Way too many upfront questions

I didn’t even make it to the search.... in today’s day and age of data, you don’t need me to play 20 questions with your AI. Just take me to the search engine and give me filters to search what I want. I don’t want to have to search for one specific car when looking for a deal, I am looking at multiples..... AutoTrader is a better search platform on its face... maybe this one is better.... but autotrader doesn’t ask me questions to start searching, and I can search multiple cars.

I also know that my local market is more expensive by thousands compared to driving 2-3 hrs to a larger market.... why are you trying to tell me about “good” deals in my hometown.... I am trying to search nationwide. Again, your “personalized” experience lags behind the competition and is super clunky. your 4 and 5 star reviews that are asking for features, did you realize that autotrader already has these features. If you are going to attempt to go against the giant in the marketplace, look at their app and reviews, then design what they do great and fix what they don’t.... don’t go make other problems....

Great Potential

CoPilot had the potential to be great. However, it started by asking me all these questions that I thought would lead to a narrowing of the vehicle I was interested in - that didn’t happen. Instead I either had to accept alerts (I have enough of those as it is, or emails - arrgh!). I then had to find another area of CoPilot to enter all my criteria, and the most important one wasn’t working - price. Why would I limit my criteria in all those other categories and not be able to alter price. Everyone has a budget of some sort - and the price functionality isn’t even created efficiently- instead of a max price - I would argue that depending on if the individual is targeting a new or used vehicle, a range might make for a better option. In the end, what could have been a great app, was rendered useless early on, and I was forced to delete it.

This app is a mess

It's overly flashy. Information isn't laid out well and it STILL shows you cars that don't meet your criteria, just saying that it's a percentage match. The issue with that is I don't know WHICH of my criteria aren't being included unless I dig deeper into the car. One of my criteria is non-negotiable and wasting time looking at cars that don't have this feature is annoying. For all their hype that CoPilot saves you money, browsing vehicles is a frustrating affair. Their passive aggressive constant pop-up asking you to turn on notifications or "I'd rather pay more money," is childish. Once CoPilot has asked me if I want to turn on notifications and I've denied it, it should respect my wishes, not ask me every five minutes or so of browsing. There are better and far less frustrating apps out there that just let you browse vehicles that meet your criteria without fuss. Use those.

Not user friendly

Convoluted and buggy UI... I thought I just needed to use it a few times to understand it. I’m looking for a specific year and trim which you would think would be a quick filter/search parameter. But after playing 20 questions on options that were not particularly important to me, and looking at a few cars, it was still difficult for me to run a simple filtered search for Year and Trim? Why I chose to write the review however is the amount of spam type emails I’ve received since signing up. I’ve received at least 8 emails in the couple days after signing up and I’ve unsubscribed multiple times. The ‘Steal of the Day’ emails I keep getting is for the same car and when I tried to view the car I’d get a message stating “Sorry to Miss the Mark”. I think they sums up CoPilot in a nutshell.

Could be great but ends up being annoying

I’ve been car shopping for a while, using all the most popular services separately, which can be tedious. I was hoping CoPilot would help consolidate all that searching into one app. Unfortunately my experience was more frustrating than helpful.

It has some good analysis tools to help you decide if something is a good buy, and those appear to work well. It also does a good job of searching multiple places. What it doesn’t do well is user interface.

In an effort to make the interface more guided and conversational, they’ve limited your choices too much. They ask some very broad questions but don’t allow you to put in important details like trim levels, mileage or model year ranges, during the initial questionnaire stage. You can enter those criteria later, but doing so is clunky and at times difficult to find.

It also restricts some things so you can’t change them. For example, I’m searching for a very specific model year range due to significant mechanical, equipment and appearance changes between years. After answering the initial questions, it returned results that spanned two very different model years, and would not allow me to eliminate the years I was not interested in. I’d try to move the slider and it would move right back.

Overall CoPilot has potential, but I found it too restrictive for the kind of searching I like to do, where I have more detailed and precise control over search parameters.

