The required recurring subscription plans are difficult to cancel. If you simply cancel in advance as with other plans, they cut all access to your plan immediately. If the charge comes in your card there are no refunds si make sure this plan is 100% what you want. They charged over $100 to renew the subscription then cut my access when I asked to cancel the future recurring charges, so now I get 0 access for $110!
As for the plan, I did not lose weight on the plan, it was very time consuming to plan for meals. If you want to change a meal plan (there are different options) any changes happen immediately and erase the one your planned for this week, so you either wait to get your shopping list until the day of, or start over with the current plan. I would spend at least a. Hour a week simply selecting g the meals or ingredients for my chosen plan, I do not personally have that much time to dedicate to the selection of “personalized pre planned meals.” As for the personalized part, I did not see any personalization evidence. Foods I am allergic to were recommended in my plans regularly . Buyer beware, I was very excited to find this, now I simply feel taken advantage of by a mediocre company.
My fault for not writing down the date that I started the subscription- sure, but this company sends you not even ONE reminder that a payment is about to be due!!! The second it charged my account, I reached out to cancel and it was thrown in my face that “the terms and conditions state 48 hour notice of cancellation” which would’ve been provided easily, had there been ANY kind of indication that a payment was about to process. Instead of a refund, I got offered a measly $20 back out of $75 (which they try to make sound higher by offering you 25% back) and pocket the rest while this is the ONLY option they give you to cancel your account and subscription. There isn’t even anywhere in BeyondBody that keeps track of your subscription or lets you know what day you signed up for it!! So unless you’re super on top of it, don’t recommend if you just intend on trialing it. Be sure to cancel immediately or lose $75.
Feedback: make a way for your PAYING customers to keep track of their subscription information and remind them a payment is approaching like every other subscription service out there.
Partially my own fault because I failed to write down the date I initially signed up for this 3 month subscription but everything else I’ve ever signed up for has sent a “hey we’re charging you on this date next week” or similar email…NOTHING from beyond body. I thought I had two days left when I saw the charge hit my account and immediately emailed customer support to see if they could reverse it and cut my subscription…after a day they got back to me and said the best they could do is give me back half the charge since I agreed to their terms or whatever. Fine, shame on me for not reading the fine print and writing down the date I subscribed, I guess, but I’m still chasing them down for some kind of response after another day and a half past agreeing to the partial refund. Honestly at this point I’m just so irritated by the whole thing that if the charge hadn’t thrown my account into a negative, I would say screw it and not bother…which is honestly probably what they’re banking on; people forgetting, and then being charged and only offered a partial refund, and then maybe not paying attention for the follow up and confirmation of the refund. The whole thing is just so sketchy it negates any positive feedback I might’ve had. I’ll lose the weight without the overly-complicated meals and gross, unskippable snacks.
There’s so many issues with BeyondBody , that it makes attempts at using the program too frustrating. The starting weight you input consistently changes, making tracking your goals impossible since every time you “reset” the old program information is also reset. The grocery list function has been not working, and I don’t want to manually click through every meal to try and determine the list. As other reviews have mentioned, there needs to be a way to bulk edit a preference for an ingredient. For example, I only want to use oat milk but I have to change all meals from coconut/soy/rice to then generate the grocery list (if it worked).
Also, I am seeing major inconsistencies with the food locals and the measured size of ingredients when I input into a meal tracking app like CarbManager. This causes me to frequently need to skip meals/snacks on the program to stay within the correct caloric deficit and feel like then what’s the point of the program?
Many features don’t save correctly either; daily weight for example never saves as done even when inputting weight. I also dislike that BeyondBody doesn’t sync to other apps for steps, calorie tracking, exercise and I have to manually input these all the use BeyondBody that doesn’t save or remain consistent. Extremely disappointed.
I’m so disappointed. I thought this could be great, but it appears as though not much thought went into BeyondBody . So many issues, but they’re not bugs, the functionality simply isn’t there. First, there’s no way to undo anything. If you accidentally tap “done” on a meal, it’s gone. No going back. If I want to add a workout outside of their workout, I can’t. For example, I went on a Peloton ride—how do I track that? I can’t. The shopping list is such a great feature in theory, but sadly that too doesn’t work. It added “Chickenham” to my list. No clue what that is and I don’t see it anywhere on my meal plan. It also missed several key ingredients completely so now I’m headed to the store again. The portions are terribly off. For example, it had me cook a full cup of rice (the measurement was “dry”) which makes enough for several people. Yet it had me only use 2oz of a zucchini. So now I have rice that could feed a family and a few pieces of zucchini. It just doesn’t add up. So much is wrong. BeyondBody has been a waste of time and money.
