As mentioned in my previous review, at the bottom, I was going to try out using an Alexa routine to control my air conditioner. IT WORKS! The only issue I had is with fan speed on cool. It insists on using Auto. From what I can tell this could allow more timing options as well. It sees it as a thermostat so keep that in mind. ββββββββββββββββββββββββββββββββββββ Since the update my air conditioner schedules no longer work. Yes, WiFi is connected as I can use Frigidaire to manipulate my choices. However, the scheduler is not connecting to the unit β¦ no on, no off and obviously no settings. I have unplugged the unit, I even redid the schedules still no interaction. I deleted and reinstalled Frigidaire β¦ nada. It was working perfectly before the update. This is a 1 year old top of the line air conditioner. I have gone online to try to get some help from FAQ's but it is a maze of all different appliances to sift through. Having just gotten out of surgery it's just too much for me right now. Now I have to remember to turn on my unit which is not why I invested in this model. ββββββββββββββββββββββββββββββββββββ BTW, not everyone knows your acronyms. What is a PNC? ββββββββββββββββββββββββββββββββββββ Ironically, It looks like Alexa can do what your own app task scheduler can't with a routine. We'll see. If it can, and Frigidaire can otherwise communicate with the air conditioner, you've got an app problem.
1. This has disconnected consistently since day one. Sadly rubbish coding. From update to update, regular errors in Frigidaire .
2. You are required to register, which also has its flaws. You canβt just connect your βsmartβ device to Frigidaire . Not only do you have to re-register it every time it updates, the system itself fails at registering regularly.
3. It has stopped supporting certain βsmartβ devices. I purchase the smart Air Conditioner unit fully due to the βsmartβ capabilities, so that I could cool my place before arriving home. this app has chosen to stop supporting their own devices in the new update, so now my βsmartβ AC operates the same as it would have if Iβd bought it in 1994, defeating the entire purpose of my purchase.
4. Customer support is astonishing. Donβt even try to contact this company. They donβt even deserve a single star. When Frigidaire fails to register your device, it automatically instructs you to click a button to call support and gives you a reference number. When you call support they say βthatβs not part of what we doβ. It seems two different companies are managing Frigidaire side and the physical product side and are totally unrelated - hence the lack of reliability/stability.
The biggest thumbs down. π
I have been trying, unsuccessfully, for more than a year to get Frigidaire to work. Iβve followed all of the troubleshooting steps and sat on hold for more time than I want to remember wasting trying to connect with an agent to help. The original app actually worked and we were forced to switch to a new app that doesnβt appear capable of connecting to our air conditioner. Having an app that works is the main reason we chose the this app air conditioner over other trusted brands. Itβs frustrating because all worked fine until someone got the idea that having a functional app needed to be changed to one that doesnβt.
Frigidaire forces location usage as a hard requirement to control your air conditioner. You do not need my precise geolocation to connect to a WiFi router, you're selling this information to marketers. Nope. Already don't trust it.
They disclose in the data privacy policy how they use "non-precise" geolocation info (they provide it to vaguely defined "service providers") yet Frigidaire totally forces PRECISE location to move forward, so it may as well fall under the even vaguer "Other Similar Network Activity information" further down, which they do sell directly to advertisers. That can and will ruin your life with robocallers and random identity theft, because who really knows who this app does business with? Avoid!
It's been a while since I've used Frigidaire so I had to redownload it to my new iPhone 16 Pro. This necessitated signing in again but I can't even complete the first step of choosing my location because no list of countries, states or whatever they need populates. I typed United States... nothing, U.S... nothing. All I see is a white screen and for that reason can go no further in Frigidaire .
Frigidaire used to be buggy and not super user friendly but would at least control my air conditioner which is why I chose this app to begin with. Now I have a useless app and an a/c unit with useless wireless capabilities. The manual control work but aren't easy to set because so much is info on the settings is viewed through Frigidaire .
Dissapointing.