Loved this app but it’s UI is too cluttered, etc

We used CoPilot extensively 18 months ago to buy a car. A great help! But the UI is way too cluttered now with a very un-intuitive navigational set up. Routinely, I tap on something and it spirits me away from the car profile I was looking at—and there is now way to go back. Or it initiates a search (with the barest, least relevant criteria), and then asks me to SAVE the search—with no way to hit cancel or go back or edit your search criteria. And it’s terrible if it sends you to the AI interface. You never get out of the chat UI. Then if after all of these dead ends, you have to force quit CoPilot …and you now have to login in all over again!!! STOP THE MADNESS!!! The developers of this UI need to go back to ground zero and make the UX way simpler and more intuitive. It should not be that difficult to change the terms of my search. To go back or cancel. Stop wresting so much control away from the user to dead end options. Also, the screen with past/saved searches should not have a dozen different links. It is SOOO confusing! You should NEVER take a user away from a page without an immediate and intuitive way to get back to the previous page. This is like UI/UX 101z I’m still using this on our current car purchase but hating the experience, through and through. If there was another better competitor’s app, I would use it.

Who is the primary customer

I’m aware that apps like this need to generate revenue. For me the features are useful and I am reserving my final rating until the process is complete.
My concern is I was ready to move forward on a specific vehicle which was rated an A+ buy with data that supported the claim.
It also listed 0 reasons to pause.
I decided to do a deeper dive and found an open recall, 4 owners, which are not necessary deal breakers. However I found that year has a fairly unreliable engine and transmission specifically. Rated 4 out of 10 based on reported issues.
I’m questioning the apps objectively but I will see how it goes. My advice is do your research and use multiple sources.

Fantastic idea, super useful, got a couple suggestions…

This is a great problem to solve! I’m impressed with the search results and the detailed breakdown of how they match against my criteria. However, not all the criteria are in one place and it’s super frustrating to try to find the different layers of what I need. When I do manage to run across the price, year and mileage options, I find that it has applied arbitrary limits that restrict my results to nothing. E.g. the mileage slider is all the way to the right at 30k(?!) I’m searching for a specific car that is 10 years old. They exist, but not with less than that amount of miles. All the traditional car sites find results within my parameters pretty easily. If I can’t find them here, CoPilot isn’t actually useable for me. Overall CoPilot has a ton of potential but is designed in a confusing way and the flow feel very restrictive.

Im sure they’ll improve CoPilot but the overall experience isn’t worth the trouble at this point.

Accurate with availability of vehicles

I used CoPilot for 3 weeks until I was ready to buy a vehicle. In the end, I had saved 3 cars as favorites. One dealership didn’t even realize they had the car until they went into the back and looked for it. Another dealer forgot he had the car for sale because it was a dealer transfer and he hadn’t received it quite yet, even though it was his vehicle for sure. It was nice to see availability on this app, then call the dealership to confirm, which was always accurate (after they checked). The price was always accurate as well. I appreciate the quick email that this app sends you if your saved vehicle sells. I’m glad there is not a delay in that respect or accuracy would be limited.

I knocked 5 stars down to 4 because I don’t like that this app says you have a certain number, say for example, 11 exact matches, but when I look at them, they are not all the interior color I said I wanted- so I don’t consider that an “exact match”. I still had to filter through the vehicles displayed to save the ones that were an exact match.

Good start; few more features would make it amazing

Found this to be a great search app but got stuck with a few things including inability to share finds with others, inability to map those on your saved list and not returning to spot on list after viewing details (it takes you back to the top of the page). Also, sometimes there have been false reports of updates to a search and nothing shows or it just churns without showing results it says are there. All in it is a better search choice though than others I’ve been trying

Confusing at times but helpful too

Sometimes you’ll do a search and it’ll let you save a vehicle but often it shows one search result of many stating it’s a “great buy” but you can’t favorite the vehicle or look at any additional ones.I spent about a half hour trying to figure out how to save these vehicles which I learned you have to eventually exit from then click a small icon to search. It should be much easier than this snd can be a waste of time. Sometimes the search pages were crooked on the screen then disappeared. However it’s worth the frustration at times as overall it will definitely help your search and give you much needed help like Carfax reports, reputation of the dealer selling it and overall accurate reasons why you should or should not buy the car.

Incredibly helpful!

I relied heavily on this app throughout my recent car buying experience. It was invaluable to get frequent notifications about vehicles that met my criteria available in my area and even further away. In addition to an initial list, I would hear about price changes and newly available options. I could then look at dealer sites and decide whether to schedule a test drive, without traveling blindly to numerous dealerships. When I did go to a dealer, I was armed with comparable vehicle prices to help with negotiation. Overall, I felt much better prepared to work with a dealer and got the car I wanted for a good price!

