I like the system and the way it looks but Petlibro leaves a lot to be desired. Why can’t I clear notifications so that every time I log in I don’t see the red dots from alerts that are from April and May. Calibrating seems to be working better and now shows 100% when I clean it and fill it up but unless I go into every notification to clear the red dot (and there are 100s over the course of a month), then it continues to show an “alert” with a red dot. You should be able to delete them or mark them all at once as viewed. I don’t need to keep notifications from May. Once they work on Petlibro more and get it up to speed with typical apps, it will be a great product but now it’s just gimmicky and not that useful. I’ve also considered getting the feeder but it requires a separate app. Why can’t all products be integrated in one app? Until that happens, I’m not going to spend a bunch of money of the feeder.
Please read before considering this product. Petlibro is slick and well visually designed but functionally like missing key offerings like sharing the device with other people, giving modals to update firmware every time I go to feed and then firmware fails every time to update, if it gets disconnected from Wi-Fi the only fix I found was resetting the device, unbinding it from my account and app, deleting Petlibro , reinstalling Petlibro and setting up Wi-Fi within 20 inches of the router and my phone… after going through all the steps in Petlibro … which worked but then I had to unplug and bring it back to where I used to have it and was working fine and now cannot connect to Wi-Fi.
This is shoddy work, buggy, deceiving. Unreliable. There are other feeders like the one I replaced with this that provide solid functionality, are reliable and do the basic things expected from both the product and Petlibro . I should never have replaced what I had in the first place but these look so good. Don’t be fooled with appearances.
I’ve had nothing but issues with Petlibro and device and if you go into on social (like Reddit), check out what people are saying.
Can I give Petlibro NEGATIVE STARS. Every single notification is wrong. It is literally a worthless piece of junk.
- Many words are misspelled and many notifications are not correctly formatted in sentence structure for English. - Need ability to name each device so that the user can determine which water fountain is being used, etc when more than one is owned. - need ability to add the number of pets using the water fountain so that notifications and actual usage can be tracked more efficiently. - editing review to reduce rating to one star. The notifications about how much water the pet is drinking are HIGHLY inaccurate. I put cameras on both water fountains and even when the pets were not drinking any water at all, I was continuously receiving alerts that they were drinking water. Nothing touched the fountains, yet I was still receiving alerts that 2-30ml were being consumed at a time, that water has been refill when it hasn’t been touched and that the tank is separated from the base or empty…again none of these are accurate as I have a camera on both fountains.
Yes, Petlibro technically has all the features you need, but I find it hard to navigate around Petlibro —too many clicks to navigate to a feature and/or I get lost. Additionally, the amount of promotional spam is absurd. Every time I use Petlibro , I get spammy product marketing—“turn on cloud storage”, “buy this” from us, “buy that” from us, etc, etc. It makes me want to toss the feeder and get a more basic one. I would suggest this app invest in an information architecture redesign to make it easier to navigate Petlibro , and reduce the amount of product marketing in Petlibro . Ideally, the product marketing would even be centralized to one surface in Petlibro rather than popping up left and right as I am trying to complete a task.
I have ordered 4 devices total. 2 automatic feeders and 2 water fountains. Everything works great on 3 of the devices. But one of the feeders has had issues since day one. I have messaged them and filed multiple support tickets. The video cloud which is $119 hasn’t been recording for months and there is no phone number to call for help and it takes them approximately 1-3 days to respond to messages which makes it EXTREMELY hard to get tech support. They even offered me a refund or exchange finally after begging for one for months. I said yes please 🙏 I just want a refund. They said NO that tech support fixed it virtually. I sent more screenshots showing NO it’s still broken and not working same as before. I have asked for a manager they won’t give me one. I am so frustrated this company has the worst customer service that I have ever encountered with any company ever!!!!!
Please please please don’t buy from this company unless you are prepared if you receive a defective product that you will not get a refund and you will go through all kinds of hoops with NO resolution.
THEY REFUSE TO GIVE ME A REFUND! After offering me a refund they said NO!!! I can not make this up. I’m in complete shock at how terrible this company is.
Old feeder cannot be paired to new App. New water foundation cannot be paired to old App. I highly suggest to fire your product tean leader due to this guy has no brain and doesn't know how to keep customer. Guess if I will choose this app when I buy my next pet auto device?
This is what I got from cs, 15% discount, rofl
However, upgrading to the new app requires updating the feeder's hardware and chip, making it impossible to maintain compatibility with older models. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause but assure you that we will not discontinue the this app Lite app and will continue to maintain it for our existing customers.