I have had my window air conditioner for the last couple summers and Wi-Fi has never been an issue with the former this app 2.0 app. Like many others I was recently notified that Frigidaire has been replaced by this one, however, upon downloading I am able to connect to my Wi-Fi but never able to work to get this to work. as I live alone and have a pet at home having remote features is very important to me and one of the major selling points for my air conditioner unit. I recently discovered that the this app 2.0 app is still functioning and is able to connect me and give me the remote functions that I need. Hopefully that app continues to run while this buggy mess is figured out.
I buy 2 wifi app enabled FGRC model ACs and keep it in top shape and working and now all of a sudden the reason for me buying it originally I can no longer use? Seriously this app never buying anything from you ever again and I hope new customers take note that this company expects you to buy new AC units every few years even if the older unit is working perfectly if you want to keep using Frigidaire feature!! Youβve taken something that was flawed but usable and just say βnopeβ to having an app now for all the customers who pretty much beta tested your first wifi enabled devices? I hope youβre proud now that I have to keep my AC unit on 24/7 when I leave the house instead of why I bought your units for to begin with which was the ability to turn them on 30mins or more before I got home, saving energy which your company supposedly cares so much about.
I had the previous version of Frigidaire and it worked flawlessly with my this app air conditioner. Since the upgrade, I cannot get it to work. I go through all the steps over and over and over again and it tells me that Iβm connected and then tries to register my appliance ,which by the way is already registered, and says that I canβt do it and it kicks me out and makes me do it all over again. The whole idea of Frigidaire, for me, was that when I was coming home from work I could turn on my air conditioner before I arrive so that my apartment in New York City wasnβt sweltering. Well, those days of being able to do that seem to be long gone. At this point, Iβm just resolved to the fact that Frigidaire isnβt going to work for me any longer. The reason why I bought this particular air conditioning unit was because it was Wi-Fi enabled, so much for that functionality.
I was forced to download Frigidaire from this app 2.0 (which I NEVER had issues with) and Frigidaire never works for me. First I couldnβt sign in because it couldnβt find my account with my email address. So I tried to create an account with that same email address only for it to tell me thereβs already an account associated with it. Password reset. Email came in. Reset my password. Tried to sign in and kept getting the βSomething went wrong. Donβt worry, weβre working on it.β message. Finally let me sign in just for it to say the same thing and not let me add my air conditioner to my account. Deleted and redownloaded Frigidaire to see if itβll work. And then I couldnβt sign in because it canβt find the account. Went to create a new account (with the aforementioned email address) and I just keep getting the βSomething went wrong. Donβt worry, weβre working on it.β message again. Please fix this issue. I never had this problem with this app 2.0, which I now canβt even use anymore. Donβt force customers to download your βnewer and betterβ app when it isnβt even working?
Frigidaire worked well last year. It lost connection to my window air conditioner at some point since then. Now, even though the ac unit shows the non-blinking wifi light when itβs restarted, in trying to go through the steps to add a new device, I get to the end of set-up mode where it says just one more step: name the device, then I get an error message that it canβt register the name. Iβve tried all sorts of names to see if thatβs the issue, but no luck. The ac unit works great, but the reason I bought it was so I could control it remotely when the cats walk on it and change the settings or turn it off. The old app was clunky, but it worked. This one, not so much.
About 2 weeks ago the ac stopped turning on based on the task. It had been working fine for weeks before that. I reset the unit by pressing wifi button for 10 seconds, unplugging it, waiting 30 seconds, plugging it back in, clicking the reset button for 15 seconds then set the task time to turn on but it would not turn on when the time was reached. I am able to see the ac in Frigidaire and turn it on manually via Frigidaire . It just seems to ignore the task. Also after turning unit off and on and leaving app, whenI go back in it says βUnavailableβ. Once I reset it, It lets me see unit again.
