Good Start

2022-06-20

Was never able to get sync working.

This is a decent idea but after losing all my stuff trying to get sync working I’m not willing to re-enter it all for a next round. Deleted, unsubscribed. Will check in again in a year or two.

Doesn’t work

2022-07-21

Directive continues to show things are due that I have completed.

It worked at first, but after 3-4 months, wouldn’t update the to-do roster.

Still broken

2022-08-22

When Directive was first released, it exhibited a serious annoyance: old, deleted items would still show up in your notifications.

That is still true today, a year later.

Deleted and won't be trying it again, since this dev clearly doesn't want people to use or pay for Directive.

Great concept needs some features

2022-09-23

Directive is well organized and I wanted this kind of utility for a long time.
Looking forward for Sign in with Apple. I think as a utility app, most people don’t need to create and remember password for it. The feature would make sense.

Has huge potential

2022-10-24

I’ve enjoyed Directive so far, but there are certainly a few bugs. The sync feature seems to be selective between my devices, only getting about 85% of the tasks synced. The detail field in each this app is very short, and not expandable to list out more than a line of text. No ability to add photos.

Massive massive potential here though - love the design and simplicity. Love the ability to add buttons to take me to websites/map/form/instructions/etc.

Developer’s website is largely empty, with not a lot of help to be found.

Wish there could be more default options to start you off and running too. Would like to see the simplicity and versatility of Directive go head to head with the new Consumer Reports app Unkept. Excited for what’s to come.

Good start...

2022-11-25

Directive could hopefully grow into a very important part of my life. It's very difficult to keep track of all the different responsibilities of life, especially the ones that don't happen often. I like how Directive allows me to set a time to be reminded and even embed links to complete the action so that i can just immediately start it as soon as it's time to do it.

Some important feature requests:
*Please allow me to filter by categories. (I assume this is coming, otherwise I don't understand why you would allow me to add categories to items).
*Please allow me to create non-repeating items. I often want to be reminded when to unsubscribe from a free trial. This only needs to be done once.

This is such an obvious functionality...

2022-12-26

...that I can't believe it needed to be created as its own specialized app. I tried to use Things, Evernote, and Apple Calendar, but they all required too much tinkering to work simply. Directive does that.

Feature requests for future iterations:

1. Sync capability with Apple Calendar and Reminders.

2. Ability to sort by category (and sub categories), not just dates. Autos>Subaru; Autos>Toyota. Home>Hot Tub Maintenance, etc.

Covers the Basics but Weak Scheduling

2023-01-27

I really like this program except for the scheduling intervals. There is not an option to make something due on the last day of the month. No quartely option either. I hope the developer enhances the sceduling a bit more and I would give it a much higher rating.

Good So Far

2023-02-28

This is a nice app and so far I like it a lot. It is a little on the basic side, but it serves it purpose. I know it's new though, so I look foward to seeing the features they add in the future.

Good Home Task Organizer

2023-03-29

Bought a house a year ago and realizing how much there is to do (!) every season. Directive helps you remember all things you need to do when spring comes!

Directive would be even better if I could easily also add all the “one-time” to-do’s (non-repeating). That is not an option when setting up an item. Easy enough to delete the item, but would be good if that were built in!

Decent start

2023-04-30

Developer appears receptive to feedback as new update implemented some requested changes.

Guys it’s 99 cents a year...you can’t ask for daily updates.

In the future I’m hoping the countdowns can be customized. For example, I prefer weeks/days over monthly countdown.

Pretty good, needs some feature fixes

2023-05-31

Would be really great if the notes/details fields were bigger and could be displayed better on the screen. I like to put instructions or a paragraph note in some of these and the text is cut off in display mode (edit mode too but then you can sort of scroll sideways in them)

It's good but...

2023-07-02

I like Directive. It's a good start. But, unfortunately I can only use it on my iPhone (IOS 13) but can't use it on my Mac because it doesn't work on Mojave (please go back one Mac OS). I can't upgrade becasue my ScanSnap Scanner won't work with Catalina. I will have to buy a new one. Not going to do that until my scanner breaks. Back to Directive I like having something that can track routine tasks that need to be completed. I would like to see it have the time as well when task was completed. Kind of like the old It's Time App.

Perfectly Simple and Customizable

2023-08-02

Nothing about Directive is trying to sell you on something with expensive monthly fees or forced referral links. It is a perfect balance of pre configured templates and customizable options. Love Directive

Great but not great

2023-09-03

I bought this thinking that I wanted to be reminded of some things that are more than a 30 day cycle, but as far as I can figure out it is limited to thirty days. It would be nice to be able to set the days for more than that, like 45, 60, 180 etc. so I guess I use my calendar until this becomes more useful.

OK maybe I am not that computer literate, developer sent me a quick response with an answer to my distress. I know the error of my ways and like and support Directive . I was using my calendar for this type of use until this app came along

Exactly What I Needed

2023-10-05

Directive replaces an old ToDo app, Notes, and hard copy sticky notes. I used the free version for a week and asked the developer a couple “pre-sales” questions. He was extremely responsive and answered all my questions. After a few days, I signed up for he Pro version which is worth it to have all my reminders and sync’d across all my devices. It is exactly what I needed to have all my items in one place and a couple new features have been added in the short time I’ve been using it.

Good app. Add one feature

2023-11-05

App works much better than Apple reminders app. Please add option for a one time this app with no repeats.

Great Little Program

2023-12-07

Unique to do type program geared towards maintenance, chores, upkeep etc. I use it almost daily.

Perfect for Procrastinators

2024-01-07

I have now, with the help of Directive, become a normal functioning adult hahah joking
Love how LittleFin approaches their software with a minimalist mindset, and a clear purpose with their apps. You guys got me for life.

Battery hog

2024-11-17

Directive chews up battery time like nobody's business. No reason to do that.

Want to like it-update

2024-11-17

I like the idea of Directive to track things. Signed up for Pro version right away. Tried to set up cloud sync about 20 times and changed password a number of times to log in. Never logs in and keeps bringing me back to main screen saying not logged in. Very frustrating.

Raised this a star. Got into account sync by deleting app and reloading. I look forward to testing this out.

Nice start!

2024-11-17

I’ve used Chronicle for years and I’m excited to see what LittleFin does with this new app. I’m still trying to decide how to implement the software, but it looks like a nice start.

This app is amazing

2024-11-17

I don’t write reviews often, but I’ve been looking for an app just like this. I could use a generic task manager, but it just doesn’t give me the same level of oomph to get things done. Love being able to open Directive and see how long until I need to give the animals their heartworm meds or change the air filters, and have the sizes and link to order right in the screen! Great job!!!! PS - I didn’t see it immediately, but a sharing option would be awesome so hubby could join in the fun! Lol.

Nice, looking forward to more

2024-11-17

Update: raised my rating to 5-stars. The developer pointed out what I missed, plus being so accessible I have all the confidence that Directive is/will definitely be worthy of a 5-star rating.

At the moment I don’t want to repeat other reviewers, but I’d like to add another request, the ability to add a specific link for the “Buy on Amazon” button.
For example, I have a this app to replace my toothbrush. On that screen it gives me the options to mark complete, postpone, or buy on Amazon. I think it is a nice idea to take you right to Amazon. But it takes me to an Amazon page for toothbrushes in general. I know exactly the one I would buy, so it would be nice if I could set that up so months down the road when I want to buy, when I click the “Buy on Amazon” button, it takes me to my exact product page.
Keep up the great work!
