Crashes

Why does AFApp crash every time I try to hit my profile in the upper right hand?

By

Good for Starting Out!

It is a good app for when you are starting your fitness journey and want a easy to follow plan.

I have used plans before, and wanted to try out AFApp. The downsides, the plans are extremely repetitive. When I started my plan, I expected much more variety. The plan I used had 3 days of full body workouts, that were exactly the same each time. I find that kind of disappointing. We have a lot of different lifting equipment at my gym and I expected to use some of it.

I also wish it would auto fill the weights last used for the exercises.

Can’t sign up for group training.

For more than six months, I have not been able to sign up for the group training classes that are in addition to my membership. I pay extra for these classes. I have reached out to tech-support numerous times and have spent several hours troubleshooting and trying to get this resolved. I shouldn’t have to do that as I am the paying customer. No one seems to know what the issue is. instead of using AFApp I am forced to reach out to the individual coaches to sign up for classes. There are other members at the gym that are having the same experience.

Missing features

App is missing features/UX from the old app such as history for the current exercise easily visible, ability to add/delete sets from an exercise, no ability to add notes to a set. App likes to skip ahead to the next workouts when you complete a set in the middle of an exercise. No ability to modify what equipment is available at your gym. Some exercises increment by 0.5 instead of 5lbs for no reason. Doesn’t track how long you took per set

By

Really Frustrating

Very poor workout tracker. It’s useful for building a workout plan, however AFApp has zero ability to run in the background and cancels any workout progress if anything happens while your using it.

For example, during a 40 min workout, with 5 min warm up 30 mins of cardio, and 5 mins of cooldown AFApp sropped recording and canceled all workout progress when … i got a phone call, I swiped down to adjust screen briteness, I switched apps momentarily to change a song on a playlist.

The worst part is that it not only stops recording for these events, when you hit “Resume” upon returning, it starts the countdown clock on your current phase back at the beginning. In my case resetting multiple times back to 30 mins whenever AFApp lost focus.

So, decent planner, but useless as a tracker until this gets fixed.

A special retreat facility

Even when life overloads your plate, Anytime Fitness has an open door friendly policy to help you work on reducing the overburden and anxiety life challenges you during the day. The staff and members at the Ballenger Creek facility ensure all members experience this wonderful feeling each and every day.

Worth a download!

This is a great app. As someone who doesn’t work out often, I enjoy the suggestions of how to reach your fitness goals based off where you like to work out and what equipment you enjoy using!

By

Missing Considerations

AFApp looks awesome and building the workout plans is great. However, AFApp does not take into account other issues. It doesn’t ask if there are any limitations such as artificial joints which may preclude doing higher impact exercises or kneeling. Would be good to have alternative exercises to accommodate these conditions.

By

Could be better

I like that it is able to design workouts for you, but I miss the ability to create your own workout like with the older app. You can’t even import workouts designed by your coach at your local gym. It also stops tracking workouts if you leave AFApp or your phone locks, so it’s pretty useless for tracking your workout. Definitely needs some improvements.

Wish I could give more stars

The changes have been amazing
It’s not dark anymore like a cave
It feels very welcoming, and I love working with Tristan. He is an excellent trainer. Can’t say enough good things about the changes. Well done

By

Coache

I just had a training session with Joseph and I learned how to use the equipment that is best for my needs. I would recommend him as a personal trainer for anyone of any age. I am in my sixties and am thrilled that I know how workout properly. Thank You, Kelly Ann 111

Lost my workout plan

I did 2 workouts on AFApp. When I showed up for the 3rd one, all of my progress had been erased and no workouts will load. Trash.

By

App closes and the jumps workouts. Overall a good training tool when functions work.

Same as above.

By

Seems ok

Great for tracking visits to the gym and if you want to follow a pre-set plan but there’s no way to add your own workout in to AFApp if you do something else. It would also be helpful if you could exclude certain exercises based on muscle group for those of us with mobility or medical considerations.

By

Open all the time

Customer service has gotten 100% better since geo started working there. The only reason why I’m giving them 3 stars only is because they need to add better and more equipment and classes.

