Lackluster

I downloaded MercuryBankDifferently for my business a while back because it looked really clean and streamlined.. but looks are about all it has.

the service offers no actual benefits over a regular bank. Its actually been more problematic for my business than anything

The Customer support is aweful. There is no number to call in case of emergencies and the help chatline is mostly non-responsive. Then when they do respond, they don’t offer much help.

Plus terribly slow check deposits. 5-7 business days. And you have to request deposit limit increases. Which is a headache when nobody responds.

Also sometimes your money will even get held up when simply transferring between the mercury saving and checking accounts.

if you take your business seriously, i I recommend going to a more serious bank to manage your business banking.

Not so powerful banking.

My experience with Mercury Bank has been, frankly, unacceptable for any business professional. I applied twice to open a business account for my LLC, following all instructions meticulously and providing all required documentation. Yet both applications were rejected without explanation.

When I sought answers, a representative named Erin admitted she could not identify the reason for the rejections. This lack of transparency and accountability is inexcusable, particularly for an institution positioning itself as business-friendly. Instead of facilitating the process, Mercury Bank created unnecessary confusion and significant delays, resulting in a complete waste of time and resources.

For anyone seeking reliable, professional banking solutions, I strongly caution reconsidering Mercury Bank. Their failure to resolve legitimate issues and provide clear guidance demonstrates a systemic inefficiency that no client should endure. I have moved my business banking elsewhere and hope that future clients do not experience the same needless frustration.

I regret it all

As others said the on boarding experience is painful to say the least. After finally getting my account setup and scanning my first check an alert pops up telling me it will take 5-7 business days. The check didn’t appear in PENDING until ten days later. Two days later it finally posts to my balance but less than 24 hours later my account is locked when I open MercuryBankDifferently with a message telling me for help email them. There is no contact number or chat, and before this happened I’ve already emailed 4 times and only received one response that did not address my issues. To top things off debit card still hasn’t arrived and I feel like my money is being held hostage. In comparison I went to a local bank and had an account setup in a day and was given a debit card SAME DAY. I wish I had never put my money into this institution that can’t even respond to emails which is their only form of contact.

Very bad bank

Very bad bank, they don't know what a business account is for, low transfer limit. They expect you to put more than 150 thousand dollars in your account to increase the limit and the delay in fulfilling the request, your money will stay there for several days, harming your company and to withdraw the total balance it will take several days to get it because they don't increase the limit even if you send all the required documentation, if you want to lose money by stopping your business download MercuryBankDifferently

HUGE Disappointment

Update: In addition to all of the other problems that I have experienced, I just found out that they decided to destroy a $1,000 money order that was mailed to them for deposit because, with nothing indicating this, they decided that they will not take mailed funds for deposit and instead have decided to destroy the money order. This company is criminal.

I was extremely happy at first. I even made it a point to share and show support at TechCrunch Disrupt. Then, I was stuck, stranded at Newark airport because my Mercury cards mysteriously just stopped working. Mercury, in their infinite wisdom, decided that having a phone number or any other means to contact them in a time of emergency was somehow below them. I was using Mercury for my company’s primary banking solution. DEFINITELY NOT ANYMORE. I’m going to Chase Bank tomorrow to move my company’s banking over to them ASAP.

Sign up is a path to nowhere

On attempt 3 to sign up to receive $. Desktop and mobile lead to dead end. I’ve uploaded license images and linked and account 2x with *successful* verification. In between that I signed up for an account which is in no way linked to receiving money from person trying to send, Support is condescending and suggests I bug the client who invited me with questions and for another invite. I’m sure they’ll love being contacted about the technical and ux problems of the service provider who’s supposed to be making their life easier, thanks.

Terrible business bank

If you’re actually going to run any sort of operations through this bank you’ll be very disappointed. Can order checks, but can do a bill pay and send a check from your account…not. Tried this a few times. Send payment to landlord from account, take the money out immediately and the check never arrives. Canceled the checks and tried again still nothing. Customer service is almost nonexistent unless you want to wait forever. Going to take all my money out and switch to better bank for business.

Don’t bother

If you’re looking for a bank for your 21st century tech start up, don’t bother with Mercury. They rejected my application with no explanation and without even calling to have a conversation with me about my new business. This was after I had provided all of the info they had requested, including a picture of my drivers license and the organizational documents issued by my Secretary of State. So they have all of my personal and business information, and I bet they will sell it. I’ll be looking for a bank that is actually on the cutting-edge instead of pretending to be. I’d avoid them if I were you.

On boarding process is terrible

The on boarding/ application process is one of the worst out of the small number of banks I’ve previously dealt with. It took over a week to deny my application. They sent numerous emails, asking me to re-verification my information regarding my business, selfie’s etc. on their website they are claiming to be accepting Alzo customers in wake of that bank closing, but won’t provide any information as to why they are denying Alzo customers as well. How about a little transparency both ways? Or is this how banks work? Taking in customers sensitive information via unnecessary application and not giving them a reason or explanation for denying service.

Depositing checks take too long..

Everytime I deposit a check into mercury it takes a week to deposit and use my funds. I’ve been on many different banking platforms and it only takes a few days at most to deposit my funds.