We have the upgraded WIFI feeder base (without camera) that works with the this app. The camera feeder that works with the new app is available on our website now. If you decide to upgrade your feeder and prefer using the this app app, we would be happy to offer you a 15% discount.
I bought the this app granary feeder last year and it’s supposed to be one of the supported models for Petlibro, but apparently my serial number is not supported by Petlibro, which makes no sense why there even needs to be two apps. My feeder is less than a year old and I’m being told I need to pay $40 to physically replace the base to get the new chipset in order to use the new app? That feels very wasteful and is a terrible customer experience, especially as a water fountain user. I really like the products, but the choice to randomly select a group of users that are firewalled off from the new experience because we bought the right pet feeder, but got shipped the older chipset seems like a really poor business strategy to keep customers on-term.
My cat loves wet food and does not like dry food and just has dry food when there is no other option. But she has a tendency to overeat if given a lot at once, so I used to keep giving her canned food after couple of hours while keeping the leftover in refrigerator. I love that now I don’t have to keep on running to and fro from refrigerator to her food bowl whenever she is hungry and can simply start feeding her by keeping her whole day meal divided in the bowl and monitor. This allows me to monitor her meal and not overfeed her. But the meal plan schedule in Petlibro lacks that multiple feed from the same bowl cannot be planned which is what I require when I go for 2 - 3 day trip. That will allow her not to overeat once and vomit. I hope they provide this update soon.
I cannot speak much to the connectivity issues that other people have, however, it is very tedious to have to repeatedly login when I switch between my tablet and my phone when using Petlibro. If I log into one, then I am forced off the other.
Edited to respond to developer feedback: I’m well aware that I can share the feeder with five accounts, but that means that for my own phone and tablet, I need to make two separate accounts, send myself a share request, and then be added to Petlibro , talking up a share slot. Nearly every other app besides a water drinking tracking app allows me to log in to one account across multiple devices without being logged out of the first device in order to sign in to the second device. It’s really tedious only being connected in one device at a time.
First off the fountain itself is great… I love not having to deal with a wire while cleaning and refilling it. Petlibro was easy to install and connect to the device. My issue with it is that it registered my cat drinking two times while I was just filling it up. Literally my cat hadn’t even discovered the fountain yet and no water should have been used. I figured maybe me working with it triggered the detection mechanism somehow…. My hope is that from here on the cats intake will be more accurately measured now that I’m done filling it. There’s no way to delete the false readings which would have been nice. My fear is that anyone walking by the fountain will trigger the sensor. I plan to set a camera on it to verify how accurate the logs are and will revise this review based on that data.
Petlibro is great for the feeder.
It has a camera, microphone, the microphone is clear. The camera is clear.
HOWEVER, I feel the motions notification is excessive. You should be able to not have more than one motion or even sound motivation within the same hour. It has that setting, but for me, it did not work.
The camera is a little glitchy. I am able to see for about 5 seconds, then it turns off again.
The microphone is great. It’s clear, and works.
Now, my least favorite part. The stupid notifications center. It takes me 2 times to delete everything. I click “select all” and it selects 20, and I click “delete” and it asks if I’m sure I want to delete. I confirm, and then those 20 notifications that were selected are still there. I know this because there is a total at the top of the screen, and that number does not change. I do this process a second time, and it works. It drives me crazy that it doesn’t delete them on the first try.
I bought the Granary Feeder with the Camera in January and it has worked really well for the first few months. Yes the ad pop up is annoying but whatever. It’s a free app.
We went on a 10 day vacation and were able to log in and see our kitties from far away and it was great!
About 2 weeks ago the firmware updated and apparently it turned off the Repeat on my cat feeder schedule. My cats missed a feeding time but they made sure I knew it didn’t dispense on schedule. (Not Petlibro ). I tried going to support through the link in Petlibro Store, but the chat bot was not helpful at all and wouldn’t provide prompts that were related to my problem and I couldn’t type my own question. Today, I was going through all the settings again and finally noticed the repeat settings turned off.
Now that I know to check that I can keep an eye on it. The feeder and all work fine outside this one hiccup. But I do hope they improve that in future firmware releases.
