Major Battery Drain

2022-05-23

If you’re going to use ProtectTexasTogether, Do not give it permission to use your location if you want your phone to keep a charge. I could not figure out why my new iPhone pro 12 was suddenly getting absurdly bad battery life. It was dead by lunch with minimal use. I was getting ready to make a warranty claim when I decided to check battery usage in preferences. ProtectTexasTogether was sucking battery like crazy. It was listed as using 60% of my battery. I deleted it, and battery problems disappeared instantly.

iOS 13

2022-06-24

I can’t use ProtectTexasTogether because it’s demanding me to update. I can’t update because I only have an iOS 12 so ProtectTexasTogether is basically closed off to me.

UTexas, Gmail Only

2022-07-25

Does not support all UTexas emails.

Can’t log in.

2022-08-26

Fatal flaw ... won’t recognize my EID. Might be good, but who knows?!

Ineffective Red Tape

2022-09-27

You are already required to sign up for PCT through UHS. There is no reason for ProtectTexasTogether to exist.

Cannot log in

2022-10-28

UTEID login comes up with “stale request” so I am unable to log in at all.

Face saving garbage

2022-11-29

Pathetic way for the school to save face when putting students at risk

Can’t even get it to log me in

2022-12-30

I can’t get past the login screen. Greets me with an error and no way to resolve it

Stale Request for Log-In

2023-01-31

I keep getting a stale request error message when I try to sign in with my UT EID. I can't even access ProtectTexasTogether .

Doesn’t work at all for me

2023-03-04

I just downloaded ProtectTexasTogether and every time I try to login I get a stale request error.

Vague log-in error

2023-04-02

When I try to sign in, I am returned to the initial screen and receive the message “There was an error processing your request”.

Broken

2023-05-04

ProtectTexasTogether is currently broken with a white screen of death after filling out a daily survey. There is no obvious way to report this to UT, so I hope this one star review helps them figure it out. iOS 13.6.1.

App does not work

2023-06-04

You cannot get passed log-in, after that a white screen shows up and the application does nothing. The only option is to click back and return to log-in page, terrible.

Not useful or effective

2023-07-06

1) ProtectTexasTogether does not support large text size on iPhones. When I don’t wear my glasses, it’s hard for me to read the normal font size on my phone, so I use the accessibility iPhone settings and make everything a larger font. This works fine in most apps, but it renders ProtectTexasTogether useless. The text gets bigger, but ProtectTexasTogether is not configured to support larger text, so important buttons like “yes” and “next page” get pushed off the screen. At a minimum, ProtectTexasTogether should revert all text to the normal size, so even if it’s small, ProtectTexasTogether is useable. However, to really improve ProtectTexasTogether , they should reconfigure the buttons and layout so everything stays on the screen.
2) I can’t add more than two classrooms, and I can’t figure out how to delete classrooms. This feature of ProtectTexasTogether is very important for co tract tracing, and it’s very hard to use right now. I’ve seen other reviews that say that their app crashed when they tried to add a third classroom, and mine doesn’t do that, but there isn’t anywhere to add/delete classrooms. Because I accidentally clicked two incorrect classrooms (oops), I cant actually check in to my real classroom when I go to my in-person class.
3) overall, ProtectTexasTogether just seems very basic and doing the absolute bare minimum (if that). It’s very hard to use, and have few resources or instructions.

Absolute Garbage

2023-08-06

ProtectTexasTogether is so slow and buggy it is so bad delete when done.

Multilingual support

2023-09-07

Great app, it supports Spanish! Helps support the university symptom tracking requirements without the stalker aspects of apps used at other universities.