I understand that they said “it’s due to fraud issues” & that’s why it takes that long but it’s just too long in my personal opinion… The company I work with doesn’t have direct deposit and only uses checks at this time. So, with that being said, mercury doesn’t fit my needs & unfortunately I will be finding a new bank for my business.

Deposits take too long

It consistently takes over a week for my deposited checks to show up in my account. This is impractical and a huge downside. Other banks take a couple days on average.

I also had trouble linking Mercury to my personal checking account at Beneficial State. Customer service said it's some problem with the API between Plaid and Beneficial, and they can't do anything.

The rest has been a generally positive experience. Setup wasn't exceptionally hard compared to business accounts I've set up at other banks. Interface is sleak and easy to use, and includes a few unique features I enjoy. I like having both virtual and real debit cards, and the fact that I can create multiples of them. I can also automatically route a specific percentage of funds between accounts, and set thresholds for each. Customer service has also been pleasant and pleasantly responsive.

I'll stick with them for now, but hopefully they shrink down their deposit time.

Missing features

Great app, but lacking features in Personal Banking like managing subscriptions—or at least identifying them in a separate tab—tagging transactions, excluding particular transactions from analytics, and analytics based on a transaction type. If you get refunds for something, it messed with the in-out analytics, and those numbers eventually become skewed and unreliable. Revolut has gone long way with it, but they butchered UI and made it really cluttered and non-intuitive. I hope Mercury will always stick to its minimalism—it seems like the only digital banking like that in the States. I'd also like more options for investing. I would switch from Robinhood to Mercury if only the latter had more options, like VGT. Also, at the home page, "transactions" require users to scroll down to see them; the graph is unnecessarily big and could be moved to the right of the balance, giving the space for Transactions to be visible right away—it's easier and faster to actually track your spending. I hope Mercury listens, since I and other users are paying $240 for it yearly. Wish there was a dedicated form just for user suggestions so the team could prioritize things and move even faster. Making Business Banking Easy

This bank streamlined my ability to start getting paid and managing my business finances. It took me 6 weeks to setup a bank account with banco popular in Puerto Rico and I pay $130/mo for the pleasure of having a local business bank account where I can email them a wire transfer letter to have one executed, for example.

Mercury just lets me get stuff done and the account was setup in minutes, not weeks.

Just missing invoicing from the mobile app. It would be nice to be able to update invoices or check statuses there. Or at least link me to the web app.

Excellent experience

I’m using Mercury for three different businesses and it’s hands down the best banking experience! I have other accounts with two other large financial institutions and everything about Mercury is so much better. From MercuryBankDifferently experience, reports, wiring, everything - it just works and is affordable.

NO CUSTOMER SERVICE

I love the idea of this bank. App works great. But there is nobody to talk to. You have to submit a form and someone will get back to you which can take days. My husband’s account is still in review and it’s been 12 days!
Another thing I find inconvenient is that transfer to and from another bank can take dayyyyys. Way more Thant the norm.

I’m going to give it another couple of weeks and see if they upgrade the quality of their service. If not, I’m taking my business elsewhere.

Never using anything else!

The sleek design caught my attention (even before MercuryBankDifferently came out) but the 6-star customer service, cool and simple yet super useful features and everything else kept me on board. They’ve exceeded my expectations and I won’t be using anything else. I’ve been using Mercury for over a year now for 2 of my businesses. I even moved my Fiancé’s biz to Mercury. Best move I ever made. Keep up the great work! And please add a multi-organization login feature so I can link and control multiple Mercury biz accounts on a single dashboard!

Maths

I don’t do enough business to be this bank’s target audience (yet!?), but as an accounting tool this bank is a game changer I haven’t encountered a bank before that makes auto transfer rules so easy. Very simple to split every penny to where it needs to go without having to pull out the calculator every time.

Highly recommend

I was using my old bank Huntington Bank for years, had a laggy website, bad international payments, annoying notifications and alerts. My account would constantly be locked and put under review for making payments over a few thousand dollars. Now with Mercury, I can send and receive money so much easier, very fast support. An incredible user interface and experience the CEO and CFO responded to my Twitter DM‘s. I’m incredibly impressed and plan on using this for the rest of my life and am begging my other founder friends to use it.

The customer support is impeccable

At first I was puzzled when I realized there wasn’t a phone number to call for my questions. But when I emailed them (don’t recommend using the message board) the response was quick, helpful and they follow up until the issue is resolved. Awesome customer support (especially Meghan is killing it!). Very happy with Mercury.

Brilliant

Mercury for personal or business use is an entirely new level of experience compared to clunky traditional bank interfaces. It’s designed for responsible users, presenting no tedious barriers to wires and ACH transfers. And the underlying banks (Choice, Column, Evolve) do their part efficiently with very fast transfer speeds. There appears to be no limit to how long old statements are available for download and any transaction can have comments or attachments. No more useless “DEPOSIT” comment without check images or other useful information one must suffer on old bank interfaces and statements. There is no way the likes of BofA, Chase, etc. can compete with Mercury, like flip phones to an iPhone.
