Moving past the 3 gigabyte download, the $8 “donation” required to enter, the 3 lackluster outfit combinations everyone wears, Multiverse is beta at best. I just don’t get it. Burn night. Updated Multiverse as directed. Crashes every 3 mins. Each time you reopen you get dropped at the same location and have to backtrack to where you were. It’s like when you get killed in a bad 80’s video game and have to start over again. Super Mario anyone?

Good effort on the 3D world, but largely misses the fundamental burning man experience: individual expression, serendipitous interactions, gifting, etc. Sometimes copying the real thing doesn’t translate, which is the case here. A fully new experience would need to be thought of to make it worthwhile. Definitely not worth the $.

App crashes consistently on iPhone X running iOS 14.7.1. Tried closing all other apps, hard rebooting the device, making sure phone is fully charged, etc., but get the same results. Notice it crashes when user approaches anything with laser effects and/or sound stages. When not near lasers or sound stages, Multiverse works but overall performance is extremely laggy.

Wanted to check out virtual Burning Man. It’s $7.99 to get in, FYI. However, I keep getting a “Bag Load Error” every time I try and purchase a ticket. I’ve tried quitting Multiverse , restarting, and even a hard restart. Hope you have better luck than I. Miss you dusty people!

I see a bunch of art but the feature to invite friends to join you doesn’t work. It generates your unique ID to use to invite others but when they key in the numbers, it “became” their unique ID numbers. I had tried multiple times. Also left a message in the info chat group but nobody provided info to use.

3 devices, heard a sound come through once, couldn’t make it work again. No interactivity possible, the scheduled events like burn night showed no changes to environment. I feel totally bamboozled by the whole experince. Tried the other VR options, all buggy. Sadly this idea just isn’t a winner without much more QA.

Obviously not a replacement of the really thing, but as a way of feeling a bit of the BM experience it emulates it well. Volumes seem quiet, and chats are hit or miss. I was open for more of an open mic experience. But still great first attempt!

Loved this, great to visit the worlds of Burning Man. Multiverse works on my iPhone but is small so I use my iPad but after this update Multiverse loads the graphics appear and then it blacks out. I have a lot of memory and tried reload won't. Please fix!!!!

The microphone definitely is an issue. Sometimes it would work sometimes it wouldn’t sometimes you could hear people talking but they couldn’t hear you. It was pretty glitchy.

Really beautiful app and virtual social space for a chill crowd that circumvents many of the expectations of gamification. It was particularly spectacular when the giant space hosted multiple streams of different musicians in early September 2020.
I only gave it four stars because it causes my phone (iphone 11 Pro) to heat up, and also I can’t get the March 2021 event to run at all—Multiverse just crashes.

I miss the playa, and Multiverse brings a bit of the Burning Man magic at a time we need it most! Being part of Reverbia, and getting a chance to perform was really special! I’m not a gamer, so it took some time to understand how to use the hoverboard. Thanks for undertaking such an ambitious project.

Great start and lineups, but needs more people in the environment and better Avatar movement. High flying is a great hack that takes a while to figure out.

I miss going to the burn irl Multiverse is a nice way to get to see home ... I’m really glad someone has taken the time and effort to put this all together and I hope that it stays live and active long after the end of the season preferably indefinitely.. all that said more updates would be nice along with an iPhone Vr headset compatibility option like with the google cardboard or Vr empires headset and controller .... love Multiverse can’t wait to see what new improvements are in store.

Beautiful and so detailed, I am amazed this has been thrown together in the last few months. All the tech nerds came together and I thank them! I’ve chatted with people from all over the world using the mic. Exploring the playa feels as close as it could to reality. The graphics are stunning. Crashed a few times, but to be expected with something pushed out so fast. No instructions, but it is simple to figure out
by Garnettp4
Does take a little exploring but seems to getting cooler and cooler each day. Well done.