The ads are very good at hiding that this company charges for everything. So when you pay for the membership, you get charged the membership, and then they include hidden fees in that membership that total up to $60 a month on top of the monthly fees. I canceled my account on their application which no where on BeyondBody does it say to contact the company before doing so, and then contacted their live support for my refund of the monthly membership. All within 15 minutes of eachother I had gotten a $33 membership, pressed skip on the extra membership items to see what BeyondBody included, saw it was way less than weight watchers, deleted the account because it was faulty and misleading from the ad, and then contacted live support for a refund.
I got a Julie Mae L. Who kept telling me that because my account was deleted by me with no notice from them to contact them, they couldn’t refund my money. Even though they had my account in their bank system and my name. I will be going to small claims through them.
I haven’t been able to get my account to work. It’s been a week- customer service gives me the response of we will fix it. I asked for my money back and they say I can only get 50% based on terms and conditions. Which isn’t right if they fail to deliver a product but I have asked for that 3 times and have not received any money yet. Please please please do not pay this company. You will regret it. I see I have a note from the developer. I contacted customer support. Repeatedly. I finally got 50% of my money back. Never could access BeyondBody . So I paid for nothing! I lost money trying to get an account. Complete waste of time and nothing but a “try to log in again” and “reset your password” from customer service. Which didn’t work. My favorite reply was after they refunded 50%. They said I could continue to use BeyondBody - you know the one I couldn’t access ever.
Also I did contact customer service - multiple times- and they were unable to help. The answer was reset your password- which I did and it didn’t work.
When I first launched BeyondBody , I thought it was really great. Now that I’ve used it for a few days, I’m deeply annoyed at how poorly it actually works. For my dinner tonight, I can’t accurately log what I ate because BeyondBody will not save the changes I made (a meal it suggested as a substitute). For an app that is so accurate in its nutritional calculations that it has you weighing oil instead of measuring it, this is a huge flaw that really defeats the purpose of having BeyondBody . I paid $54 for a 3 month sub and I won’t be reviewing. I’ll use the book and MyFitnessPal.
***UPDATE: Contacted support about not being able to log changed meals and was told to uninstall and reinstall BeyondBody , then change my meal plan. This completely erased todays logged food and gave me completely new options for meals going forward… this means that I now have to scroll through over a hundred pages in the PDF book to find the recipes I bought groceries for for several recipes. It also means that the meal plan in BeyondBody no longer matches the meal plan in the book that’s yet to arrive. What’s the point of using both if they contain different plans? I don’t know, the CS agent didn’t answer that.
I went through answering all the questions and decided to do the ebook and BeyondBody …well they made it seem like I was agreeing to a 12 month plan at a certain “discounted” price per month and even when I went to PayPal it showed as a subscription agreement. I did not see anywhere on there that said that I was going to be paying nearly $100 right now until I got a PayPal notification with the amount as I was still being asked to spend more money with the company for all these other extras.
I sent an email to customer service saying that it seemed like they were tricking customers since it wasn’t clear that they were making you pay everything up front. The response I got was “that’s how much BeyondBody is and it shows the full price at the bottom.” Well I went back through the process just so I could see how I could have missed it since I’m very vigilant about how much money I’m spending on things but this time I wasn’t even offered a choice about BeyondBody only the hard covered book or the ebook….it just seems very suspicious to me and I wish that I had looked at this before I went through with it. So, buyer beware!
Please don’t waste your money or energy. I tried in 2022 to do this program. Paid for it and was excited to try. I waited on the book to start as it’s easier for me with a hard copy (and I was not in a big hurry to change my habits). After a few weeks I called customer support and they said it should be arriving soon! Never got it. They refunded me the cost of the book but not the subscription as they said “I could have been using it”. Okay my fault.
Now today I gave in and decided to try again. I saw they had an ebook so fantastic I can print it and start my new journey. But wait . . . They were able to process the charge but not able to link it to my email as it was used for a prior subscription. I was on live chat and email for more than 2 hours to fix the issue.
