvement at all. Why are they allowing you to lie? The before and after is the same, never heard from your company at all. Plus you haven’t got anything where we can post the before and after picture so people can see your app does nothing at all.
I’m a fireman and I use FixMyPics to colorize old fire photos. The colorization has always struggled with reds and oranges and an update recently made it so many oranges and reds are shown prominently, however it regularly now mistakes other colors like blue for red or orange. The Ai needs more reps, more machine learning, to get to where it needs to be. Perhaps a few more options for colorizing adjustment could be added to give the user more options
This is a clunky piece of work that only does part of the job. It colorizes a little bit, but leaves glaring parts of the photo undone. Skin tone halfway down a leg at which point it becomes gray. That’s attractive. Not.
It did a fantastic job fixing a pixelated newspaper picture, at least on the face and half way down the neck, where the little dots showed up again. And they were more evident because FixMyPics had enhanced them, but not smoothed them away. Who wants a piece of garbage like this one? It should be free because that is exactly what it’s worth … nothing!
An old photo taken a decade ago, older resolution but still a smartphone.
At first I thought it was amazing. Then I zoomed in.. somehow I’m making the picture look more crisp (which it did) after zooming in all of our faces were so wrinkly! It must’ve added 20 years to everyone’s faces. Weird!
Mixed results. Quick glance, great. Zoom in, not so great.
FixMyPics did nothing but smear the faces of the people on my photo & that’s how the scratches came out. They’re mouth’s appeared opened much larger because they were laughing which appear very fake & made me want to cry….because 2 of these people have passed away and I hold them very dear to heart and so do many of my family members. I wish I never would have done this. This will be bestowed in mind forever now when I look at this picture…what a terrible app!
FixMyPics rocks. It does well with enhancing blurry images and really colorized well. Sometimes the facial reconstruction can be a bit weird on very blurry photos but overall it does surprisingly well. I would give it five stars if it would only save photos in the highest resolution possible. I have found that on the images taken with my phone…9+ megapixel files that it saves the final product in less than 1 mega pixel. I think I should save it in the highest resolution allowable.
It does a good job on old Barack and white photos most of the time, but if I clean the photo up first with another one of my free software it does a much better job…colorizing does not always pick up correct colors, but looks good the majority of the time. A fund app to us, still thinking about buying Pro
FixMyPics has brought me to tears. Restoring my family’s history with color and clarity, I’m able to see 60 year old pictures in high definition as if I took them with my iPhone! A simple and beautiful way to connect past and present generations, plus I don’t have to spend $40 just to have one photo restored. This is amazing.
I used other apps and this works great!!! There was 1 photo of my grandma. This is a large family- and although we had photos of her very old. We located 1 picture from 1920 ripped and blurry. I’m so happy FixMyPics cleared up the photo😇😇🌈🦋🌸 I’m looking forward to sharing this new-updated version with all my cousins 😀
While there are others like this one, I enjoyed the five trial photos that FixMyPics gives users for free. After that I was convinced to purchase the full version. I now use it all the time to make fuzzy photos amazingly clear. I don’t know how it does it, but it seems to actually add information to a digital image that is lacking definition. The results are very satisfying most of the time.
I have only used FixMyPics in the free mode, but even without using any of the pro version I have been able to make a great improvement to an old black and white photo by colorizing, removing a large scratch, and recreating half of a face that had been destroyed by the scratch.
A lot of my friends have old photos they need fix for projects that I do for them. This has mad that possible. I watch the ads right now but I think I will try and get my wife to buy this for my birthday (it is today)!
I also like the ability to try out the premium features by watching the ads. This way you already know what you’re getting and the features you’re paying for.
FixMyPics is outstanding. I am constantly working on photos… I have boxes of family albums as well as projects on social media. FixMyPics is fabulous for creating detail in blurry old photos.
I have learned over time, when I try to bring a photo memory back to life, if I can’t make out great grandmas eyeballs at a glance, an AI app will struggle to give her the exact match and will have to make its best guess. With all of the photo apps I have tried, I have seen some hysterical photos when it was too difficult to find a good match, but for me, FixMyPics is at the top for getting the best matches.
I find editing your picture first to eliminate shadows and make it easier for FixMyPics to identify features really helps. I also will use a second editing app like Facetune to smooth out random features that are off.
FixMyPics is the easiest for restoring the most photos in a setting!
I am amazed at how well my antique photos are restored! The definition and clarity that goes beyond the camera’s capabilities that it was taken with. To actually see my great, great , great grandmothers every facial feature clearly enough to sketch. As an artist it opens up a world of new possibilities. Thank you
This does the work of what a person can do in a fraction of the time, cheaper, and a lot better result. Scary too, because people who do that for a living will be jobless when people can use an app/program to replace the human doing it.
I like FixMyPics. It is easy to use. I don’t have the pro version. I watch an ad but the quality of all my pictures have come out way better than my expectations. Worth the download.
I tried the trail loved it! I don’t really want to pay for the full version since I won’t be using it all the time. They have a feature where you can still use some of the features for free just by watching an ad. Works great pictures get cleaned up
