LOVE the app, Missing something…

First of all, I love SkillYoga . I love the variety of programs and the simple and straightforward shooting style. Out of all the yoga apps I looked into, this is the one that I decided to subscribe to (and I’m glad I did). One feature SkillYoga is missing, for subscribers, is a plan. You have “programs,” but the most videos in a program is 7 (from what I’ve seen so far). That’s great, but what do I do after week 1? What’s my next step? I can browse the library, but I think for most people, they need the next step ready to go before their current plan dries up. Should I repeat the same program? Should I try a new one? For me, that uncertainty causes me to lose motivation. The biggest way I stay motivated for working out is having a plan and staying consistent with that plan. What I would love to see is some sort of AI looking at my goals, feedback from workouts, etc., and telling me what my monthly schedule is, so that I know, “Okay, I have four yoga workouts planned for this week, and I can see what they are, and I even know what I’m doing next week, and the week after, and the week after.” Something that takes the great workouts you’ve already developed and maps them to my schedule, and continuously keeps them coming. Other than that, I think SkillYoga is great overall and I’m a happy customer!

Great yoga workouts I’ve lost 55 llbs while using this app!

I was looking for a home workout and couldn’t be happier with this yoga program, the instruction is very calm and instructive and the instructor in the videos demonstrates most things really well there are some limitations, but let’s me honest a video workout is always gonna have a few drawbacks but this series is about as good as it gets. The real selling point is if you like me don’t love the yoga instruction that’s all breathy and talking about “envisioning yourself on a island” then SkillYoga is for you. The instruction focuses you on your breath and the feeling of stress/stretch on your muscles

The workouts scale well and once you get more advanced you’ll see how the basics build into more advanced movements and I’ve found myself surprised I can do some advanced movements with ease. The only other nit picks I’ve found is the ratings for the workouts leave a little to be desired and I get when a trainer counts down then makes you do a couple extra reps but when your watching the same videos on repeat and you know it’s coming it just gets hung up in my brain that it’s coming and makes me so mad for some reason. Obviously those are some pretty specific nitpicks and I’ve lost about 55llbs in the last year so can’t argue with the results!

First Yoga Routine, and I really like it

To be honest/fair, it’s hard for me to put a rating because this is my first time doing Yoga consistently and I have nothing to compare this format to. However, from my few tries I’ve found the sessions to be challenging (which is great) on my mobility and core, well guided, and with a really appreciated array of options to progress in either Mobility, Strength, or Mindfulness-focused sessions or yoga tracks.

Personally I’d love to improve first my mobility, then my core, even though they’re both getting worked together.

I’d love to see what effect this has on my posture, my weightlifting legwork (particularly squats), and my surfing. Kudos to the developers and the rest of the Skill Yoga Team, great product 👏🏼

Enjoying the app

I’m 29 and have been lifting for the last eleven years. For the past few years I’ve been starting to feel more stiff and ache after a hard training day. I decided to get into yoga to help with this issue. I first started with yoga studio and enjoyed it. From there I wanted something that could also help build some strength and found SkillYoga. I’ve had it for three weeks and have really enjoyed it. I have found that my hips, wrists, lower back, and shoulders have felt better from doing this three times a week. I would recommend SkillYoga for anyone who has similar issues and would like something to prevent injury as well as maintaining/gaining strength.

I guess not for beginners

I have done yoga for a few years on and off so I really wanted an app that would help me devote to my yoga journey, so I decided to try this one out. As I started to use it I really enjoyed it but then realized that they only have 5 beginner videos in the beginners program. Once I finished the beginners program SkillYoga prompted me to repeat it. The videos were good, but how can I progress in my yoga journey if I can only practice with those 5 videos and every program after this has a functionality level of advanced and expert. Not even intermediate classes. Don’t really understand how this would work but I guess it’s not meant for beginners? Or really not sure what to make of this. I really wanted to like SkillYoga, but don’t feel like I can progress properly by repeating the same 5 beginner classes and then suddenly jump to an advanced class.

A great App!

I was skeptical about doing Yoga via an app. At my age (63 when I started) and never having done any yoga before I was very leery about starting. What makes SkillYoga so great is that you can take your time, stop and even repeat the lesson(s) as often as you like. I really appreciate the assessments and the support. This can be a life changing app if you are will to put in the work and the time. I highly recommend this to anyone who has been on the fence about yoga and its benefits. I have been working with this for a nearly a year and see improvements in my strength, flexibility and especially my balance!

First time trying yoga

I’ve never taken a yoga class before. After the gyms closed due to the Covid virus, I decided to give SkillYoga a try. I am so glad I did. I completed the beginner portion and am redoing it now and it’s gotten quite easier. I hadn’t realized how stiff I was until I started doing the yoga program. My posture has improved as well as my ankle and shoulder mobility (I couldn’t move either much without dull pain). I can’t wait to continue progressing and hopefully when the gyms reopen, I’ll see better ROM with my lifts.

Great Routine Builder, Needs More Content

I started using Skill Yoga as a way to get back into yoga and build on my existing (but rusty) practice. The structure of the “programs” really helps you keep a routine and learn new skills. SkillYoga gives really clear instructions and cues to help deepen your practice. When a started a few months back I couldn’t do a thirty second crow pose but now I can do it with ease. I’m currently working on my side crow pose and making steady improvement. I do find that app is lacking variety/classes so I don’t think I’ll go pass my three months. If there were more classes/programs I think I would continue with my subscription.

Challenging in all the right ways...

I love SkillYoga. I find it to be very challenging, even in the beginner sequences, I can’t even imagine what intermediate and advanced will be like.