After the third person could not help me (and yes I did everything they asked) she said sorry for the frustration and she would refund me half of my payment and I could use BeyondBody for the next three months as I paid for six.
Explaining once again I can not log into BeyondBody without getting an error message about my subscription that was cancelled in 2022. Now customer support said “they will make an exception” and refund the entire amount and I should be getting it back within 14 days. So I’m confused, making an exception would indicate that this was my fault?
So again don’t waste your money or time, as they are not supportive of your journey as they claim to be.
I really expected more for the price. After the quiz (where I clearly stated I do not eat meat) and gave some info on what I wanted to get out of a workout, I waited EXACTLY 24 hours to the minute for an e-book. The pdf is formatted odd for me, but maybe that is an ebook setting I need to work out. The book says I have a BMI of 6.3 and 6.8 body fat. If that was the case, I would need a coroner not a diet plan. I have no idea if the “personalization” is based on this or if the “personalization” is putting your name on the cover.
BeyondBody is wild. With all the tech available we can only sync steps with apple health. The meal plans are random and do not match what was in the book. I tried to refresh it and it gave me, a vegetarian, all meat options. Randomly my goal weight was listed as 30 pounds. Why this is possible I cannot fathom.
I expected with the exercise related questions in the quiz that exercise would be included with the purchase but NOPE I had to pay an additional $5 for that.
I’ve already contacted customer support and got the “we will look into it” email but at day 2 it is so far useless.
I really liked the workout aspect of BeyondBody/plan, however I wish you could include workouts you do on your own to the data (climbing, swimming, hiking, biking, etc.)
The water tracker is nice but I would have preferred being able to put in my own amounts instead of being restricted to cups or bottles.
I’m not into meal planning in general so I was hoping for an alternative to input your own food intake as well but that wasn’t an option.
The sleep tracker ultimately caused me to cancel. I input the wrong time and then when I attempted to adjust it added more time and I was not able to reset from there. I then also looked for reset overall and that was also not available, you can only reset your meal plan and cancel your workout regimen.
Overall just expected more for the cost and feel I could find a free or cheaper app that does more and better. The in-your-face-everywhere-all-the-time marketing got me and I’m disappointed. There really should be a trial period/sample option if the brand believes in its product.
I like BeyondBody but there are a lot of cons. I like the food combos I’m given when I choose the meal plan, however my food swaps are very limited…in fact it’s the same 3 choices for dinner over and over again. When I switch to ingredient based plan the food is just different and not as yummy. Also, the swaps are too similar to even be considered a swap(which is just like the book). Luckily, I’m no fool and know how to easily make substitutions. Also, the shopping list for a week’s worth of food has over 100 items. Come on now, let’s get real. There is not enough repetition to be frugal. Finally, the cost of BeyondBody is very expensive!!! The money I’m paying for the 3 months I signed up for really should be a yearly rate. I didn’t opt for workouts too because $$$$ With such an automated product, you really should consider lowering the cost. You might attract more business that way. I’d ask for a refund, but they don’t offer any and I didn’t get a free trial option when I signed up, so I’m stuck.
The meals have potential. I just wish I could substitute ingredients better. One meal will have one type of flour or grain and the meal the next day will have a different type of flour or grain and you can’t match them up for easier/ less expensive shopping because the substitution isn’t listed. So then my tracking isn’t accurate. I also would like to do the same meal (of the few I liked) multiple times in a week, (meal prep is life for a busy soccer mom) but that’s not an option either. When I asked about being able to swap meals (their own recipes) they said it wasn’t an option and to just skip the meal in BeyondBody . But again, that means it’s not tracking accurately and that’s really the entire point of BeyondBody .
I also don’t remember seeing anywhere in the add that the exercises would be an extra cost to the subscription.
The free version of my fitness pal tracks meals way better and you can do any substitutions you want. Fit girls 28 day meal plan is also better because they have better alternatives to the meals in my opinion.
I downloaded BeyondBody because I liked the idea of a personalized book and a personalized app. I would suggest the free version of MyFitnessPal over BeyondBody. It’s food tracking is unimpressive. Like other reviews mentioned, you have to choose one of three options for each meal and you can’t modify them or eat something different. Also, please be aware that when you are going through the steps to purchase BeyondBody it looks like fitness is included — it is not.
