We are supposed to trust a company with investments that can run into the 6-7 figure amounts, and yet their app doesn’t offer faceID to log in? I also can’t paste in my password from my password manager, which makes having an extremely long and complex password (a good thing) a very hard thing to manage. It makes TheStandard useless. Combine that with the fact that they just bought my previous investment company, which had a better app with better security and it makes me nervous to be with this company. They don’t even offer security questions and answers on their main company website? Does this financial company not realize how exposed this leaves their members?
Hire some good devs and get this stuff secured up!
It says security updates were done with a new version 4 days ago, and that it needs to update. It won’t. Even when I uninstall and reinstall it the old version reloads again, and not the updated version. Now I won’t even use it because the updates are security updates. So clearly using the old version isn’t safe.
Half the time it doesn’t even let you sign in with your credentials, when it doesn’t, it cuts off the box for MFA, effectively making it impossible to sign in. If you do finally get signed in, it’s so clunky, but what should you expect when the website is similar.
I never write app reviews, but considering this is my closest link to the largest portion of my wealth, I thought it was worth sharing my thoughts.
The login situation is incredibly subpar. No keychain access or Face ID support, even though they have 2FA required (I actually like the 2FA). I just don’t want to have to manually enter what is a complex password to access my account.
I have tried multiple times to log on to my account via TheStandard and am not able to. I have no issues with my other banking and financial apps on my phone and I am able to get into my Standard account on my PC. When I inquired about the issue I get a not very helpful response to use my PC.
Horrible app — often does not work or allow you to login . They clearly invest no money into TheStandard or website… I only use it because my employer has their plan through the standard — going to ask them to switch plans because the service is horrible and the technology is dated. Avoid if possible!
My company just switched to The Standard last year and TheStandard is the pits!! Not up to date at all, frequently is not functioning correctly, I now can’t see anything in TheStandard because I can’t login the screen just keeps spinning! I’m in HR so we make the decisions on where we should go or if we should stay, I have nothing positive to say about TheStandard, The Standard MUST put $$ into this, we are in the technology age and we are trusting you with our funds, DO BETTER!!
TheStandard is simply not worth using when I have to manually type in my 30 character password each time I want to log in. No support for copy and pasting from a password manager either. If you manage to get into your account, you’ll find TheStandard is just a webview displaying their web experience- there’s no native app functionality. Poor experience all around.
While I can use my credentials to log in online, the same credentials continue to not work within The Standard’s app. App settings on this iPhone were checked as well; this is not a user problem.
This long-term deficiency does not instill confidence with an entity holding vested retirement funds.
Also, upon selecting ‘Contact Us’, you may only select limited, pre-selected responses when attempting to state this issue, and you may not actually contact anyone.
I am seriously considering moving my funds elsewhere, to an entity that has its professional face fully functional.
Seriously just skip TheStandard entirely and login on a desktop and save yourself the step of repeatedly attempting to log in on TheStandard only for it to never work. Had accounts with them for over a year and TheStandard never at any point worked well.
Getting a message saying TheStandard has logged me out ‘due to going idle after 7 minutes’ but it’s immediately after logging in (on the browser agreement screen). It forces logout so I can’t view or manage anything in my account.
So it looks like it’s been 2+ years since Face ID and remember login features have supposedly been worked on. Whatever. They could at least allow copy/paste of text into the password field so you don’t have to type it out every time you load TheStandard ! What a pain!
This is a jump to their website, it is not a conventional app. This is the cheap, half measure implementation of getting access to mobile devices. This is why there are no login options besides typing user name password. Make it a real app with iPhone/Android capable login options and I will re-rate it.
Great app but logging in is a pain. TheStandard is way behind the times when it comes to logging in. FaceID would be ideal but even remember me functionality would be better than nothing.
It’s discouraging to use TheStandard when you have to manually login each time.
I use other budgeting apps to try and monitor my activity daily and only check in on TheStandard occasionally.
Hi, fan of TheStandard , quick question though -
When are you guys going to incorporate a ‘remember me’ function so I do not have to manually log in every time? Also, can you guys add the Face ID function too, this would be really beneficial to people who check regularly.
I use TheStandard often. It does provide easy access to my information. But as noted in a review 3 years ago (!) Face ID would be an important and welcomed update.
User-friendly design with comprehensive features, clean and intuitive interface, reliable performance.
Super easy to navigate around and not a lot of steps to get to the things you want to accomplish on it!
Let me start by saying, I’m an App guy. I have been participating in my firm’s retirement plan for over 13 years. Over the years I have seen good and bad technology from retirement providers and let me say this is GOOD technology. Anything I want to do with my retirement plan I can do from my mobile app. I’m always on the go, so having a strong mobile app is import to me. Thank you Standard, keep it up!!
