I’ve recently been noticing a distortion and screen flicker at times when I’m filming that’s ruined some good shots not sure what’s going on with the software as this doesn’t happen when I use the the regular IPhone camera app is anyone else having this issue? I shoot on a celeb radio show and this is changing the quality of the shots.

$20 a year and NO website, NO customer service email or phone, NO physical presence??? Who am I giving my $20 to? Who am I providing my personal information and financial information to in China?

Sorry, I don’t care how shiny Protake is these are some VERY shady business practices. Any one who doubts this try and Google or do an online search for this company, developer or business.

I like Protake layout and was really looking forward to using Protake . But i found that in the Pro mode you cannot tap to focus like in auto mode or in all other video apps I have used. The other issue for me is in the Portrait mode...it is limited to 1080 w data rate capped at 48k. ( I have an iPhone 12Pro Max for those wondering. )

I love Protake, there are so many great features about it but there is one huge con for some reason the resolution or video quality for the Ultra Wide is way subpar!!When you compare Protake with other apps like filmic pro or moment lens camera app or even the native iPhone app for the camera the Ultra Wide lens shows really good quality in 1080 P but the 1080 P on the pro take App looks like 360 P or 720 P 🤯

Love the camera control menus, as they are logical and easy to use (much like my bmpcc 4k). No digging thru layers of menus, just to set your color balance, iso and focus peaking. And while the 8 bit log profile works well with DaVinci Resolve’s Arri rec 709 LUT, the limits of 8 bit color are apparent when grading.

I will rate Protake with 6+ stars, if we get 10 bit log for iPhone Pro Max. Filmic Pro already has 10 bit log, but their camera controls are obtuse and fiddly, and not really appropriate for run and gun filming. I really hope that this app delivers 10 bit log soon. Please?!?

I really like the controls and features Protake has to level up on filling with my phone. So much so that I opted to pay for a Pro subscription - but Protake refuses to recognize that subscription and won’t unlock the Pro features. There’s no functional means of getting support from the developers. I really want Protake to live up to its potential, and I want to support the developers, but it doesn’t seem like it’s quite there yet.

I love the layout of Protake . It’s way more slick and pleasing to use than someone like ProMovie that I’ve been using. However I can’t justify a subscription service for a camera app. I took my business over to the Moment Pro camera app instead. Plenty of video controls over there for less than Filmic Pro, and a really pleasing interface to use. I hope the devs here consider splitting the subscription off into a 1 time purchase and offer the color profiles as additional purchase packs. It’s a much healthier consumer dynamic imo.

I have the paid pro version. I recently went camping where there was completely no reception. I could not use the camera app without reception because Protake has to log into your account to allow you to use the pro features. Free auto features were usable but I paid for pro so I can film in manual. Protake was completely useless without Internet. Please fix that issue so we can use what we paid for without an Internet connection.

Protake has everything you could ever want. I would totally upgrade to the pro version if it was a one time purchase but I’d never do a subscription for it. That’s just ridiculous. At most it is a cool toy but I can’t imagine anyone would use this for anything professional where it would justify the subscription. Just my 2 cents. Great work on the interface and features though! Only feature I would want added is to have IRE numbers on the waveform.

1. When the user flips their phone upside down to bring the lens closer to the ground, Protake laughs at you and doesn’t auto flip. Please address this issue. Some users may want to lock orientation when flipping their phones and that’s fine, but there should be a orientation lock button to accommodate that. Beyond that, Protake should auto flip.

2. When in ‘pro mode’, the focus reticle is aggravatingly absent. Please address that as well. Slowly scrolling a half wheel at the side of a tiny screen does not make one a pro user. I appreciate the A and B focus points, but do not omit the focus reticle in pro mode.

3. Variable focus pulling speeds would be a welcomed addition.

Everything else seems to be spot on. Thank you for a great app and I hope to see these changes sooner rather than later.

This is the best videography app that I have used and I have tried them all. The interface is something special it’s easy to use all controls fully at your fingertips without having to muddle around deep in settings and I would fully make this my only default video recording camera but their are a few things missing 1. Remote camera access having the ability to control and view what is being filmed from an Apple Watch and also another Apple product like an iPad is so helpful for those of us doing solo video shoots. 2. Being able to control multiple video devices through the interface as well being able to use 3 device signed into with the pro account is great but I can’t remotely view or start a recording. 3: Adding more filters would love to see an 8mm filter and even a vhs filter for the nice retro effects.

Best camera app I’ve ever used but there are lots of bugs. The feature layout is impeccable and well worth the subscription price. As for the bugs, I hope they get sorted out. Right now I’m trying to figure how to get clips i film out of Protake and into my camera roll. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn’t. It’s also unclear how to do it.

There are some definite bugs. I’m using the iPhone 1Xs and if you’re shooting on “Pro” mode, and in 4K, stabilization no longer works. Turn it to auto + 4K and it does, but if you want pro features, I suggest shooting 1080p, or looking elsewhere

Prateek is a great app… But it has a glitch in portrait mode. Every time I take a portrait mode video outside, the entire app freezes and it doesn’t save the video. Please fix it.

TL:DR - 100% worth the price. An absolute essential tool for all of my work.

Can it really be better than Filmic Pro? YES! Since purchasing, I'm all in on using Protake daily in my video production businuess.

Unlike Filmic Pro, the phone never overheats and breaks the footage. Protake team desgins the functions to live within the limits for what the phone can actually do.

Depth of Field on an iPhone - It works! So pumped to see this evolve past it's current abilities, but absolutely useful.

Dual cam recording - Game Changing for me. this app and an Osmo are the perfect combo for me. I can use the Super Wide Wide or the Wide Tele and I'm able to capture the story without needing a 2nd camera or person. I've used it on so many Pro gigs and the clients and producers LOVE it!

Remote Field Monitor Mode - WAY better than Filmic in every way except it can't as of today (Sep '21) cannot change cam settings remotely and it limited to just start / stop tiggering for up to 4 camaeras simultaneously - Still incredibly useful and way more reliable viewing experience than Filmic.

Buy Protake and support the team behind it. I'm so pumped to see what they enable next!

Please can you guys upgrade the portrait video mode to shoot in 4k and make the blur look more real please. If you guys actually do it this would make iPhone 13 cinematic mode pointless because you guys already achieved this look

This is a great app and a must have for mobile video buffs. I just found out it works with the Shure MV88+, which is amazing since Shure’s app lacks. The portrait video mode and dual lens recording give Protake an abilities edge over Filmic Pro. I would advise getting both apps, actually. Filmic gives some other options you may want (I.e. live audio monitoring with Bluetooth earbuds). But, overall, if I had to pick only one, I’d probably just go with this app. Go see what Youtuber Matti Hapipola (sp?) loves about it if you don’t believe me. One request, though: 4K 60 FPS support, please!
