Can’t even get it to load on Apple TV

I downloaded MyWhoosh and upon launch it says it needs to download an additional 2.8ish GB of data to launch. After accepting it the download begins, it downloads Australia, Colombia, and then crashes while downloading Arabia. I tried a dozen more times, but every time it failed at the same spot. I deleted MyWhoosh and retried twice but got the same result. I’d definitely love to try MyWhoosh, I’m not crazy about the gimmicks in Zwift, but at least that app runs on the Apple TV. I’m not interested in trying it on my phone screen since it would be too small to see all the data I want during a training ride. Oh well.

Crashes on opening - Mac M1 laptop

Haven’t been able to use app as. It crashes every time I open it. App opens to front page, I select the profile and then the 1st popup say “server error can’t connect” then few seconds later, 2nd popup “not enough storage to download worlds” yeah I have over 500gigs on my laptop so not accurate.

I’m running Apple M1 Pro chip with 16GB memory and also updated to the latest macOS. I’m unsure way this is happening but would love to test it out on my Mac as it works on my iPhone, which leads me to believe there seems to be some issue the macOS app.

Happy redo this review once this issue is sorted.

Good enough for me sayonara Zwift.

Let’s face it. Riding indoors is rubbish but we all have variable reasons for doing it. The graphics on this game are every match or even better than Zwift. It may not have the playability of Zwift, but I don’t give a frank about playability, I don’t want to “play” I want to ride. So my little cartoon man responds when I turn the peddles, it gets harder going up hill and easier going down. It doesn’t cost a penny so the $18 I save each month I can use to buy some equally useless supplement or vitamin that will make me think I’m getting stronger :> If you want to play stay with Zwift. If you want to ride this is just as good and 100 % free.

Not user friendly

App would interfere with pandora, I cant listen to pandora or you tube while using MyWhoosh. Thats a big no for me, I want to be able to put my headphones on and listen to any kind of music or video while I work out. Also my elite trainer would not spin in ERG mode after several tries to get it fixed I can only use MyWhoosh with ERG off. Ive seen that any attempt of companies like this that try to tackle the simplicity of Zwift, fails in being just simple and user friendly. Not sure why they fail on such important issues which destroys the purpose of competing against Zwift. I did a work out and I couldn’t figure out if I was riding at the recommended watt number because the numbers are so small that I had to literally be inches away from my phone.

Works terrible with Apple TV, get Zwift instead

Every time I try connect I spend over twenty minutes just trying to get MyWhoosh connected, on Zwift I could have taken part in a race in that time.
The maps seem good, but if you want to change direction the controls get jammed up.
There is no point in community with whoosh, because I am unable to type on the chat otherwise it freezes up the controls and I need to reset. The conversation from other people seems rather lame one word things, on Zwift I could talk and the companion app does not freeze.
I honestly dislike my experience with MyWhoosh and will rather spend stupid money with Zwift. I hope UCI goes back to Zwift soon, terrible move on their part.

Lost resistance going up inclines

Update June 2024. This is still an issue. Both in the iOS and iPad os versions.

There’s nothing like grinding it out only to have your resistance go to 0 then come back 3 seconds later…..about 5 different times on each sustained climb. I gave two stars because there is a small change it’s my trainer not pairing and/or losing connection (even though it always said connected on the screen). This is not ready for UCI prime time if these are the issues still in the game after years of development. If the support team can pinpoint this to something with my trainer, I will give it 4 stars. Otherwise, it should just work, like Zwift. Trainer: Tacx Flux S

Good app with a few drawbacks

Overall this is a great app for virtual riding. Very comparable to Zwift, but without the large user base (maybe this will change in the future)

I have 3 issues with MyWhoosh :
1. MyWhoosh seems to disable the trackpad on my ipad when it’s open. I’m unable to use the trackpad to navigate the dock, other apps, etc when this app is full screen.

2. I don’t think it saves your rides? I can’t go back and pull up my previous rides through MyWhoosh . This only works through a third party app.

3. Steering: Steering is very clunky. Maybe this will change in the future, but using a the screen isn’t very intuitve or useful. Some hardware solutions in the future would be nice.

Trying to like it but can’t ride

Trying to set this up on Apple TV to give it a try. Downloaded and installed, game starts to load and then brings me to a blue screen saying “download content” this app requires additional content to continue.

But I cannot click the download button on AppleTV to download the addition content!!!! Grrrr

I have uninstalled/reinstalled…off/on and nothing works to download or get past this screen. Help?!

I like but has bugs

I’m about 6 rides in. Twice in the middle of a ride it just shut my ride down. I had to restart. Also, the most recent update had no progress bar. The screen just had the avatar standing by his bike. I didn’t know if it was progressing or locked up. I ended up deleting MyWhoosh and reloaded from scratch. Finally, I accidentally deleted a ride I had just finished. There is no confirmation that you want to delete and no way to recover it or manually add it back.

Lastest update lost sort feature

In the latest update the option to sort by distance/elevation/etc was removed for the worlds in free ride. I still see the sort option available for Workouts, but not for the routes in the worlds. This was really useful to be able to sort and easily find a route meeting my distance and climbing goal for the day. Please bring this back! Overall for a free app works well. A lot fewer riders than Zwift so not great if you are there for the social aspect, but that isn't my interest.

Love It But Has Crashed 2 Days in a Row

Love MyWhoosh and how it is being developed. However, 2 days in a row MyWhoosh has crashed during ride and lost all ride data. May have something to do with the latest update to iOS 17.2. Please fix or at least provide a way to recover the lost ride data like other virtual riding and training applications. MyWhoosh can’t be useful for training if the data is lost each time MyWhoosh crashes. For reference running MyWhoosh on iPad 9th edition with the latest update to iOS 17.2.