I’d recommend SkillYoga to anyone. It is light on spirituality (more zen than namaste), short on duration (classes average 30 minutes) and high on intensity (I workout a fair bit and still feel challenged by the condensed courses).

It is perfect for me and perfect at its price point compared to the competitors and I look forward to more content by this group.

Best so far!

There are some great yoga teachers out there — for instance I started with “Yoga with Adrienne,” and then found Sean Vigue. I love them both, for different reasons, and I still consider them part of my suite of teachers. But Skill Yoga is a perfect program, tailored to my needs (I’m a 59-year-old beginner), that moves at the right pace, challenges me without killing me, and, while I love Sean and Adrienne, Skill Yoga kindly leaves most of the “personality” behind, so that I can focus on the training repeatedly every day. Love it!

Great start!

Really love these yoga sessions. Good mix of skills mobility and flexibility. Gave it 4 stars because you can tell SkillYoga is new and it isn’t quite as customizable as you might like. Only 30 minute workouts so it’s best used as a supplement to other athletic training, not a replacement. Still I’ve moved through a bunch of different programs and it’s helped a lot with my overall health, especially now with less to do during quarantine.

Perfect!

I love being able to choose the goal I desire based upon the day I’m having and my mood. I do a lot of strength training in the gym so sometimes I’m just looking to relax, while other times I’m really focused on mobility. It’s nice avoiding some of the more intense strength building poses since I’m already fatigued. I highly recommend SkillYoga to everyone regardless of background and physical ability.

Huge, huge, fan!

I had never really done yoga before and decided to try SkillYoga while stuck at home during Covid. I consider myself athletic but not very flexible, so flexibility was something that I wanted to improve.

I was also looking for an app that would help slowly introduce me to Yoga and all of the many techniques and poses, while also improving my strength and mobility.

I’ve been doing the “beginner” videos for the past few weeks and I couldn’t be happier with SkillYoga. I always feel so good, rested, and sore (in a good way!) after each session. The sessions are perfect and just challenging enough to keep me on my toes (literally).

I’m looking forward to my continued progress using SkillYoga.

Amazing performance results

My swim speeds have improved dramatically in one month. The only thing that has changed is that I now do Skill Yoga. I think the flexibility and mobility has improved my swim reach, catch, rotation and breathing. I can't think what else could have produced such extreme improvement in so short of time since Yoga is the only thing I've changed in my training.

Pretty good so far

To be honest I had SkillYoga for a while but I didn’t used it untill I started to have pain in my back and I saw they have a free routine for that and I loved it ! It has some routines for free that are more than enough for the basics and maybe go a little farther ! Now I’m trying to at least used SkillYoga 3 times a week and I just love it

What I needed

This is exactly what I need. A yoga app that just gives me a routine to follow, and the classes aren’t too long. SkillYoga gives you a routine based on what you want and you just a have to follow it. Classes are like 25-30 mins. Perfect way to start the day!

It’s gotta a nice layout and UI too. Very sleek, the videos never lag, very solid app functionally and has great yoga content.

Unreliable

I would hope with an app with such a steep cost, (discounted to $42.../first year) you would get some level of reliability with SkillYoga . I used SkillYoga every for 2 weeks without issue. Now, I cannot load any videos or browse content. Just loading screens. I signed out and when I try to sign back in apparent I don’t have an account. If this was a free app, no sweat, it happens. But seriously if you are going to charge this much $$$, this is insanely unacceptable. Will probably go out of my way to recommend ppl do not get suckered into this like I did.

Complements my running 🏃‍♂️

Used SkillYoga for a few weeks now and I can totally see progress with my running. My legs are less stiff after a long run and my pace improved. I’m doing the yoga 3-4 times a week now and had prior 0 yoga experience. Amazing ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

NO DECENT SUPPORT

I did my subscription using my Face ID on my iPhone. Two days after, I tried to use SkillYoga on my iPad with the same Apple ID. SkillYoga keep asking for a password that doesn’t exist once I did my subscription using my Face ID. I tried the support but I were answered just once and with a bunch of questions and after I answered all questions I never hear back from SkillYoga support anymore. I just asked for a refund through Apple Store. I’m very disappointed because the classes are good but they are not prepared to deal with costumers.

Please change your copy about spirit animals

Love SkillYoga, it’s such a sleek way to practice yoga.

However your notifications often contain copy referring to spirit animals. “Want to meet your spirit animal? Sorry, it ran loose.” Perhaps consider copy that doesn’t make light of cultural traditions. At best it’s ignorant and at worst it’s cultural appropriation or new age homogenization of traditions. I personally do not have a stake in this and do not intend to speak for cultures that reference “spirit animals” but I think you can do better.

Great App! Very clear instructions

I just did my first workout on Skill Yoga, I like it so far. The instructions are very clear, which is always a struggle with yoga apps since there are so many intricacies to each pose. I’m looking forward to using SkillYoga more!

The exercises/poses are great and you can feel them working. My only concern is that sometimes the coaching and the model aren’t synced so you could be a beat behind but other than that, I think this is money well spent

Best Yoga App

Skill Yoga is incredible! It’s easy to follow along, it’s challenging, and it has a good variety of programming.

Maybe it’s me...

But the beginner level is pretty hard from the start. The assumption is that you are in descent enough shape to sustain your own body weight - for an extended period of time. No worries for me. Its a small loss and I will just contain doing easier courses off Gaia and YouTube. To build up strength. Funny thing is that I consider myself more active then most. This course shamed me pretty good.
