Look elsewhere, you can get 1 or 2 nice sitters but be prepared for the owner of the company to ring your phone off when you request your $20 deposit be sent back after a sitter cancel. I had a sitter cancel last minute and was not refunded by sitter tree UNTIL I filed a claim with my bank. Once they say I opened the claim they gave me “sitter bucks” and threatened me to close the claim or they will shut down my account. Well the bank already resolved the claim so they closed my account. What a Horrible way to run a business, if you can’t properly manage inconveniences like this they should reconsider even being a business!

Dear SitterTree Support Team, I am writing to petition for the reinstatement of my SitterTree account, which was recently closed due to my last-minute cancellation of a scheduled job. Regrettably, I had to cancel my commitment as I unexpectedly fell ill at work and was subsequently diagnosed with Covid-19. I fully understand the importance of upholding the qualifications and responsibilities associated with being a caregiver through SitterTree. However, I found myself in an unforeseen circumstance beyond my control. Given the contagious nature of the virus and the potential risks it poses, I deemed it highly inappropriate to fulfill my obligation to the family while knowingly being unwell. I want to emphasize my passion for childcare and my commitment to providing a safe and nurturing environment for the families I work with. It is with a heavy heart that I find myself in this situation, as I take great pride in the trust and confidence families place in me when caring for their children. I kindly request your understanding and consideration in this matter. I assure you that I am eager to resume my responsibilities as a caregiver as soon as my health permits. Thank you for your attention to this matter, and I look forward to a favorable resolution. Sincerely, A’maya Harrod

Both the app and the sitters can be extremely unreliable. I’ve used this company for ten years, and as they’ve grown, the quality has suffered immensely. If you’re a married couple needing a date night sitter, this will probably be fine. When the sitter cancels last minute, you just cancel your date. But if you’re a single mom who needs childcare for work, and your sitter cancels last minute, you don’t get to go to work or buy groceries. Sitters cancel in a majority of cases. And the app might just show you an error rather than notifying you that you've been canceled on.
Of course this all assumes you can get a sitter in the first place. With the new the choose-your-rate feature, this platform favors dual-income households who can pay more.