This seems so obvious to me, yet Frigidaire just gets more and more cumbersome. I wanted to turn my AC on High, Cool and 60 degrees. This is probably the most common setting for an air conditioner when first turned on. I counted the number of clicks needed to do that. 22! Twenty two! One to open app. One to click on the air conditioner I want. One to click Turn On. One to click Mode. One to click Cool. One to click to close the menu. One to click Fan Speed. One to click High. One to click to close the menu. One to click and drag the screen up so I can get to the temperature. 12 more clicks to get the temperature down from 72 to 60. 22 clicks! Here's an idea. Either just a Max Cool button or implement some custom buttons that I can assign settings to, or make your app one screen with four horizontal rows. First row has three buttons: Fan, Evo, Cool. Second row has four buttons: Low, Med, High, Auto. Third row has a horizontal that lets you slide to the temperature you want. Last row has two buttons: Submit, Off. That's it! That's all you need! Four clicks and you're done.
This new app does not seem to let me create a task to turn the AC off at a certain time, without also setting a βstartβ time. I like to leave my AC on before going to sleep and set it to turn off after an hour or two, which I used to do with the old app since start and stop were independent tasks.
With this new app, I try to set a time for it to turn off, but I canβt create that task without also selecting a time for it to turn on, which I do not want since I do that manually depending on the day. Itβs a little ridiculous that there isnβt just a standard timer button.
Frigidaire is pretty good. Before I bought my AC unit I wanted to make sure it could do everything from my phone. Coming home from a long day at work to a nice and cold house is fantastic. Especially on a HOT day. Both the AC and Frigidaire works very nicely together. Being able to turn off the unit and back on, setting the temperature and also getting notifications when to clean the air filter is awesome.
Only thing I wish Frigidaire could do is have a Schedule Manager, so I could have the unit turn on same time everyday. I know GE units have that feature within Frigidaire I hope we can get an update with some new extra features.
The Ac is working good Frigidaire is ok but, my best experience with the customer service person name Cathy she goes above and beyond and when I say above and beyond I really mean it. I am not a tech person so, I could not get the AC to connect for nothing. So I got Cathy and she call me just to see if I get the AC connected ask me to sent pictures of what I am getting and I mean days after I have called with the problem. Then from the pictures and videos she were able to tell me what I was doing wrong and finally have my AC connected and running smoothly. Cathy I lift my hat to you and I really do appreciate your help and support.
I tried to update my this app mobile app & was unable to do do! I got an error message stating that my model AC wasnβt compatible with the updated app! I call customer service & was told the same thing! Iβve had my Frigidare Air Conditioner since 2018 β¦ since I only use it in the summertime thatβs not long! I live in NYC & we are mostly pedestrians, so it was wonderful to start my AC on my way home , after walking from a hot subway station & hot city street into my kool apt! But with out the Remote mobile app, I have to wait will I come home to start my AC or run up my energy bill by leaving the AC on while Iβm not home!!! I am VERY disappointed!!! Iβll never purchase anything this app again !
I like Frigidaire my only major issue with Frigidaire is the fact that when my air conditioner tells me that the filter needs to be cleaned and reset if I try to reset the filter via Frigidaire it doesnβt reset the filter on the air conditioner until the light stays lit telling me I need to reset the filter the other issue I have is that Frigidaire sometimes quits working and says refresh and then when I refresh it just sits there and does nothing otherwise canβt complain
Iβve honestly have been enjoying Frigidaire WAY more than the this app 2.0 app. I can somewhat understand others reviews, for example, the sub menus that pop up to change fan speeds or cooling options for my AC unit. However, other than that Frigidaire has been a lot more reliable for me so far and feels like a smoother experience. I think they did a great job developing Frigidaire. For those who donβt feel the same way, voice your suggestions and opinions, because the developers seem more than willing to fix issues or implement critiques from their users/customers based off of their replies to bad reviews.
This is our second season with the this app room air conditioner. We have found the unit to be reliable always putting out the air as we are requesting and it is a well built machine and is able to deliver nice volumes of air for our great room.
Especially convenient. Is the ability to start and stop the air conditioner remotely. I have used this feature many times!bf
Love the convenience of Frigidaire, it allows us to remotely turn on the AC in an area we only use in the evenings. We're able to turn it on an hour in advance as opposed to letting it run all day or suffering through the first hour while we wait for it to cool. The only thing that would make it better is customized notifications like when the unit is turned on/off, filter cleaning needed, settings above or below a selected range. Overall, very happy with Frigidaire and AC.