This app is incredible for used car purchases

This free app is amazing. I was searching for a used car for the first time in years, and saw an ad or review for it somewhere. I was so glad. I did…. The inventory available in CoPilot , and the many filters available to search, plus the information provided on the cars - including CARFAX when available (it was for every car I looked at on CoPilot ), plus price history and comparisons - just amazing.

Pair this with a Bluetooth OBD2 sensor to check out cars before/after a test drive, and wow, I’ve never felt this good about a used car purchase. I’d recommend this to anyone looking for a used car.

Loving It!

I’m really glad I was targeted for the Facebook ad for CoPilot because I’ve been searching multiple websites trying to figure out what to do about getting a newer vehicle. CoPilot is amazing. There’s not much I would change about it other than maybe if the car is a good deal to show that in green and to show the over market in red maybe. I love that it has that feature because sometimes it’s hard to compare all of the details yourself when there are multiple dealers. I’ve had an issue with it changing the years sometimes when I search and I have to change them back to what I wanted, but that’s just a minor problem. I also love that it has a link to that car’s page on the actual dealer website too. CoPilot seems to be very well thought out.

Great resource

this app gave me a list of SUVs I would have never found on my own. I was looking for a 21-22 Toyota Highlander with specific options. I entered info into the search feature designating which options were “must haves” and which would be “nice to have” within 100 mile radius. I got a good selection which I either saved or not. I would get notified of price drops in my selection and new finds. One I was particularly interested in had a price drop that made it irresistible. It was 75 miles away and a beautiful drive. To reiterate, I would not have found my “new” SUV without this app! Loved the ease of using this app and LOVE my Toyota!

Excellent App

this app is unlike any app you have used in your search for the right vehicle. It allows you to enter all the details about the vehicle, the options you need and the ones you just have to have as well. The model, the trim, the mileage, the price point, etc. this app will do all the searching, you can review the results and just save the vehicles you want. this app will rate them, tell you who the dealer is, allow you to click on the dealer site and this app will continue to send you updates with new pricing, new cars on the market and so much more information. this app is constantly searching the internet for you and providing you with updated information on the vehicles you are looking to buy. Great, great App. I brought a very nice, certified vehicle at an excellent price, rated an “A” by this app because I used CoPilot . So what are you waiting for!!

Best Used Car Search Engine Ever

My wife and I were looking for a very specific trim level and year Subaru Outback and this app is the only app that let us narrow down our options so precisely and got us the BEST deal on a used car.

We were able to search within a 500 mile radius and found the perfect car only 5 hours drive away. We flew in purchased the car and drove it back. This saved us over $7000 and the car we bought was 1) the year we wanted 2) the trim level we wanted plus more 3) only had 2000 miles 4) was certified pre-owned!

I would highly highly recommend this app to anyone looking for a car!

Simplifying the car search process

Love CoPilot. With so many cars and options out there, it can get very confusing. The AI consultant gathers all the information based on your criteria and gives you information on cars that fit that. It will give you reasons you should move forward on a car, good price, been on market for a while, good dealer rating, but also gives you reasons for being cautious, accident, it is a new listing and won’t negotiate, etc. this app also alerts you to price drops, etc.

Helped me find that needle in a haystack

I’ve been using the this app app for the last 6 months looking for that rarely found low priced SUV that was well maintained and fully loaded. Having the luxury of time, I was able to look at tons of vehicles near my price range and look for quality. The assessments, photos, CarFax, and breakdown of options and features allowed me to easily one stop shop these vehicles through CoPilot , and only going to the dealer website once I was confident this vehicle was worth taking a closer look. In the end, I found the perfect mint condition vehicle listed $2000 under market value that I was able to negotiate another $1000 off of the price with the help of the analysis that CoPilot provided. Additionally, the vehicle ended up being an hour and a half away, so frankly without this app, I would have never discovered it.

I will be using this app again the next time I am in the market for purchasing a car. It truly helped me find a hidden gem at an amazing price.

Truly top tier car buyer advocate app

After driving around searching car lots near our city, we were annoyed that it was difficult to really find models that fit our desired feature set. Within ten minutes of downloading this app I was set up with hundreds of matches within a days drive, and I was able to quickly and very accurately filter that list down based on the wanted features and budget. Whittled the huge list down to two vehicles that matched our wants and budget, and made plans to go test drive! We ended up buying the first match because it test drove really well.

this app has the best filters for vehicle options of all the car buying apps I have tried!
