Take your money away from Truist and run away from it

The story is too long to go into completely. Just know this, this bank is a thief! I had an incorrect charge to my account that took my balance below zero. I called Truist to let them know that there was an issue with the charge. They offered NO help or protections of my money. They told me to deal with the merchant who charged me incorrectly. Zero assistance.

It took me 2 weeks to have the merchant refund my account which should have bought my account back to a positive balance.

During the 3 weeks in total that this issue was occurring Truist stole $252 in over draft fees from my account. They were charging me for over drafts caused by the over draft fees and incorrect charge from the account.

When I called to complain, they offered no help! They said they will TRY to get me a refund on 2 or 3 of the over draft fees. But would have to get back to me!

I asked them to stop paying out charges on my account to avoid more over draft fees. They said they couldn’t do that.

I ask them to close my account, and they couldn’t do that over the phone. They told me, during the middle of a global Covid pandemic, I HAVE TO go into a branch and meet with a rep in person to cancel my account.

Now in order to stop the never ending loop of $36 fees, I have to risk my health and physically go into a branch to cancel my account!!! And I am out what will be more than $300 in bank fees.

Take whatever money you have in this bank and RUN to another bank. Bank of America has dropped their over draft fees down from $36 to $5 and offer protection from incorrect charges, because they care about their customers and aren’t a bunch thieves.
