Notifications don’t lead to a story

Every once in a while I get a notification from the this app app that sounds interesting. I tap on the banner and it takes me to CNET , but the story that the notification refers to isn’t anywhere to be found. It has happened for as long as I can remember. Also, some of their own ads are ridiculously out of date. There’s still an add that’s titled “What’s coming with the iPhone 13?” or something like that. Hello? Anyone home? I also hate the way that they take the same story and give it a new title so that you’ll hopefully read it again and subject yourself to more ads. Some of the stories are interesting, and the deals occasionally yield a fortuitous purchase. That’s why I’m giving it 2 stars instead of one. I hope that they’ll read the reviews and actually do something about them. One can only hope.

Frustrating “Outdated” Message

In general I have always found this app to be a great news app. I have been a this app fan since before they even had an app. Before phones were even smart! So, it is with great dismay that I have to lower my rating to just 3 stars. Every time I open CNET for about a year now, it gives me a message that I’m using an outdated version of CNET that isn’t supported. My phone updates automatically & the version is up to date. Once I open CNET Store, The button for CNET says OPEN not UPDATE. I press it and it opens fine, but it is really frustrating that I need to open it through CNET Store every time. I have tried deleting and reinstalling, but it only lasts until the next update. Please fix this!!

More clickbait than tech

I used to really like CNET but somewhere along the way they forgot they were a technology site and became your centralized source for all things “stimulus”.

At one point 7 of the 10 of the articles articles you could swipe through at the top were all different slants on the latest - or the potential next - stimulus package. Maybe that’s how to fund a tech purchase but it’s not Tech.

Who knows? Maybe during the height of the pandemic and stimulus payouts they were seeing a huge bump in traffic from new users. Catering to them was short-sited because now those of us that used them for their core namesake mission are moving on. I hope they have another set of clickbait stories to replace the traffic. I guess it’s possible that C/Net Really meant Clickbait/Net and I just never realized.

To make matters worse they just released a required update that doesn’t work and won’t let you use CNET until you successfully update. So to recap… a tech site that doesn’t report on tech and broke their own app. Great.

Move along. There are so many other options for tech news. May as well use a site that actually gives tech news. If I want stimulus information, I’m not seeking it out from a tech news site.

Could be better

When CNET works, the articles are great to read and informative. But when it doesn’t, which lately it has not it becomes frustrating to navigate. Also, please update the videos to match the content of the articles directly. Often the videos within the articles are generic and don’t cover the content within the article. I rather read the article instead of clicking on a video and getting my hopes up only to find out that the video is generic and doesn’t cover anything to do with the article.

The best

Love this app I find their vast array of articles on all sorts of topics very refreshing. I trust the reviews. I appreciate their informative and truthful information on all things covid. I look forward to the special deals they call to my attention. I appreciate not being bombarded with negative stories and press. Good work!

Keeps getting worse…

Every update makes CNET worse and worse. Now every time I try to open it, it’s asks me to update to the new version. Do they test CNET updates before releasing? It’s ironic they have such a poor “tech” app when nearly their entire platform (reason for being) is based on reviewing technology I’m also fed up with the constant political articles. I use to go to this to escape politics… but it smacks me in the face nearly every time I look at. Very disappointing!!! I just have to erase CNET and get out of the habit of looking at it…

Spot On!

I always refer to CNET when looking into buying electronics and other miscellaneous items. I value the expert advice and recommendations. I also love scanning through the deals you all post. Thank you for all the items you review!

Great App Except the Updates?!

Overall I really enjoy this app. I find the articles informative, especially those about Facebook which I rarely use these days. My only issue is that the updates don’t appear in the AppStore. I could update 10 apps and two minutes later when I open this app it tells me it needs to be updated.
Huh? Why didn’t the update show up before?

The last time this happened I couldn’t get it to update when I opened it. Thankfully I was able to update it directly through the AppStore. However I then discovered that I had two different versions of this app.

Please resolve this matter so I am not forced to remove it altogether.

CNET is great

An awesome App, this app is the go to “guy” when being indecisive keeps us from making the choice as to which is better. this app has never let me down I always check this sight out for all their reviews and suggestions THANK YOU SO MUCH 🙏✝️🙏👍🏻

What happened to tech journalism?

Anyone else remember the golden age of this app with Brian Tang and Molly Wood reporting all the latest tech news? Yeah it’s been a while.

I’ve been a regular reader for years but the content is really suffering lately. A piece on inflation affecting the “dollar tag” of rent? Is that bad copy editing or was this written by a bot? Unfortunately 1/3 of all stories are thinly disguised ads, and another 1/3 appear recycled from other sources.

Great

the only thing is that i wish they update iphone content and other things as well.

Getting worse

The reasons to not use CNET keeps piling up. The latest is the constant referral back to CNET Store for an upgrade even though CNET was already upgraded and installed on my devices. To top things off, it seems as if any item you open comes with a video ad you can’t shut off. If this app doesn’t show a more user oriented approach, their app will be ancient history on all of my devices

This app is now unusable

this app app developers, what is your problem???!!! I receive emails from this app, but, every time I click on a link in one of them, I get a popup telling me to update CNET . Updating CNET and trying the link again produces the same result. This has been going on for weeks, and complaints from other users are ignored. I give up. I’m deleting CNET and unsubscribing from this app’s emails. Thanks for worse than nothing, this app.

Worlds buggiest App

I really like this app and their content; CNET however is a complete disaster. It keeps crashing, articles can often not be loaded and sometimes the entire content is not loading at all (internet connection works fine; only CNET doesn’t work).
Since I like this app I switched back to reading on their website, but it is simply not a great experience on a phone

Vaccine cards and Apple Wallet

We were excited to find an article that claimed it would guide us in adding our COVID-19 vaccine cards to our Apple Wallets. Alas, nowhere in the article were there actual how-to instructions. In addition, the article showed that our home state of Oregon has an app where we can add the card - but provided no link or even an app name. A half hour later… Lame.

Lost their way

This used to be a useful app, with insightful articles. Now it is just a buggy app that requests nonstop updates, and it still won’t work. And latest articles about stuff I don’t want to hear about. Sad when you see a group lose their way, right in front of your eyes. Guess they are trying to catch up with newsprint media on the coaster ride down.

Not sure how a tech site can be so bad at this

I enjoy the content normally, but this is a review of CNET . It’s so hard to use, non intuitive gestures, and for some dumb reason a video loads almost every time I click on an article and most of the time it’s not even related. I can see someone in a conference room saying “pivot to video!” If we click an article, just give us the article.

New app

I’m joining the crowd by asking: why new app instead of updating existing app. This is my go to for news and yet your communication skills seem to be a bit obscure.

By

“Products” Page! 😍😍😍😍

I love the many additional sections you all have done to the “Products” page.

app crashes constantly

CNET is glitchy and has always had crashing issues. The latest is as bad as ever. This is over several idevices over several years. Funny a company based on technology has such a terrible app. Also they liked being woke libtards under the trump presidency. We want tech news not your political opinions, you turds.

The new app screen still jumps around when ads change

The new app screen still jumps around when ads change, very annoying. Sloppy programming. How can you trust their reporting when they can’t get their app to work.

Worst upgrade

The new app upgrade is one if worst I’ve seen

Crashes

Will not work on my iPad Pro

CNET USE TO BE BETTER

this app use to be better. These days it seems to be nothing more than an advertising platform for Amazon. Also there are too many articles on subjects that have nothing to do with technology.