I have a few Pet Libro products, so Petlibro is a great fit for me. It helps manage my multiple-cat/roommate household and busy schedule effectively. However, there's one issue that many owners, including myself, face: the portion measurements. Petlibro uses portions, but finding the right amount in grams or ounces online to match these portions can be confusing. It would be a lot better and being up Petlibro a few levels if they had a built-in database where you could input your cat’s age and breed, and it would suggest the appropriate amount to feed. This feature would save users from unnecessary and confusing math.
I am using two feeders for my two cats, one this app Granary feeder per cat to ensure each is fed the correct amount, as the dual tray option doesn't allocate equal amounts to each tray. While the feeders are great for precise portion control and scheduling, I was disappointed to find that there’s no option to synchronize schedules between multiple feeders under the same Wi-Fi network and app.
If you’re using more than one feeder, there should be a way to duplicate or copy schedules from one feeder to another directly in Petlibro . Alternatively, a universal control option to manage both feeders for synchronized transactions would make this a much smoother experience. Manually setting schedules for each device is time-consuming and increases the risk of errors.
The feeder itself works reliably, but this missing feature limits the convenience for multi-pet households. this app should consider adding this functionality in future updates. It would make a good product great!
Would still recommend for its individual feeder capabilities but hope to see improvements for multi-feeder management soon.
Or I hope you can find a way to make dual-tray option delivers equal amount of food.
I use the polar wet food feeder. Love the device and how the manufacturer is still trying to improve Petlibro . A lot of useful updates have been made since i started using. Wanting to mention a few things that i like to improve here hopefully can be looked at
- The polar wet food has 3 slots and if i want my pet to eat 2 times a day, the automatic schedule doesn't work well as it always skip to the next day after the 3rd slot has completed the following day. Can we have option to set schedule every 12 hours (or every xx hours) so this can be resolved?
- This is specific to the polar but the sound to call pet to come to eat is very unnoticeable and my pets a lot of time don't hear it. I have other this app device where the sound is very customizable. Hoping this can be updated.
My older cat was losing a lot of weight because our younger cat that we’d gotten recently was eating all her food and I was starting to consider those chip feeders but I just never liked them that much and they seemed like a lot. I found this app and I got the feeder that opens only to a specific tag and she’s now back to a healthy weight and able to eat all her food!!
Literally saved her life, not to mention Petlibro is so easy to navigate and control the feeder. Since I’ve gotten the feeder we’re considering getting a second one for the younger cat and we’ve gotten the water fountain too.
I'm surprised by all of the negative reviews. I was hesitant to use Petlibro at first, but it has worked for me without a single issue! Initial setup/ calibration was easy, and it's been running for a week without giving any inaccurate information (I work from home, so I see when my cat takes a drink, then wait for the notification to ping). Of course, the amounts could be off- I'd have no way of knowing if they were, but based on the time my cat spends at the fountain, and comparing day-to-day totals, it seems right. I'm very pleased with Petlibro!
I’m really impressed with this app. I own both a dry feeder and a wet food feeder. The dry feeder is the best dry feeder I’ve tried. This is the 2nd wet feeder I’ve tried and much better than the other brand. This one isn’t perfect, but I have been super impressed with how the company responds to product feedback. I almost returned it because it only stayed open for an hour and my cat eats slowly. 4 days later they came out with an update for it to stay open longer and I kept it to see how it did, and now she finishes her food! I feel confident that this company is taking feedback into their product Design and will continue to use them and keep an eye out for new features and new products!
I love Petlibro because my cat lives at my dad’s house and I am not there most of the time, so I love being able to see her on the feeder camera. The feeder has also helped her lose weight and regulate her feeding! It is hard for my family to feed her in small amounts and not two big meals (small amounts are better for cats) and the feeder has really helped with that. I love how it notifies you when food is low, when there is movement, and when you need a new descant bag.
One thing I wish it had was the ability for the people it is shared to to go back and see what was recorded. We got a sd card so that we can record her and go back and see the video, but the only person who is able to do that is the original person on the feeder and not the people who the feeder is shared to.
I’ve noticed a lot of negative comments about the device(s) but most of them seem like personal negatives and don’t really have anything to do with the actual device and application— is it a nuisance to have two different apps yes but it’s not the end of the world I have used the Lite for my feeder and Petlibro for dockstream have no issues with either application— setting up a schedule and viewing camera is a hit— notifications are spot on— recently had one issue with connectivity but sent an email to support and they fixed the system error right away— totally recommend applications and devices from this company— especially if you are someone who is on the road alot or works away from home extra security to make sure your cat is fed and have plenty of water