Within minutes after purchasing BeyondBody and ebook I realized I made a mistake. I contacted customer service and told them I was unhappy with BeyondBody and that I didn’t want the book (that was not yet sent to me) and they said that the best they could do is offer me 50% off.
Don’t waste your money. Everything about this screams scam. When you check out there are 5 extra pop ups prompting you to purchase more. And after clicking on the ad they give you 15 minutes to make a purchase or else you lose the “special offer” they created for you.
I gave a 3 star because I also am experiencing many of the same issues as others have reported. I just did the refresh/update and still having same issues. Can’t change the meal if I don’t like it, so shopping list isn’t accurate and daily intake isn’t accurate. It just says error or just doesn’t change it at all. Getting menu items I don’t like such as tofu. Updated my menu plan again today and we will see if it’s changed any of these things. Some of the meals are pretty time consuming to prepare even though I said in my questionnaire that I have limited amount of time to meal prep.
I’m only a couple weeks into the program, so I’m going to keep going and see if these things get fixed. Other than that I am enjoying BeyondBody . The exercise programs are good. The concepts are great, if it can just work properly.
I would give a 4/5 star if BeyondBody features worked properly and the menu plans were accurate to my preferences or could be changed out.
I liked BeyondBody starting out although I started experiencing issues right away. The meals are decent, though can take significant time for some items. I connected BeyondBody to my smart watch/health app so it could track my calories burned. But it’s barely tracking anything. I will do a full workout and my smart watch will say I’ve burned 600 calories, BeyondBody will say I’ve only burned like 4 calories.
When creating the meal plan you are able to put in items you don’t like so they will exclude them from meals, however when I pull up the meals, it will have the very ingredient’s I asked it to exclude. And some of them will have option that are the same (ex, ingredient is tofu. Options are firm tofu or soft tofu. Not helpful if you don’t like/allergic to tofu).
I tried to recreate the meal plan to see if I could get better options and when I did so, it gave me a lot of the same dishes, but then BeyondBody started marking some meals as skipped or done so it already applied them to my daily eating diary. I contacted the help desk and their only suggestion was update my phone and then delete and reinstall BeyondBody . It didn’t fix the problem. It just became annoying to use with all the issues so I deleted after a little over a month of fighting with BeyondBody .
I tried Beyond Body for a few months. It was ok, but I primarily wanted it for healthy recipes which wasn’t that helpful in my case. The format is good, but I expected it to take into account my meal preferences. For example… all of the questions I answered about what foods I liked and which ones weren’t an option didn’t seem to affect the recipes it gave me. It does offer alternative ingredients, and that’s nice and sometimes useful. Unfortunately, sometimes the recipes called for things that I couldn’t eat! There just weren’t enough recipes that worked for me.
It also is tough to grocery shop because the list is written as if you can just buy exactly what you need vs in reality you generally have to buy things as they are packaged and work from that. This means you end up having a lot of left over ingredients which can easily go to waste and be expensive if you aren’t careful.
I was hoping for healthy eating inspiration, but there just weren’t enough options to justify paying for it.
I’ve been using BeyondBody for several weeks now. At first the shopping list didn’t work, but that has since been updated and now works. While there are several things I wish BeyondBody would do that it doesn’t, my main issues are the fact that data changes without prompting. My weight keeps reverting back to my original starting point, so I have to keep changing it back. And the ingredient amounts keep changing from grams to cups and back again, without any rhyme or reason. I have a scale, so this isn’t a huge issue, just irritating. I was also disappointed to see that my book and app include items I absolutely checked “no” to while filling out my info (either for health, allergy, or taste reasons), so sometimes I feel like this program isn’t as personalized as I was made to believe. All in all, this program has helped me and I do enjoy the convenience of BeyondBody , so hopefully they will get the little things fixed so it becomes more of a consistent tool and not one I have to keep closing and restarting to get to work.
Recently started using BeyondBody and have been experiencing glitches from the first day. The substitution options mostly don’t work. When you select the alternative you want and hit “Change this meal,” an “Oops! Try again” error invariably pops up. I’ve tried everything from turning my phone off and on again, double checking that my iphone has the latest update, to deleting and reinstalling BeyondBody , all to no avail. I can still view the alternative meal description and use it, but then the shopping list can’t be tailored to the actual meals I’ve chosen. Having an auto-generated shopping list for me is key to being able to stick to a plan, so this issue is a biggie for me.