I popped in here last year on a quest and was amazed at the immersion. It triggered my burn state and I spent like 40-50 hours in there dancing.
by Theothernomad
Reality: sorry, you can’t come home this year
Burners: mmm, so your saying we gotta create home again - again! 🛸
All seriousness - what a ambitious demographic of earthlings burners are. Thank you 🙏🏽

I love Multiverse now that they added so much art (and the entire city) to it. The functionality is really good now! Beautiful work.

Anybody who would give this less than 5stars would also say that the bj they got from the blow up doll from the sex shop didn’t feel like the real thing.
by ConsciousHarmony
The microphone feature has seemed to have lost some functionality with this update. Before the 9/4/20 update I was able to unmute and mute the microphone at anytime anywhere, but now it seems to be completely disabled at times remaining on mute. Hopefully it can be fixed to how it was before given that being able to talk to people was one of the best aspects of this experience.

I just paid and it doesn’t allow me
To enter
by Emers0n
Terrible experience, I was double charged. Can not locate my friends via friend locator. My version says dev build while my friends do not.
by SparkleSocks1
After my in-app purchase, Multiverse hung. I eventually quit and restarted it, and now it wants me to pay again.
by Therealboobear
Found a little bug:
Paid the 7.99, got a thank you for purchase pop-up, then clicked to enter, got spinny wheel of death. Restarted app, asked for more money.
Fool me once!
by ShoBizNess
It let me create an account but not enter the this app. I click enter and it goes to a page asking for money for a sec before crashing and closing. Repeatedly. Sad.
by Ressaw2011
Even though this a burning man environment app you have to pay to use it, it’s a regularly reoccurring charge you can never turn off and it doesn’t work
by Bdashjsjsusu
Stealing art and charging for it is lame. This video game is not representative of burning man at the least bit.
by Dvlprstudios
Downloaded 3+ GB of Multiverse, gave my email address and info and then they ask me to purchase a ‘ticket’ without showing what Multiverse is about. Well done, guys. Looks like the virtual version of the ‘FYRE FESTIVAL’. Also, that image really on Multiverse page which shows a timer really helps. Y’all must be out of your minds if you think I’m paying for that!
by Snowman834
Maybe it’s because of my old iPhone 7 but it constantly crashes...especially when I get to a music venue. Constantly turns the mic off. It actually looks pretty cool but crashing every 3-4 min makes it unusable unfortunately. Hopefully the fee unpaid goes to making this better as it does look like it has potential. Good luck everyone.

Graphics are super fun but it keeps crashing!
by Sister Mary Juanita
The purchase screen says I have to sign in to verify the payment method. But when I continue, it doesn’t take me anywhere to verify payment. Hence it keeps canceling the in app purchase. I hope this gets fixed.
by CarpeJoy
I’m bummed. I paid for me and another to enjoy this but Multiverse kept the loading sign up after I paid and wouldn’t load any content. After restarting app, Now I have to pay again.
UPDATE
They fixed the issue I mentioned above. So, well done folks. However there isn’t much to actually do. You can hover around but there really isn’t any further interaction available… Yet?
by Terry Adams
This has been pretty fun to zoom around and check stuff out. The graphics are pretty decent and I have found some stuff. Laying in bed, headphones on and exploring.

I love everything about this🙏

Putting the entire Burning Man playa into VR.. what a tremendous undertaking! And thanks to these brilliant minds, a formerly cancelled event (due to covid) just became UNcancelled, and in SUCH a beautiful and easy to use way. $7.99 asking price is NOTHING for this 7 day experience, especially of this caliber, considering a real BM ticket is well over $500, not counting the cost of survival gear, etc. Please consider donating $3 or more so that someone less fortunate than you can experience this at no/low cost as well! 💖
Only glitch so far:
(hope developer reads this)
When you copy your location ID to share with friends, then switch to a messsging app to paste, you get logged out of the this app, invalidating the ID you just generated. 🤷🏻♂️
Please fix as this would be an AMZING feature!