Great app! Shame on zwift!

Compare to zwift, it is free and most importantly it is much stable and it supports run offline!

Unlike zwift, MyWhoosh just give you what you really need!

What is the key to the Indoor training ? It is training, not sightseeing! Zwift is over engineered and has tones of useless features and waste of network bandwidth, computing resource but cannot even reliable capture the data from the trainer!

Downside is it doesn’t support on old iPad. But saved monthly fee could be used to subscribe a new iPad!

Could be better if it could connects to Garmin connect app so fit file could be shared automatically. The user interface need a bit polish.

To developer,
Keep good work, you definitely we get more users! Happy users! Thanks!

Definitely a big step up from Zwift

Honestly I found MyWhoosh after canceling my Zwift subscription that went up to $20 per month. So far I havent had any of the issues the negative reviews were talking about but could be down to either user error during installation like not having the correct drivers etc or bad hardware as a lot of games now are finicky with video cards and RAM causing crashes.

Graphics are awesome and so far everything runs smoothly. Im happy to spend my money on a company that actually puts effort and attention into a game but Zwift isnt that! Hopefully the developers keep improving on this game so more people can switch over now that a lot of the popular cycling apps are $20 or close to it. Ill take ad banners plastered all over the side of the road or big billboards etc just like in real races over paying a huge subscription fee! Seems like theres so much room for a developer to just

Almost perfect!

Wow! I can’t believe this is free! Kudos to the developers 👏! The visuals are immersive, MyWhoosh paired flawlessly with my Elite Suito, and the in-game experience was super-smooth! What I love: > Great collection of workouts and training plans. > Superb in-game graphics
> fantastic multiplayer, albeit with very few players online.
> Unbelievably simple and smooth setup process. It just worked.
What needs improvement:
> For some reason, there is no audio cue when a workout interval finishes (so, if you’re zoned in, you’ll miss the start of the next interval)
> Limited character customisation Overall, paid or free, this is a great alternative to some ‘swift’ games.

Update I: Like fine wine, the game seems to get better with every ‘tasting’. The graphics have gotten way better with the new update, and I’m actually seeing more humans in game.

I’m glad Zwift jacked up their prices

..because I wouldn’t have tried this app! I sat through an in depth video on various indoor cycling apps and considering I’m in my money saving era, the one that stood out was this app. Not only because it’s free but also because of the UCI contract. It tells me there’s tons of potential here. My first impressions are that it took forever to download but once it did it works wonderfully. The other thing I was finding minor issue with is that my avatar constantly gets out of the saddle and I’m like “girl.. my cadence is like 90 what are you doing?!” 🤣 but other than that, I really like the UI and overall experience so far. Looking forward to seeing how MyWhoosh evolves.

Tbh this has real potential to drop zwift

It’s pretty dang good for a free indoor cycling app, the visual looks better on the character tho the background needs work. It’s has and video trainers in workouts “which is what I primarily use it for” which is nice. The main thing for me that I really like MyWhoosh is that my kickr actually was smooth and hold its resistance from beginning of the workout to the end unlike zwift. I thought my kickr trainer has this issue in zwift where in a workout I would be pedaling and every 2 mins or so the trainer would lose all its resistance for 2 seconds but then would come back on in zwift. I thought my kickr was old and I don’t want to pay for another one since it’s still works beside that annoying little kink but in this app IT NEVER HAD THAT ISSUE ONCE!!! I don’t know what this app had that’s different but that alone is making to move to this app! Keep up the great work!

Goodbye Zwift!

I have been using this for app for a little while, and I really like it. Everything runs super smoothly on my iPad Pro connected to my TV. It connects very easily to my cadence sensor and heart rate sensor. I had a lot of issues with Zwift where it would slow down and stop working. I have not experienced that problem with MyWhoosh.

Battery Drain

I'm using the latest version on my iPad Pro 11, and everything is great; it surpasses Elite's MyTraining. However, during operation, MyWhoosh consumes an incredible amount of battery, about 50% battery for every hour of use. My iPad dropped from 95% to 47% battery in 1 hour and 3 minutes while using MyWhoosh.

Works Great Better than Zwift

I thoguht I woudl try it out and was really impressed. Works great, I actually like the interface better than Zwift. It does not have all the features of Zwift, but all the ones I need. I especially like the video workout coaches. Best thing is the price, no idea how long Free will last. Works great with my Wahoo ecosystem

Loving it lately…

I’ve used Zwift on and off since ‘15, but this winter I’m Whooshing it. I try different apps all the time, and have used this app before, but they have improved a lot lately. It is stable and looks pretty good on my iphone SE (HDMI to a cheap TV) . The newer Windows version is stable as well now, and I use that a lot too. Workouts are great, and I will run a training plan this winter. Racing is less active than Zwift, but I burned out on Zwift racing anyway, and the ‘social’ rides are default races if you want to try them. I actually like the fact that there are fewer riders TBH. More varied ‘worlds’, lots of nice climbs. A bit of a memory hog but that’s OK by me—it’s free. For now anyway. I don’t spend any real money on in-game upgrades, but I’m saving up virtual coins for my yellow Colnago…. Hats off to the devs. Sync the avatar cadence better (especially climbing) and enable keyboard initiated view changes, a quick look behind key, and that’s about it…zwift play compatibility would be great but not expecting that. See you out there in the sands.