By

Decent

AFApp is decent, I like that it will make a plan for you…however, I wanted to make my own plan. Other downfall, my AnytimeFitness is the smallest one known to man, at least three of the excersizes in the tailored plan my location doesn’t even have the equipment for.

By

Good but could be better

Overall app is good but the inability to change exercises to better suit your needs and the inability to have timers continue when you are out of AFApp kind of ruin it.
Trackers and recommendations for your fitness plan are excellent

By

Have to enter height and weight

I find it ridiculous that you can’t even get into AFApp without entering your weight and height. I just wanted to see the exercises and gym check ins and schedule - these have nothing to do with my height and weight. Haven’t we gotten past these archaic restrictions that have nothing to do with athletic ability or current level of fitness?

By

Place and app

Very easy app to use…it’s very helpful just like at the facility as well very helpful friendly..would recommend

By

Where are the workouts?

The old app let me browse and find the workout I wanted to do each day. Now I’m limited to the ones the algorithm decides. I want to browse freely.

AFApp is harder to use. Seeing history on a specific exercise used to take a lot less clicks. I don’t have time to invest on clicking through this new app all day.

By

Beefy

AFApp is way more than you’d expect from a gym app. Easy to use, connects to watch and has tools to get great results!

By

Very good but bugs and features needed

The workouts AFApp gives are very good but there seems to be a bug when marking a set done, instead of doing the rest timer for that workout it jumps to the next workout, so your constantly having to jump back to what you were working on.
Features needed:
1-audio for the rest timer, it only vibrates and you can’t always feel it or see the countdown.
2-apple watch app, goes with #1, would be easy to track rest times and log reps and weight with one.

By

Could be more…

I really like AFApp and it has everything that you would want it to do. However I still don’t understand why is the Apple Wallet feature not utilized. The key fob has the NFC already, I just think it’s a missed opportunity and it’s inconvenient if you don’t have your keys but would still like to go to the gym.

By

Too much in the way of membership tools

While I’m sure the info is great for those looking for it, having to go through a dozen questions to get an update on the crowds at my local gym is silly.

Since there’s already a different app for membership, either put all the club info there or make the courses a tab in one app or the other. I don’t think my height helps tell me if my membership is paid up.

By

Poor features, lots of room for improvements

AFApp is glitchy. Tap the screen while working out and it stops and restarts the timer. Other times it will just mark it as completed and move to the next exercise. There are nutritional info segments which seem informative, but the links to the source articles either don’t exist or are broken.

When revising consider making the timer larger and not reset when hit. Why is it not always a pause?

If you want to adjust weights on exercises, you can’t type it in you must press a plus or minus button to change in half pound increments. So you get to stop your workout to tap 40 times to add 20 pounds.

These are rookie mistakes.

By

Not intuitive

It took me a couple of times of using AFApp to figure out how to even track and start the workout my trainer wrote for me. Then I couldn’t find out how much weight I used the week before without scrolling back in the calendar and reopening the previous workout. That should be easier to find. It also doesn’t track personal bests. I wish I could see the most I’ve ever lifted for a particular lift and total volume.

By

Needs to be updated

Chat doesn’t seem to work for me. My coach sees my messages on app but only replies via email for some reason and I don’t like that. Needs to be fixed. Also, booking fitness consultation section doesn’t work either on app. Please fix, thank you.

Old app had more options

I miss the functionality the old app provided allowing me to enter the weight used for each set and the ability to add sets, made it easier to track my workouts and what weight I was using last.

By

From pretty great to terrible

The old app was great and I used it all the time. One complaint was the lack of the ability to have AFApp generate custom plan based on equipment available and time.

When the new app included this feature I was excited. Unfortunately they broke nearly everything that made the previous app great. It doesn’t show previous weight or reps for that exercise so you just have to either remember or guess. AFApp auto moves you to a new exercise after each set, making you manually go back if you are not doing a circuit. Entering weight used or reps is not automatic and a pain to enter each time.

I have been asked multiple times to provided feedback and have for over 6 months, but nothing has changed.

I still used the old app and will continue to do so until they fix this or the old one become impossible to use.