I also tried making some changes to my meal preferences and when it regenerated my plan, it still used foods I had excluded, so it seems you’re stuck with the preferences chosen in the initial quiz.
Hopefully these glitches get fixed soon, but if they don’t this may be a deal breaker for me. It’s a shame, bc the service itself is amazing.
The pros: easy water tracking, tasty and varied meals right to your specifications, ability to favorite meals and sub one meal for another, nice charts of goals.
The cons: meal prep/cook time estimates are ridiculously off. How can a 20 minute recipe’s first step be “cook the dry wild rice for 45 minutes”? I’m starving here on a diet and want to know when I can eat! Also, as others said, I need a more full calendar from which to select my shopping list. This week and next week doesn’t cut it if on the last day of a week, I need to shop for two week’s worth of meals. And finally, the menu rest is a big pain. After a month, BeyondBody wants you to take the quiz again and regenerate the menu- the problem being I can’t choose a day in the future on which to start the new menu while keeping my current menu. This happened to me one evening after dinner and a grocery shop for the next week worth of planned meals. I lost everything I had planned with no warning that was going to happen.
Despite allll the cons, I use BeyondBody a lot but it seems it could easily be made better.
I gave this a 3 star because I really do think there could be improvement. When making the shopping list there isn’t a lot of combining recipes. Another thing that is an issue is some things are not included into the items required list but then is in the recipe. For example today I made a steak and rice dish that the only ingredients listed were steak, bell pepper, olive oil, wild rice, and black sesame seeds but when I got to the instructions it stated to also add garlic, ginger, and soy sauce. I had soy sauce and garlic already at home but I didn’t have ginger so this is really annoying to me. Also I know they are trying to be as accurate as possible with measurements which I appreciate but I wish the unit process was better. Like I had a recipe that asked for a bagel and instead of saying 1 bagel it said the amount in grams. I don’t have a scale yet I just ordered one so it makes it hard to order ahead of time because I’m not carrying around a scale everywhere I go and it makes it hard to get meat since it’s all measured in the stores by the pound. Another thing is there are certain things I just don’t eat. Such as Greek yogurt and in 3 days so far they have had yogurt as a snack and I can’t change it. So instead I have to skip it and I can’t edit my preferences after I created my account.
I have been waiting until I got my book in to start anything since I wanted to be able to enjoy the full program instead of trying to understand it from just BeyondBody , which doesn’t make a lot of sense. BeyondBody looks to be just a basic tracking program. I finally got my book and first thing I noticed was it lists me as “rectangle” body shape instead of “hourglass” as I submitted on the questionnaire. Can’t help but feel that I have wasted money on yet another “personalized” plan that is nothing more than a cookie cutter program. Next are meal plans that contain tofu and mushrooms which are two things I requested none of. So, I find myself doubting the program before I ever start. Not the way to build confidence in a diet program for someone that has tried everything and failed already. Now I will have to wait until I can get in a good headspace before I even give this a go. Waste of subscription time and a big chunk of money.
I have been using Beyond Body for about 3-4 weeks. I say 3-4 as 1 week I was traveling for work and, obviously, didn’t cook at the hotel. If I go out or make something for a special occasion, I can’t add what I actually ate… even if it isn’t on the plan. It would be helpful to be able to do that.
If I change a meal for another option the data isn’t reflected in the shopping list. I am also making the dinners for 4-6 people as I am not making 2 meals for my whole family. We all eat the same thing for dinner. It would be helpful to have the shopping list reflect that as an option/meal. Currently, I add everything to a spreadsheet and place my grocery order based on that taking 4 or more hours.
Lastly, I have been surprised at how good some of these meals are and I am losing weight and feeling better! I do not like that the ingredients are so varied that I’ve doubled my grocery spending to almost $300/week or more. That is not reasonable for me. I don’t need to buy a whole thing of almond milk or coconut milk for 1 or 2 meals, then see it wasted as I didn’t touch it again. My refrigerator isn’t big enough for the 6 types of milk, 5 berries, 3 different lettuces, 3 onion types, not to mention 7 oils, etc etc etc. I love that everything is varied, but some things could be consistent to save the customer $ and frustration.