Work out with trainer

Sarah she really showed me what I needed to do and what I needed to start out on a job and never been to any places like this before in my life

Helpful when starting out, but lacks longevity features

AFApp is useful, but needs work.

Pros:
The short show-me-how videos are very helpful on workouts you may not know how to do.

It’s great for providing tips and goals

It shows an estimate of how many people are at your home workout location

Cons:

App does not save settings for workouts done previously.

App does not automatically increase difficulty I.E. reps or weight based on your workout feedback.

Suggestion: if you log a workout as “too easy” AFApp should increase your weight and/or reps on the next one.

App does not allow you to substitute in or edit a workout, does not allow you to edit your workout routine other than a few suggestions.

I would have loved to put in my elliptical-only workout but it did not give me that option

By

Better than expected!

Not only does it design your workout, it also has video of each movement, has a timer for each movement and lets you record the weight you used. Definitely excited to keep using this one!!!

Beginners: good; advanced: mediocre

Let me start by saying AFApp has a ton of potential. The design of AFApp is fantastic. The user interface and layout is intuitive and enjoyable. The gym workouts layered in have a broad range of difficulty (toughness of workout) and complexity (types of exercises), and the new connection with Apple fitness is a great dynamic. Where AFApp falls short is: A) AFApp has no functionality for someone to either create their own workout nor add exercises to an existing workout in the event a user does more than what’s spelled out in AFApp . B) AFApp doesn’t communicate at all with existing anytime fitness app: Workouts. If the plan is to entirely replace that, then the functionality of “A)” above is needed. Without either A or B, AFApp repeatedly tells users you have tasks due and you’re not completing your workout plan. Lastly, C) there is no functionality to search out a workout. At best, you have to navigate through the recommended workout, to alternative workouts, and scroll until there’s something better fitting your intention that day. It needs some improvement, but as I said, I have high hopes and look forward to its growth!

Glitches with adding data with each workouts.

Inputting Elliptical, cycle, or rowing is not easily able to acces of calculate nor is logging the other additional lift, core, kettlebell or other modalkies, AFApp could use some better Options/ability to track progressions/regressions, and other workouts, it’s very limited and one dimensional in that regard.

By

Excellent update

Completely rewritten with a modern design language shows the care put into it. I love how easy it is to use the Access Pass to enter gyms without having to carry my physical key fob. Great job and keep it up!

By

Great ideas, poor execution and functionality

Let me start by saying that I’m a huge fan of the old anytime fitness workouts app.
Bring back the option to select your own workout from a list, it’s ridiculous that this was taken away.

Likes:
The quality of the workouts are great.
Appreciate the one stop shop of all of my membership needs and workouts.

Dislikes:
Why would the workout demonstration visual default to video? This makes AFApp run poorly.
I can’t access or pick a quick workout anymore - this can disincentivize people from getting in a workout when convenient.
The old analog version of the workouts app was TOP TIER for usability to enter what you need. It was so convenient that it felt like writing in my workout stats on paper. The way to enter information and ‘complete’ my workout added at least 5 minutes to my time at the gym, and to be clear I do not like that at all.

What I would like changed:
Change the workout visual default to a picture like the old app.
Add a ‘simplify’ option for input, I don’t want complexity when inputting my stats.
Add a library of pre-fab workouts. Even if it’s just the PDFs from the old app - perfect.

I love the app

In my opinion, AFApp is very helpful! I’m happy I downloaded it and gave it a try. I’m not a beginner, but I consider myself an intermediate gym goer. I started using AFApp to plan my workouts. I love the mini videos and the coaches advice. I would love to see a few suggested small quick meals. That would be a bonus.

By

Needs more variety

I agree wholeheartedly with a previous reviewer who said the workouts are too repetitive. Although there are two or three options per workout they don’t seem to change. It would be great if AFApp created a variation once I’ve done the whole workout once or twice. And yes, it should keep a record of the weights used so I can measure progress.

It would be fantastic if AFApp could detect the equipment in my Anytime studio (come on - it’s all Bluetooth!) and put together workouts using the available machines.

Great app for seeing busy times

I use AFApp only for knowing how many people are there and how many times I’ve gone. It even tracks when your away at different locations.
